There are many who dream of fame. Many more dream of Marshall Jones, Project Viper’s irresistible frontman.
Alexandra gets a shot at both, millions of admirers and the hotshot singer’s heart, but nothing ever comes for free. She loses everything to land a spot with Project Viper as their new bassist—
Hold it. Alexandra’s a singer who’s never held a bass guitar in her life.
Alone and reeling from a tragedy that altered her whole life, she’s desperate for a fresh start and a new family. Mastering the bass and impressing five hardcore rockers, all in only six months, is doable. Really. And it’s okay that Marshall absolutely hates her. No big deal at all.
Only it is. Of course it is.
Marshall’s sultry green eyes and brooding, reluctant curiosity ignite heart-stopping sparks whenever their glances collide.
But sparks won’t stop Marshall from forcing Alexandra out of his band family.
She’s inexperienced, maddening, hair black as midnight, lips sweet as— Whatever she is, for the good of Project Viper, Alexandra must leave. If he has to break her heart to make her gone, so be it.
The joke’s on him though. There’s nothing left to break, and Alexandra’s left with no other choice than to aim for the impossible—tame the unreasonable singer and win her place with the band.

This story will hit the spot hard if you're into quirky rock stars, young love, finding a new family, and winning against all odds, all wrapped in a lighthearted "k-drama" style.
unREASONable is a sweet rockstar romance. Heat level: PG-13 (kissing, mild sensuality).
5/5 ✰ - thank you book sirens for sending this my way!
one of my new fav books 🫶
wow. i am absolutely flabbergasted. this ya romance book was a whole rollercoaster, filled with tension, jealousy, secrets, ANGST. SO MUCH ANGST & drama, but i loved every second of it.
Project Viper is a rock band, and when they need a new bassist, they agree to hiring one for six months, without auditions or interview. That’s when Alexandra walks in, and Marshall, the lead singer, hates her right away. When the line between love and hate starts to thin, the two start to realize how much in common they really do have.
i particularly liked this book because of how I could relate to Marshall. the main reason why he hates alexandra when they first meet is because of his fear of change. this fear can be so easily dismissed but i’m really happy the author chose to include it!
edit: i don’t think i realized until now how much i related to marshall. he’s my new comfort character, i love him so much.
i also loved alexandra’s character, she was strong and passionate about her talent and won’t let anyone get in the way of that! but i also love that we got to see her vulnerable side as well!
this was my first arya matthews book and i was NOT disappointed!! arya matthews’s writing keeps you intrigued and entertained while also pulling at your heart strings! i’m so excited to continue the series!
“I don’t like her. I need her in order to think, to breathe, to feel like my heart is still there.”
Marshall Jones is lead singer and plays guitar in Project Viper. Their bassist, CJ, really hates playing bass and prefers playing guitar. The band agrees to a new bassist sight unseen for six months. Alexandra Lermontova is their new bassist and backup singer. She’s young and inexperienced, but the record label gives her six months to fit in with the band. If the band doesn’t want her when the six months are up, she’s out. I enjoyed the reactions of the band members as they realized Alexandra was their bassist instead of a guy. I enjoyed the banter among the band members. All the characters were great. I loved the burgeoning friendship between Marshall and Alexandra. They had great chemistry and I was rooting for them to get together. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read the others in this series.

I had things to do today! And yet, I read all day! Cannot even be mad because it was so good, such an easy read!
I saw an ARC for the fifth book in this series and you’ll be impressed cause I decided to not take it and start with book #1 (which was also available). I KNOW, IMPRESSIVE RIGHT? I’ve said it before but I really don’t mind going in a series like this one all Star wars style, so for me it’s impressive to actually start from the beginning. 😂 So glad I did but now I love every damn character in the series and want to know their stories (Who am I kidding, I do not WANT to know it, I NEED TO KNOW IT, like right now!!!)
