The Buccaneer

Rate this book
Multicultural Shape-shifter Paranormal

Joi Jones needed money quick, and if it meant serving aboard the infamous Buccaneer on Halloween night, she'd have to suppress her annoyance over the exotic erotic masquerade ball being hosted, squeeze into the provocative costume, and plaster a great big fake grin on her face. After all, it was just two nights out of her life and a way to keep the wolves away from her door just a while longer. If only she could find a simple solution for convincing the devastatingly handsome captain she was only there to serve food and was not on the menu herself.

He was a pirate, or so he'd been dubbed in the business world. Ari Yngvar never balked at the description, feeling a strong kinship to his "buccaneering" Norse ancestors. Being offered the command of the two-day erotica cruise was laughable to him, until he agreed to take a tour of the vessel and caught sight of the perfect wench to satisfy his marauding appetites.

The couple's attraction is instant, but Joi's defiance and a little mischief from a female shifter threaten to botch Ari's pursuit of the woman he'd chosen as his mate. Fortunately, Ari's not so easily dissuaded. He knows how to take what he wants.

What can I say, I love to read and write. I have 3 beautiful children who keep me active and happy, if not for them I'd probably be a recluse surrounded by zillions of books, a few tablets and several laptops. I love getting all feedback since my goal is to improve on my craft. I haven't written my best work yet. Hope to hear from you.

Happy Reading!

This was my first time reading this type of book, and I have to say I enjoyed it. Ari knew he wanted Joi the miniute he laid eyes on her, and was certain she was his mate. Joi was attracted to him as well, but didn't have ever after on her mind. Ari was the true definition of an alpha, he knew what he wanted and went after it. I did find it a little strange after Ari told Joi he was a shifter, and then showed her she wasn't even a little bit frightened. This book is pretty short, and it took a while to really get going. Had things happened more quickly I probably would have rated this 4 stars.

Nice quick read

This book provided a nice break from my normal heavy reading. I like the heroine and the story flowed well enough. The ending was very abrupt. I will be checking out some other titles when I need the pallet cleansing read.

I read a couple of books by author Nia K. Foxx and I enjoyed them, this was also a great read by her.

Joi Jones is in debt, her job merged with another company and when she should have looked for another job, she stayed but to her detriment, her salary had been cut and now struggling to make ends meet. Now her best friend Eva got her a job for the Halloween weekend working on a cruise, the money she would make plus the tips will easily help to get her creditors off of her back. Now that Joi is on the ship, she is not so easily convinced once she comes face to face with one of the owners.

Ari Yngvar is the Alpha leader of his Wolf Pack, he clearly doesn't want to be on the ship but his baby sister Kelsey insisted that he come on because as Alpha he has not made an appearance, he reluctantly agrees but then finds out his sister Kelsey lost a bet and he was the prize, furious with his sister, Ari is about to leave the ship until he senses, a presence not to far away and one whiff, his wolf rises up and is about to come face to face with his mate.

Ari will not have an easy time convincing Joi to be with him, but with some moves as precise as a chess player, Ari gets Joi alone with him but quickly realizes, she is not going to be so willing to succumb to him because unlike him and mostly everyone on the ship except for the staff, Joi is human and has no idea about the whole mating game. Ari is an Alpha and what an Alpha wants, an Alpha will get and now the hunt is on to claim his mate.

This was a good short story and the characters had great chemistry with each other. I love a good shifter story and this didn't disappoint.

Love the interracial paranormal shifter read. What I love about the read was the chase or cat and mouse game played between Joi and Ari. Joi was down on her luck with no job and money to pay bills until her best friend secretly got her a job on the exclusive cruse . Ari is a shifter and alpha male of his pack as well as the captain for the annual hollween cruse. Ari sees Joi as apart of the working crew and knows immediately that she is his life mate, of course Joi puts up a resistance.

In the mist of the tug of war between Joi and Ari of course Joi finally gives in and when these two got together it was explosive sex and everything, though when Ari told Joi he was a shifter and wolf I'm surprise she was a little more frighten. I would love to see a story for Joi's best friend and Ari's sister, even though in the book Joi mention briefly that she has a brother she does not talk to maybe Ari's sister and the brother should come together, just saying.

Quick short read not too short not too long, I enjoyed the read..

It was a great quick read. Although it was short, you still got to know the characters. Even though the book had a warning to it being erotica, I felt like the story was more than because it told a story. It wasn't just sex which made the sex better.

My only complaint is the shifter scene. Really? I wasn't buying the calmness of the heroine. That's were I had to remind myself that this is fantasy.

Other than my complaint, I have no issues. Good read and I'm looking forward to re-reading. :)

I love alpha males.

The Buccaneer was a short read but a good read. I wish it could have gone on longer. If it was longer I could have given it 5 stars but the quick end has left me wanting so much more!

Too short!

I would have love to read more about their relationship. Hopefully one day there will be a second part and Joi adjusting to her new lifestyle.
