Maxwell Sterling’s nickname ‘the devil’ hides what he really is – a devil. Well, put this way, it doesn’t make him heroic, does it? But Maxwell is a normal man, except for this tiny little gene in his genetic makeup – the devil gene. A successful businessman who has women falling at his feet every minute of every day, touted as a relentless playboy by the media, Maxwell is well above all this. He just wants to be rid of this gene, and finding the counterbalancing angel gene and soul bonding with its carrier will mean being delivered from his ‘curse’. There’s worse though – if he doesn’t get rid of the gene, it will eventually consume him, very soon.

Said angel gene is carried by Olivia Watts, a divorced mom who escaped from an abusive marriage. Olivia has sworn off men, whether they are nice, next-door types, or the devilishly handsome ones like Maxwell.

When Max finds Olivia, he knows he’s found the one he needs. It also helps that he is bowled over by her, and wants her for more than her angel gene. Maxwell wants her as his partner. But Olivia is wary of him. Why would a tycoon like Maxwell be interested in a small, insignificant woman like her? Isn’t it hiding something? Maxwell will stop at nothing to win her over. Will Olivia succumb? Allowing herself to be seduced, will Olivia become the devil’s plaything?

I found the book a very pleasurable read. It was indeed interesting to see the very alpha Maxwell chasing after this tiny woman who was doing her best to give him a hard time. The plot was also sprinkled here and there with a few twists the reader doesn’t see coming, and that is nice. Ms. Vaughn writes in a beautiful voice, very easy to follow. Her characters are likable and well-sketched. If only for the come-uppance Olivia gives her nasty office colleague, this book can be labelled as good one!

I thought this story was well written and had a lot of great potential. IT was a fast easy read read that had a few very sexy parts. My one main complaint about the story is I really expected to see more paranormal activity. I really wanted to see some shit get torn up some people get F**ked up and some powers being wielded. Again like I said the story was good and the concept is amazing I just wanted to see more. I am not sure if I recommend this book or not but at least you can see the issues that I had with the story and you can make your own decisions about it. I like the author and have read some of her other books and will continue to do so.

I loved it! The story drew me in from the get go and Maxwell is hot, hot, HOT! For 133 pages this story had a little bit of everything including suspense.
