Everyone knows that summertime is for BBQs, longer nights, posting up with the homies, clubbing, beach days and lakefront nights, music festivals and just living your best care free life! Well this crew in Detroit didn’t get the memo because in addition to some of these things, their summer was filled with scheming, plotting, lies, murder and deceit!

Mozzy is something like the king of Detroit and Bri has coined herself his queen. She has her man and she has her flunkies! What she didn’t plan to have was competition this summer after the cousin of her bffs decide to come and kick it with her fam for the summer.

Paige was a whole vibe and her energy was something both men and women wanted to soak up. Looking to let her hair down and enjoy summer before her next semester of college, she is ready for a summer full of turn ups and minimal turndowns! No one could have prepared for what was in store and to say this was a summer they won’t soon forget is an understatement!

There was soooooooo much happening in this book like A LOT!!! The storyline overwhelmed my emotions at times because while I found myself laughing thanks to Nesha’s signature comedic relief she also had my anxiety kicked into high gear! I was not expecting a few things to play out the way they did and I’m going to need a minute to get over it!

This was 200 pages of action packed, drama filled foolishness! While everyone got what they deserved, I definitely wish Mozzy would’ve been held more accountable for the harsh way he treated Paige! I also enjoyed the cameo from Kim and Check!

This is probably one of my least favorite Nesha books but it delivered pretty much everything we’ve come to expect reading her work! 3.5⭐️’s

This Story Was Interesting

While I love this author’s humor…there’s parts of this story I simply didn’t connect with. There were some characters I didn’t connect with. I did love Paige’s demeanor and the fact that she didn’t allow anyone to bully her…especially Bri, who was the neighborhood bully….I am glad that she and Mozzy found their way together…I’m also glad Soli found his way to Liz and also help her from her toxic relationship with Richie….I wasn’t feeling Lori’s situation….that was ridiculous…..Mills was really the best part of the story….

Another Messy Good Time

If Ladii Nesha writing it, then I’m buying it. Sis has not had a miss yet. She stay with the mess and toxic drama and then sprinkles just the right amount of comedy in.
Paige is returning to her hometown of Detroit for the summer. Her intentions, spend time with her cousins and work at Macy’s until school starts. Paige isn’t looking for love but when she meets Mozzy, things doesn’t go the way she planned. Bri was raised by her brothers and is a little rough around the edges. She’s a hustler by nature, loyal to her brothers, her best friends, the twins and holds it ten toes down for her man Mozzy. That is until the twins cousin Paige returns home for a summer in Detroit. This book has parties, fights, a whole freaking lot of drama and tragedy. This book had me in my feelings, making me laugh and tear up. 🥲

Straight Comedy laced in Reality

I laughed so hard at this book, just like Fraud. It's so sad how jealousy is so real. Love was had, life was lost, and healing began. Choices of so many adults had life long affect on children who became troubled adults. The cycle is so sad. This will be a summer to remember! Well done!! 🎉🎊👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🥳

Ladii Nesha has done it again! This book was so good. I swear it’s a stand up comedy show the whole book when reading her work. From Bebe being called E-40 to Bri big foot ass these characters stay with the jokes. I wasn’t to fond of Mozzy but in the end if Paige like him I love him for her I guess 🤧🤣🤣. Mills was the homie or should I say uncle Mills 🤣. He was by far my favorite character in this book. So I was definitely in my feels about what happened to him. But I forgive Ladii Nesha this time! But don’t let it happen again! 🤣🤣 Can’t wait for what’s next from this author. By the way what is next? 🧐🧐🤣🤣

I read Emotionally Scarred before I read this so I figured there was a reason why I didn’t see Mills in that book. But I was not prepared for him to be killed. He was my favorite. The youngest, and the funniest. He did not deserve that at all, and for it to have been Bri and her crackhead ass brothers???? Richie truly failed his younger siblings smh.

I enjoyed Mills and Soli. Ngl though Lori not messing with anyone the entire series just to turn around and start messing with Bebe was a little too random for me. When Bebe was mentioned when I first started reading I’m like I know damn well she not who Lori with in Emotionally Scarred lol.

All in all I enjoyed the book live I’ve enjoyed everything else I’ve read by Ladii Nesha. The humor is everything for me!

She may be new but she doesn’t miss!! I am completely caught up on this author’s catalog and I am for real a fan. Her books are always unconventional, filled with drama, emotions and a whole lot of laughs. This book was no different.

I loved Paige and Hated Bri and her brothers from the gate. Mozzy made me mad at times but his relationship with Mills and Soli was everything. I went into reading this already knowing what would eventually happen and it still had me crying. That’s how good this author is. Loved it and recommend you read this and her entire catalog as well.

entertaining

While this was very similar to Envy me, my connection to the characters wasn’t the same. I enjoyed Mills, Soli and the twins. Paige was okay, but somehow I couldn’t connect with Mozzy. How he was described and yet how he was portrayed was too different. He gave off a mix between King and Tristan.

Also- I didn’t like there wasn’t any closure with how he treated her after Mills. When he was back with Bri. And even the Brandon situation- Mozzy was doing a lot for a man who was acting like Paige was disposable.

