This review is for CALLOUS BOYS BY LAURA LEE

I haven't read many reverse harem books and I definitely haven't read on when they were just in their late teens but wow I really need to start reading more of them, especially ones written by Laura Lee because this one was sooo good!

Not only do we have the three guys, Vaughn, Nico, and Cruz, that are hopelessly in love with their best friend Andi and try to navigate their relationship with her but we also have a organized crime story as well. Well if that doesn't catch your interest I'm not sure what will.

I really enjoyed watching as all three guys tried to navigate their personal lives along with the family businesses. Let's just say things didn't always go smoothly. and OMG THAT ENDING!!! I cannot wait to see what happens next.

If you enjoy Steamy New Adult Romances, Organized Crime Romances, Friends-To-Lovers, or the Revers Harem Trope I would recommend this book to you.

Happy Reading!!!

I'm only reading and reviewing Savage Rivals by Becca Steele. This was a steamy MM enemies to lovers story and ended with a cliffhanger. Savage Rivals is Asher and Levi's story. I adored these two. There was such a savage (lol) brutality to both of them when they were together with the perfect amount of vulnerability and it was HOT. Their normal has been completely obliterated and now they're left trying to make sense of their attraction to each other.

A quick and fast paced story that had me wanting more. With the rivalry going beyond just Asher and Levi, things get deeper and more complicated and some are out for blood. Will Asher and Levi survive the fallout?

I think Steele does such a fantastic job at discovery and exploration and I'd argue she is one of the top in being able to write delicious sexual tension and heart fluttering interactions. Overall, a solid short that I'm desperately wanting the HEA for.

Review for Devil Heir - Rachel Leigh
- - - - -

Dark, intense and full of angst, Devil Heir is a captivating read.
Full of insane twists, dark depravity and steam, this is not one for the faint of heart.
With a constant air of foreboding, not knowing who you cam trust and what's to come next, this story had me on the edge of my seat. And of course - that cliffhanger ending... I can't wait for more.

Holy forking shirtballs.

Twisted, intriguing and so utterly gripping, Callous Boys is a mind blowing read.
Andi is trying to navigate the new shifting water of relationships with her closest friends, her boys.
But mascaraing under a cool and calm façade, turbulence rages and the threat lying in wait beneath the surface, buried in secrets, is sure to rock the foundations of her perfectly manicured life.
With a gut-punch of a cliffhanger ending, this story left me craving more.

I can’t wait to read all the books in this anthology!

Callous Boys by Laura Lee is absolutely amazing. Andi is a small town girl from the upper class of California. She and her crew of guys grew up together. Finally, we see potential for the change in the relationship, and things get steamy fast. We have conflicts though, with the potential for fighting between the guys, so the struggle to work these issues out takes time.

This whole book gives me warm and fuzzy vibes for the friends to lovers aspect, but the threat looming behind, as a secret being kept, it’s only a matter of time before the whole house of cards collapses.

I cannot wait until this continues!

Story 📖: 5/5. Great plot, twists, and humor!
Heat 🔥: 4.5/5 considering 45k words, and that she just turns 17, it’s pretty freaking hot!

Onyx Hearted B*stards by Bea Paige-

Bea Paige is a genius. I want to live in her mind, because the creativity she uses for her books is remarkable. This piece is an epic bully story, with major fear triggers. The Callous Crew are viciously obsessed with these girls, beyond the point of fascination. They have festering wounds in their black hearts that bleed for these girls, and they finally decide on how to make them pay. On Devil’s Night, these boys utilize every fear and manipulation they can to break these girls. This book is not for the faint hearted, and if you have a bully trigger, this book is not for you.

Story 📖: 5/5
Heat 🔥: 3.5/5

YUMMY. A great mixture of many authors I adore and all that delicious, dark bully story telling fun. Angst, bad boys, flawed characters, secrets, young love drama, and all the bully/enemy love-hate charm. My only complaint is I wanted more!

