I received and ARC for an honest review Review by Country Gals BOOK Blog
Maddie and Dane have been dating a while now but Danes need for revenge and constant ire at his ex is getting in the way. Maddie just wants to love past it all but Dane is making things worse. He's not the man she thought he was. Deciding it's time for a break, she meets Ricki and instantly builds a friendship. As Dane becomes increasingly more stalker like, Ricki becomes her knight in shinning armor.
I was expecting this story to be Dane and Maddie forever after. I was surprised the author took it in another direction. Once again, the author pulls us in from the first page with an unexpected twist. There is no insta romance in this story either and once again, friendships are built and moving forward commences. Maddie is a strong and independent character that thrives in this story making a life of her own as in instructor and uses her skills to go to the comps with a team instead of a partner. She doesn't let a man hold her back. Dane becomes increasingly more crazy which I wasn't expecting. I had felt bad for him in the first story however in this one he begins to change to someone completely different. Ricki is the newest character and I think you'll love him. He's reserved yet protective which makes him desirable. And of course we can't forget the protective best friend that we all love. The author has done a great job with this story and the characters in it. It's not your typical romance.
Maddi is ready for something new, different, and less restrictive. She is a dancer by trade and a beautiful spirit at her core. She is also humble and selfless which adds to her attributes but also clouds her direct route happiness. Dane, her dance partner, is a complete one-eighty from her and he soon discovers his ways may not be what Maddi desires. When Ricki attends Maddi's dance lesson the plot thickens. Maddi is left with big heart aches, heart throbs, and life decisions which force her to make some tough choices in order to ultimately find her own happiness.
Stacey Broadbent tells the story of a young lady who comes to a fork in the road. Broadbent develops Maddi by forcing her hand to make a decision and follow her own new path. This dynamically elevates Maddi and begins her journey through making the choices which at the root create a more confident, self-reliant, and personally satisfied Maddi compared to the girl introduced in the first chapter. Broadbent develops Maddi through showing how she lifts from the fog she was under to examine how she is strong enough to make personal choices to foster her own self-worth and happiness. It is truly a beautiful story about personal growth and making your own happiness through your own strong choices. This will not be the end of my exploration of reading Broadbent's work and I look forward to the next novella in the Dancing novella series.
Dancing in circles is a fantastic short read and I loved the book. This book is about dancing, competition, building friendship, love, lies, betrayal and a twist I sure wasn't expecting. I love Maddie and Ricki. This book will have you turning the pages from the beginning to the end and not wanting to put the book down. Stacey has done a great job with this story and all the characters in it. I recommend reading this book because you won't be disappointed. ~~~Belinda for Book Haven Book Blog~~~
Dancing in Circles, the second Novella in the series is a superb follow-up. We're back with Maddi and Dane, but Dane's desire to beat out his ex is overruling his relationship with Maddi. There's a new dancer, Ricki, in class and Maddi has his eye on him. He's not overly confident in his skills and he's a bit shy, but he's still caught Maddi's eye. As her best friend Rory points out, you wouldn't be looking if things were great for you and Dane. While I had high hopes for Maddi and Dane, his true colors come flying out in this book, and I'm glad to see Maddi gain some independence, in not just herself, but her dancing. Dancing in Circles was so much fun to read, and I'm anxious to start Dancing With Destiny, the final book in this series.
This is book 2 of the series but the very first book this author wrote. I could be read as a stand-alone but to get the full feeling of emotions and motives of the characters I will you should start a book one first. As this book followings on from book one about 10 months later. We learn all about love and betrayals on the dancefloor again as Maddi and Dane work towards this year's competition. But will Dan's passion to bet his ex-push Maddi to far and into the arm of another? I am enjoying this series and with one more to go, I look forward to seeing where the author will take her wonderful character. We got to see a bit more about Maddi's best friend Rory in this book which I loved.
This is the first book I wrote :) I had always wanted to write one, but could never figure out how to get from start to finish (patience is a virtue...) until now. I danced Salsa for around ten years, and this book is based loosely on things that happened from those times. Of course, as an author, I have embellished somewhat. I really enjoyed writing this book, and creating a series out of it. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did, writing it.