So, being the impulsive human being I am, I just ordered the 5 books online. Will keep you guys updated when I get them! I’M SO EXCITED!!!
Ok let’s talk about the actual book!
After losing everything, Alexandra gets a shot at becoming Project Viper´s new bassist. Only two small details; she has never played bass guitar in her life and the group doesn’t want her, especially their frontman, Marshall. She’s desperate for a fresh start after all that happened to her, but Marshall is as desperate to make her leave. Will Alexandra be able to win her place in the band and in Marshall ‘s heart along the way?
As already said, I loved every character! All so welcoming and teasing each other playfully all the time. They really are a family and you just want to be part of it. I did enjoy the cultural elements that are parts of that book with Alexandra being Russian and Zach Korean (he’s the one that caught my eye on book 5’s cover I totally blame him for making me buy 5 books when I should be on a book buying ban). Anyways, I loved that instead of just stating where those characters are from, we learned a little about the culture through them, even if it’s just words here and there or food, I really enjoy these details!
I have to mention that talking about Star Wars and k-dramas is the way to my heart, and this book did BOTH!
If you like enemies to lovers, rockstars, found families, fighting for what you want, YA romance, you’ll enjoy for sure! I LOVED IT.
Thanks to Booksirens and the author for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This blurb had me thinking this book was young and angsty and it was, which was good because I was feeling a bit of angst myself. I like this group of rockstar friends and how they are family to each other. This is an easy read, a nice diversion. This is my first book by this author and I'll be coming back for the next book in this series.
When Alexandra experiences personal tragedy, she must leave Russia and everything she has ever known. Project Viper is her favorite band and she is given an incredible chance to be the band’s new bassist. Although is a musician who specializes in vocals, the band already has a vocalist and she must quickly learn to play the bass up to professional standards. Marshall, Project Viper’s lead vocalist, hates change. He likes his band the way it is and is grouchy and unfriendly, but he is drawn to the attractive new bassist.
This book is their love story and is a cute and satisfying read. Heat level is mostly kisses and mild sensuality, so if you are looking for a sweet, clean rockstar romance, you will enjoy this book. I thought it was a little unrealistic that a brand-new bass player would be given the chance to be in a major rock band, but the character does work hard, which is shown in the story. The inner workings of a world-class rock band were very interesting to read about and I also enjoyed that aspect of the book. This is the first book in a planned series, and I would definitely read the other books.

Fun romance with deep characterization, FANTASTIC writing, nice chemistry, and endearing characters.
- slow burn - found family - Rock star band - MMC that resists his feelings
The boy bandmates are sweet and all-around wonderful. They have all had difficult family lives growing up and have found strength and belonging in each other and their music. They don’t drink or do drugs, they are on an exercise and diet regimen, they aren’t prideful or entitled. They practice for hours, play around a lot, and enjoy each other and life. Their entire aura is wholesome. I absolutely loved that.
Content- Language- none Substance abuse- none Spice- clean Cliffhanger- no. Standalone. I’ll continue the series. Cover- I like it! Format- KU
How I rated the series-
Book 1, “Unreasonable” (Marshall)- 4 stars Book 2, “Unbreakable” (CJ)- 4 stars Book 3, “Unsustainable” (Shane)- 3.5 stars Book 4, “Unbeatable” (Graham)- 2.5 stars Book 5, “Unspeakable” (Zach)- 2.5 stars
When Project Viper is looking for a new bass player, they didn't expect Alexandra. She's tiny, Russian and a woman. Marshall, the frontman for the group, is both smitten and disgusted. He just came seem to decide which one he wants to be so it is confusing for Alexandra. Alexandra has six months to prove herself to the group or she will be released. Most of the other members of the group seem to be onboard with this change pretty quickly, except Marshall. Due to his upbringing, he has trust issues and he just keeps getting in his own way. There is a spectacular happy ending and I can't wait for the next one.
