Read this insightful book couple of days back and here's the review :

Living Spirituality by Meetu Bisht will take you on a tour of the world of spirituality.

The what, why, how, where and who of spirituality has been very beautifully explained in the book by the author. People often tend to confuse spirituality with numerous different terms and approaches like religion and philosophy.

This book serves as an informal guide to spirituality, spirit, reincarnation, karma, etc in a very easy language. Being spread through 28 chapters, my main reason for liking the book was it's writing style. Unlike lots in this genre, this book has short chapters which are very well structured. It's not just jam packed with information, its more of a book which provides you tips, an A-Z of self transformation and provides information that is digestible.

The writing style made all the difference to me; I would end up picking this book amidst a lot others of the same genre. It tells us exactly how much one needs to know, neither too much, nor too little. It helps you become a spiritually awake individual, if the reader practices what's told.

Lastly, how can one even ignore that beautiful cover?!

It was an insightful journey that I went on while reading this book and I ended up learning a lot.
Would definitely recommend to those interested in this genre or topic!

Religion, philosophy, and spirituality are some of the key pillars of most human discussions. At some point in life, we all tend to pick either of these for our conversations.

And while spirituality is something that almost all of us lean onto for the greater good of our individual lives, we are mostly unclear about how to approach it.

Living Spirituality by Meetu Bisht attempts to clear the confusion around the enigmatic concept of spirituality. It aims at offering an insightful and rational understanding of the subject to help true seekers in their respective journeys.

Spirituality is essentially the language of the spirit, the beauty of the spirit, the joy of the spirit, the absolute comfort zone that nourishes the spirit.

So while we tend to look for our answers outside, the reality is that everything inside of us is true. The light. The beauty in its purest form.

Divided into 28 chapters, this book breaks down the often misunderstood subject of spirituality for the readers to understand and assimilate its depth. It talks about how spirituality is a way of living and how can we activate it in our daily living. It also sheds light on the challenges that could prevent one from living a spiritually inclined life.

Moving ahead, it encapsulates the A to Z of self-transformation and also lists down 99 attributes of spiritually inclined beings. It made me realise how we can make small shifts in our everyday life and choices to ascend to the higher realm of living life.

I have been on a personal journey of spirituality for quite some time now. This book just proved to be a loving companion in my journey and I am glad that it guided me patiently.

The author has done a wonderful job at talking about the most coveted topic of spirituality in a fairly simple manner. The language is easy as it could get and the takeaways are certainly ones to keep referring to.

If you are even remotely interested in living spiritually, do pick up this comprehensive guide (a self-learning manual of sorts) to reconnect with your inner self and live your magical life!

Whenever it comes to spirituality we started thinking about religion, faith, and Gods. How do you like to know only about the spiritual meaning?

After reading this book I have realized that we do exercise and take good food to make our body healthy and fit but we hardly care about our spirit which is considered as the soul of our body and eternal life being.

Here, the author has penned down her thoughts about how to form an illuminated body with an awakened mind and soul. How to take care of our spirit that directly connect our conscience.

It is such a profound read where I have come to know about spiritual living without involving religious dogmas.

How to form oneness with others through spirituality and get contentment.

Read this book, to dissect the rationale view of spirituality from religious cults and other norms.

"It is a way of being and doing things that are harmonious to the spirit."

As the author has summarised —our conscience is our true connection with the spirit and it is the voice of our soul.

Also, this book talks about idealism and philosophy. How has progressed our culture and what are some great impacts of spirituality in our life.

After reading this book, one thing which I have learnt that to take care of my spirit. This is very fundamental and how to walk on the path of spirituality without any gurus or baba.

I would love to recommend this book to everyone who wants to heal their inner being by formulating the granularity of spiritualism.

"Spirituality is a brave search for the truth about existence, fearlessly peering into the mysterious nature of life."

Elizabeth Lesser.

The above quote does not only put across very aptly, the true meaning of spirituality but also highlights that it is something that is self-taught and inherent, as also portrayed by this book called Living Spirituality by Meetu Bisht.

