I didn’t want any fanfare around my twenty-first birthday. But when a series of unfortunate accidents confirming Ramsey’s rules of randomness takes place right in front of my eyes, I find myself dancing with the hottest, most popular jock on campus.
Liam makes me feel special. He makes this night one to remember. He becomes the very first boy I ever kissed.
Except it’s all a charade. He’s just making his crazy ex-girlfriend crazier and I’m happy to play along. Call it a kissing practice.
But when the door is closed and his ex isn’t around to see us, are we still faking it? Or are we the crazy ones?
Liam
Am I going through one helluva breakup? Yes I am.
Am I coping with it by dancing with the first guy who accidentally pissed my ex off? You bet I am.
Hayley and I were supposed to spend our lives together. Well, that was the plan until she changed the plan. She’s now hooking up with some random caveman and I’ll be damned if I’m just going to stand here and watch.
Oops, the nerd just kissed me; and you can bet your life I kissed him back. Now she knows what it feels like.
And I discover it feels way better than I expected.
The Two Stars Collision is the third book in the College Boys of New Haven series, but it fully works as a standalone. If this is your first encounter with the series, feel free to start here! You will find a nerd/jock pair, opposites attract, gay for you, and a happily ever after.
No, I couldn't sleep. Had to find out how they break up. Yaess! That is what I look for in this type of format. Like when I watch Korean Dramas. The second twist ends up maneuvering the couple into the perfect reunion.
I am confused. This is a long review because I almost only saw super happy reviews on here that didn't touch on this.
I really enjoyed this book at first because I was in the mood for something sweet, easy and mostly drama/trauma-free.
At first, I got exactly that. This book is a bit insta love, it’s cute, it’s short and an easy read. The characters are like-able and mostly well-written. I didn’t expect overly much even though the reviews are all pretty good. The spice is ok, although it seems rather unrealistic especially considering we have two males who both never had any sex with another man yet there is no need for preparation at all 🤷♀️ The love story is sweet however. Exactly what I needed.
It was a nice read until about 50% of the book where we reached the conflict you normally get at the 3rd act breakup. The ex girlfriend of the formerly straight MC Liam is the main drama source in the entire book. I would have understood a miscommunication trope at the 50% hiccup but somehow seeing his current love interest being kissed by his ex wasn’t the main problem for Miles, the other MMC (no cheating, don’t worry). But somehow he talked himself into having a completely different problem that still confuses me. All of the sudden they moved too fast and still not fast enough?! So we kind of had a breakup at 50%, that got resolved and the book continued nicely after that hiccup. I still would have given it a solid 3 ⭐️ right until the 88% mark.
Because we got another drama. And that just infuriated me. There’s nothing worse to me than main characters acting in such a contrary way to their previously described characters. I don’t even mind miscommunication or 3rd act break ups as much as many other readers do. If it is somewhat understandably.
Liam isn’t shy in his newly found sexuality. He also proclaims that he loves Miles more than anything and thinks about spending the rest of his life with him. Yet, when he takes his boyfriend to his parents anniversary in order to introduce him as his partner, he lets his crazy ex swoop in to orchestrate a whole scheme and he never says a thing? I get being dumbfounded for a moment. But to just go along and not say anything when your ex acts as if you are still together in front of your entire family? IN FRONT OF YOUR BOYFRIEND? Hell no. We are talking hours, dinners, being housed in the same cabin with your boyfriend AND ex. We are talking his ex proclaiming the boyfriend is just a friend, needs to sleep on the couch and Liam never says a single word. Not one. He just goes along with it, He leaves his sister with his boyfriend and doesn't even push his ex away when she's all over him? I'd be so done, there would be the need for a new word for done. Yet, of course after hours and his boyfriend being alone, sad and gone from the festivities, Liam finally wakes up, says something and magically makes up with Miles who just lets it all go. Easy peasy.
Nope. That ruined the book for me. Why is no one else bothered by this shitty behavior?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Frankly, this story was adorable. Freaking adorable. With little to no angst, effective and fan-worthy steam, and a whole lot of freeing self-realization and familial acceptance, this was made of fluff. There were a few moments of interference at the hands of a crazy ex, but even that wasn't enough to dim the brightness of the cheese that made this story so sweet.
