What happens when disrespect enters the door? Love has to leave.
Nina
I was giving him up, letting him go. It didn’t matter what my heart wanted. That organ couldn’t control my emotions. Christian had violated. His pregnant mistress coming to my house crossed every line, boundary, and rule. It was the disrespect for me. She could have him. I was releasing him back into the street from whence he had come. Now, here was another man promising me forever. Could I trust him? I didn’t know, but whatever grip he had on me wasn’t letting go.
Seth
Even as a lawyer, it wasn’t every day I encountered a woman destroying her fiancée’s car. I already knew what was going on. She didn’t have to say it. Somebody had royally screwed up, and she was making him pay the price. The problem was, I couldn’t just walk away. There was something about her. It could have been her pain calling me, or it could have been the fact that something was telling me she was meant to be mine.
This book was disappointing. The premise was good and I liked the story well enough. However, it only gets 1☆ from me, firstly, there are a lot of grammatical errors and mistakes which I can't abide, it really spoils my enjoyment of reading it so the book lost a star for that. Secondly, the use of certain words, like Hoe and Nigga which I despise and Nina and her friends practically talking a foreign language at times causing another lost star. I did really like the two main characters, Nina and Seth though, so they are the reason it gets 1☆. Clean up the grammar and vocabulary issues and this potentially could be a 3+☆
This story line was great but the constant grammatical errors as well as rushed scenes was not it for me. However, I must say that i wouldn’t be writing this author off, I’d definitely look to see if there is any growth.
I’m sorry, if you call me and tell me to have my connects release someone from jail that I don’t know, I have very damn reason to ask who and why. Seth gots some damn nerves. Noah good bc I would’ve reined his ass I.
Seth seem cold describing the relationship with his ex wife. No wonder she cheated
“I moved my hand to the side, allowing her to move in front of me as we walked toward my car. My hand naturally landed on her back. She tensed slightly from my touch, but I didn't remove my hand. I wanted the connection. Eventually, she would become comfortable with my presence in her life. I had already made up my mind that I wasn't going anywhere.” Um, eww. So far I’m not feeling Seth at all. I like that he helped out Nina but that’s about it.
Nina calling Kimberly’s baby a bastard but her baby would’ve been a bastard too. 🤔
Damm. Christian stfu and leave. Even I want to beat his ass
I’m really digging how Seth quietly has Nina’s back. I thought he was going to be overbearing and pushy but he’s holding his corner.
Christian is a damn fool.
Wait Seth went from “I don’t want to tell my bros the details bc that’s Nina’s biz and secret to tell.” To breaking it all the way down for them 2 months later. 😩
There was a surprisingly slow build up to Seth and Nina. I ended up liking Seth more than I thought I would. And his family all seemed mad cool. Loved Nina’s friends, Imani and Lee are crazy and funny
I have read several of Ms. Williams’ stories but this is the first one where I laughed throughout. When her fiancé’s pregnant girlfriend comes to her home to give her the 411, Nina is understandably devastated…..she takes matters in her own hand and destroys his expensive car. Watching the carnage is Seth, a high powered lawyer, he swoops in and takes care of all the details Nina did not consider. Bailing her out of jail and giving her shelter, who couldn’t love a man like this? Her fiancé does not go quietly into the night….instead he keeps trying for forgiveness. This is easily my favorite story by this author. Set to the backdrop of Nina’s hilarious thoughts on cheating and an awesome “soundtrack”, this story satisfies. I did note some minor errors…..wrong names and wrong words. ARC readers, come on!
This has become one of my favorite books. I just love Nina and Seth. I have already read this book twice and it'll definitely be on my favorite book carousel. Nina was the perfect character because she was a professional woman who knew how to handle her business. She handled the situation with Kimberly very classy and dished out her destruction to Christian ( who undoubtedly deserved so much more). Seth was there with Nina at her lowest and he fell in love with her at first sight. Everything afterwards was destiny. I loved Nina's friends Imani ( hilarious and so real) and Lee ( wise and cautious) and Seth's family was the icing on the cake. Seth's brothers were funny and I liked how close their relationship was. Seth is now my book boyfriend because I loved how he handled things for Nina without taking control over her life. And I jyst loved how Seth handled Christian without getting his hands dirty. Christian was so wrong in how he was going to marry Nina and keep all his dirt a secret. I'm glad Nina trusted Seth at her lowest point in life because that allowed her to experience so much love, peace and joy with Seth, her husband and daughters. I loved the ending just as much as I loved the entire story.
3.5 ⭐⭐⭐💫 I like to read these sweet little love stories. No drama between the love interests but some messy other woman drama with her ex.