This book doesn't describe the typical bad boy behavior of rockstars so it is a pretty clean read.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
Such a cute book. Wish we had more moments of them when they got together
“I need her in order to think, to breathe, to feel like my heart is still there. I refused to see it, but now I know why I resisted the change Alexandra brought with her. It’s not about the band. It’s about me. She changed me. She proved to me that I want that kind of a relationship. I want to hold a hot-blooded, living girl, snuggle her on the couch, kiss her in the dark, be jealous when she looks at someone else. I never thought being in love would alter me so much, but it did and still does. I feel like I’m alive for the first time”
This was my first read from this author. I absolutely loved the first person point of view this is always a deal breaker for me. I love reading stories about rockstars and this one did not disappoint. Marshall was a great hero and for me it's a guy who makes or breaks the story. I received an ARC copy of this book through BookSirens in exchange for an honest voluntary review.

This was not only slowburn on steroids. It was also all kinds of entertaining, delightful, enfuriating drama that caused me to feel all the emotions in an unhealthy cycle of 5 seconds ontervals.
Call me a sad girl, call me a masochyst, but I loved the whole process of Marshall an Alexandra's rollercoaster of a relationship (yes, I loved it even when I wanted to punch Marshall's nose off his face- which was more often than I would have found comfortable).
In terms of character development and pace, I can say that Alexandra's side felt better developed than Marshall's. That isn't to say that Marshall was a badly fleshed out character; it just means that maybe there was more that was ultimately understood from Alexandra's character and Marshall remained a bit... Unresolved.
As always, it was a pleasure to see the other Vipers interact with their "matrioshka"; because I'm *me* I also can't stray from mentioning that my favorite interactions between Alexandra and the members of the Vipers individually were the brief but significant moments she shared with Graham. And, because I'm still *me*, I have to make this unrelated comment (not a spoiler but under the tag nonetheless so you can choose to read if you want to)
Marshall is the lead singer for Project Viper, he likes things just as they are, but the band is in need of a bassist. Alexandra is a trained singer that is willing to be a bassist for the chance of being in the band. Both have stubborn and headstrong personalities and start off rocky. A sweet clean romance with some emotional scenes and humourous scenes. Will be reading the next book in the series.
I enjoy reading this, I love the drama. The little (NOT SO CALLED) love triangle among Marshall, Alexandra, and CJ is fun to read and it makes it even funnier once Zach joins in. I just don't like how Alexandra needs to feel sorry for not opening up about her past and how the Vipers are kinda pushy to her about it. (I also expected and lowkey wanted Alexandra to go solo and pursue her career as a soloist but it seems like she'll do well with the band since she got to showcase her passion as a singer and as a bassist at the same time.) PLUS when the group tanked after the news is sending me, no offense I love them and I like how realistic that is, no sugar coating that everyone accepted her fast wholeheartedly, the same thing to one of the O'Neal brothers.

A great young adult romance. The characters are well written with great depth and invoke emotion that has you right in the midst of it all. You cheer them along hoping they make the right decisions and get to where you know they need to be. Angsty and sweet at the same time. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
First time author for me to try and I LOVED this clean rock star story. Every character is perfectly flawed and I was able to pretty much read it in one day. I was totally invested in the band, in the drama, and wanted happily ever afters for everyone. I’m a Viper groupie now.
loved slow burn kind of enemies to lovers at the beginning but the ending felt just a little rushed. However I still loved all the side characters and how much this book had me giggling like a schoolgirl with a crush. I had to take breaks when reading because I felt too giddy and kept blushing. That’s how I know this was a good book for me.
Such a wonderful rockstar romance without any drinking, drugs or sex.
Project viper needs a new bassist so without them getting a choice management brings in Alexandra. Marshall is a grump and makes everything more difficult for her while also slowly growing feelings for her that he tries to hide.