I especially loved Laura Lee's entry- a new to me author, but one I'll be checking out and will certainly be picking up the rest of her story- since this one ends on a cliffhanger with the promise of a full length novel to come. Loved watching these three boys overflowing with jealousy over their love for their oblivious friend Andi. Sounds sweet enough- only the boys are involved in some dangerous things. We have young love drama paired with the more sinister and dark- and a bit of steam. Definitely my favorite in the bunch, though they are all great. And, I'm really looking forward to the full length!

I had the pleasure of reading 2 of the stories in the BRUTAL BOYS ON DEVILS NIGHT collection. I had the chance to beta read ONYX HEARTED BASTARDS, an Academy of Stardom spin-off series coming next year from Bea Paige. We met Jefferson, a.k.a. Mad Dick Magenta, in FINALE. This prequel is like a creepy fun house tour. You never known exactly what is waiting around the corner. It is definitely a very different read compared to Academy of Misfits or Academy of Stardom. It is sort of a lighter version of The Dancer and the Masks since the guys each set out to torture one of the girls. Each book in the series will feature one of the guys and whatever girl that guy is interested in. I'm definitely intrigued to see the journey each couple has to face.

*** Don't get THE CALLOUS CREW SERIES by Bea Paige confused with THE CALLOUS BOYS OF CRYSTAL COVE by Laura Lee (both of these series have prequels included in the BRUTAL BOYS ON DEVILS NIGHT collection)
----------------------------------------

When Laura Lee messaged me to ask if I would like an ARC of her short novella, CALLOUS BOYS, an introduction to the reverse harem series she is planning for next year (with understanding that I couldn't promise it would be read/reviewed before release day), of course I was excited to have it land on my kindle. It was the perfect length for me to read before bed after all my "mom" tasks were finished for the day and was a nice break from longer books. I was instantly hooked on these characters and the whole concept of lifelong best friends becoming more than friends. Most of the RH series I've read are new girl in town falls for a group of guy friends, so this was a nice change. I'm dying to see where she will take this series.

Callous Boys - Laura Lee
▪️Review▪️
▪️5⭐️▪️

“Andi Carmichael is a bright star among us he of darkness, and I’m going to do everything in my damn power to keep it that way. I have a feeling we’re going to need her light more than ever in the coming months.“

Vaughn, Nico, and Cruz are all in love with their best friend, Andi. She’s quite oblivious, which is completely understandable since the boys are always after other girls at school. But when she finally gives the new boy in school attention, her best friends get insanely jealous and make their feelings known.
With Andi never even kissing a boy before, jealousy spouts up when everyone wants all of her “firsts”.
This relationship - having one girl and three boys who all deeply love her, it’s going to take a lot of time to figure out how to peacefully cohabitant.

What Andi doesn’t know, her boys are into something sinister. A possible family run business. That her own family is also part of.
This novella leaves off on an insane cliffhanger.
This is a new to me author, which I took the chance on receiving an ARC, and I’m so happy I did because I will absolutely be reading the rest of this story when it comes out!
I love the characters, there is just enough spice, and the plot is really interesting!

HOLY SHIT THAT CLIFFHANGER!! Ok so I was sucked in from the prologue and had a feeling this book would leave me wanting, and boy did it!
Callous Boys has the sweet innocent heroine and three, yes 3, sexy dirty talking guys. Andi has loved Nico, Cruz and Vaughn forever. They were her best friends. She didn't know they felt the same way about her, so it's worth a try to see where things go. What she didn't know, is what those 3 boys are hiding from her. I have a feeling those secrets are not gonna be good. I can't wait for more of this series by Laura Lee!! Well done with this reverse harem/ why choose story, it has it ALL❣

Well Well Well, lets talk about it like seriously! I devoured this! yes! Andi is my girl! She has the three best of friends who all are all into each other but none act on it. Vaughn, Cruz, Nico they are the possessive alpha men that I love. This book had secrets, angst, and mystery and I kept asking myself what will happen, what trouble will they cause. Defiantly kept me wanting more but it gave me just the right amount. This was just the right amount of Tease, defiantly can not wait for more!!

This review Is for Callous boys by Laura Lee

Callous Boys is Laura Lee's story in Brutal Boys on Devils  Night Anthology. It's also her first RH romance.