One thing did take me out of the story though. Confusing usage of terms and phrases. "Made my heart drop" generally means a bad thing but was being used to denote a good feeling. That kind of thing happened far too often and really needed an objective eye to sort that one out.
Aside from that, I was in love with Liam and his flow as well as his giant heart. His confession was the most wonderful set of words and could not have been more perfect for the moment or his chosen partner. He and Miles were literally made for one another.
Miles was the adorable nerd that I did quite enjoy, he just paled a little because he was exactly as his character bio would have been written. He was special in that Liam loved everything about him, and he wasn't prone to overreactions, and his intelligence was an attribute as well, he just didn't shine as brightly for me as Liam did.
This was a simple story full of sweetness, sexiness, and heartfelt feeling. I truly enjoyed the read.
" Was there such a thing as too fast when you were with the person you'd always been meant to be with?"
I think this one may be my favorite of the series, even considering how Liam's annoying ex girlfriend kept popping up. It did move at lightning speed though. From the moment they met Miles and Liam connected. They felt more themselves when in each other's orbit. Miles was simply adorable and I don't blame Liam one bit for being so taken with him. I also liked that it was Liam, not openly gay Miles, who was the one to make his feelings known. I think that helped with Miles insecurities about the way their relationship began, not to mention his stereotypical presumptions about hunky jocks.
Miles bugged me a bit. I wanted him to believe Liam when he said how he felt. I wanted him to walk right up to Liam's crazy ex and tell her to get lost, that Liam was his! He needed some self confidence and I think if he had more we wouldn't have been put through the obsessive questioning he had going on in his head.
My favorite part of the book had to be Liam's teammates on the soccer team. They were so awesome and supportive. The comradery was what I wished all sports teams would be like. I was also really intrigued about his two teammates who were dating. I tried seeing if they had a previous book of their own, but no luck. Maybe we'll get their backstory in a future book.
I also had one little niggle that I can't help but mention. During one of the steamy scenes, the author uses the word "squatted" for when one of the MCs climbs on the others lap. I don't know about you, but whenever I hear that word all I can think about it someone going to the bathroom. It totally took me out of the story for moment. But that's my weird thing and likely wouldn't bother anyone else. 🤷♀️
While there are scores of gay nerd/jock romance novels available, I can’t imagine any better than Hayden Hall’s near perfect rom/com, The Two Stars Collision.
Star Wars fans will particularly appreciate the frequent references to that series, but even if you’ve never followed Star Wars, you’ll love this story.
Despite the unusual circumstances of their first meeting, from the moment the reader is introduced to Miles, a 21-year old virgin astrophysics major, and Liam, a Delta Kappa Phi ‘frat-brat’ who captains the New Haven college soccer team, the instant chemistry is obvious.
And now for a VERY MINOR
Other than Hayley, Liam’s conniving ex, all the supporting characters Hall has created are just wonderful. A few of these are: Miles’ roommate and best friend, Sheila; his Dungeons & Dragons game playing friends, Ben, Alex, Finn, and Luke, and of course, his two gay grandfathers.
On Liam’s side there are his supportive big sister, Masha; all the members of his soccer team, particularly the team’s vice captain, Jack, and its only gay couple Tristan and Jamie; and his incredible parents who are about to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review. The Two Stars Collision is a funny, heart-felt story that every fan of gay romance novels will adore.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
This book was pretty cute. Miles is a super nerd and Liam is the captain of the soccer team...normally these two wouldn't cross paths, but Miles has the misfortune of literally bumping into Liam's ex and things get a little crazy. In a strange twist, Miles ends up getting kissed by Liam which leads to a whole lot more under the pretense of "getting back" at the ex. Miles has zero physical experience so he is totally on board for any firsts Liam is willing to help him with. I liked how Liam and Miles actually had a lot more in common with each other than they realized and I thought it was adorable how sweet Liam was when it came to making Miles feel special.
