I had been waiting for this follow -up since I read THE THREE MRS GREYS last year (and left with a cliffhanger), and TRUTH, LIES, AND MR GREY is one vengeful and dramatic read I really enjoyed. I loved the fast paced writing and perfectly interwoven storylines presented in multiple point of views. The plotting was so fun to read giving the unexpected twists and a few surprises. I enjoyed following through with the story and Cyrus' three vengeful and betrayed wives, Vanessa, Noelle, and Diamond. This is definitely an addictive series that I recommend.

This is how you write a sequel!! Shelly Ellis answered all of our unanswered questions from book 1. The lies, secrets, and of course the truth came out. I was totally satisfied with the outcome of this story once everything was said and done. I highly recommend you read the series. Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington for providing me with this ARC.

Let’s talk about Cyrus.

Yeah… let’s talk. About. Cyrus.

Bruh. Sometimes I read a book and I’m sad for the person who is murdered. No such feeling here. This followup to Three Mrs. Greys by Shelly Ellis is everything I needed, you hear me?!

I’ve been reading Shelly since The Gibbons Goldigger days, the Chesterton Scandal Days, the scintillating soapy romance days. I’ve followed her through her journey into suspenseful, dramatic fiction with the Branch Avenue Boys series (not to mention her great literary fiction novels under other names) and now domestic thrillers with Three Mrs Greys and sometimes I’m like… HOW DO YOU EVEN DO IT ALL SO WELL?

I’ve always said that Shelly writes the kind of books where you need a bowl of popcorn and a beverage because it’s like watching the best movie. More than one person in Cyrus’ life had a reason to be happy he was about to be up outta here. So many problems would be resolved when Cyrus died.

But he’s not dead. And he’s real ticked off that somebody tried to off him.

Thus begins a diabolical chain of actions that begins with pretending to be sicker than he is to gain sympathy and keep the feds at bay and ends in a masterfully written scene that may have you applauding as you read.

Cyrus isn’t the only person in this book with a plan. Vanessa has a plan. So does Tariq. Diamond and Noelle could stand to move on from Cyrus.

Does anybody get what they want?

I think I ate this book up in just a few hours so it’s not long at all, while also being JAM. PACKED with action. Yall! The timeline absolutely snaps while the POV makes the rounds between Cyrus, his wives (Noel, Diamond & Vanessa) and the people intricately woven into this novel.

And at the end, ask yourself if everyone -wives and accomplices included- got what they deserved.

I cannot wait to see what Shelly has up her sleeve next! Grab this book- but you HAVE TO read Book 1 first so get it today, read it and be ready for this book to drop March 29th.

295-page Kindle Ebook story ends on page 291
Three Mrs. Greys #2

Genre: Mystery, Thriller > Mystery Thriller; Women's Fiction, Suspense, Cultural > African American; Marriage, Adult Fiction

Featuring: Affluence, DMV and Surrounding Areas, Bigamy, Violence, Sex - On Camera, Profanity, Discussion Questions

Rating as a movie: R for adult content including violence, strong sexual content, and language

My rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My thoughts: I'm mad that the table of contents promised a teaser chapter and there was none! This story wasn't as good as the first one.

Recommend to others?: Sure. You have to read it after the cliffhanger of the first book.

Favorite Quotes:

With his horn-rimmed glasses, drab gray suit, and his leather satchel thrown over his shoulder, he had to be the nerdiest-looking Black man she’d ever seen in her life. Well, that wasn’t true. He was maybe a distant second to Steve Urkel. He had absolutely no swag and stood out like a sore thumb among all the other men in the room, making her laugh to herself.

“Mama, why do you insist on talking about regular people like they’re peasants?” “Because they are, as far as I’m concerned.” The older woman shoved her sunglasses back up the bridge of her button nose. “I didn’t marry three wealthy husbands because I was enamored with being ‘regular,’ sweetheart. I put up with a lot of bullshit so I wouldn’t have to be that anymore.”

She wondered why she hadn’t spotted the resemblance before. Maybe it was because their temperaments were so different. Whereas Darius came off cool and calm as a soothing creek in the forest, Tariq was a sleeping volcano, with bubbling magma just beneath the surface, ready to explode when you least expected it. Unfortunately for Darius, a creek couldn’t quell a volcano, no matter how hard he tried.

