The Day I Met My Soul

Rate this book
Tye “Swoon” Betelli is at the height of his career, an illustrator for a top rated animated show on a major network. From the outside looking in, Swoon appears to have it all—a beautiful, aspiring actress for a girlfriend, Ciara, for the past five years and a six-figure salary. When not working, he’s either freelancing or volunteering at his brother Rome’s community center as a guest speaker or art teacher. He and Rome couldn’t be any closer despite them being like night and day.

While Rome doesn’t mind spreading himself around when it comes to dating, Swoon is quite comfortable being a one woman’s man, that is, until he learns that Ciara has checked out of the relationship, labeling him boring and predictable.

Life as Swoon knew it soon changes when he meets a struggling single mother—Sanniyah Seacaster. Sanniyah and Ciara have something in common as Sanniyah is a struggling actress herself. Landing a few gigs, however, are never enough when raising a child alone. Used to moving around, she and her son take a leap and try a new city. What Sanniyah never imagined though besides landing a new job was her discovering that love just might be waiting in the wings for her.

The only problem is two men are interested in her—Swoon and Rome. Will Sanniyah fall prey to Rome, the outgoing, charismatic ladies’ man or will she give Swoon a try, the one fresh out of a relationship trying to do something new, different, and unpredictable?

Sanniyah is a struggling single mother trying to hold it together, literally. When she runs into Swoon while on a job interview, she's guarded, and mean to him. Deciding she doesn't need the distraction. But Swoon isn't easily deterred. He's determined to get Sanniyah's attention. There's just one problem, he isn't the only one with his eyes on Sanniyah, his brother Rome has her in his crosshairs as well.

I really enjoyed this story. It was contemporary with just enough drama to make sure you stay interested. The storyline held my attention from the beginning to the end. Sue Lui was hilarious and stole the show. I also liked Casper, Sanniyah's son. He was cute and didn't play about his momma.

Good storytelling

The story was a nice read with a pretty dope couple. I like it best when the female is very independent and goes after her own bag- not looking for a handout from her man. A man who saw this amazing woman as a prize, and cherished her; that was Swoon. Sanniyah is who I want to be when I grow up. Little Casper was the sweetness factor in this story. I hope big brother Rome's story is next. 4.75 stars

Soulmate

Albeit slow paced, this was a good read nonetheless.

I was a bit confused about the relationship between Tye 'Swoon' Betelli and his ex, Ciara. He seemed to have checked out of the relationship years before he actually leaves, yet he continues to make it very easy for her to be in his space, at any given time. He knows how manipulative she can be, yet he continues to do something for her families event, pays all her bills (even though she's a grown a** woman who could do it herself), and even agrees to shop with her despite him not wanting to. I get helping someone, especially one whom you've shared a life with for a number of years, yet I kept feeling like he was holding onto her for some crazy reason. Ciara was the epitome of Gold-digger; she let her friends, whom were probably single, mess up her relationship, because she was too weak to be forthcoming with him. I didn't like her, not on iota 😒.

Sanniyah Seacaster was a single mother just trying to do right by her son and provide him with a stable life. I liked her hustle. I liked the fierce protection her 7 year old son was always willing to provide (so cute). Even though she was a bit rude, I'm glad she let her walls down for Swoon and told him the truth of her friendship with his brother Rome, whom she had no idea was his brother.

Rome Betelli was a whole fool. I liked his protectiveness for his brother; a straight shooter, no nonsense ways. He was a player for sure, straight ladies man, yet he was kind and caring. His drive for the kids in his community was heartwarming. I liked that his community center made sure to help all the kids, not just those who could afford it. I'm very glad he realized he didn't stand a chance with Sanniyah, and gave her sound advice when it came to his brother Swoon.

Overall, this was a good read.

Such a cute story

Well, looks like I found a new author to look out for. This was such a cute story from beginning to end. I really enjoyed following the love connection of Sanniyah and Swoon. Can't wait to see if the brother gets a story. Maybe Coara will get herself together and they can have a happily every after, if it that is messy.

I wanted more

This was a slow burn, but ended so quickly. I wasn't ready. I definitely wanted more.

Sanniyah was a self professed nomad, mother, and struggling actor. She once again found herself running and she hoped it was towards some stability for herself and her son. She was a mother bear that did her best to provide her son Casper with basic necessities all while trying to nurture his gifts. He was a sweet kid with a protective streak just like his mother. The day they ran into Swoon, they were both changed.

Swoon was a good man. He had hit a stride in his career and happily took care of his family. He had recently parted ways with his girlfriend of five years after catching her throw dirt on his name. She seemed to be just using him for the comfortable life he showered her with. He finally reached his breaking point and left her in hopes of eventually finding someone that would appreciate what he brought to the table. While was running from his old life he ran right into Sanniyah and was immediately mesmerized.