Holy moly it was Phenomenal. Best friends to lovers RH with just the right amount of Spice and drama.
It's sexy with a side of dark, funny but intense. Will keep you hooked and leave you wanting more. There's secrets and lies and so much sexual tension even I was frustrated. Don't even get me started on that ending. Luckily there is more to come. Because there is no way that can be the ending.

Review for Callous Boys by Laura Lee

This book did not go the way I thought it was going at all! In the most amazing way Laura surprised the dark romance loving side of me. Vaughn, Cruz, Nico and Andi have that epically desired friends since forever relationship that true foundations are made of but old family secrets are threatening that bond and I can’t wait to see what happens when their friendship/almost relationship is literally blown up.

I read Callous boys by Laura Lee, and I’m obsessed. I love Andi and her boys. I am not surprised that they were hiding things, but I was shocked by the ending.

I have all of these theories running thru my head and I cannot wait to see where this goes next. Can Andi ever trust them again and can she forgive them? These boys are gonna need to grovel yall!

This is slow burn but the tension made me fan myself a few times. I’m sooo excited for more from Laura Lee on Andi and the boys.

Review of Callous Boys by Laura Lee
This is an interesting quick read. I have recently fallen in love with #whychoose romance, and this one doesn't disappoint in that aspect. This book has great characters, some steamy scenes, and some intense moments. I really enjoyed this first look into Crystal Cove, and can't wait to see what author Laura Lee has instore for us.

This anthology was awesome and gives you just enough to need more of each story. I can’t wait to read more. Each of these stories in this book are awesome. I love a good bully or dark romance and this anthology if full of them!!

Onyx Hearted B’stards by Bea Paige was one of my favorites in the whole book but don’t get me wrong the other stories are awesome also. This one was about the Parkour Crew boys who bullied and tormenting 4 girls for years until one faithful night they get invited to a party that changes everything. These boy cross a line I don’t know if they can ever come back from and in typical Bea Paige fashion she has us on the edge of our seat screaming for more!! I can’t wait until the rest of this series comes out.

This is a review for Callous Boys by Laura Lee.

From page one I was instantly hooked on this story and couldn’t put it down!

Andi, Nico, Vaughn and Cruz have been best friends their entire lives. They do everything together. As they grew older Nico, Vaughn and Cruz started to notice Andi more. Their feelings started to change and they became more protective of her. Andi had also developed feelings for all three of her best friends and she was also protective of the three of them.

The chemistry, the steam, the suspense. This story had it all. I loved the friendship between these 4 characters. I loved the chemistry between all of them. Andi had a different connection with each of them, but when it came to her feelings she couldn’t just pick one of them. She couldn’t lose any of them and needed them all in her life. Nico Vaughn and Cruz had an agreement between each other that they would be open about how things go with Andi. No one wanted to risk their friendship.

I loved seeing how their friendship slowly turned into something more. Seeing how they are all navigating this change that is completely new to all of them. They are trying to find their own normal in all of it. Cruz and Nico are definitely more open to the whole relationship, but Vaughn is more possessive and less keen on sharing Andi with the other two, but also open to seeing where things go between all of them.

THAT ENDING! I had to pick my jaw off the floor!! That cliffhanger killed me. I am already dying for more of Andi, Nico, Vaughn and Cruz. I can’t wait to see where the story goes and to see how the relationship between the 4 of them changes, especially with how things were left at the end.

If you’re looking for a dark, friends to lovers RH romance this is definitely one to check out.

This review is for Rachel Leigh's Devil Heir:

RACHEL! Where have you been hiding Penelope and Blaise!! All I have to say is 🥵🥵🥵

I love Penny and I loved seeing her grow into who she is by the end of this novella. She isn't the same girl that left Skull Creek two years ago. Blaise is everything I love in an antihero. He's broody and moody and a little alphahole-ish. The steam between the two is 🤌 🤌 🤌

This novella got me so excited for this anthology!! I love a good bully book and this antho is going to be full of them! 😍😍

I'm super excited to know that there is going to be a part two. I just met them and I am NOT ready to let them go. I NEED MORE PENNY AND BLAISE!!!

🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

This review is for Laura Lee's Callous Boys:

AH! I need more!! This novella will be featured in the Brutal Boys on Devils Night Anthology. It is prequel to a new series and I am looking forward to it!

Andi, Vaughn, Cruz and Nico have been friends forever. Of course they have noticed Andi and and Andi has noticed them, but no one said anything. It takes one night on the beach for their dynamic to change.

The boys are part of something more that is going on in their town. Andi's family is a part of it too, but she has been hidden from that part of their lives It takes one night for her whole world to turn on its axis and now she has to decide who to trust.

I LOVED Callous Boys. I am so excited to see where this goes after that little cliffhanger in the novella. I cannot wait to get to know these characters more and see how Andi grows with the events of this novella.

~~~~Review for Callous Boys by Laura Lee~~~~
Just wow! Callous Boys is a prequel to a new dark reverse harem series by the amazing Laura Lee.
It starts with your sweet, typical teenage love....but throw in 3 hot guys, teenage hormones, a bit of drama and a lot of sexual tension and you have a recipe for some very steamy scenes and a plot that has you asking a whole lot of questions but leaves you hanging at the end...for now!!
Andi and her 3 boys, Vaughn, Nico and Cruz share an unbreakable bond....or do they?? Their love for each other is strong, but on Devils Night, when Andi learns that the guys have been keeping secrets and lying to her, and all hell breaks loose at home...the strength of that bond will be tested.
I can't wait to read this series.
I received an ARC of Devil Heir by Rachel Leigh which is in this anthology and this review is my own honest opinion.
Wowzers, this is one great dark bully story. It had me completely captivated from the off.
Blaise is your typical rich kid and Penelope comes in to his life when his Dad marries her Mum. They hate each other and the bullying Penelope suffers is horrendous, but not just by Blaise, he has a whole gang of people with him. Although Blaise is awful you can’t help but like him too.
Penny changed so much throughout the book and I can’t wait to see where her story takes her next. She’s one tough cookie.
If you like a dark bully book with a stepsister/stepbrother dynamic with lots of angst, heat and betrayal then this story is for you!
A Bully Anthology
Most of the stories in this volume are prequels to a longer work that is due out in a month or two. Most of the stories end in some kind of Cliffhanger. I did not really get in to several of them for some reason even though I usually do like Bully Romances. I read this Anthology with KU. So try the stories out for your self, they are pretty good for the most part.
Callous Boys by Laura Lee was absolutely phenomenal. Andi, Vaughn, Nico, and Cruz all grew up together and have been best friends since forever. But there are secrets buried within their friendship. ✨This review is for Devil Heir by Rachel Leigh ✨
Eeeeeekkkk!!! Rachel, you out did yourself!! So freakin good!!
Blaise is beyond brutal; so brutal that it honestly hurt my heart sometimes. It was cringe-worthy and my heart bled for Penelope! I found myself questioning how the heck Rachel was going to redeem this boy because he seriously made my skin crawl!
But that is the genius that is Rachel, because through all that, through all the hopes that Penelope grows a pair…Blaise somehow worms his way just a tiny bit into my heart.
Can’t wait to see Penelope take her crown and bring them all to their knees!
In all honest, MM books can be iffy for me. When they are good, I love them. When they are not so good, well, I think you can infer how I feel. Lucky for us all, Becca nailed this one.
I loved reading about Levi and Asher. The repressed longing and overly abundant high school angst. Can I say, ‘yes, please!! Savage Rivals is written in dual POV, which I liked because these boys have something to say.
This is my second MM read, ‘Cross the Line’ was first, by Ms. Steele and I am not disappointed. She has a way with words that bring these boys to life and jump off the page.
**Reviewing Devil Heir by Rachel Leigh.**
First of all.... Rachel blew my mind with this one!! Second of all...where has Rachel been hiding this fire?? Devil Heir is something totally different from her and I couldn't love it more then I already do. I love a good step brother story and this one takes the cake as one of the best! Blaise and Penelope wow do they have a story to tell. He's the bully. She's the sweet naive girl. They're step siblings. He hates her but we don't really know why. The ending was jaw dropping and will leave you needing more. Luckily this is only part 1 and we will get a part 2 soon.