I’ve really enjoyed this series so far, but I think this one was my favorite! Miles and Liam almost had an insta-love going on, but I think it was more that they lusted after each other. The pace was kind of fast thou. I loved all the support Miles and Liam received most of all. It was well written and a page turner. Definitely recommend! Overall I seriously enjoyed their story! I am voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
This Jock/Nerd romance was right up my alley! I liked how Liam and Miles actually had a lot more in common with each other than they thought and enjoyed each other's differences. This sweet, funny story is full of humor, heat and all the feels. Liam was the big surprise for me....he is such a sweet teddy bear and is crazy about Miles. It was so much fun watching them finally get their HEA!
2.5 stars. Something's off about the writing in this book, the plot is practically nonexistent, and the author leans heavily on the crazy ex-girlfriend cliche for the conflict. But the main characters are likable at least (unlike one of them in the first book in this series).
I’ll be DNFing this for the time being. It was too insta for me… sweet but yeah no they moved all too fast for me….so it’s just me and not the book… DNF at 33%.
The Two Stars Collision (College Boys of New Haven series) By Hayden Hall Published by the author, 2021 Four stars
It’s hard to believe that I can remember what it was like to be a college boy in love—in the 1970s in the real New Haven. But I do, and those memories enhanced the pleasure I take in Hayden Hall’s “College Boys of New Haven” series.
This ain’t Tolstoy, but it has heart and soul and a ring of truth. That’s enough.
Miles and Liam are also, as expected, lovely, textured, authentic young men. They are built in the magical romance trope of the little skinny nerd falls for the big muscular jock. I love both sides of that equation. This particular story builds on the coincidental nerdiness of astronomy and Star Wars that both little Brazilian gamer Miles and big burly blond soccer player Liam share.
We get a little more of Miles’s family background in this book than we do Liam’s, but in both cases we can see how those circumstances shaped the emotional trajectories of each young man. When you’re a nerdy scholar the expectations are different from being a popular, gorgeous jock.
Miles is turning 21 and is still a virgin; while Liam has had a girlfriend for three years because, well, it was expected and he’d known her since childhood. Neither boy (man) has ever really questioned “why.” A quite nicely contrived moment inspires Liam to exploit his sudden awareness of the beautiful little Miles to get back at his cruel ex-girlfriend. The surprises is that Liam really finds that he likes Miles—and likes kissing him a lot more than he expected to.
If you’re a popular jock, the world expects you to behave a certain way. You don’t necessarily question those expectations as long as they don’t conflict with your actual feelings—i.e. Liam discovering his latent bisexuality only at 22 is not a surprise. The lovely surprise is that Liam doesn’t freak out. He’s surprised, but fascinated, and Miles’s personality makes him ponder whether or not it’s more than just chemistry.
As always, Hall makes for a sexy story, but never forgets that it’s about feelings and the connection of two souls. I appreciate and enjoy his gentle approach.
I've been meaning to start Hayden Hall's The College Boys of New Haven series for a while now. I finally did, and skipped (sue me) to the third book: "The Two Stars Collision." ["When an adorable force meets an irresistible object they might just fall in love.

And I discover it feels way better than I expected."] I skipped to the third book mostly because I might have predicted the second book (and didn't realize their was a prequel until I finished book one and already knew the outcome(s) of book 0.5), but also because I read this blurb and really, really needed to read it (and the next book--sometimes I lack self-control (shocker, I know) and read all of the book blurbs in a series before I read the actual series).
This book was soooo freaking good, oh my god. So fucking fantastic. I loved the two of them, I loved their separate stories and their chemistry and how easy it was and how much they cared. I loved how they spent an entire night together watching the stars (and having sex, but I mean, you knew that was included).
I loved all of the space talk/facts(I love stars and space and Miles explained the "we're all stardust" quote and its accuracy). I loved all of the nerd talk and geeking out (even though I don't really know anything about Star Wars and I've never even thought about playing DnD) and how it balanced with the sports talk. I love how proactive and responsible Liam's frat was (total opposite of the stereotype and so damn perfect).
Giving Hayden's writing and this series another shot was soooo worth it. Here's to the next one!
