Dakota Sawyer returns to her family’s resort to head up a children’s summer school program. While she’s there, she plans on reconnecting with her two older brothers and catching up with her friends. What she didn’t plan on is her attraction to Brett Hayward, a single dad of twins who also works at the resort.
A summer of healing…
Brett is still healing from his divorce and navigating single parenting. He hasn’t had much time or interest in dating until she came along. Dakota is smart, beautiful, and great with his kids, but she’s also much younger than him and his boss’s sister. There’s no way it could ever work.
A summer of love…
As the summer progresses, Dakota becomes more attached to Brett and his kids, Isabella, and Cooper. The feeling is mutual, except for Cooper, who initially balks at his dad dating his teacher. Despite all the obstacles they face, Dakota and Brett are irrefutably drawn to each other.
A summer of choices…
By the end of the summer, Dakota is faced with some hard choices. Will she return to her job and apartment in Knoxville or stay on at Sawyer’s Ridge?
Paradise Found is book three of the Sawyer’s Ridge series. To learn more about the characters, check out Close to Heaven and Mountain Dreams.
Dakota Sawyer returns to Sawyers Ridge to be with her family and also to cover the children's program for the summer. She enjoys reconnecting with her brothers and their significant others. On her first day of the summer program Brett Hayward drops off his children Izzy and Coop. It becomes apparent to them that their is a spark between them.
They enjoy each others company and she falls in love with his children. Then eventually that spark becomes a full fledge flame. Dakota knows this can go nowhere for many reasons. First and foremost at the end of the summer she is going back to Knoxville. She doesn't want her heart broken nor does she want to hurt Brett. As much as she doesn't want to admit it to herself, coming back to Sawyers Ridge and breathing in that fresh, clean air is invigorating.
When I picked up Paradise Found I could not put it down until I had finished it. Yes it was that good. So good in fact that I didn't want it to end.
This is the third book in a series. The individual books related around three siblings who live/work at a resort in the mountains of Tennessee. Each sibling got their own book. Paradise Found revolves around the youngest sibling and her return home and finding the love of her life. Dakota arrives back “home” for the summer to teach the kids of the resort workers during their summer break. When Dakota first meets the newest employee, Brett, and then his kids, she thinks he is “hot” but knows he is off limits. After learning he is divorced, she struggles with the idea of letting her ambitions down to pursue him. The book reads really well! I liked the story and how it all unfolded. A definite winner!
A small town, light hearted Hallmark-type romance with age-gap and low-medium steam told in the 3rd person POV. And a really nice cover 😍.
👷🏻♂️ Brett - 36-yrs old, divorced father of twin 8-yr olds, working construction at her family’s Smoky Mountains resort near Pigeon Forge, easy going and friendly guy.
👩🏼🏫 Dakota - 26-yrs old, 3rd grade elementary teacher, working during the summer at her family’s resort to run the kids day camp, deathly afraid to fall in love because of the possibility of losing that loved one (after her parent’s recent car accident deaths), somewhat reserved and prickly at first, takes awhile for her to warm up.
☕️ One part of the journey focuses on Brett learning how to date again, after having been married for 10-yrs. (ex-wife is in the picture because of shared custody, but they have a decent, no-animosity relationship). I felt it was handled realisticly, as I assume it really would be awkward to jump back into the dating scene and deal with insecurities that you haven’t felt for a long time.
☕️ The other part of the journey was Dakota and her fear of any and all feelings. She was not happy to be returning home and be around memories of her parents, and she was insistent on only staying there for the summer (and returning to Nashville afterwards) so no need to start any relationship with feelings.
I love this author, I wish more people read and reviewed her books. I’ve enjoyed many of her books as she writes the small town romances with normal, everyday relatable characters AND a bit of spice. Not clean, yet definitely not porn, not overly descriptive and not done for shock value. But still a few steamy scenes to be found.
Even though I love this author, comparing this book to the Book 1 in this series… I loved Book 1 way more because of the grumpy-sunshine trope in that one. This one was more of a reverse grumpy-sunshine, which isn’t my fav.
What a great end to the Sawyer's Ridge series! I have loved this series and this book was my favorite of the series. I loved the other books but Brett as a single dad and Dakota with his kids was a home run for me. I loved Izzy and Coop as well and watching Dakota navigate with them. Also I loved catching up with Jax and Avery, as well as Cody and Maddie. Definitely make sure you check out this series!