This piece of writing by Meetu Bisht encompasses fresher, newer concepts with regards to the adaptability of Spirituality, whilst challenging the preset notions, which have been in vogue for years now. An intriguing as well as challenging concept to work upon, the Author Meetu has built a narrative that is not only unique but attempts to muse the topic reasonably well albeit in a non-rebellious, subtle manner.

In today’s era, when there seem to be more than hundreds of Gurus and spiritual motivators attempting to alter and influence our lives, whilst trying to steer them in the right direction, this title comes as a breath of fresh air, owing to its conforming to a non-conventional approach while doing so. True, these Gurus and motivators are attempting to steer and prod us in the right direction, but are they really managing to put us on the right, logical path as far as rationality or spirituality is concerned? Maybe not.

The Author approaches and tries to muse whether we need Spiritual Gurus in the first place to get onto the path of spirituality and also as to how can the gap between spirituality in action and spirituality via words be filled. She also tries to address the differences between spirituality and religion as well as spirituality and escapism. Seeking to achieve spirituality through more practical, logical approaches such as self-transformation, inner calling, self-realization, acceptance, self faith, etc.

Meetu’s approach to achieving spirituality is closer to life and simple unlike other larger than life claims that contrary to the promises made are simply that- empty claims that stand tall.
The language is lucid and the narrative in a complete flow yet having said that even if we were to pick up a random section and explore a complete chapter as a whole it would still resonate out in a manner that would appear as a complete chunk of enlightening information relating to a particular aspect of spirituality.

Apart from building spiritual awareness, this book also enlists the benefits of the same for us. Busting some highly popular myths related to this concept, it tries to highlight ideal spiritual conduct as well as attributes of spiritually inclined people through the narrative. Thus, providing a very neutral and unbiased view of how spirituality can and should be adopted in one’s lifestyles, pursuits, actions, thoughts and relationships, has been summarized through this one.
I especially liked it for its fearless, unbiased as well as rational and logical approach towards the subject matter whilst taking care to not call out against the preset notions with regards to spirituality in a negative light.

To quote Carl Jung, “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”

To emulate it in relation to the above, spirituality, too is something which cannot simply be achieved by following another or his given set of ideologies, rather it is a process of self-evolution and self-actualization whilst getting onto a path that leads one to their true inner calling. That calling is not only practical but also peaceful, one which is relatable as well as followable.

A very good effort at writing closer to life, spot-on musing by Meetu Bisht.

21st Book of 2023

I don’t know why is this a phenomenon that few good books keep sitting in your shelf for months until you pick it up. This has been happening with me since last few years. One such instance is with the book named “Living Spirituality” written by Meetu Bisht. I had got it right when it released but due to some or the other reason, I always kept it aside to be read slowly at the right time in my life. I don’t know if this is it or not, but I have finally completed reading it within 4 short reading cycles of 1.5 hours each. This is a short book written in 200-pages and published by Hay House publication.

The book tries to defy some myth regarding spirituality which has become quite a confusing topic these days because in the age of Internet, we have ended up following multiple spiritual and yoga gurus online. Meetu tries to make us understand how simple being spiritual is. She tries to explain that there’s nothing that we need to do beyond our limits to call ourselves spiritual. She has divided the book in 28 different chapters where each of them tries to speak on one perspective of Spiritualism. There are instances where we get to know about the new perspective whereas there are moments when you completely disagree with the author’s point of view. The goodness in her writing style is that you still don’t hate the book and continue reading it with the same charm and curiosity.

Meetu’s intent is very clear that she wants human to understand that they just have to be their natural inner-self rather than trying to do something extreme in order to be called spiritual. She has been focused on the title of the book and I am amazed how she could talk about it without failing or dwindling even once in 200 pages. Her writing style is very simple which will help even beginners to understand what she is talking about – something which is very difficult for beginners to grasp when they read books on spirituality or philosophies.

