King Karitsus of Atulaya wants to rule a mighty empire. Queen Hirzolu of Bintuvia just wants to take care of her kingdom and her family. Queen Hirzolu and her daughter are smart, while King Karitsus and his eldest son are not. What will happen when smarts and strength collide? Well, you can probably guess, but the journey will be interesting.
Two neighboring kingdoms enjoy an uneasy peace. Two monarchs have different philosophies. An incident brings them into opposition resulting in war. Which one will win?
In this story from Kansas author Robert Collins, it is a toss-up.
The kingdom of Atulaya is ruled by strong King Karitsus. Like his father before him, he has never lost a battle. Karitsus has a beautiful palace, a handsome son, and strength. In the neighboring kingdom of Bintuvia, Queen Hirzolu ruled in the name of her recently deceased husband. It is unusual to have a woman ruling, but the queen is a force to be reckoned with. Along with her daughter, the Princess Iwulo, Intelligence is the key to victory. It's a classic battle of brains versus brawn.
Amidst a backdrop of political maneuvering and intrigue, we get an excellent story! I learned about this book from the author’s blog, which I subscribe to. Seeing it was his latest work, I grabbed a copy and dove in.
A Kingdom Will Fall is a chess match between two opposing philosophies that clash when an incident happens while one character visits the opposing kingdom with the intention of hammering out a treaty between the two biggest kids on the block.
The story isn't fast paced, instead the reader is treated to a fair amount of world building, character development, and my favorite part of the story, how the characters try to outguess one another. After that, it's a dash to the ending in a contest between strategy versus strength in an unforgettable battle with a satisfying ending.
I was entertained as I moved through this story. I recommend it for those who like fantasy with twists and turns as two rulers faceoff.
This is a good one that is not overly long but is a standalone imaginative story!