Pros -Strong h. Nina wasn't wishy washy and stood up for herself. -Sweet H. Seth was definitely in instalove but he was just so patient and understanding towards Nina. Their relationship was really cute. -Loved Nina's friends and Seth's brothers. They added some laughs
Cons -The characters didn't have their own voices and all spoke the same way. Especially an issue with Nina and Seth who have very different backgrounds. -Quite a bit of errors. Missing words, wrong words used, etc. -Some scenes were rushed or talked about after but not included in the story. Ex: I would have like to have read about the dinner party instead of them talking about it the next day. Same with the parents anniversary party. I wanted to know how family and friends interacted with the MCs instead of just hearing that everyone just loved them instantly. Even the stuff with her ex and the other woman felt a bit rushed.
While I did enjoy this read, the MCs are almost a little too "perfect" so they felt like they lacked some depth. I will be checking out more from this author though.
I loved the storyline and the characters. 4.5 Stars.
When Nina’s world came crashing down, Seth was there to help her put the shattered pieces of her heart back together. I like that the heroine was strong, successful, and emotionally stable. And Seth was that rare breed of sensitive alpha. They had a great support system, a loving and accepting group of family and friends.
There were quite a few editing errors that briefly distracted from the story, but they were more of a nuisance than anything else because I still got the point.
I read a few negative reviews (which is why I took so long to read this book) about the main characters having similar sounding internal dialogues but I don’t see the problem. They were both educated so that was to be expected. I remember my research papers in grad school sounding similar to my friends’.
What did bother me was not being part of crucial moments like the dinner or introductions by the parents. That irked me.
But the story had way more positives than negatives, so I only removed half a star.
Poor Nina had to endure the ultimate form of disrespect, when a woman appears at her doorstep claiming her fiance! She was devastated and rightfully so, but more than that she was pissed! She grabs her bat and is ready to tear his ish up! While doing the deed, Seth is silently watching, and is very amused. He wonders what in the hell did this person do to make the beautiful woman so angry. When she is in need of an assist, he steps right in and helps her. He is smitten and drawn to her, right at that moment. While helping her diffuse her anger, and get away from the situation, he throws her another lifeline. Seth! He is just the perfect man! Does everything and then some to try and help Nina put her life back together. The chemistry between them was at a slow smolder, but it heats up quickly. They are so good together. I loved Nina's girls. They were hysterical. I really enjoyed this one! Great job! 👍👍👍
This book was the joy that the morning brings. The author wrote African- American women that weren’t just cliches and one dimensional. Bravo for her. It wasn’t messy unhealed emotionally in bondage to the “strong back female” stereotype. The conversation over Waiting to Exhale was enlightening. As a Black woman I appreciate her character’s having more depth than so many other writers give them. This is the first of her books I have read. I look forward to reading more and actually going to buy this book not just borrow it from the Kindle library. I want to support her in hopes that we get to watch her grow through her books and we get to grow with her as she opens up more space for Black women in romance literature !
But I have to agree with the other readers that you need an editor because the mistakes do take away from this beautiful work, it make the reader stop an read out loud to correct the flow to understand where you are taken the reader. Please rework the story an give it back to us the readers to read for the book was funny an emotional, for you can almost feel Nina pain but you got to fix the sentences to get there, please you got a great story that can start a series. You got two brothers that we the readers want to see match up an one friend of Nina that don't have a man p!us we want to know how did Lui and King got married ok that one sounds like it would be a fun read. Thank you. 😊😊. Happy reading
OK this was better than the last one. I really thought that Christian was Nina forever in the first series. This one blows it up, I applauded Nina and Seth watch her, then didn’t stop. It showed right there he was a ride or die brother. I was in my mid 50 when I got a divorce, no one to sit around and get drunk with, and no one came to my rescue later when he thought I owed him, rape was the next step. Thank God for counselor’s, I’m still healing, but I have been able to move on. I still have good days and bad, but more good days now. Funny thing my ex is trying to get back with me, (🤬nope not happening) I really enjoyed this, I think this one was the best, headed to the next one.
I LOVE this book. Seth was absolutely dreamy. Nina was fire!!!!! I love that black women were written like black women. I know we are not a monolith but often in interracial books, the bw authors write the bw like they aren't bw. We have a cultural identity that folks shy away from playing into respectability politics. Nina & her friends felt real & familiar. This story was funny as hell, sexy, romantic, & beautiful. It worth a re-read. That's how good it is. You didn't run away from addressing the racial aspect which too many books do. It's so well written. I'm on my way to read another one of your books. Sis you put your foot in this one.
Loved, loved this book! Although there were quite a few errors, I still gave it 5 stars. I wanted to know what happened with Christian. He was really an arrogant person and now having 2 baby mama’s, no job because Seth was forcing him to resign over the pics that were dug up, especially with Christian having sex with Seth’s godfather’s wife! There were so many touching spots, but I really loved Seth’s proposal to Nina. “From the moment I saw you, you’ve been it for me. You’re every country song that spoke of forever. Seeing you smile is the highlight of my day. I can’t imagine traveling down this road with anyone but you…..” They had twin girls!
Nina and Seth are cute. He's on her side from meet and helps her out tremendously after she finds out her fiance got another woman pregnant. From there, Nina heals before Seth makes his move and the rest is pretty much settled. It's over much too quickly and Nina and Seth sounded too much alike. For them to have different backgrounds, it makes no sense for their inner dialogue to be so identical. Seth was too perfect, said all the right things in all the right ways which wasn't really believable. There was a lot of repetitious information as well as grammar, and spelling errors.