**Reviewing Callous Boys by Laura Lee**
Callous Boys exceeded all and any expectations I had in a RH book. It is a prequel to a brand new series and one I'm looking forward to reading.
Now I don't normally read RH. Mainly because I usually love one guy over the rest but I can honeslty say that's not the case in this book. I love all 3 of these boys. Each brings so much to the table and our heroine is just the right amount of sassy. She can keep these guys on there toes. This prequel opens the door to a series that is going to blow our minds...I can feel it. It has all the suspense, drama, and fire that I look for in a great story. Laura brought something different with this one. Prepare to be amazed.
I'm so excited to read more and can't wait for this series to come!
I received an ARC of Callous Boys by Laura Lee. I absolutely loved it and the whole premise surrounding Devil’s Night makes me want to read the other stories in the anthology! Here’s my review of Callous Boys:
I didn’t know what to expect from this book, other than it was RH. But I REALLY enjoyed it. I was instantly invested in the friendship between Andi and the guys. A lifelong friendship that evolved into romantic feelings was more believable to me than an enemies to lovers situation. I was extremely glad the author didn’t drag out the development of the relationship. It all came to light pretty quickly after the Hunter drama and feelings were confessed.
Although Andi is a virgin, the sexy scenes didn’t feel rushed because they’ve known each other for so long. They’re comfortable around each other and it shows with her willingness and confidence.
The major obstacle in the book is the family business and I’m still not completely sure what it is, but I have a good idea. The ending was CRAZY and SO unexpected. I have no idea where this series is going to go after this and I am desperately waiting for the subsequent books.
Beware of the major cliffhanger. But if you like the suspense and a RH with lots of drama and potential danger, then you’ll love this book!
Anthology overall: 5 stars and absolutely worth the money. I’ve been reviewing each story as I go (included below), but I wanted to shout out this anthology.
I grabbed this because Becca Steele & Daniela Romero had stories (both 5-star stories). But more importantly, this gave me a chance to check out a couple of authors who have popped up on my KU and read stuff by entirely new to me authors!
I was lamenting that I have been slowly waiting for books to release a few months at a time, but now I have quite a few back catalogs to read!
* * * *
Savage Rivals by Becca Steele: 5 stars
Hello, sexy footballers with an enemy-to-lover premise. I liked this one because it felt like the right level of “enemies” for a high school story - rival football captains - and Becca writes exploration scenes so well. While it was definitely spicy watching these two get together, it was also touching to see their vulnerability.
I’m pretty open that I buy these anthologies purely to get my hands on a story by Becca, and this sneak peek was worth the cost of the novel. Now to wait for the full book to come out in November.
Callous Boys by Laura Lee: 4 stars
This is a new author for me, which is a huge reason I love these anthologies. As I read this story, I was struck by how much Andi, the main character, felt like a teenager. And even though the boys are involved in dangerous stuff, they still act like teenagers. It’s also a well set-up RH, where it’s not immediately smooth sailing, which I appreciate because, again, teenagers.
Definitely added this and a couple of the authors’ other books to my TBR list!
Pretty Girls Make Graves by Steffanie Holmes: 4 stars
With a title that could either be referencing a Song by the Smiths or one of my favorite early 2000s bands, I was super intrigued going into this story. This was not what I expected, but I loved the gothic horror meets modern romance vibe. And for a book where there is very little *ahem*, there is so much sexy tension. My only complaint was that there is no inciting incident into why Keely and the others hate her. Like they are mean to her before she even starts her investigation.
Also, huge props to the author for throwing an entire novel in here. I have book two on my TBR, and can’t wait to dive into her other series.
Crank by Caitlyn Dare: 4 stars
This was a fun side story novella for the Sinner MC books. I thought the characters + the relationship were perfect for this length. They were obviously hot for each other and so it was nice to have filler push/pull.
I added the Sinner’s MC first book to my TBR and look forward to diving into the series.
