It Might Be Hot

Rate this book
After another disappointing breakup, Lachlan is tired of dating all the wrong women. Even though he’s straight, his curiosity starts to get the better of him. What would it be like to be with his gay best friend, Alessandro?

Lachlan

I’m sick of wasting my time with women who love my money more than me. The only person who has ever cared about me and not my fortune is my flirtatious best friend, Alessandro. We always joke about me switching teams when I get bored with being straight, but lately, I’ve stopped laughing it off and started considering it as a very tempting possibility.

After breaking up with another gold-digging girlfriend, why shouldn’t I cheer myself up by having a little sexy fun with Alessandro? After all, it might be hot, right?

Alessandro

I’ve always had to joke about my attraction to Lachlan, because I know he’ll never take my feelings seriously when he's straight. But he shockingly asks me to show him what he’s been missing by only being with women. This is my big chance to convince him that there could be more between us than just friendship. How can I say no if it will make my dreams come true?

If he wants me to show him a good time, I’m more than happy to teach him a lesson about why I can be more to him than the women who don’t deserve him. But can I make him fall in love with me for real?

'It Might Be Hot' is the first book in the Suntastic Fun duet. This novella features a friends to lovers, bisexual awakening, no angst romance. If you love cute sweetness, sexy fun, and scorching-hot banter that will make you laugh and swoon, you’ll adore this satisfying HEA without cliffhangers. Each book can be read as a standalone but is best enjoyed in order.

'It Might Be Hot' was originally published as 'Like It’s Hot' for the Red Hot Summer M/M giveaway. A new epilogue has been added for publication.

The “Jessa Kane” of MM Romance

This was better than I expected and everything my slumpy ass got a break from 🙏

For such a short book, the absolute divine communication between our MC's was just 🤧

With him, I didn’t have to worry about that, which was arousing in its own right. I could be as filthy as I wanted with him without consequence, because he had always accepted me as I was.

Four friends, two gays, two heterosexuals.
What a cliché, right?
The two gay friends are in love with the two hetero ones.
But the hetero may not be so hetero after all…
This is the story of Lachlan and Alessandro.

The writing was very perfunctory, there's no plot, angst or character development. The sexuality awakening was completely unbelievable. The attitudes towards women are not ideal, the main theme being that women are evil harpies just using the MC for money.

The only semi-redeeming point for me was the sloppy, dirty sex.

I got this as a bundle with book 2 but I'm definitely not reading on.

3.5 ⭐️ Extra spicy MM novella.

This is an MM best friends to lovers novella and, although it's mostly smut, it was so cute.

Alessandro's been half in love with his best friend, Lachlan, since they met. The only problem is that every time he tries to flirt with him, everyone thinks he's just joking around. Also, the fact that Lachlan is super straight and a bit of a manwh0re doesn't help things. When the teasing gets a little too on the nose, Lachlan decides to go 'the f*ck around and find out' route... literally.

The whole 'exploring your sexuality and falling in love with your bestie' angle is not new, but I really liked it. I didn't, however, like the implication that being into anal means your somehow gay, and that women, in general, think it's gross... That was pretty ridiculous. If it wasn't because it made it feel like the author needed to trash every women Lachlan's had sex with before in order to make Alessandro more appealing, this would've been a 4 star read for sure.

This would be the perfect read for a day at the pool, enjoying a little day off somewhere sunny while reading about two hot guys getting it on!

Short but steamy read - really steamy.
Lachlan gives in to his curiosity about being with his gay best friend. Goes from zero to a hundred quickly but it's fun.

Super short and super hot. I love a good erotic novella and this one delivers. Got weirdly fluffy at the end, but overall was good.

I was looking for a quick, easy, low angst read and know that this author has great stories for this mood so decided to read this story. It was a lot different than I was expecting and was all spice and no plot but it worked for the mood I was in. It might have been a tad unrealistic but I went with it and enjoyed Alessandro and Lachlan’s story! I enjoyed both characters and recommend if you’re in the mood for a short, spicy read that requires no thinking!!

It Might Be Hot, the first book in Ariella Zoelle’s Suntastic Fun series, definitely lives up to its name. Full of scene after scene of explicit male on male content, this book was a quick read that couldn’t have possibly fit any more bedroom shenanigans on the page. However, if you’re looking for a book with plot or character development, this may not be the book for you.