No lie, this one hits home. Reliving those memories doesn't hurt like it used to. I thought I was going to die from my experience of heart break and broken dreams. BUT with healing comes new opportunities and new love. This was a slow burn of healing, a journey through self appreciation and letting love through the door without fear. Mr. Seth is everything a women needs and will want in her life. Love this story. Can't wait for Imani's, hopefully it's with one of Seth's brothers....lawd nothing like a book with grown men exuding sexiness. Lol.
Ughh. I'm gonna ignore the cringe moment when he came to her "rescue" at the beginning with the belief that the police would hurt her. If the hero went on the U.S gun memorial site, he would quickly be disabused of the belief that police were black women's predator #every6hours. But anyway... why did the hero (can't remember his name) sound black? His thought process and vernacular seemed like that of a black person's. I couldn't quite get into the story because of that. It was entertaining though.
From the beginning of this book to the end, I enjoyed Nina and Seth. What stood out to me was even through betrayal, heartache, pain and self-doubt at times, Nina knew her worth and stayed true to herself even as Christian kept up his manipulations. Seth was impressive because instead of trying to control the situation, he allowed Nina to work though what she needed to work through, while still being her safe place to land.
The 4 stars are do to several editing issues that while not overly distracting, were very annoying.
Fate placed them together when she was at her worst... Seth was Nina's saving grace. From day one, Seth 's instinct and protectiveness was calling out to Nina, which infuriated Christian... Now, Christian is what gives men bad reputation... Whatever happened to him and Kimberley anyway? Did they make it? A follow up is much needed! I love Seth, he knows what he wants and go after it with patience and determination. Nice read!!
So I was wondering if Renee Williams actually knew me. So much of the drama of my life was in this book it was ridiculous.Nina is a good woman who doesn't deserve the mess her ex put her through. Seth is that man that everyone wishes would ride in on that white horse and rescue them. It wasn't hard to love this couple. This was my first book by this author but it will not be my last. The comedy was off the chain, the issues were real, and the love will felt.
This was a great book. Although a fast read, the storyline and characters were well developed. Nina and Seth met when she was at an all-time low. Seth understood her predicament because he experienced something similar in his past life. Those conflicts created an unseen bond between them. Once everything was out in the open, it allowed them to build something new and lasting.
I would have given this 5 stars, but it needed a bit of editing. Good story. I liked that the story didn’t include a major argument between the main characters This story is a Jazmin Sullivan song in a novel. Funny way to meet. I really liked these characters. One thing though, I didn’t like that she was physical with her ex. I don’t advocate putting your hands on anyone; that can be an invitation for someone to put their hands on you.
This was so cute and refreshing albeit quick but still good. I want so much more if Seth and Nina it’s not even funny and to top it off this is my favorite genre being written, I was in heaven as soon as Seth was described. Oh lawd gave mercy on me!!!! In any case it was superb and Christian deserved everything that hurricane Seth produced. This was good….
Omg, what a love story. I love this book. If only every heartbroken woman of the world could find a Seth as their savior after a devastating breakup. I also loved the interracial relationship. Wow, Seth was an amazing man. He was so smooth and loving. He loved himself some Nina. Their love for each other was awesome, they were so connected. And in both books, my favorite is Imani. She’s a character, I love her spirit.
Didn't know I could ever love you more than I did But, baby, I do I don't love you like I used to
From the beginning to the end and all in between. Front, back and center he had her back. There are typos in here but for me it didn’t subtract from the story. I love that they didn’t just jump right into a relationship, they became friends, he waited patiently for her to heal. I’ve read this book before but wanted to reread it.
Nina was done being used by ex, Christian and destroyed his much beloved vehicle. Seth watched and knew that Nina was done wrong by the owner of this vehicle with the way she was destroying it.
Enjoyed the story, it was solid and realistic. Liked Nina and Seth together and found the ending likable. Please have someone double check or edit your finished copy for spelling errors, grammar and too many repeats. Otherwise a very nice read
Nina's experience is heartfelt and heartbreaking but it didn't destroy her. Seth is right there to love her past her pain. Christian is arrogant and thought he could do whatever but he lost his gold playing in the copper field. I'm happy that Nina didn't let him make her bitter but only better. She is still the prize while he is a lesson. Fate intervened when it was supposed to.
This is storyline that anyone can relate to. I enjoy all the different emotions from start to finish. I give it four stars because of mistakes, missing words, repetitive words etc. I had to reread it few things to make sense of what the author was trying to convey. All in all I enjoyed the funny parts and the sad.
Sad, encouraging and sometimes funny describes this story. Like Seth, I believe fate played a part in his and Nina's meeting. Things were supposed to happen as they did. I am also sure that Christian now knows what is done in the dark eventually comes to the light. An enjoyable read!
