Arus Bor'vak understands machines better than people. He likes them better, too, so when human women begin to populate the Stryxian settlements, he finds it best to give them a wide berth. They’re beautiful, soft, and utterly incomprehensible, and none captures his attention like Keira Becker, the strong ex-lieutenant who makes him lose his tongue in her presence.
Keira Becker finds the brilliant Stryxian engineer very attractive, but his aloof demeanor makes it clear that he’s not looking to get to know her—or anyone—better. He may be the only male she’s remotely interested in, but his shell is too thick to crack…until they are sent on a mission together to investigate a strange explosion in an uninhabited part of Stryxia.
When their transport is destroyed and the group is scattered, Arus and Keira awaken to find themselves shackled together in a forest that shouldn’t exist in a barren stretch of Stryxia. Something hunts them as they navigate poisonous creatures, carnivorous plants, and their own undeniable desires. Their skills and hearts are tested, but nothing can prepare them for what happens when the chains come off and they face the creator of the mysterious forest.
This is book five of the Stryxian Alien Warrior series but it can be read alone with no cliffhangers and no cheating. I write what I love to read, so there is always consent and always a happy ending.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 🖤💙❤️💖 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📔 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍 Character development: 😄🙂🥰☺️ Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Keira - she is a former lieutenant in the military and signed up early for the lottery that chose women to move to Stryxia after both worlds were devastated by the Morr’ta. The majority of human males were lost in the war with the Morr’ta and Stryxian society was dying out when a plague wiped out most of their females. Though Kiera has been on Stryxia for a while now, she hasn’t found a mate.
The Hero:Arus - he is a Stryxian and basically a mechanical engineer. When his world was nearly destroyed by the Morr’ta and the air became too bad to breathe, they began living in domed cities and Arus came up with a way to increase the oxygen output, he became sort of famous after that, with many people wanting him to help with new projects. He was a loner and had trouble talking to women, so he expected to be alone his whole life. He can create or fix bots for just about anything in his workshop. He also had a bit of a crush on the human female Kiera but couldn’t really talk to her.
The Story: When a problem is found on the planet, with a lush forest suddenly springing up where a desert had been, a group was chosen to go research what was happening. Arus was chosen and Kiera was chosen as the leader of the military force that would protect Arus and the other intelligent minds that were sent to figure out the issue. This forced proximity, helped the two of them to get to know each other better.
The story was interesting, and the book was about as steamy as I expected. Though nothing spectacularly new and different as far as alien romance goes. I did like the storyline about what was happening out in the desert. I also liked both characters. I thought Arus was cute as a somewhat grumpy loner who didn’t expect much out of life but just wanted to be left alone, while still having such an attraction to the human female.
This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Elle Sonali and Zachary Johnson. These are both good narrators with great voices. Neither are my favorites, but they do a great job on this book.
Stryxian Alien Warrior Series. Like most alien novels, there was a galactic war. And like most alien romance novels, it involves human women for brides. The Morr-tas attacked Earth. The Stryxians came to our aide under the condition that once the war was over, Earth provided females for Stryxian males. They were having some issue with only producing male offspring and it was jeopardizing the future of their race. Earth was running a little short on men due to sending them all as soldiers to fight the battle. This series takes place at the point where the Morr-ta war was won, and it is time to pay up (by the means of women). All unattached women of child bearing age were entered into a lottery. Once picked, they were shipped to a settlement where they would choose their alien to mate with. Around book 4, however, the lottery system was abolished, and turned to a strictly voluntary deal. With the lack of human men, they were able to complete the agreement with volunteers alone. The Stryxians were gorgeous masculine beings. They stood at 7 feet tall, covered in muscles and gray skin with scales, sharp facial features, thick leathery wings arced from their backs, with black eyes that only changed colors when they were mated. They all basically looked like Greek Gods, but better.
Chained by the Stryxian is book 5 in this series, and follows Arus and Kiera in a first person perspective. This relationship developed outside the lottery women. Lieutenant Kiera Becker was a human, retired member of the U.E.A., who volunteered to be a Stryxian mate. She moved through several settlements, not finding her mate, until she found herself in Trakia where only one alien caught her attention. Arus Bor’vak is a Stryxian that lives in the Trakia settlement which Xarik now runs. He actually followed Kiera to Trakia when she moved from his last settlement. We’ve met him a couple times in previous books as the tech genius who prefers to live by himself, away from other beings, with his gadgets. He is not very good at socializing as he was alone most of his life. But he was infatuated with Kiera, even though he couldn’t bring himself to talk to her.
I felt like the entire plot of this book was silly and unnecessary. Here’s how I picture the inner dialogue from the author: “Let’s see… I need a way to bring these two characters together… well they already live in the same settlement together, so I could just get them to talk to each other. NAH, too realistic. Oh! I know… How about I create a magical being that has left his body and exists only by his soul in smoke form… Then, I figure out a way to trap these two in the middle of a forest, that’s in the middle of a desert, and handcuff them together for no reason whatsoever? Yes… I’m onto something.”
Anyway, that dialogue basically summed up the entire book. I was SO BORED and sped-read the last half of the book. I mean… really? You couldn’t think of a better, or simpler way, to get these two love birds together? These plots are getting more and more unrealistic. It’s worth an eye roll.