She felt their spark, but had no time for it. The majority of the story is spent with Swoon chasing Sanniyah trying to get her to give them a chance. Casper accepted his friendship first. When Sanniyah finally decided to stop running from Swoon the story ends. It was just getting good...ugh. I wish more time would have been spent on them as a couple and little family. The ending just felt rushed.

Overall I definitely enjoyed the characters and the story itself.

Good read

Sunny and Swoon needed each other and it was right on time. I liked their chemistry and how it was a build up. Rome was trying hunny but it wasn't meant to be. Alot of cat and mouse but I'm glad she finally stopped running and found her soul mate.

Cute

A cute read, with a little drama. I enjoyed reading this story, the characters, the chase, and the unnecessary jealousy.

Hey soul!

Nice story. The chase was starting to wear me down...never-ending! I dislike when the story is over when they finally get together...ugh! How be ever, I liked the characters evolution.

The Day I Met My Soul felt warm. Swoon is the kind of man who looks solid on paper and in real life. Somehow he's quietly unraveling when the life he thought he was building starts slipping through his fingers. Getting labeled boring when you’ve been loyal and consistent will mess with anyone’s head. I liked seeing him try to figure out who he is outside of being predictable.

Sanniyah had that firecracker energy that makes people orbit her. A single mom just trying to keep it together, chasing a dream while protecting her baby with everything she has. Casper stole the show for me. That little boy was clocking vibes like a grown man and Leggo being on guard duty at all times just made it better. That household was love, survival and determination all wrapped into one.

Okayyyyyyyyy Sanniyah brothers falling for the same woman is diabolical but out of her control. Rome and Swoon being complete opposites made the tension even richer. The right man well as she stated the only choice won.

This book had me smiling but it was also full of real life pressure, quiet heartbreak and choices that don’t come with easy answers. It was sweet, stressful and surprisingly comforting all at once. Definitely one of those reads that just sits nicely in your chest.

Sanniyah, a self-proclaimed nomad, had hit another rut where she needed to run. She was an independent, no nonsense, fiesty single mother who didn't take ish from anyone! Taking care of her son Casper was her only objective in life. Swoon, such a cool dude, working and just living life, until his ungrateful girl pushed him over the edge. When Swoon literally ran into Sanniyah, he was mesmerized by her beauty. However, Sanniyah was annoyed as hell, and ready to beat his ass! 😂 He tried to take the edge off by replacing what he ruined, but she would not be bought by any man! The cat and mouse game was cute, as they both grew to care for the other; without even knowing much at all. I was worried for a minute, thinking that Rome would come in and get the girl. But, I was happy to see that Swoon did everything other than what was expected to win Sanniyah. Hope that Rome has a story next! Good job! 👍👍👍

Overall, this was a good read I enjoyed it. The character development and conflict were well executed. I did want more once the actual relationship blossomed. It would have been great to read interactions between Sanniyah, Casper, and Tye as a family unit. Sanniyah and Casper deserved all of the love coming from being with a man that adored them. Tye were serious about capturing Sanniyah's heart and soul. The mere fact, Casper and Tye shared the same likes and pastimes were quite ironic as well.

This is a fantastic read. You will enjoy the characters, especially the two brothers. You will also get into the work family of Tye. Your heart will go out to Sanniyah and Casper's situation. I loved how the author made sure Sanniyah succeeded because she really climbed from a valley to a mountain after meeting Tye. You should download and indulge, you won't be disappointed.

Flawed but likeable

There were some bumps in the road on this for me but I found it an enjoyable read, overall. It seemed to go off on mini tangents at times; some stuff seemed very random or thrown in; Swoon pursued Sanniyah (I hope I spelled that right) thinking she was involved and they jumped to doing what they did at his parent's after she was being stubborn and difficult (often just straight mean) throughout the whole story? It felt a tad rushed and not developed very well. There wasn't much character development at all, really, to me.

We didn't even see where Swoon broached the whole Fireball thing to her; he talked about it a few times, it became less of his priority, and then boom, she was it at the end. I just felt like the story/ writing could been tightened up more.

Despite that, I still liked the story overall.

Swoon x Sanniyah

It may have just been me, but these two just seemed all over the place. You broke up with your longtime gf because she says you're predictable, but you let her stay in the house. Also, do we know why Sanniyah moved besides financial reasons ? She didn't have a job waiting on her, but she uprooted her child for the unknown. This may just be me, but I also didn't understand the role Rome played in any of this. Especially because Sanniyah was being stubborn & standoffish with both of them. Even tho I didn't really connect with this story, I'm still happy that it all seemed to worked out for all parties involved.