Because this book tries to give a new concept of spirituality, it becomes quite difficult to accept few of Meetu’s point of view but I am sure author knew about it while writing. Like, for example, I still don’t agree with her point that meditation doesn’t lead us towards spirituality. I believe it helps us lot in understanding silence and calmness which eventually changes a lot of things within us. Meetu tries to explain us how spirituality is all about our inner-self which already exists. We just need to maintain a lifestyle which helps us understand our core. She emphasizes that no external activity or achievements are needed to unlock spirituality in our life.

Author gives a nice insight upon why we have certain relationships in our life because we have certain Karma to be dealt with. Hence, escaping to some spiritual recourse in a different place does not serve the spiritual purpose as the Karma does not get settled because we don't engage in these karmic transactions. Similarly, she gives a very meaningful aspect of why we need to keep working like a regular person and earn for our bread-and-butter rather than thinking of being at a safe place like mountains etc. She explains how we can be spiritual even while pursuing our regular life.

Author also talks about the fact that until we don't learn from our mistakes, there are certain patterns that will keep repeating in our life and we’ll keep on suffering difficult situations until we don’t learn from it and complete the karmic cycle. By the end of the first half of the book, I was little frustrated regarding author continuously trying to tell us what living spiritually is but not telling us how but the way author has documented her second half of the book – took away all my complaints in a moment. She gives us insight into the detailing of how we can become spiritual by sharing elements like essentials when seeking spiritual growth, hurdles to self-awareness, A-Z of self-transformation, 99 traits of a spiritual person etc. I wished highlighting all the sentences written in these chapters. The 2nd half of the book definitely has repeat-value and everyone should go through it periodically to check if we have improved lately or not.

Overall, this is a light book but with intense capabilities of bringing change within us. I give this book 4.5 stars out of 5. I recommend it to everyone. Meetu Bisht has done a phenomenal job.

Thanks!

▶Empowering the soul with a dive into the concept of spirituality

• INSIGHT: 'Spirituality is the call of the conscience'. A myth bursting book that delves into the true meaning of spirituality, de-fogging the illusion of religion and rituals that society has created around it. The author has explained the differences in concepts that we usually tend to use interchangeably without truly understanding their real meaning such as philosophy, faith and spirituality. She goes levels deeper when she clarifies that for centuries spirituality has been viewed as an escapism mechanism from the material, where one has to sit for hours like sadhus to receive enlightenment. However now, things are changing. Meanings are being redefined; it is not necessary to leave the world to find peace or God. The chapters are well-flowing and structured, giving readers a strong sense of the expertise that the author brings on board as she exposes the hollowness of our society along the way.

• REVIEW: The book is an easily comprehensible take on a subject of great controversy and meaning. It brings about the concept of a new world where one starts seeing and questioning things in a different life. It is an amalgamation of various perspectives, each as defying as the previous, inspiring readers to practice it as a part of their day to day lives. It is a journey of self-awareness, a hook to detach from enforced principles of society and find a new and better tomorrow for oneself.

• STRENGTH:
1. The cover gives a feeling of contentment and peace. The colours used are subtle.
2. The language is easy and for beginners
3. The book will never get outdated. It is based on an eternal subject and will continue to hold prominence in time

• Drawbacks: You need to be interested in the subject of spirituality to be able to read this book, otherwise, it might seem like a long and unending preach

• TARGET READERS: Readers interested in wellness and spiritual growth

• AGE GROUP: Young adults

• GENRE: Spiritual contemporary non-fiction

• RATING: 4.3/5

"Spirituality is the language of spirit, beauty of spirit, the joy of spirit, and most importantly, the absolute comfort zone that nourishes the spirit"

Spirituality is a broad concept with room for many perspectives. In general, it includes a sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves, and it typically involves a search for meaning in life. But people misunderstand spiritualism with materialism. Sometimes they think that they can become spiritual when they leave all the connections from the world, or spiritualism can be achieved by following various gurus, teacher or philosophers.

Author explained what does true spirituality means. People tend to say they are spiritual but in actual they are still in some way connected to something, either their body or any materialistic.

Spirituality in this book is simply defined by our liberation from outside bond and connection to our inner self. Our joy, comfort and everything should come from within.

