An Amazon exclusive! In this romantic comedy mystery, a young woman discovers that life is like an elevator--just be sure to get off on the right floor.
Hello. My name is Virginia, although I live in Georgia… Atlanta, to be precise. Two years ago I happily clutched my degree in Hospitality Management, smug with the knowledge that I would always have job security because no matter what, people would always travel, right? And then the pandemic happened. It’s hard to complain about losing my job in the midst of so much tragedy, but it came on the heels of a bad breakup, and being partially abandoned by my nomad parents. I was shook.
Thank goodness the economy is starting to reopen, but because so many hotels have closed permanently, there are three people for every hospitality job available, and I don’t have enough seniority to even warrant an interview. So when I heard of an opening at a historic hotel in Midtown that’s allegedly haunted, I showed up in person to beg for the job. I naively told the eccentric owner I’d do anything… and that’s how I wound up being an Elevator Girl.
What’s an Elevator Girl? Stay tuned, friends, for the story. There are ghosts, an unsolved murder, and some of the most oddball guests imaginable. Oh, and the mind-bending secret I stumbled upon in the basement. In between I spend a LOT of time riding up and down, wondering where my life went wrong and how I can get off this ride. _________________________
USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
The 70's were an interesting time. I was in junior and senior high. Graduated in '76. The times were fun and the description in this book about how people were more into the experience then being showy is very accurate. Cell phones have ruined the social aspect. When you went out you were there to enjoy and not worried about what people would think and how you looked. Great times! Now onto the story and there are some new "players" and some devastating news. The time travel is interesting. I have my theories as to what happens. We shall see.
This is part 3 of 6 part daily serial, part three is month of September.
Loving the concept of this daily serial, “What's an Elevator Girl? Stay tuned, friends, for the story. There are ghosts, an unsolved murder, and some of the most oddball guests imaginable. Oh, and the mind-bending secret I stumbled upon in the basement. In between I spend a LOT of time riding up and down, wondering where my life went wrong and how I can get off this ride.”
This serial just gets better and better, Virginia is really getting herself involved in her job as Elevator Girl, to the post of going above and beyond her actual job description, what with trying to solve a murder, travelling where she’s not mean to and suffering health problems because of it. I can’t wait to see what she does next, love her dedication though.
I love that they are short, quick reads, heading straight into part 4 which is the month of October.
Book 3 is the month of September in the Elevator Girl serial that runs from July through December. The books are broken down into daily segments that tell the story. Virginia really needs a job and finally gets hired as an Elevator Girl at the Coronado Hotel which is decorated like the 1970`s. The hotel is having financial problems. Virginia sees a ghost in an Elevator Girl uniform and becomes interested in the story of her death. The characters are likable, there is potential romance, and the mystery of Eloise's death is intriguing. Stephanie Bond writes the Body Movers series and several characters appear in this serial which makes it even more fun!
Wow this series is incredible. Elevator girl is scary, thought provoking and for big chickens like me did I say scary. You just don’t know what is going to happen next. Lots of great characters Virginia the elevator girl has truly gotten herself into the middle of 2 very different worlds you might say. Virginia works at a hotel where his parallel is happening can not say to much. I do not want to ruin it for anyone but this is a must read as is all the series written by this author Stephanie Bond. Ok moving on to book 4 in the series with great trepidation yikes Stephanie ! However you came up with this story you hit the jackpot it’s awesome.
Virginia and Eloise talk. Going back and forth from one time to another can cause headaches and both women are having them. Virginia likes the bartender Alec who is in the 1971 time period.
Virginia gets to see some relatives of hers in the past. Virginia comes up with a plan to warn Eloise of what might happen to her but the question is will that idea work or be blocked by some principle about not changing the past?
I have read everything this author has written but I like the serials most of all. I look forward to the next installments and when the next novelella is released I am like a kid in Christmas morning. No spoilers here, if you are looking for the thrill of a well written mystery, look no farther and read Elevator Girl.
I ended up reading the whole book before realizing it. I just kept reading not paying attention to the date. The things that happen during the month are both interesting and heartbreaking. I still am not sure what really happened to Eloise but I do have an unexpected suspect in mind now.
I loved this month's serial storyline and story progression. Is there a way to stop Eloise's death? Great cliffhanger at the end I can't wait to discuss this with Stephanie's Facebook group. I also can't wait until October's serial. I highly recommend Stephanie Bond's Daily Serials and books. Thank you Stephanie for sharing your creative mind.
Oh my gosh I hills the last book explains everything! What if it was Archie who killed Eloise? Or maybe she is killed over and over again every current year by different people who find the portal?
I think maybe Eloise is forgetful because Virginia keeps going back in time and altering it just enough that it affects memory. This is all so crazy!
I am loving this book. I love the mystery and the time travel thing. I’m from the seventies and it brings back so many memories of my room, my clothes, and the music. Wish I was there again.
I am loving Elevator Girl! Time travel, the 1970s, Murder, Romance, and an interesting group of characters (including those from The Body Movers series). Looking forward to Parts 4, 5 and 6.
Am following the Elevator Girl series. Love the paranormal subject matter. Can't wait to read number four. Virginia is charming! The series is very engaging. Thanks to Stephanie Bond.
It was difficult to wait for the next day... I think this is my favorite Girl so far! The story is fun, though I'm not sure about some of the supporting characters. Kristina and her parents have, so far, served no purpose. Gimme more of the 70's!!
I'm really enjoying the cereal nature of this story, very old fashioned, like when Charles Dickens published his books in weekly installments. Fortunately for me, they're all available aT once.
This series is so fun to read its like we the readers are right there with Stephanie the characters are so well written that as a reader you can visualize everyone
Just when I thought I was about to solve this mystery well, you get it, gotta go onto book 4, and it’ll probably just take one day to get through it because I can’t wait to see how this all ends!
This serial just gets better with each installment. I’m fully invested and can’t put it down. Each new clue is just adding to the suspense. On to the next month to see where the story will go!
