Dun, a former Pinkerton agent, settles into a sleepy Wyoming town. Danger should be far behind him now. The worst he faces is drunken cowhands on Saturday night. He finally has what he considers a hometown. All that is missing is a bride. Easy to fix! He simply writes away for one.
There's no way he could know the wild adventure she brings with her. And will he believe what he learns about his own birth?
This is a standalone novel. Characters from A Bride for Boss do appear in it, but one can easily read this book without first reading that one. If you read A Bride for Boss, find out the rest of Dun's story.
This is a beautiful sweet and heart warming story with wonderful characters. This is a story of secrets, mystery, danger, surprises, twists and turns, and romance. This is Dun and Moira's story. Dun is the local sheriff and feels that all that is lacking in his life is a wife so decides to send for a MOB. Moira travels west to become his wife bringing excitement and adventure with her. What will happen when secrets are exposed and Dun learns about his birth? Will the couple be able to withstand the danger that stalks them? Will their "agreement" as to their relationship grow into a HEA? Be sure to read this page turning story to find out; I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
This is a great story. I enjoyed all the characters. Even though I thought Dun was going to be a gruff, grumpy, and scary guy, he turned out to be a man with a heart of gold and loving touch. I was pulled into the story with its secrets and mystery. I was also surprised in learning about Moira, all she’s been through, and all that she can do. Surprises were everywhere, including danger and sweetness. I enjoyed learning about both the main characters and wanted to keep reading so I could keep discovering. I’m not too sure what’s not to love in A Bride For Dun by the talented Author Marisa Masterson because I loved it. I’d recommend this book and absolutely recommend the Author.
I enjoyed Dun and Moira's story! I'd have liked it to have lasted longer, though! There wasn't as much interaction between the two as I'd have liked to see, either, though it is a good quick read! Moira doesn't tell Dun the total truth when they meet; however, he finds things out pretty quickly, except one last detail she keeps to herself. When Dun is almost taken out, help arrives, and that's when he finds out the last secret Moira kept from him. Will they be able to finally become the family both wants?
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Fast Paced Western! This is a short, fast paced, romantic mystery set in a western historical setting. It reads very easily and quickly, is enjoyable, interesting and entertaining and held my attention throughout. I really liked Dun. He is strong of character yet has a heart of gold. I enjoyed watching how he and Moira came to an understanding about the partnership in their marriage and how they slowly began to trust one another. I have just finished reading an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) and my voluntary review above is unbiased.
Moira needed to marry Dun to get her daughter back safely. But she couldn’t let Dun know why she married him, or that she wasn’t a spinster. Little did she know she married a former Pinkerton and now the town sheriff.
I was really looking forward to reading Dun’s story after just finishing A Bride for Boss, where we first learn about Dun, as he’s an integral character. The story here was a good one, but it just didn’t seem like much of a romance story that I expected.
This is sweet mail order bride tale with a bit of mystery and was written by Marisa Masterson. She has filled the pages with adventure, excitement and a bit of mystery. Dun is a small town sheriff and an orphan with hardly no remembrance of his history. Wanting a family of his own so he sends for bride and Moira answers his advert. You will greatly enjoy how they find their happily ever after.
Hail to You Marisa.. a Really Great Story Line. Loved your Story

Characters and not just words, you get pulled into a Good story…keep up the good work.. so THE REST OF US CAN ENJOY A GOOD READ….👍💕Sandy
Dun wants what his friends have, a wife and a happy family. Moira needs a husband, specially Dun. How will he react when discovering her motivation to marry him? Can they still work together and build a happy family? Great story with some unexpected twists and turns. Marisa Masterson delivers again.
Another great book by Marisa Masterson. Dun and Moria both want something out of this marriage. Dun wants a wife and his own family, while Moria wants her daughter back. Which will be returned to her when she marries Dun. The Mystery started before they even marry. This was very well written and I really enjoyed reading it.
I love opening a book by Marisa Masterson. I know I will get a book with romance, action, danger and in this series, a sheriff. Dun has a mystery to solve, why is his new wife pretending to be someone she’s not and what mystery does she bring with her? He gets more than he bargained for with his mail order bride but it turns out it is all good. A well written story and one I enjoyed.
I enjoyed this book. I questioned the opening part of the book: it seemed to imply criminal behavior among the major characters. But it all worked out in the end and a happy family was formed. I enjoy books where everything works out in the end.
Well written, perfectly paced and thoroughly satisfying. Story of an orphaned Sheriff and a previously abused mail order bride with lots of secrets. This read, though short, has it all, drama, intrigue, action and plenty of romance. Nice job Ms. Patterson!
A mysterious beginning for one mail order bride and a uncertain start for this heartfelt story. Lots of intriguing things about the characters and a most interesting storyline. The author creates a memorable story of inspiration and love for the readers from beginning to the climax of this story.
A clean, sweet romance with a good bit of mystery. I suggest you read the Proxy Brides #49 (A Bride For Boss) first as it will help you get to know Dunn and a few of the side characters. Dunn finally has a home and people that feel like family. Now he wants a family of his own. But is his bride hiding something? Will they draw closer as a couple or will the problems pull them apart?
This mail order bride came with complications. Great characters, and an exciting plot with challenges and bad guys coming through the windows. Rustlers out West, Rats in the city. A story I enjoyed and can highly recommend.
I really enjoyed Dun’s story, which is connected to the previous book ‘A Bride for Boss’. I enjoyed the main characters of Moira and Dun and the fast paced story with twists and turns - more than you expect in a shorter novel.
Dun has just learned about his inheritance, so why does his mail order bride know more about it than he does? Did he make a mistake in marrying her and will he live long enough to find out if the pull he feels towards her is love or something else? Nice story with lots of twists and mystery.
This was not your typical mail order bride story. There are mysteries surrounding Dunn's mail order bride and he's just the man to get to the bottom of it. Exciting romance with mystery and action.
I really loved Boss and Frankie's story so was I was really looking forward to read this book. Glad to say wasn't disappointed different and very engaging loved it specially that she didn't drag the truth too long to create much bigger damage. I would recommend it.
This book was packed full of situations but they were a bit disjointed. It felt like there were a few too many twists and not enough backstories. The author has lots of great ideas, just needs a bit more detail.
A marriage arranged with deceit at its core brings Dun and Moira together. From this intrigue, can any lasting good arise. Cleverly written with a satisfying conclusion!
