The Shadows of Wildberry Lane #1

Perfection of Suffering

Rate this book
The Southern Aristocracy brought together by one woman - Dahlia Aldridge.

I had lived here most of my life in a blissful state of ignorance, surrounded by a loving family and the other residents of Wildberry Lane. Specifically, their sons - the heirs to some of the largest fortunes in the country. I had grown used to them acting as my shadows, protecting me and surrounding me with enough affection that I never questioned if their words were in fact the truth.
Then the Brooks twins came to town. Suddenly, everything I had known about myself was being shattered as they dug up my worst insecurities and exploited them to the world. I began questioning everything.
Kingston Ross. Stratton Lee. Yates Carter. Lincoln & Sterling Gates.
They have been able to protect me from everything… but myself. My boys carry a darkness inside of them that has never scared me. The shadows of deeds done at night, away from the spotlight of being who we were in this societal hierarchy. They think I’m afraid of that, but they couldn’t be farther from the truth.
I wasn’t afraid of their darkness.
I wasn’t afraid of my feelings for them, ones that had grown from friendship into so much more.
I wasn’t even afraid of expressing that to them… eventually.
What I was afraid of? That I would hurt those around me with my shame and pain.
I would just have to perfect the art of suffering in silence.

Wildberry Lane - Home to the extremely wealthy and powerful Southern elite.

Perfection of Suffering, book 1 in The Shadows of Wildberry Lane trilogy, is M. Sinclair’s debut contemporary reverse harem novel. This work features a naive female character hiding a dark secret of her own, the men in her life that will do anything to keep her safe, and a scandal that stretches far beyond the safety of Wildberry Lane’s gate.

Warning: This book does contain sexual content for +18, swearing, violence, and triggers when it comes to specifically, but not limited to, eating disorders and bullying. Important to note, the bullying is NOT done by the harem, but rather outside sources. This is a slow/medium burn series.

This book sucked!

I will now attempt to write a review the way this book was written.

This book is about a little rich community, a community of billionaires and their children. They all live together in this tiny cul-de-sac. They have known each other for years and since you know this is a RH, there is only one girl living in this cul-de-sac. I always marvel at cul de sacs , the name just rolls of the tongue, is it a French word, I don't know. Maybe I will check the origin and see how it came to be.

Ah yes, our heroine was adopted when she was two by her filthy rich parents and the boys are her friends. Boys, ehn, a complicated yet simple sort. No two are the same, it reminds me of high school and all the boys I saw. I wonder how they are doing now, all those boys. I guess they aren't boys anymore. I wonder how those men are doing now.

Ooops, our heroine. So yes all the boys are interested in her but she doesn't know it, this makes her have episodes of thought and thoughts of if they like her or not. Is she seeing things that aren't there. Is one of them looking at her with lust in his eyes, anger, want, shame, laughter? How can she know. Eyes eh, they are the window to the soul. Eyes are always amazing to look at, so many emotions hiding in those beautiful colored orbs.

Our heroine thinks the boys are hiding things from her. Rich children always get away with any things. They are the heirs to billion dollar companies so they can kill people and get away with it especially when they are so hot. Hot, that's a word. Hot. It has lots of meaning and can evoke different emotions, it can be the weather, a fever, food, water, a person. A person can be hot. Did I mention the boys are hot, they are so hot. Why are they so hot. How can they be so hot. How does someone become so hot. They know they are so hot too which makes them even hotter. All of her boys are hot. Well and another creepy guy, he's attractive in a smarmy kind of way but her guys are hotter. This person tries to rape her but her boys are there and they pummel him. They get blood all over that it's dripping off them. That is so hot, seeing all that blood, seeing that they fought for her. She should be disgusted but how can she, when she sees all that blood dripping from their hair and clothes. She wonders if they killed the person, she's shocked by that thought, she has to save her hot boys, she's seen lots of detective shows so they have to get rid of the clothes. Ah, all is saved, they didn't kill him. They broke his nose and somehow the entire blood in his body got poured on them and that's why they are dripping in blood like they just got out of the pool.At least they look hot.