Project viper all come from difficult pasts. You get to see how Marshall has to deal with his feelings and how his past shaped him. You also get to see all that Alexandra is going thru and how strong she is. I love how the band is a family and all care so much for each other.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The first thing I notice is the characters don’t get named right away. It takes a while to find out who”s perspective you are reading. We don’t get a lot of background as the characters are introduced. This book does jump points of view between Marshall and Alexandra. Occasionally to other members of the band as well.
Marshall is in a rock band with a few of his friends. He seems to be the lead singer and makes a decision, but they are a vocal bunch. The band is called Project Viper, and they need another member. Their record company makes them an interesting deal.
Alexandra seems to be a groupie, but she also seems to have an interesting persona to her. She is like a fangirl at the concert with her descriptions; eventually, we read that she plans to join the band as a backup vocalist and bass guitar player. The concert is intense. As she meets the band, we found out that she is Russian, barely an adult, and has no one to go back to. She seems to have some trauma relating to fire.
The band is fun to read as they jive and jostle with each other over the new bassist. Marshall is skeptical, and CJ is friendly. Alexandra struggles to fit in. This book has some nice rock song lyric references mixed into thoughts. I also love the inclusion of her native language with translations.
The romance in this book is slow. They go from enemies to unsure if they are friends to not sure they should be interested in one another. After all, she is the only girl in a band with mostly guys.
Things heat up between Alexandra and Marshall ( band lead singer ), and they get awkward too. Be prepared with tissues as this book goes on. You’ll need them as her story comes out. At the end of the book, I loved that we didn’t know everything about her, as it made it that much more emotional when we did. Marshall was a royal jerk, but I can understand it given his history and attitude of his character. I’m glad that they all cleared the air eventually. This book ends on a happy note and really tugs on the slow burn romance heartstrings.
I enjoyed this read. It was a slow burn, but it was filled with overcoming, especially your own insecurities. I liked watching the characters interact, have fun, and bond even with strife in the mix. I thought it was interesting that the female was younger than the males and not as skilled but still dropped into a rockstar lifestyle. I loved that author explained things eventually in a conversational way instead of a monologue. This book was emotional, about friends and family and having issues even as a famous star. I loved that the author embraced the idea that everyone had problems, not just the new girl. Yes, this is a rockstar romance, but they were all-stars by the end. If you love a peek into the life of a dreamy rockstar and all their own issues coming to the surface, you will love this read.
If you're looking for a clean, rockstar romance, I recommend unREASONable. This was an enjoyable read from the POV of two members in the same band. It's the first of the series and can be read as a standalone, but this sweet, slow-burn romance makes me want to read more from Arya Mathews. Can't wait for book two!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review
Track One: an emerging, badass rockqueen and her five flawless rockstars
I'm torn. That's the best way to describe how I feel about this book. I'm torn about how I feel, how to rate it, how to write this review...
Don't get me wrong, I really liked this book. I didn't want to stop reading. I LOVE a good rockstar romance, even more when it's a band of friends. So needless to say that I really loved Project Viper's bandmembers and their friendship laced with banter. Even though I mostly don't like chapter titles (a personal preference), I really liked that the chapter titles started with "track one/two...".
The characters were great; all had their own quirkiness and flaws, which I really liked. I loved CJ in particular, for being so welcoming, understanding, open, supporting... I could go on and on. Basically, I loved him for taking Alexandra under his wing, because let's be honest, she needed someone on her side. Even though Alexandra is really brave in deciding to upend her life and move to the US and play an instrument she doesn't know with her favorite band, she was also a very fragile girl struggling with her own demons (not going to say more as to not spoil it!). I really felt for her from the beginning.
So.... When Marshall was introduced to her and it seemed like we would get some enemies to lovers trope, I was very excited. And it was fun - until it wasn't. I remember thinking "Girl, how can you not have whiplash from his attitude? I certainly do!". And that kind of describes where it went "wrong" for me. There was too much going back and forth between hot and cold, even though the changing POV's explained a lot and made it easier to understand. I could conjure up some empathy, but I was still pretty annoyed at Marshall most of the time.