Alessandro has been hitting on Lachlan, his straight best friend, for years, always joking about showing him a good time. But until now, Lachlan has been strictly about the ladies. Until he wasn’t. Now all bets are off as Lachlan comes to terms with these urges and desires he’s always kept secret. Luckily, Alessandro is more than happy to fulfill Lachlan’s every fantasy and explore his newly realized bisexual orientation.

I did enjoy the sexy scenes between Alessandro and Lachlan; I just found the book a bit lacking in terms of typical story building or plot devices like conflict. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying stories that are more action than substance, so if that’s your thing, you will likely find little issue with It Might Be Hot. I would, however, be hard-pressed to truly categorize something like It Might Be Hot as romance since it lacks the typical plot elements of the romance genre, like conflict and resolution. I also really wish there was more character development in this story. For something sold as a bisexual awakening, Lachlan had very little, if any, internal conflict over realizing he found his best friend’s body attractive. Bisexual awakenings usually mean exploring the fluidity or sexuality, and while Alessandro mentioned it, there was a great missed opportunity to develop Lachlan’s character. Instead, despite the bisexual awakening, Lachlan was the same character from beginning to end.

There was a lot of potential to Alessandro and Lachlan’s story. Their bedroom and shower romps were definitely hot. I unfortunately just wish there was more actual romance and plot, as well as more gravitas to Lachlan’s bisexual awakening. A sexy novella, It Might Be Hot is perfect for anyone looking for a quick, sexy M/M read with an emphasis on the spice.

I received this book from Gay Romance Reviews Tours in exchange of an honest review.

So of course I had to go for an ARC when I had the chance. I just love Ariella Zoella’s work (she writes some good sex scenes and hot couples you want to root for) and I was excited for this summery sexy read. It was very sexy I can tell you that. Haha. XD I am still fanning myself and it’s been hours since I finished the book.

Meet Alessandro, a sweet gay dude who is hot for his best friend Lachlan. Lachlan meanwhile is pretty much straight. Well, until this sexy evening in which he takes up Alessandro’s offer that Alessandro has been making for years apparently. The guy never gives up! I loved the bond between the two guys and I was pretty hyped to see them connect on a whole new sexy level. It was fun to see that while Alessandro is the gay one… it seems Lachlan also has some very hot tricks up his fingers and tongue.

It was great that we saw two sides to the story. We see both Alessandro and his confusing blend of emotions and Lachlan who is figuring out that being with a guy.. is well very hot.

I also loved the two other characters and I hope to see them in later books.

I did think it was odd that, the sex scenes were all condom free. I mean, no. Just no. You may not get pregnant no, good boy, but do you know that condoms also stop other things… And since you don’t know if your bestie is all that clean.. and if you are clean (given your womaniser ways)… I would recommend doing a test first, and maybe discuss ditching condoms after. Not just stuff your dick inside something without knowing if you may get something or not.

Also, while I did love that the two guys got together, I don’t see that as a spoiler as I got that from the start and I knew it would be HEA, it was just too rushed. I mean, the guys have HOT sex for a couple of pages and then suddenly BOOM relationship. I am happy that he isn’t throwing labels on himself and that he was open to exploring this whole thing a bit more, but it just felt too soon, unbelievably soon. I wanted a happy ending yes, but I would rather have had an epilogue and read that they had some experimenting, some talks, and then decided to get together.

But besides those two things I had tons of fun reading this one and I wouldn’t mind it being a bit longer. I cannot wait for the next Suntastic Fun books!

Okay! Cute. With this reading slump I'm in and all this extra time I've found myself with, I hoped reading novellas would slowly get me out of this slump and I'd say it's working decently!
This was cute. I always enjoy reading about a character that just accepts their sexuality. A little quick in terms of the transition from friends to lovers, but cute nonetheless

“I’m so turned on I can’t think straight.” “In my general experience, thinking straight is entirely overrated.”

(ESP) Difícil que una novela resulte repetitiva pero con voluntad todo puede lograse supongo.
Quería algo breve y liviano y lo encontré. Nada más.

(ENG) It's hard for a novella to be repetitive, but I think anything is possible.
I was looking for something short and light, and that's exactly what I found. Nothing more.