Tariq was a hustler. A survivor. A chameleon. Darius swore Tariq had nine lives— unfortunately, he suspected all those lives would be lonely ones.

My Review:

The conclusion to the saga was quite a riveting tale and had a rather bittersweet ending for my favorite characters, although some finally got what was due them. The entire cast of disagreeable and questionable characters from book one carried over with a few new additions added into the mix. The intriguing storylines were active, taut with tension, and well-honed with sharp imagery, bad decisions, and impending peril. The writing was emotive and on point, while peppered with liberal use of the “n-word” which I found rather unsettling as I have been conditioned to find any use of the pejorative quite jarring and oddly far more egregious than profanity.

It was fine a good sequel but another cliffhanger ending that I hate and I didn’t like Tarik’s ending it seemed lazy cause the final act especially with the video situation was bullshit and counter to the character she had developed for him.

Vanessa, the first wife of Cyrus Gray is dealing with the aftermath from the previous book. After the alarming discovery that her husband was not only unfaithful, she learned that he had married two other women. Naomi, a former model and Diamond, the woman that was with him when he was shot has now been accused of Cyrus’s attempted murder.

This is a multiple POV novel. In this book we get to hear Cyrus’s perspective. He’s a brutal, conniving man but it was interesting to read his arrogant viewpoint and possible discover why someone wanted to kill him. I had to roll my eyes a few times so that means he was written like the perfect antagonist.

I enjoyed so many things about this book from Vanessa’s bougie mother who drops some funny gems, it was good to see Naomi story develop and see what would happen to Diamond. If you like steamy bedroom scenes you get some of that too.

This was a page-turner and I don’t want to give too much away. This was a wonderful conclusion to this saga. I recommend this book to folks who love soap operas, thrillers, and romance. Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington for providing me with this ARC.

There really shouldn’t been a second book. I felt like it held my attention but it wasn’t jaw dropping. It was just drama from the last book completely unfolding.
Vanessa and the whole Bilal plot was old and stale as it could get. Should’ve just got some divorce papers baby and let the chips fall where they may…. But she didn’t so it literally came back to haunt her. I don’t feel bad for her. I never liked her character.
Noelle was probably the only one I felt sorry for. She did get some kind of resemblance of what her heart desired at the end so that was good enough for me.
Diamond irritated my soul in the last book, but she had some redeeming qualities this time around. She definitely got a happy ending and I guess she kind of deserved it because she probably got the worse treatment in the first book with them attempted murder charges.
I’m glad this is the last book and if it’s not, I won’t be reading it.

Well dang!!!
I didn’t think I’d enjoy this one as much as Book 1 because, how often does that happen? But Ms Ellis did not disappoint.
I was sucked into this world and couldn’t leave until the final page.

The book was so intense with all the drama. It kept me on my toes even though some parts were predictable. My problem is the ending. It was a horrible way to end the book on a cliff hanger. Also was very unexpected. I did not see it coming.

In the second book of this series, we find out what a terrible and despicable man Cyrus Grey really was. Not only was he married to three women but his money was mostly made illegally and it didn't bother him at all if he needed to kill a person who betrayed him. Cyrus was getting stressed over the marital life that he's created for himself - it was getting hard to maintain three homes, three women and a myriad of secrets. How will he cope with the mess that he's gotten himself into and is there a way out of it all?

The three women react very differently when they find out that they are only one of three of his current wives.

-Vanessa continues her affair with her younger soccer coach but leads him on so that he will help her kill Cyrus. She knows that as the first wife, she is the legal wife and she and her children will be well provided for after his death.
-Noelle feels cheated. The marriage hadn't been too great but she stayed because she wanted children. She ends up having an affair with Cyrus's business partner who shares lots of secrets with her about their business. She fears for the lives of the other two wives and tries to warn them but there is no trust between the three of them and each of them have a goal of being the only wife standing at the end.
-Diamond is still in love with Cyrus and would take him back no matter what. She is finally living a life away from her past as a sex worker but ends up in trouble when she contacts her former pimp to find out if he knew who shot Cyrus. Because of her past, Diamond is accused of the shooting and put in jail.