You know how you fall in love with fictional characters and you feel like you know them inside and out? I love that Hayden has just written characters that feel so close to me. Like he plucked them out of my life and wrote a book about them. I can personally relate to Miles and his obsession with Star Wars and his attraction to hot athletes (especially this soccer captain named Liam)! I can look at the relationship between Miles and his best friend, Sheila, and it reminds me of my best friend and our constant ribbing at one another, but also that special bond.
I can feel the amazing camaraderie with Liam's fraternity and soccer team and just reminding me of nights hanging out with my friends or working together as one with my surgery team. The sibling-love and total acceptance Liam feels when he talks to his sister, Masha, reminds me of my relationship with my own sister. Liam's curiosity, questions, and exploration with someone of the same sex, reminded me of those days a long time ago, where I was doing and feeling those same things. I could go on.
I love that I felt a little bit of each of my friends and family in these characters. I also really like to be able to relate to a book. Just being able to relate to conversations about feelings or just having concerns and questions about them, especially when you may have never felt them before. I love that Hayden can write a safe space. A space where you can relate, a space where you can ask those same questions, a space where you can think or where you can work through your own emotions too.
I have literally read all of Hayden's books. I can never say which one I like the best anymore and they just get better and better as he publishes. This one though, it was tops! This one made me laugh so hard so many times, it broke my heart, it made me blush, it made me growl at my book a few times (Ugh, Hayley. Trust me, we hate her.), it made me put my book down so I could take a minute to breathe and refocus after those hot scenes, and it absolutely made me love. I 100% recommend this book. Prepare yourself for quite the emotional and fun filled ride. And may the Force be with you.
The Two Stars Collision was a cute and fun romance!
When Miles goes to a bar on his 21st birthday, the last thing he expects is to have his first kiss with a really hot jock. What he expects even less is to spend the night with him. Regardless of what he expected or didn't expect, he feels a real connection to Liam. But he doesn't get his hopes up because as far as he knows, this is just a walk on the wild side for the straight soccer captain.
Having feelings for Miles wasn't something Liam ever expected either. He just knows that he needs to find him and that he can't just leave it at one night. So, they strike a deal. Liam gets to keep up the ruse of a relationship to annoy his ex, and Miles gets the opportunity to finish all his firsts and practice on a handsome soccer star.
This was a really cute and fluffy, nerd/jock pairing. Miles and Liam's relationship was on the fast track from the moment they met, but the "fake relationship" aspect was a major obstacle in the path of their true feelings. One thing that felt a little off to me was their chemistry. Like we were constantly being told that these two people cared about one another, but I wasn't feeling it, especially during the sex scenes, cause those just felt off the whole time. Maybe this was just a me thing, and you won't feel the same way I did, but I just had to put that out there.
Apart from that, the book was pretty light, with some sweet moments! This definitely had some elements of instalove in it, and that threw me off. I would have liked more of the "getting to know you," but it wasn't too bad. There was some drama towards the end but it was solved pretty quickly and was all tied up into a cute HEA!
I'd recommend this if you're looking for a light, nerd/jock romance, with a sweet ending!
*I received a copy of this book from GRR, and this is my honest review.*
Hayden Hall is quickly becoming a one click author for me. I don’t even need to read the blurb to know I will love whatever he writes. This book was no exception. Miles and Liam are absolute perfection together.
Miles, out celebrating his twenty-first birthday, is completely out of his element when his best friend takes him out to celebrate. She drags him to a club - frequented by frat boys and athletes – two things he is not. After he accidentally spills a drink on a very irate young woman, her ex-boyfriend, Liam, comes over to apologize to him. Liam is tall, blond and captain of the soccer team. He’s everything Miles would normally drool over, and walk on by, while keeping his head down.
After Miles quotes “Star Wars” to him, Liam proposes they pose as a fake couple to further outrage his ex. What starts out as a dance, moves on to kissing, which moves on to so much more. Miles marks many firsts off his list in one eventful evening. Liam figures out he may be less straight than he ever imagined, at least where Miles is concerned. Showing up the next day at Mile’s door, with a belated birthday present, not only shows Liam’s super sweet side, but also his inner nerd. Soon there is less “fake” in their relationship, and a lot of heat and fun.