The book was thought provoking where it was known as idealistic and is a greatest boon to one. Spirituality as mentioned in book is not an escapism or any remedy to get through your life problems.

The book was divided into 28 short chapters where it taught all about spiritual awakening, process of self- transformation, spiritual wisdom, goals and much more.

The book also taught how the concept of karma works. How our life is connected to our past life's karma and how we settle it in our present lives.

The main lesson i learned from book is that spirituality is a state of being and not an act.
"To practice spirituality and to live spiritually, one just needs to be more of a being and less of human. Meaning that one needs to awaken, understand and nurture one's spiritual side."

The book is recommended to everyone either they are beginners or avid readers. It is for each and every sould who wants to understand the clear concept of spirituality apart from the definition given by guru's or other religious culture. The book can help one to heal and to take care of their spirit and soul.

👉Hello there, readers! The power of spirituality is about seeking a meaningful connection with something larger than oneself, which can lead to positive emotions like serenity, amazement, contentment, appreciation, and acceptance, but the main question is how many of us truly understand how to practice it. Meetu Bisht's book "Living Spirituality" is all about everything connected to Spirituality with some logical and practical fundamentals, and throughout the book, rather than discussing the Spirituality principles of others, she discusses how her manifestation for a simple and humble life leads her to understanding Spirituality. So, let's talk about it.

👉We all have some myths about spirituality, which is why we seek clarification from our teachers, masters, and yogis. However, the author defines spirituality in a straightforward manner, stating that the first step to achieving it is self-realisation, self-work, self-introspection, and inner-transformationThroughout the book, the author discusses some practical approaches and common misconceptions about spirituality that might help you to live a more humble and tranquil life. At the same time, the author also talks about what things are required when you're seeking spiritual growth, such as desire, acceptance, curiosity, faith, determination, and many aspects of which we really need to think about and why spirituality changes ordinary people to extraordinary ones are very well concluded in the book.

👉I don't think there is any other book which holds this type of strong and understandable definition of living spirituality, because I learned a lot from this book which I'm going to implement in my life also. This book works as a mind healer for me and also shows how we think about things and how they will actually work. For me, it's a highly recommended book for all of your family members to start a new path in life with spirituality. Thanks for your precious time.

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

✨There is a lot of confusion that is floating around in the name of spirituality. There is a pattern that is emerging when people are asked about their faith. An increasing number of people are calling themselves spiritual because they don’t want themselves to be identified with a certain belief system, ritual, or deity; simply put not to be bound by something fixed.

✨This book comes sheds light on the true meaning of spirituality and what it takes to be truly spiritual and live a life that is inclined towards your spiritual dimension. Debunks various myths about spirituality, and states

12 essentials required in seeking spiritual growth
7 hurdles that you’ll most likely face in your journey towards self-awareness and
A bundle of attributes of a spiritually inclined person.

𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝:

Myth 1: If one needs to be spiritually awakened being one has to renounce everything about the material world.

Spirituality is not about leaving the material or worldly life but rather, it is about staying connected with our deeper self while living a regular life. Through facing life’s challenges and everyday complexities we give our souls a better chance to grow and connect deeply.

Myth 2: Spirituality is a remedy to cure life’s problems

As humans, we seek quick fixes, instant solutions, shortcuts, it breaks my heart to reveal to you that spirituality won’t cure your life’s problems but will equip you to deal with these problems head-on.

Myth 3: A spiritual teacher is a spiritual person

Speaking/teaching/ preaching about spirituality and living a spiritual life are two different things. They can co-exist but it is very rare.

𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧:

✨While I can go on and on about the myths that this book debunks about spirituality I really want you to read this book and have this experience yourself. If you want to know what spirituality actually is, then pick this book without thinking twice.

Living Spirituality is a book that aims to educate people what being "Spiritual" means and the true meaning of it. This term is used often casually without understanding it from the root.

The book consists of 28 chapters where the author shares her thoughts about spirituality - its definition, application and myths. The author doesn't claim to be an expert in the subject as she has shared everything from what she has learned. The book should not be taken as an expert's advice but rather a book to read and introspect afterwards.