Hush, Hush by EM Moore: 4 stars
EM Moore keeps popping up in my KU recs, so I was happy to see her work included in this anthology. Honestly, I thought I was not going to like this story at the opening, but then when it rolled into the fact, it was a secret society book I was in. It reminded me of the Skulls - down to the party on the island, but the mystery is well laid out. A few typos and consistency errors.
Definitely curious to check out more by Moore! Especially since it looks like some of her other work is paranormal romance.
Devil Heir by Rachel Leigh: 3 stars
Eh…I liked elements of this one. I often wonder if Angel Lawson ruined me regarding stepbrother romances (counting down to October). I think the end kind of ruined it for me. TBH, I’ll read the full novel, but I can’t get super excited about the heroine coming back to “be queen.” It just makes her a mean girl like everyone else.
I’ll give the full novel a shot when it comes out.
Onyx Hearted Bastards by Bea Paige: 3.5 stars
Bea is another one who pops up a bit in my KU recs. It was nice to read a bit of a different set-up for a bully novel. Instead of being rich preps, this could have been a later season of Skins. I had a hard time differentiating the girls in the early chapters when it flipped through POV. But I’m curious to see where the series goes.
Suncrest Saints - Santiago by Daniela Romero: 5 stars
Such a tease! But I’m excited to see another series with hotties. I found Daniela through one of these anthologies and fell in love with her writing and her heroes - anti-heroes(??!) I’m super curious where this one will go, and my heart is already stolen by Naasir.
This is a limited time anthology and I’m pretty sure the last day to buy it or throw it in your KU is Halloween. Most of the stories do have cliffhangers but there are a few full ones. There is one MM romance, one RH and the rest were MF. I found some really amazing authors reading this book and my TBR list never gets shorter because of anthologies like this.
My favorite read was Pretty Girls Make Graves by Steffanie Holmes. This book is the first in a duet and ends with a crazy cliffhanger. It has been a LONG time since I’ve been able to read a single POV and really fucking like it. This story kept my attention the entire time. It has a gothic church angle, murder, secret societies, religious debauchery and lots of taboo love. This is one of the few books that benefited from having a single POV because it kept up the mystery factor having no insight into anyone else’s thoughts. If you sign up for this author’s newsletter you get 2 POVs from each guy in the story and they blew my fucking mind. This is a 5 star book and I’m going to die waiting until Dec 10th to finish it.
Becca Steele’s MM romance, Savage Rivals was all types of depraved and hot. When their hatred finally gave way to a passionate first kiss, I nearly died from the ruthlessness of it. This book ended abruptly and once it’s properly released I plan to devour the entire thing.
A lot of the stories were prequels to books that are going to be released soon. Hush Hush by EM Moore was an example of how a single POV just didn’t work for me. I absolutely hated her love interest Keegan and it was hard to relate to the heroine especially because she was such a doormat. She kept stating she had a backbone and while that was somewhat true, she let Keegan say and do horrid things to her. That being said, I somehow was able to read all of it but I don’t think I will be waiting with bated breath to finish reading it even though the cliffhanger was nuts.
Callous Boys by Laura Lee is the RH and a prequel to a stepbrother bully romance. I’ve never read RH but have been quite interested however I really didn’t like the heroine or most of her love interests. Andi is living in an idyllic beach town or so she thinks. On her 18th birthday, her life is forever changed. This story had a lot of sunshine and rainbows until it took a sharp turn at the end. Even though I wasn’t feeling the heroine, I almost want to read this when it comes out because of how fucked up it became. I almost didn’t finish this because of how floofy it was. Boy was I in for a surprise.
Crank By Caitlyn Dare is a full length story. It was one of those stories that most people will probably like but it wasn’t for me. No matter how hard I try, I just cannot get into MC romances. I read all of it but by the end my eyes were glazing over.
There are 3 more I’m currently still reading but because this book is going to disappear soon, I’m reviewing it now. For the most part I really liked this anthology. Even the stories I thought wouldn’t be for me I ended up liking and that’s why I read anthologies because it introduces me to authors I may never find otherwise.