Working my way through the rest of Ariella Zoelle's works (these ones aren't in her Sunnyside universe). Next up is her Suntastic Fun series. The first novella is "It Might Be Hot."

SO. FUCKING. CUTE! I can't. D: There was so much fluff and sexual perfection. It was easy, so fucking easy. Granted, 75% of this novella was straight-up (or gay as hell) fucking. But it was just...simple, and they clicked. They wanted the same things (sexually, of course--but they are best friends, so they have the other % of life already figured out (romantic speeches included)).

It Might Be Hot was a short and steamy, friends to lovers, bi-awakening story!

Lachlan and Alessandro are best friends. For the past six years, Alessandro has been in love with Lachlan, but his revolving door of women constantly discourages him. He tries to hide his feelings behind his constant flirting and teasing, but every failed attempt just makes him lose more hope.

One random afternoon, after another break-up, things take a turn. The teasing of Alessandro, along with their friends Callahan and Baxley, makes Lachlan seriously consider Alessandro's propositions. And the more he thinks about it, the more he wants to take a chance on him.

Once they get going, it's just non-stop action. From the second they kiss, Lachlan loses all hesitations and takes the lead. Over the course of the night and the next morning, Lachlan realizes his feelings go far deeper than just sex.

Since this was a novella, we didn't get a whole lot of background on the couple. But they had plenty of chemistry and their connection was undeniable. The only thing that really bothered me about this story was the over the top flirting. Bax and Alessandro have feelings for Callahan and Lachlan, respectively. And they're constantly making moves against them. Though it is mentioned multiple times that they're very open about their sex lives with each other, there's a very fine line between flirting and harassment, and there were moments where it felt like they were crossing the line.

Apart from that the book was pretty good and I definitely want to read Callahan and Baxley's story. I'd recommend this if you're looking for a friends to lovers novella with plenty of hot moments!

I would have appreciated It Might Be Hot a lot more if the author spared a few sentences to introduce some informations about the MCs right from the beginning instead of scattering them and coming out of left field later in because it would have made their behaviour more realistic.

I get it’s a short story meant to be fun and steamy but the situation build around the sexy encounters is supposed to be reasonably believable for us to focus on the hot parts of it and enjoy the ride instead of examining the strength of the backstory of the MCs and the current situation leading to the sex –which I did.

Also the beginning and the end made me uncomfortable with all the not-secret-at-all allusions to the fact that in each pair of straight x gay best friends (Lachlan x Alessandro & Baxley x Callahan). I mean, man, Alessandro and Callahan almost constantly made sexual advances to their counterparts, physically or verbally, hiding under the pretext that it was an inside joke. Since it’s been years they know each other, I really wonder how the “straight” men put up with them. It was just too much; there is a limit between showing his interest and being coarse.

And let’s not talk about the transition from straight to bisexual to “together till the rest of our lives” in less than a day. They might be best friends but that’s stretching a point to say the least. Boyfriends would have been just fine.

So it’s 3/5 for the hot factor but the story itself is a 2/5 for me. You might not have the same issues as me if you just care about the sex.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

**spoiler alert**

I have really struggled with how to review this book the past few days. It's basically erotica with no real storyline other than they are best friends and one is supposedly straight.

My main issue with this book is the scene in the pool. You have 4 men. Two of those men identify as straight and 2 gay. Both gay men are in love with their straight friend. What seems to start as teasing Lachlan about his play boy status, turns into Lachlan and Callahan being pressured into trying gay sex. I really cringed when Alessandro start feeling up Lachlan. Maybe I missed it, but I don't remember Lachlan giving Alessandro any indication that he was ok with him touching him. The same goes for Baxley and Callahan. OY

Another issue with this book was the amount of times the two have penetrative sex in 24 hours. It's completely unrealistic...even for a power bottom and don't get me started on them forgoing condoms. You literally spent an entire chapter going on and on about how many woman Lachlan had slept with, but it's ok for them to go without a condom because Alessandro is a man and can't get pregnant?!?

Finally, novellas are quick, but we need some sort of character building. We learn that Lachlan is a millionaire, but beyond that, we have no idea who these characters are, etc. Seriously, this really has no business being in romance because there isn't any.

I think this is where I say goodbye to this author.