In the end, we got a bit of the enemies to lovers trope, but the whole book centers around miscommunication and insecure attachment doing its work against the background of a possible love triangle. To the point that when they finally had their big moment, I didn't even feel it anymore. I wasn't "awwww"-ing like I use to, I was not happy about the way it went. Alexandra was waaaaay too forgiving, and Marshall knows it. I would've liked him to explain himself a bit more than just saying "it's because I love you" - because that doesn't cut it for me. Alexandra deserved more.
However, even through all these frustrations, I really enjoyed reading this book, which is reflected in how fast I read it. So, I struggled a bit with the rating part. 3/5 didn't feel like it was enough, 4/5 felt a bit too much considering how I felt about Marshall and his behavior. So I settled on 3,5 stars (Goodreads needs to get with the program and introduce the half star ratings, already!).
**I received this book through BookSirens in exchange for an honest review, thank you!**
Thank you to the author and Book Sirens for this free copy in exchange for an honest review.
UnREASONable was a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars for me.
What drew me into reading this book was the fact that it was about a girl joining a popular band and that the love interest was a brooding guy with no interest in a relationship. Both of these aspects are things that I enjoy reading about in books.
There were several facets of this book that I really appreciated. One of those was the fact that it was written from both Alexandra’s and Marshall’s point of views. I love it when authors do this in romance novels because it shows what both characters are feeling, and it builds more anticipation for me as a reader to see when the characters’ feelings will be revealed to each other.
Another part of this book that I liked was Alexandra as the protagonist. Alexandra had such a great attitude considering the trauma from her recent past and the reactions that the band had to her joining. I would have loved to learn more about her and her past, so I was a bit disappointed that the author didn’t dive deeper into her as a character.
The other characters in this story were not bad by any means, but I felt that they lacked distinct personalities. Marshall was the only guy in the band that seemed to have stand out qualities. While I am a big fan of brooding guys in stories, I found Marshall to be a little too harsh at times. He treated Alexandra poorly throughout most of the book. CJ was sweet at times, but he seemed a bit too perfect.
The plot was interesting, but it was a bit unrealistic at times. The fact that Alexandra lacked experience as a bass player but was still chosen to fill in for the role as bassist seemed kind of weird. Also, Marshall’s hidden talent was a little too perfect in relation to Alexandra.
The ending of the story shocked me. It seemed a bit unrealistic, but I actually liked it. I thought the story had wrapped up, and then the author threw me for a loop. My jaw dropped open, and I reread the sentence to make sure that I had read it correctly.
Overall, this was a fun and quick read. I think this series has a lot of potential to be great, but the author needs to expand upon the characters’ backstories so that readers can connect with them more. I would recommend this book to teens that enjoy contemporary romances with the added element of music.
Content Warnings: trauma, mention of death by fire
Unreasonable by Arya Matthews is a “sweet” Rockstar romance. The storyline was unusual since it was about a musical savant Russian orphan whose deceased father was friends with the owner of a record label in the United States. When the band Project Viper needed a new bass player, Alexander, the Russian orphan didn’t know how to play the bass guitar but knew she could learn it well. The record label owner wanted to be able to watch over Alexander, so he brought her over to replace a bass guitarist in one of the company’s hottest new bands, Project Viper. The band had to accept the conditions of the record label choosing the new bass player without band auditions and they had to stick to that choice for 6 months. This book was a refreshing read. Alexander not only had to adjust to the loss of her parents but a new culture, learning a new musical instrument, as well as finding her place in the band. The band had to adjust, accept a new person who turned out to be a woman. Learning to bond with Alexander and allow her in their inner circle had many ups and downs. The ins and outs of living through the 6 months’ probation open attractions with just a hint of heat. The clashes of personalities, the hurt, the loneliness of more than one band member led to an awesome HEA. I highly recommend this book, even if it is a sweet romance that I typically do not read.