The heroine is sheltered so she does nothing but stay home and hang out with the boys. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE. Her life revolves around the boys and she can't go a day without seeing them. One of her boys just came back from Uni, she's missed him so much. She wonders what she will do with her life now that they are done with high school, will she go to Uni or will she stay in her little cul-de-sac Her little happiness is threatened because someone is bullying her, taunting her and making her not only anorexic but depressed. Why is this person doing this. Should she tell her boys, what if they think it's nothing, what if they ruin the person she suspects. No, she won't tell her boys. She's going to turn off her phone and pretend it doesn't exist. Phones, a technological marvel. I still remember when I was excited to get my first nokia, good times. It's just so easy to do everything, call, text, play games. A marvel, I tell you.

This book sucked. Nothing happens except the heroine being with the boys all the time. They were all boring with their silly alpha-male poses that was childish. The heroine was awful especially since we only had her POV so we had to listen to her inane ideas and monologues. There is no plot, there is no angst. I am not reading the next book.

A great start to the The Shadows of Wildberry Lane series I have been an avid reader of M. Sinclair's work and was excited for a contemporary RH book. Dahlia and her guys were amazing, they all demonstrated phenomenal chemistry towards each other. This book was also a very special read because of the attention it brought forth on the issue of mental health. It's refreshing to see a FMC that faces adversity.
Looking forward to following through The Shadows of Wildberry Lane series .

I understand that they believe she is the best thing since sliced bread, but these men need more hobbies. Love is cute, obsession is also okay in certain circumstances, but everyone just feels clingy. I don't think I'm in the current mood for the sickly sweetness of this book, so take everything I say with a pinch of salt 🧂.

Example (Insta-love is alive and well) :

‘If I found myself in hell for all of eternity, I would be perfectly content. I'd already experienced heaven, and it was in the form of a radiant, green-eyed woman that had managed to fuck up my entire universe in a span of seconds.’

If there was a build-up or if this character had known her for more than 2 seconds, I would have thought this line was sweet. However, he had just met her and they had spoken 5 words to each other before this statement. Let's tone it down because I think this is way too extra. I would have accepted the line ‘I think she's fit’ in replacement of this mini monologue. That would have made more sense based on the timeline of knowing her.

Dermot needs to pump the brakes ✋

Not including Dermot, this harem is pre-established, so I accepted their obsessive behaviour, as they all had a history. My favourite was Stratton because the man actually gave her space. Yes, he only gave her space, because he was doing underground fighting, but at least he chilled out to a degree.

In total, I believe the harem consists of 6 guys. I dnf at 33% and they weren't hareming at that point, so this may change. I read someone else review that said 6 men is way too much, which I slightly disagree with. That is a man for every day of the week and then she probably gets Sunday to herself. Win-win. Also, one could be murdered, disappear or leave her, so at least she has other options in that case 🤷🏻‍♀️

———————

I really struggled to relate to FMC 😒 Not because of her wealth, but because of the constant descriptions of her wealth. She talks about it ad nauseam. She lived on a ‘One million door estate’ in a Cul De Sac, with guards. She is extremely descriptive about their interiors and houses (I know the author was trying to build a better picture, but it came across as so braggy and out of touch).

She also says stuff like ‘frankly I wasn't a huge fan of hiring estate staff. The concept alone made me feel weird. Besides a landscaper, biweekly house cleaner, and pool worker, we didn't have anyone work on our property unless we were holding an event.’

She is not saying this ironically. It’s also frequently stated that she is ‘humble’….Okay.

This book does touch on the subject of
eating disorders and bullying, and seems to handle it well. Even though she doesn't ask for support, she is heavily supported. Some of the characters do say the wrong thing sometimes, but I think this is intentional to show the effect their words can have.

Overall, I couldn't connect with the heroine. I've read tons of books with rich Fmc’s before, but they weren't this naive and owned the fact that they were spoiled. She just comes across as a Princess.
I also don't think I liked having pre-existed harems. All the characters were just constantly longing for each other, but no one did sh1t about it. Again, I don't think I'm in the mood for this read 😂

I love M Sinclair for her PNR and I was hesitant for the switch to contemporary but I was NOT disappointed at all. This is a great start to what will hopefully be an amazing series.