All three of these women are visited by detectives who don't understand how they each had no idea about the other two. I must say that I thought both of the detectives were pretty hateful to these women in their precarious situations but the police were interested in finding out who shot Cyrus and not in playing nice with the wives.

Like the first book, the story is told in alternating chapters by the three wives but this time, there are added chapters from Cyrus. In his chapters, it's apparent what a despicable and manipulative and egotistical person he really was.
Will any of these three women get their happy ending and will they learn that there is no happy ending in staying married to Cyrus?

This book was a page turner life the first one and I ended up reading it in one day. All of the people in both books are easy to dislike because they aren't very nice people. All of the changes that occur to the women in this book make two of them shine because of changes they make but one of them never changes.

I really enjoyed this two book series by Shelly Ellis, a new author for me. I'm going to go back and read some of her earlier books since I enjoyed this series so much.

Cyrus Grey is home recuperating after the events at the end of the last book and his marriage to three women come to light. Vanessa, his first wife, mother of his children is stuck at home with Cyrus and his non stop demands. She’s trying to keep her young lover interested so he will help her murder Cyrus.
Noelle is ready to move on. She’s found new love with Tariq but may lose everything, including her life as Cyrus vows revenge.
Princess is the only one who still loves Cyrus although she has been accused of his attempted murder.
This time we also hear from Cyrus, who may be wearing designer clothes and live in a mansion but is still the ruthless street thug who will resort to murder to protect what he thinks belongs to him.
This was a great sequel to “ The Three Mrs. Greys” which a fun read. The three women are messy, messy and I’m here for it! I don’t think there are any big reveals but this is just a quick, fun read.

The finale to The Three Mrs. Greys and oooooh the drama just keeps coming. So, after the semi-cliffhanger of the first book, where do all of our characters end up?

All in all, I loved this duology~ the storylines were wild, the characters were so well-developed, and there were a lot of twists and turns that I wasn't expecting, and the ones I was, even though I knew they were coming, I didn't know how they would end up. Love it and definitely recommend~ This book does have harsh language, open door spiciness, and violence, so it's not the lightest read, but it's also not a bunch of gratuitous violence for no reason. Looking forward to reading more from this author~

truth lies and Mr. Grey #2, by Shelly Ellis, 2022 Diamond, Noelle & Vanessa. As Cyrus Grey recovers from a near fatal shooting, the women who each thought they were his only wife are fighting. The characters names are rather unusual and their back story is unbelievable however, the author's English and grammar really made the reading of the book enjoyable.

I just want to start by saying that Cyrus Grey is every woman’s worst nightmare. This is the 2nd book in a series. How he got away with having three wives at the same time, is a mystery. However, all three now know about each other. Beyond his wives, there are multiple people that want Cyrus dead. He also has reasons to want his wives eliminated. The reader gets a good look into each wife’s story and motivations. This makes for a fast paced, action filled story. I must admit to a few twists I didn’t see coming, which I always love. I look forward to more from this author. I received a free ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own. 3.5 stars

Loved this book! My type of book…romance, lies, deceit! It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time! I didn’t particularly care for the all the wives, mainly Vanessa and Noelle, but 🤷🏽‍♀️. The conflict (fight) between Tariq and Cyrus could have offered a bit more…it ended to quickly for my liking. Especially considering how much they both hated each other. Overall, this a phenomenal book and I truly enjoyed it. Can’t wait to read more of Shelly Ellis’ books. If you haven’t read this book, go check it out! You won’t be disappointing!

More like 3.5 stars. Quick, mindless and entertaining read with over the top drama and colorful characters. Who am i kidding. These characters are crazy AF. Their first name is DRAMA. As mindless as these books are, I’m Looking forward to the third book in the series. Because sometimes I don’t want to take life so seriously and am okay with being swept away with a little craziness.

I actually listened to this book. I didn't like the narrator, her voice was annoying. Bring back the first narrator. But, the storyline was pretty decent. It answered all the questions from the previous book, but left another cliffhanger. I would definitely recommend reading, not listening, to the book, especially if you read book one.