Stryxians have a 6 inch tongue and their cocks are similar to a human’s, but bigger, with a series of ridges running parallel to the head, along the top of the shaft. (Picture a cock with speed bumps that expand your lips upon gliding over.) Arus and Kiera didn’t get intimate until well past 50% into the book. It took longer than the previous books to achieve erotic pleasure. Which was unrealistic, considering these two knew each other pretty dang well before the book even began. Their love-making was passionate, as displayed in prior books. Arus is painted to be timid and inexperienced, with Kiera taking the lead in intimacy. Which is fine, to each their own. I just prefer my romance novels to have a capable male figure who knows what he wants and chases it. Unfortunately, the romance has become mundane and repetitive; almost boring now that I’m 6 books in. Same story, different couple.
This was probably the worst book in the series so far. Because I’m committed at this point, I feel obligated to finish the series. Onto the next book…

Oh my Godzilla! What an exciting book! Look, I fell into this book from the first chapter right through to the last. The action in the plot is mesmerizing and easy to picture in your mind as the pages turn. Every near-death experience had me holding my breath in anticipation to see how they make it through. Azur and Kiera, take a long time to become a thing, but in the meantime, they fall into a trap-like game and face an unknown foe. The drama is high, the unexpected twists keep your attention, and I really had high hopes for the little helpless thing. I enjoyed reading this story so much, I wish the next book was ready to go already, but the mental images from this story are still resonating in my brain, and for me, that's the best kind of story to get stuck on!
Oh man, we have a new enemy to worry about! The Stryxians finally defeated Sleer and here comes a new greedy gutbucket. But Arus and Keira found their way to each other and I was so glad that Arus got a story. I found him to be adorable in all his social awkwardness in the last book and Keira was just the type of mate he needed. Ms. Blake creates some of the most likable characters in Sci-fi romance and I will immediately read a new book as soon as it comes out. I love her world building and all the interesting plots. If you like alien romance and an entertaining read you will love this book and this series.
Chained to the Stryxian is book 5 in the Stryxian Alien Warriors series. It is an off-planet, alien romance. I have really enjoyed this series so far and this book is no different. This was a quick listen. I liked the main characters and their adventure. I also really liked Keira's new pet. The narration was good. I recommend this series for anyone who enjoys fun alien romance stories. I love to listen to these as palate cleansers between genres or after a heavy book. They are perfect for that. 4.5 stars.
This was an unusual book. Reminded me a little of Alice in wonderland (just the world). Had beings and things that were not your normal reading. Did wish the author had more of their return and a glimpse a year later and less of the forest, such as the ship scene (not needed).
That was some adventure! In a forest where everything wants to kill you and a mercenary planning to eradicate Arus and sell Kiera to a brothel. I even feared for their lives. Good thing about it, Arus has recognized his mala and Kiera had gotten what she desired. It was a hea after all.
So exciting! A forest pops up in a desert and it's full of scary monsters! Wow! Arus is an impressive alien but comes off as a jerk because he doesn't communicate well. Super fun book.
I'm a big fan of all Ella Blakes books, and this one did not disappoint. Great heroine, sweet socially awkward hero , a mysterious forest and some cute furry critters. A fun light read.
Strong silent intelligent type running from love looses to biological instinct and determined warrior female in love. Highly reccommend this story and the previous four. Resent having to wait 3 months for next book to come out.
I’m so glad Arus got his story. It was an exciting, steamy, read. Arus and Kiera are part of a team sent to investigate an anomaly in the Stryxian desert. There they encounter Sitral, a Sleer minion, who does his best to end them. Steamy Hot! 🙂
This is the kind of ... Forgetting about lunch have to stay in up late night. Wow!! This is how adventures with loads of suspense. It's a mix of earth and very small alien language involved. I wish it was more true to the book. But still hot ,spicy, sexy .
This story was so much better than the last one. It was so interesting and kept you interest the entire time. The plot was great and the characters were likeable. Well worth reading.
I'm really enjoying this series. You don't have to start from the beginning, each book is a side- quest of a progressive alien world storyline. Generally these books are light on triggers but they do exist.
Whew this one was a doozy. I have to be honest here. I actually enjoyed the story line a lot more with this one than I thought I would. I don’t know why but I did. Crazy
Whoa this book was CRAZY in a good way though! I NEVER would have guessed the plot at all! It was so good and watching Keira and Arus work together was beautiful! This story was awesome ijs
To fairy tale and back. This was an interesting break from the former tales in the series. It has all the tropes of fairy tales, including magical creatures that respond to kindness with kindness. I enjoyed this one a lot
With the death of the previous villain, it was interesting to see who the new villain would be. An enjoyable story, except for how the heroes are saved at the last second by ... (Ha! No spoiler here.)
The premise of this story is so cool! Kind of like a science fiction Jurassic Park. And of course there is lots of sexual tension, emotional bonding, and a happily ever after!
Arus and Keira are a wonderful match. Their adventure was exciting and I would love to see more of their future lives together. They have a long, wonderful road ahead.
The circumstances Kiera and Arus get thrust into are somewhat suspect but romance ensues. Arus is a genius and with the unexpected rescue ensures the HEA.
Another fantastic book I can’t wait for the next one…I really love the bonus at the end …I like how you have pets in the books…I’m a huge animal lover….Thank you