This book will hit you in the feels for the fmc. Pretty much everyone has dealt with bullying at some point and with technology what it is today it's worse. Online bullying is a huge issue and we see that in this book. We see how Dahlia tries to handle the bullying herself. We see how it effects every aspect of her life. From relationships to her self worth. Bullying can have a major impact on a person and this book shows the very real possibilities that can happen.

One of my favorite part of M Sinclair books is the obsessively possessive love the guys have for the girl. This book definitely fits the bill with that! We see the lengths they will go to protect the girl they love. Some people have lines they wont cross and this book shows that sometimes love pushes you over that line.

I dont normally like "mean girls" to be a huge focus in my books but this was very well written and I found myself feeling what Dahlia was feeling instead of annoyed by it. The rollercoaster of emotions left me with a want for revenge against the people who would do this to her. I'm excited to see how her guys handle everything in the next book.

I would rate this book as a 4.5 so I rounded up to 5.

I gave this way more rope than the juvenile writing deserved simply because it seemed to be the elusive unicorn of RH - a innocent virgin h and jealous/possessive heros.

But sigh… there’s too many men to keep track of (SIX!), and many of the “facts” and plot points are either super shallow or not well thought out or aren’t consistent.

It had a lot of potential with loads of cliche tropes that I really like, but the farther into the book, the less I liked how those tropes were being handled.

Maybe if we’d been present from their developing feelings this would have been better? I don’t really understand how she had 5 boyfriends her whole life but didn’t realize it. I also don’t understand how with 5 boyfriends, she’s only been kissed 3 times. Not a single one of the guys ever once tried to make out with her?? 👀😐💀💀 Hell, she never tried to kiss any of them? Never? She sleeps with them and cuddles with them… this makes no sense.

Her bully-prompted eating disorder had the potential for adding some intrigue and angst… but it oddly came and went… one minute she was super self conscious and the next minute she was prancing around in her bikini or some skimpy outfit. It was very shallow and felt more like a cheap knock-off accessory she wore, rather than a real thing she was dealing with.

Anyway… I eventually found too many annoyances overcame my willingness to overlook the cringy writing. It’s too bad because I liked the premise and I was willing to give it a chance.

Bottom Line? I had hopes but in the end this didn’t quite hit. ⭐️⭐️1/2 - I shall continue my search for an RH with an innocent h and (not too many) j/p Heros

I really liked this contemporary from M Sinclair. Some of the story elements that she does so well in her paranormal/fantasy books - naive/troubled FMC with possessive and alpha heroes - are still there and I felt very connected to these characters and this story because of how well-drawn each one was. The connection between the main characters also shines here. There is protectiveness on both sides - them wanting to keep her safe and shield her from the darker parts of their life and her wanting to protect them from the struggles that she's having. There's also nice relationship development that occurs as the story goes on, with some steam thrown in, but still a slower burn.

There are also supportive and loving families in Perfection of Suffering, which is awesome to read. I would also love if there was a female friend for the FMC in the upcoming books, especially with how she struggles with the outside bullying and her thoughts around her eating and self-esteem. I appreciated how these struggles were handled and portrayed and I think the author did a great job.

This first book doesn't end on a cliffhanger, just a moment where things are still unresolved but the group is working on information so a lead-in to book 2, which I will definitely be checking out.

I could not put this book down. M. Sinclair has the ability to draw you so completely into a story that you lose all sense of time and place. Dahlia is a young woman who on the surface has the perfect life. Underneath the surface gloss is a broken girl, fighting self esteem issues and eating/panic disorders due to bullying. Ms. Sinclair treats these issues with the gravity and respect needed to properly portray these common struggles. Due to the issues she faces, she struggles to trust her relationships with the young men in her life; men who orbit her like planets to the sun. I can’t wait to see how their relationships and storyline progress in book 2.

I love love love this series so much and it's only the start. I got suck in from the first page itself, the first occurrence of the characters and their steadfast relationship with eachother.