I didn’t like them as a couple. This concluded, but it wasn’t romantically in my opinion.

Still it was entertaining and I enjoyed that very brief glimpse from 2 of my favorite Carters at the casino.

soooo good

This book was sooo good! It had me laughing one minute and crying the next. The drama was nonstop, keeping me hooked from beginning to end. I was so sad when my favorite character passed—even though he wasn’t the main character, his presence was felt. He had such a strong impact on the story and the people around him, and his loss changed everything. The way the author wove his influence into the storyline made his absence even more heartbreaking. This was an emotional rollercoaster, and I loved every second of it!

I always like her books the characters personalities in particular. Mills was hilarious.

I was confused by Liz and the DV thing I didn’t see the love she had so couldn’t make sense why she stayed with Richie or how she and her twin couldn’t detach from Bri until Paige showed them the way.

Overall though and as always a good read!

My First Read

I dived into my first read by this author and was thoroughly pleased with the comedic urban and romantic balance she gave me as a reader. I think she’s definitely created a few characters I will remember when book baes that are blunt and funny are mentioned. Without giving up spoilers, all I will say is that you will NEVER have a dull moment. No one is off limits for jokes being told on or to be plotted on. Well executed!

Wheeeew!

This book was not what I expected, but everything I needed! This set of characters took me through it. I laughed, cussed, and definitely cried my eyes out at times, but in the end, it was a great read.

I’m on the fence.

This was a good hood read. I’m a little on the fence with the storyline. Because Toxic ain’t even the word for Mozzy and Paige. The way he acted I NEVER would’ve allowed him back in my life. I’m mad about Mills. He was is my favorite. I’m mad that the twins were even friends with Bri and I’m glad her whole bloodline is wiped from the earth (or the book’s universe). Soli and Liz kept me cracking up. Mills and all his antics kept me reading, but then I just kept reading to see how he was avenged. Otherwise, I probably would’ve DNF’d this book at like 70-80%. 🤷🏾‍♀️

messy situation

That was a messy situation mozzy had Paige and bri in. As much as I like him he lost a few point due to his actions in the beginning of the book. He knew what the situation was between him & bri and let it get out of hand. The moment he knew he was interested in Paige he should’ve cut Bri COMPLETELY OFF but he played around. Idk how Liz did it with all them beatings WHEW CHILD. I’m glad she finally walked away. A WOMAN SCORN mixed with GREED can be DEADLY. Decent read

Never disappoint

First and foremost I was happy for the Carter’s cameo!

Baby bro shouldn’t have got killed that was a hurt piece.

Bree should have suffered and been tortured a little more.

Paige was dumb to continue dealing with Maz after how he treated her. Grieving or not!

Ladii Nesha is hilarious I love her writing although in every book the same lingo is used.

Two more books to go and I’ll be done with her whole collection

Nope!!!

So I don’t want to give out any spoilers but I will say that I see a trend with all of Ladii Nesha’s books. So it’s okay for one of the MC to act a fool and basically dogged out the other MC. That’s not cool! They always just receive them back without any real apology or remorse. I’m starting to hate that. All I’m going to say is that Moxxy did not deserve Paige!!!

Ugh I didn't like the rushed felt end...but I really enjoyed the book. Mills was it for Mr and it took way to long for Bri to get the ending she deserved. I loved Paige's strength but mozzy was just okay. The book flowed well and I be reading more from the author.

This was a decent book. Mills was funny as hell. I was really sad that he got killed. Bri was definitely a psychopath. So glad she got what she deserved. Towards the end I was mad as hell the way Mozzy treated Paige after his brother’s death.

Pretty good

Ok, this had to be from the beginning of Ladii Nesha’s career because she writes a way better leading man now. As you might see in any other review I’m just as in love with Mills as any other reader he really brought heart to this story and fleshed it out. I would have to say that he’s the character I connected to the most, maybe because of all the emotion he felt and showed. Bebe walking around dressing like E-40 was entirely too hilarious and that turn with Lori at the end of the book shouldn’t even be surprising. The was Mozzy did Paige I really didn’t care for because when you look at the story overall he was the cause of all her problems. He mainly led ole girl on for the longest and she was a goofy guided by her simpleton brothers. Mozzy let her go on thinking they were in a relationship and then he runs into a chick he actually feels and doesn’t dead trifling situations that bring nothing but drama. Hell, he blamed Paige for the shit that happened when in actuality I was really his fault which he never admitted and I feel a certain way because he never even apologized to Paige and nobody told this girl that she was dealing with shit that she just should’ve let go of.

This was ….. interesting….

As always with Ladii Nesha’s book I find it very hard to be able to put it down. This had action, humor and drama like no other. I started off loving the book and then getting to like 60-70% not so much as I thought I would.

I got to a point where I no longer rooted for Mozzy and Paige to be together. The way he started treating her was crazy. The fact that he jumped back to the same woman he told her not worry about was insane to me. Then on top of that after learning what Bri did he still slept with her ? That didn’t even make sense. Like what ? Honestly I went from liking Mozzy to hating him.