I received an ARC, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you're wanting a novella with a lot of plot, this probably isn't it. If you're wanting a fun, incredibly steamy short read with a queer awakening and some instalove? Then dive right in because this is what you're looking for.

Alessandro is an openly gay man who has had feelings for his best friend, Lachlan, for a long time. He doesn't fully make this a secret, but lets it be known in a way that seems to be completely joking. Until at a pool party when he says it a little too seriously. Lachlan takes him up on the offer and the two embark in an incredibly wild night of expirementation and crossing every single line of friendship.

It is short, sweet, and incredibly hot. And unlike in some other novellas I've read, I really did feel a connection to both Alessandro and Lachlan. I enjoyed the characters a lot.

What I didn't like was the slight ick I felt about how often Alessandro and their friend Baxley made constant sexual allusions and innuendos to Lachlan and other straight best friend, Callahan, over the years. The fact that it was all played off as a joke doesn't change the slight ick I felt at it, given that the readers know that both men genuinely felt something for the two men they were joking on. It wasn't enough to make me want to close my kindle and look for a different book to read, but it was something that made me enjoy Alessandro's character a little less.

Wow, a short story that goes from zero to sixty in 0.01 seconds.
Lachlan is quick to take his best friend, Alessandro, up on his offer of a good time after breaking up with his latest girlfriend and his friends joking that for some things, a guy is just as good. What neither expect is Lachlan's reaction, both physically and mentally to what they share.
I know this is a short story so everything will happen quickly but I was surprised that all of the developments happen in the space of a day. Despite that, Ariella has again written an enjoyable story that is easy to fall into. It did take me a moment to like Lachlan's character, seeming a bit superficial to start with, but he quickly builds in my estimations as he gets on board with exploration and trusting in what he wants. Alessandro isn't truly selfless when it comes to offering himself to his best friend and my heart went out to him at the longing you can sense from him but things work out pretty great for them both.
Really looking forward to Baxley and Callahan's story next!
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Ariella Zoelle's It Might Be Hot is a VERY steamy short story. One of my all-time favorite tropes is sexual awakening. When the relationship is between best friends, it's only made better, so I was excited for this one.

Looking back at a long line of disappointing encounters/relationships with women, Lachlan is frustrated. So after meeting up with his friends, Lachlan takes his best friend Alessandro up on his offer to show him a good time. Alessandro, who had been mostly teasing, is more than a little happy to take him up on helping him discover his new bisexual label. And oh, how does he show him! It was very bedroom/shower-heavy but quite enjoyable.

I'm looking forward to seeing their other friends' stories.

I did like this story. I'll be honest, though; I wish there had been more plot and character development. This story was the definition of low angst. If you're looking for a short and burning hot read, check this story out.

REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️ It Might Be Hot by Ariella Zoelle is a “ friends to lovers” novella centered around Lachlan, a straight man (or is he?) who has grown bored with women only interested in his money, and Alessandro, his gay best friend who has been attracted to him since day one. Alessandro makes no secret of the fact he wants more with his friend, but for the first time Lachlan finds himself considering it in the realm of possibility. Can one afternoon of experimentation unleash feelings Lachlan has long tried to ignore? It is possible their friendship could become so much more?⠀

What this book lacks in size it more than makes up for in steamy passion. A six year friendship can accumulate lots of blazing sexual energy. There is little or no character development, but is just a simple story of the here and now. The dialogue is peppered with plenty of witty banter between the two characters whose chemistry is explosive. The story in general is cute and sizzling hot, but as a romance it is nothing more than an amuse-bouche. And as with all appetizers you⠀
are left wanting more. ⠀

This is a short streamy story! Best friends to lovers, Bi-awakening and did I mention streamy?! Alessandro and Lachlan are best friends for years, Alessandro has watched Lachlan date woman after woman but never more then a month, Alessandro has always been in love with him but he kept his feelings to himself. Lachlan broken up with his latest girlfriend and he is complaining about being alone, but Alessandro teasing him offers him to give him a hand, because of one of his friends comments Lachlan takes him up on it, but to his surprise their encounter is super hot! Now Lachlan doesn’t want to give up his new feelings for Alessandro and they decided to experiment together. I like their friendship, Lachlan and Alessandro have a great chemistry and Lachlan can fully trust Alessandro that he wants him for who he is and not his money. If you are look for something funny, light and super steamy this book is for you!