A lot of Gurus talk about Karma, Moksha ( liberation ), after life and many such topics of interest but do they themselves understand it let alone attain that state? I am not generalising anything here but there are many so called Self-Help gurus who divert individuals from the right path.

I found the book simple and easy to digest as learning about "Spirit"/"Soul" is my recent interest. Reading Bhagvad Gita, already helped me understand who we are from inside and what's our purpose and things about Karma and after life so reading this book came as a reminder to me and I had a great time reading it from the author's perspective despite the few clashes in opinion here and there.

This book will be best for people who are beginners and those who would like to understand what Spirituality is on a ground level. It will cover everything that you need to know but you should be receiving to understand what the book conveys.

Added bonus - if you are already a spiritual person or if you want to be one, this book shares 99 attributes of spiritually inclined people that will help you reflect on yourself. I loved it and I recommend everyone to read this book filled with authentic wisdom.

This book will help you become spiritually awakened and lead a life that's filled with joy and purpose.

"For life is not what happens to us, life is what we become as a result. "
.
I think the title itself suggests what the book is about. Living spirituality. A glimpse into spirituality, breaking some misconceptions /stereotypes around spirituality etc. It has a total of twenty eight chapters so it isn't a huge book. I like when books have some short chapters so that's that.
In chapter five the author discussed on the first page of that chapter about how if a person exposes the body to extreme heat or pain they usually scream but once the spirit/soul leaves that body they don't scream if exposed to flames.
Its something that shows about how while the body is important but the soul or spirit is important aswell and yet some people don't think about soul as much as they think about the body.
I will say this though that I do not agree to some things in this book like for example I do not believe in a cycle of reincarnation so the discussion about past life regression or karma from previous incarnations did not resonate with me.
Although the writer has talked about what she believes spirituality to be and how its different from religion so in the process of breaking the stereotypes/misconceptions about spirituality I think the concept of spirituality became rather vague.
Considering Spirituality is different from religion and philosophy according to the writer I would say I believe in my religion but with spirituality I don't think I completely understand it.

I have read the other book of the author "Why we are who we are" first and I truly was on awe of her writing style.
Meetu's books speaks volumes on her knowledge about the subject and inspite of spirituality being such a diverse and a deep subject, those readers who are seeking spirituality can be confused with the other books on this subject because every one has a different perspective about this topic and not everyone is able to explain or put into paper the explanation or in simple words what spirituality actually means, the way that the author does.
That said, Pick up this book only if you are ready to dive deep into the subject and your willingness to know more. This book speaks to you and I don't remember If I actually ended up underlining so many paragraphs and pages while reading the book.
I got so many insights while reading the book that I had to take deliberate pauses while reading so as to fully grasp the meaning of the writings.
Especially there were some parts that resonated so well, I am going to reread this whenever I get time again to strengthen my beliefs.
Would definitely recommend this book to beginners and advance seekers on this subject, This book has something for everything, You will absolutely turn wiser and richer with the words in the book and specially do pay attention to the learnings and your own Aha moments! and there will be plenty believe me.

Depending on one's personal beliefs and practices, living spirituality can take many different forms. It may entail regular meditation or prayer, attending religious services, or performing acts of service or charity for some. Others may spend time in nature, practice yoga or mindfulness, or express themselves creatively.

LIVING SPIRITUALITY teaches about the path to spiritualism and how Spirituality is a personal journey that is unique to each individual. The book also explains that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to spiritualism, and the path to spiritual growth can take many different forms.

The author covers a variety of topics related to spirituality, including the differences between idealism and spirituality, the characteristics of spiritually aware individuals, the benefits of spiritual awakening, and various attributes associated with spirituality. The book explains that by exploring the various attributes associated with spirituality it can provide a framework for understanding and cultivating spiritual growth.

Overall, the book "LIVING SPIRITUALITY" offers readers a broad range of insights and perspectives on spirituality, and will be a useful resource for individuals looking to deepen their spiritual practice or explore new avenues for personal growth and development.