Loving Souls

Sanniyah is a single struggling mom needing a fresh start. So she packs up her son Casper and dog Leggo, setting out for a new life in a new city. Swoon is an illustrator pulling in a six-figure salary and prospering in his career. But his personal life…not so much.
After ending a five year relationship with his live-in girlfriend, he too is looking to start afresh.

Who knew a raggedy sneaker and a stubbed toe would set them on a path to love.

The Day I Met My Soul, is a quick read but quite satisfying. And I just love Casper! Kudos Author Tisha Andrews.

Sweet!

Being a avid reader of Tisha Andrews books, I must say that she embraced this story differently. The storyline and tone was very good. Swoon was the man in this story. Even though it took him years to finally see the type of person Ciara was, he stepped out of her life and stayed GONE! Sanniyah was shielded and didn't trust anyone, but finally let her guards down and let Swoon in. I was so glad when they got together. Great work Fish's Andrews, and please continue with something for Rome. He was a cool big brother.

I want more!

I read the book about the brother Rome before reading about Swoon. My only issue about this book is that I wanted more. Just when Swoon paired up with Sanniyah, it quickly ended. I loved their chemistry and their internal battles within themselves eventually coming to the revelation that they were for each other. I am glad Rome did not entangled himself with that. This was a good read that could have added so much more. Oh and Casper was adorable and Sue Lui was hilarious.

Great Read

This standalone was good from beginning to the end. I was so glad that Sanniyah let her guard down and gave Swoon a chance. Swoon, had been labeled as predictable, but a chance meeting he stepped outside his comfort zone. With Sanniyah, he became unpredictable, and tried something new. That led to him meeting his soulmate. They both deserved love and happiness. Highly recommend this standalone. Great job Tisha Andrews.

👍🏽🤣

I enjoyed the story and the characters.
This was my first read by the author and she didn’t disappoint. I laughed at times and smiled at times. I wonder if there’s a story with Rome finding his soul 👀. But I enjoyed the dynamic between swoon and his stepfather. That was nice to see. I like the black love dynamic from swoons mom and dad and how they love blossomed as well. Will be reading more ❤️

I loved the story but the transitions in conversations seemed a bit scattered at times. I loved the relationship and maturity between Swoon & Rome and the support of their step father. The irony of Ciara's unappreciativeness and the blinders that she adorned with her designer clothes while telling her man that she was bored forcing him to do something different---break up with her and find his soul mate--is hilarious to me and the best kind of karma!

Insta hot, insta sweet!

I love a great love story. And this is one of them. Sanniyah is a single mom struggling to make a new life for her and her son. By chance she meets Tye. Tye instantly becomes smitten with Sanniyah and her son, and the chase begins. The Day I Met my Soul is a sweet insta romance that really made me smile.

Sneakers it is!!!

Yess!! Swoon found his forever in Sanniyah. I really enjoyed reading this story. Loved the Asian lady messing up Sanniyah name, you could tell she really liked her. Shoutout to Roman for backing away when he saw how much Swoon cared for Sanniyah. Now the little family can ride off into the sunset!!!

Whew

What started off as new beginnings to strangers, Swoon and Sanniyah, turned into a forever. I was nervous with both brothers fee!ing the same girl, but neither said a name or even went into details about said girl.
I loved the relationship they had with their father. Great story

The Day I Met My Soul ❤❤❤

I enjoy reading this book love the title.
Tye aka Swoon job I found interesting I don't believe I've ever read of an illustrator. Swoon was very generous and kind. Sanniyah is a single mom taking care of her son Casper. A chance meeting changes both of their lives in the best way possible.

Cute

Very cute story. I'm glad the right brother got the girl but I will say that I'm mad that Swoon just fled the scene without saying anything though. If that's your girl then say that!!! Loved the characters.

Loved it

I enjoyed this story and how Swoon stepped out of his comfort for Sanniyah. I did not like Ciara at all, she was the definition of a gold digger. Now I need Rome’s story and I should be his love interest. 😂

This story is a good one

This story sucks you in and gets you invested from the first chapter. Swoon definitely lived up to his nickname because he had me swooning at times. Sanniyah definitely irked at times even with understanding why she was hesitant on love.

Swoon For Me

This is a story of a Scorned man, very unusual start. Boys that are raised by a Great man usually make great men. So we see how Rome and Swoon had a male figure to show them how to treat a woman. This book touched my soul. It was so good. Great job Tisha.

Very Good

Very good book. Saneanyah was trying to take care of her son when she ran into Swoon. Swoon knew Nyah was meant to be firebel the character he was creating. He believe Nyah was his soul mate. Happy Nyah allowed Swoon to love her.