This book had laugh out loud moments for me, and the side characters were fantastic. I want a Masha in my life, or at least to hang out with her for a while. Once again, the way this author writes had me enthralled, even when writing about atoms and stars, something I ignored in science class as boring. His words made me want to throw a blanket on the ground, and stare up at a dark sky, full of stars.
The Two Stars Collision College Boys of New Haven Hayden Hall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶🌶
Oh my nerdy little heart. I fell in love with Liam the second he completed Miles Star Wars quote. Is there anything hotter than a jock letting his nerd flag fly? I’lll wait. These boys were adorable and their fake dating to get a rise out of that horrible piece of gutter trash that is Hailey, had me living for the next confrontation. Their friendship even more than their relationship as a couple kept me reading this book. Miles had a lot of hang ups about the “jock” friends of Liam, but he opened up when he realized they. Weren’t the same jocks that tormented him in high school.
The side characters in this were so great and so freaking funny. Sheila, Miles best friend and roommate, was the perfect BFF. She pushed Miles to get out of his comfort zone, but at the same time was fiercely protective of him. Masha, Liam’s big sister, kept Liam on his toes in the way only a sister can.
My favorite scene would definitely have to be Hailey being dragged out of the anniversary party by her parents after being publicly outed and lies exposed. JUSTICE!!! I really couldn’t stand her.
The spicy scenes were both sweet and oh so hot! Liam guided the virginal Miles without pushing him too far. They will leave you panting for more, with hearts racing.
I am half way through CBNH and I am thoroughly enjoying the ride, but it’s Hayden Hall so I expected nothing less.
This story is super CUTE It is book #3 in the College boys of new haven series but it can be read as a standalone.
This is a jock/nerd gay-for-you love story with lots of sexy times. It is an insta-lust and insta-love story. There is A LOT of sex scenes and I'd rather read about Miles and Liam spending time outside of the bed... In theory MCs are completely different - straight, hot soccer player/frat brat and a virgin nerd, but in reality they are total geeks who love Star wars.
I absolutely loved the first half of this story, it was fast paced and funny. I liked both MCs and their fake relationship sounded really good. I wish there was more time spent on getting to know each other and building "real" relationship, because everything happened TOO FAST. And yes, it is possible to move too fast even when both MCs believe they are in love.
What really annoyed me was Hayley. Jeez, I couldn't stand her and I really couldn't understand why Liam let her act like a total bitch (and in the end I wanted to just kick him real hard for lack of any reaction). All in all it is a super sweet, super cute romance with likable characters (well, most of them). It was my first book by this author and I really liked his writing style :)
* I was gifted an ARC copy of this book and this is my honest review *
The sweetest opposites attract, fake relationship MM story I have read. Call me fluff, coz my hormonal, romcom heart is fluttering with happiness and big smiles. Author Hall continues to live up to his trademark of sweet and sexy and has weaved a truly heartwarming and feel-good story in this one. As someone who's followed his works from the beginning, I can now say he truly knows how to captivate reader's heart.
The story follows Liam (the tall, all that hunky jock macho-ness but hurting in the matters of the heart) and total geek and all things nerdy-Miles who through perfect timing and serendipity, strike up a plan to be fake with benefits. The chemistry between the duo, right from the first hello (or Star wars quote in this case) is aflame. Leaving the sizzling sexual tension aside, the way the author had highlighted their emotions and the meant-for-each bond through flirty dialogues and gestures makes it a complete treat to read. Wonderful penmanship. And I think this one had quite possibly the best nerd-quotes ever (the science geek in me is beaming).
|"You can’t destroy matter; it can only transform until it’s unrecognizable. So, yeah, we were once stars.” “Forged in the same star, huh?” Liam mused."|
Need a heartwarming love story that will make your romantic heart swoon? Look no further.
The Two Stars Collison is the third book in the College Boys of New Haven series by Hayden Hall. This college romance is easily read as a standalone.
This one combines nerd/jock, opposites attract, and first times to make it exactly what I crave to read everyday.
I love Miles and Liam and their relationship. They're super adorable together and I love the way everything develops between them.
Their story includes a funny meet cute, and a fake relationship. Yay! I love when a fake relationship leads to love.
The opposites attract factor is huge with this one. One's a science geek who's also a virgin. The other's a jock who's also a frat boy. But they certainly work well together and discover that they get along wonderfully.