This book will change the way you look at spirituality😎, beliefs that you have developed through uncountable videos online and by hearing different things about spirituality through people and declutter all the conditioning that has been done to you and unwire all of it.

This book promises to make you free from dogmas, beliefs and material conditioning that you have developed over the years and also to bridge the gap between spirituality in words and spirituality in actions.

Below are the lessons I loved getting perspective on

- Gurus, teachers, paths and philosophies are mere catalysts
- Spirituality is not escapism
- Spirituality is not a remedy
- Spirituality is not an act but a state of being
- 7 hurdles of self-awareness

I loved the way the author explains that to be spiritual we don't have to leave the materialistic things. Also when she explains that in human beings, the human part relates to the material world and being relates to the spiritual, as spirituality is the natural start of being.

I enjoyed the book and have learned a lot from it and trust me this is really a very insightful book, hope you learn a lot from it too.

In an age where the term "spiritual" is often loosely used without a comprehensive understanding, Meetu Bisht's "Living Spirituality" emerges as a refreshing guidebook that challenges conventional perceptions. Bisht adeptly dismantles preconceived notions, urging readers to reassess their understanding of spirituality beyond religious affiliations.

Living Spirituality by Meetu Bisht delves into the elusive world of spirituality, aiming to clear the fog of confusion surrounding this profound subject. With countless paths, ideologies, and self-proclaimed masters, true spirituality often feels out of reach. This book, however, takes a refreshing approach placing the power back in your hands.

The author offers rational insights and clear explanations that illuminate the essence of a truly spiritual life. It tackles essential questions like:
- Do we need a master or guru to guide us?
- How do we bridge the gap between spiritual words and actions?
- What differentiates spirituality from philosophy and religion?
- Is spirituality just escapism?

And many more thought-provoking ideas. 🧘‍♀️📖

The central theme of Living Spirituality is accessibility—making spirituality a living, breathing practice rather than an abstract idea. The book challenges preconceived notions, touches the soul, and guides readers toward authentic spiritual living.

Spirituality, as a way of life and as a mindset are two very distinct things, this is what author Meetu Bisht has to say in her book, Living Spirituality.

For quite a long time, religion and Spirituality go hand-in-hand, but in every religion, the ultimate goal is being in tune with our consciousness so that we achieve a higher mental stability and peace of mind. Thus it won't be wrong saying that Spirituality is the ultimate achievement of any religion.

In this book, the author has simplified a lot of complex ideas and created a simpler version of what the spiritual way of life looks like. The language is extremely simple and delicate.

The author has also broken a lot of stereotypes and the myths are also clarified. One thing i liked the most about this book is it presents analogy of Spirituality in real life situations and the wisdom-knowledge analogy influenced me the most.

I would like to recommend this book to both beginners and avid readers. Have a happy reading.

Empowering

If you want to know what is spirituality and how to become spiritual, yes my friend you've chosen the right book.

This book consists of everything including the introduction to transformation into a spiritual person.

I'd recommend this book strongly.

That is why the word ‘human being’ as human relates to the material, body, and ego, and being relates to the spiritual, spirit, and subconscious.

‘When you give to someone in need, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing

N.B: If you're already a spiritual person, you might find this book "already-known-type" but still, you can learn so many things from here. :)

Happy Reading. :)

In a world flooded with spiritual jargon, conflicting ideologies, and self-proclaimed gurus, Living Spirituality arrives as a breath of fresh air—clear, rational, and deeply transformative. The book bravely cuts through the noise, offering not just answers but clarity.

What sets this book apart is its simplicity combined with depth. The author takes a grounded and rational approach to a subject often steeped in mysticism. Rather than prescribing a single spiritual path, the book empowers readers to find their own inner truth. It doesn’t preach—it questions, explores, and invites reflection.

Some of the most pressing and confusing questions on the spiritual journey are addressed with thoughtfulness.

10/10 would recommend as it simplifies many concepts such as religion, philosophy, spirituality itself, karma, and many more that may seem daunting at first glance.