Then to make it worse what happened to Mills completely ruined me. He literally made the book. I was crying because why ?

I loved Liz though. Getting her story was more interesting than the main couple to me. I loved her character development and how she finally stood up for herself. I’m so happy for my girl.

I also like Paige too. I loved how she stood up for herself and have some type of standards but towards the end of the book I felt like she lost all of it. After hearing what Bri and Mozzy was doing on the phone and the things he said she still took him back ?????? He didn’t even apologize. He dogged her out the minute his life fell apart and blamed her for what happened even though him messing with her and not tying up loose ended caused everything to go wrong in the first place.

I wanted to love this and I started to at first but things sorta took a turn for the worse.

couldn’t finish (spoiler)

Once i realized it was heading towards something happening to Mills I couldn’t finish. I stopped just to read the reviews to see, and my suspicions were true. I couldn’t finished if his fate wasn’t him dying. Idk why the author did this, he was the BEST character he made the book worth reading. Well I did like the other characters but he gave that comic relief. Because of this I couldn’t in good faith give this book 5 stars, it totally ruined the whole book for me. Idk when he was killed off but I stopped reading when they pulled up on the boys trying to rob him, idk if that was where he was killed but that’s when I felt like something bad was gone happen to him. That’s definitely wasn’t supposed to happen. But I’m not gone lie I figure something would happen to him from the first time they tried to rob him and Mozzy went off on him. But not death. Maybe close to it and then he survived but taking him out was a bad move for me 🤷🏿‍♀️.

Loved every page❤️

Ever since I read Bambi I’ve been hooked on this author’s unique style of writing. The character development, the plot twists, and the right amount of comedy and love always keeps me coming back. This book was dope. Mills...poor Mills😭 he was my favorite character! I loved the relationship between Paige and Mozzy. I couldn’t stand that heaux Bri and I’m glad her and her dirty azz brothers got what they deserved. I could go on and on but one thing I will say is GET THIS BOOK!! It’s not often that I leave reviews but when one touches me in a way that this one had, I feel like I have to encourage other readers to check it out. No lie, this book was by far one of the best I’ve read in 2021. Good job! You’ve a FAN in me!😂❤️💯🙌🏾

A rollercoaster of emotions

This book had my emotions all over the place. I hate Bri killed Mills. He was my favorite character in this book. I expected him to somehow survive. Mills jokes were unmatched. I hated how Lori allowed Richey to treat her, but I was happy to see her move on from him. Liv dating Bebe is crazy, I definitely did not see that coming. Annie and Mills were hilarious, I can’t believe them. I will forever hate Bri character. I wish we could have read more about her suffering along with her brothers. Mr. 2 minutes kept me laughing. I, happy Mozzy was able to continue on with his life. I hate that Mills died, but I’m happy he didn’t sink into depression. Although it’s hard for me to be on hid side after he circled backed to Bri manly self.

LOVED IT

This book was good and funny. I really liked Mills. He was pure entertainment and kept me laughing with his quick combacks and slick jokes. Bri was a jealous snake and got what she deseved along with Richie. I felt bad for Box because he just following his siblings. The twins got on my nerves but I was glad they redeemed themselves and put Bri in her place. Mozzy and Paige were cute together and im glad they stuck it out through all the Bri drama. Really good book that will have you entertained from beginning to end.

I was tickled, happy, screaming, and heartbroken in this book. Paige was an amazing character. Truly one of my favorite female characters written by this authors. She was smart, strong-willed, stood her ground and didn't take no crap from anybody!! I adored her. Mills was too funny and such a lovable character. He made the book an exciting read. Many characters in this book was relatable and lovable and there were several that were easy to hate. I would recommend this in a heartbeat. A great read!!

Great story

This story was all that and then some! I loved how Paige stepped on the scene and wrecked the status quo. Bri was so faulty and ghetto and she got everything that was coming to her. I don’t know how the twins just let her bully them like that, but I’m glad they wised up. Mills Mills why??? That hurt my heart so bad. I loved how thuggery out Mozzy wasn’t afraid to show his feelings. I hope this isn’t the last we see if these characters.

Detroit What?!

Ladii Nesha continues to deliver well written hot messy goodness! Mozzy and Paige’s chemistry was electric. Mills was hilarious and I appreciated seeing the twins’ evolution to finally stand on their own. Bri was treacherous and definitely got what was coming to her. It did seem like Paige forgave Mozzy quicker than I would have BUT I also get that he had her number! Another great read!

Babbyyy these characters are everything you will laugh, cry, and find your boo thang all within a chapter. She he’s a very authentic style of writing that has you hooked from the start and I am a true fan of hers! If you have-not read anything by Ms. Nesha you are missing out🤦🏾‍♀️. Excellent read!

This book was highly entertaining and had me up until 3 am 🤣🤣 I loved Mills & he kept me laughing until he couldn't 🥺 I had to know how Mozzy would get Bri & her brothers and I liked how he did it. As hard as Mozzy worked to get Paige in the beginning, I would have thought Mozzy would have to work twice as hard to get her back after the way he treated & talked to her but that didn't happen. Would love to read about them as well as the twins & Soli in the future!