I love the chemistry between the two. The connection is instant and the dynamic between them is fabulous.
There are a lot of Star Wars references that fans of the series will love. But, if you're like me and have never even watched Star Wars, it doesn't make it a problem.
I love the author's writing style and the storyline is plenty of fun. There are a lot of secondary characters who fully come to life and add tons to the story.
The Two Stars Collison is a great choice the next time you're in the mood for a college romance. This Hayden Hall tale kept me reading late into the night.
Sometimes love finds two people in the weirdest ways! Two Start Collision is the newest book in the New Haven University Series by Hayden Hall. Liam and Miles first meet in a club after Liam’s long-time girlfriend has dumped him. Trying to make her jealous, he flirts and kisses Miles, someone he has just met. Though at first, Liam thinks he wants his girlfriend back, he also has a strong attraction to Miles as well as a lot more in common than he would have originally thought. During the course of their “fake” relationship we watch as these two become closer and closer sharing a true connection. Liam actually begins to look at his sexuality through new eyes and discovers things about himself he never imagined. Though there are some bumps in the road, this was a light, fun tale that I really enjoyed. Another great story by Hayden Hall.
Here I was thinking I'd begun tiring of the fake boyfriend trope when this delightful gem of a book landed in my Kindle. Adorable, awkward, hilarious, endearing, refreshing - and that's only describing Miles!
He and Liam are such a sweet fake-turned-real couple, and their Star Wars-quoting first encounter has to rank among my favorite romance meet-cutes ever. Miles had me front and center in his cheering section from chapter one, and his HEA with Liam will leave me coasting on a happy-heart high for days.
If you like fake relationships, nerd/jock pairings, first times, endearing and Star Wars-loving MCs, and sweet without sugar-shock love stories, this is a definite one-click. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily. (Also read in KU.)
I really enjoyed this book! You can never go with a good opposites-attract, jock and nerd romance. I absolutely loved reading the way their relationship started and how their relationship progressed throughout the book. After Miles accidently upsets Liam's ex-girlfriend, Liam uses it as an opportunity to piss her off even more. All it takes is one kiss and sparks fly from there!
I loved both Miles and Liam. Liam was an absolute giant teddy bear and I loved how much he cared for Miles. Miles was honestly so adorable and loved him too. Both of them are young and they do fumble a bit but the chemistry and love that they had for one another was off the charts.
Thanks so much for Gay Romance Reviews for providing me with an ARC of the book. These are my honestly thoughts and opinions
I’ve enjoyed all the books in the College Boys of New Haven series, but this might be my favorite. Miles meets Liam at a bar where they have a run-in with Liam’s ex-girlfriend. Liam asks Miles to start a fake relationship to make the ex-gf jealous. While faking it, Liam starts to develop real feelings for Miles, but since he has never been with a guy before, he needs to convince Miles this is real. Miles still has his doubts, thinking how can someone like Liam really be interested in someone like Miles. They have a lot to work through, especially with the toxic ex still in the background. After finding the courage to admit their feelings, they finally get their HEA.
Wildly sweet and adorable. Sexy and fun. Loved this book from start to finish. Nerd/jock, opposites attract. Geeky fun. Miles is still a virgin at 21, never even been kissed. He ends up at a club, also a first. Liam is there at the same club to find his girlfriend there with another guy. He is devastated that his girlfriend has broken up with him. He turns to Miles in an attempt to make his girlfriend jealous. This leads to dancing, kisses and a shared night together. Miles wants to gain more experience while Liam wants to continue making his girlfriend jealous. They enter into a fake relationship where they both get what they want. Will this lead to more? I highly recommend.
This book was really good. This was the third book in the series but it definitely works as a standalone. You won't have any trouble with the plot or character. This is an opposites attract nerd/jock romance with lots of humor and sexxxy times. This was the classic frat boy falling for the geek but it was done really well. Miles and Liam were so adorable together!! It was definitely a collision they connected with from the first time they met! There was definite chemistry between the two of them from the beginning. Loved all the Star Wars quotes. I really like the secondary characters. They really rounded out the story. I can't wait for the next book!