Author Sinclair has always been my unicorn author for PNR, RH genres but this series is getting the top space on my shelf.
The Romance between the characters is swoonworthy...there was more to love between them...trust, loyalty.
The characters are crafted so beautifully that I could feel their pain and fear through the pages...its unlike anything I have ever read in the bully sense.
Dahlia and her men( oh yes! It's RH...)...gahhh!! I am addicted to them...the way they supported her, loved her despite her imperfections, breakdown her walls when she was retreating into herself...
I can say that everyone has faced bullying atleast one phase of their life..and it really sucks. The author has touch some serious topics with grace and attention to every details with brutal honesty...its a proof that it's not sugar coated but a slap to reality.

No matter how many times I say...I will be ready for the cliffhanger, I just can't...I willingly jump to a long suffering pain...
NEED..BOOK 2...NOW!!!😭😭..

On top of that, it's her debut in the contemporary world...I just want to say...Best Decision Ever.

It's a smack on 5 star!!! No rounding off...
Full on 5 STARS...more if I could give them!!!❤

4.5 stars rounded up

** i received an arc in exchange for an honest review **

gosh.. where to start? first of all, M knocked her contemporary debut out of the park. while you can’t deny that she does PNR amazingly well, she’s mostly know for her psycho MMCs and this book definitely did not disappoint.

my favorite part of this book was probably the character relationships. from how supportive the parents of each character was, to the relationships between the Hs, ugh i loved it.

it’s no secret that i’m not a fan of the evil/ cruel family trope. it’s extremely overdone, so i’m seriously so happy that dahlias family is so supportive and caring. i also love how even though they’re rich, all the parents are connected and aware of their privilege.

of course, i’m not a fan of the mean girl trope either, but this was done in a more realistic way so it was tolerable. there are mean girls in real life, and social media has been weaponized a lot lately, so i could appreciate the message the author was portraying.

i honestly could not pick a favorite out of the guys, and overall i can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. this was a great intro to her contemporary world, well done M!

This book is nothing short of a masterpiece. Dahlia is a sweet and loving 18 year old girl who encounters some very real issues that make her one of the most down to earth characters I think that I have ever read. The way that M. Sinclair handled sensitive topics such as cyber bullying, anxiety, and eating disorders; is done in such a way that it illuminates the severity of seriousness of these issues that can plague so many of us. Her boys are every young (or not young!) woman’s dreams! This story is just gearing up and will leave you frothing at the mouth for more. If Dahlia doesn’t take up permanent residence in your heart after reading this, you’re dead inside! M. Sinclair remains Queen of All Things, long may she reign!

I didn't like it.

I loved that the heroine grew up being bffs with the h but that's the only thing I liked.

-I really don't like multiple povs
- i disliked that every character in this book had such a loooong inner monologue that I even forgot they were in the middle of a conversation and had to go back a few (several) pages to see what they were talking about. I basically skipped all those boring monologues
- I also felt a little annoyed that the guys already knew about the bullying and were surprised when it "happened again" and also annoyed with her. Hadn't she already deleted all her social media? Does she not have enough money to buy a new phone number?? Whyy was she still getting notificstions on ig if she deleted that? That felt annoying and stupid

Mental Health Issues!

There are so many reasons why I'm a M. Sinclair fan, but she took the cake and added a big, fat, red, cherry on top by earning my respect! Mental health is a serious illness that people feel so ashamed of it that they rather stuffer with it in silences without any help until they hurt themselves or others! I'm so happy that this author took the time to write a storyline with this issue using a very popular genre that maybe she could help someone that they don't feel so along with their mental state or illness and can seek help! Bravo M. Sinclair, BRAVO!

I guess my only complaint with this book that stop it from being a five star review, is the author was a bit to wordy.. There was just some unnecessary context that could have been struck out at editing! I don't feel this book need to be this long for characters development or for the plot or to get the point across for the heroine or her heroes. It caused me to become bored at some points.

However, I loved how Dahlia's boys were so into her and how they adore her.. Man I wish! 😍... Yeah, yeah they could be a little creepy and stalk-ish but it was sweet! 👀 .. Well can't wait to jump into book two! Bye!

Overall Rating:
4* ~ A Good Read

A fantastic and emotional story

Wow this book blows my mind, no matter how many times I read it. There are triggers so please be aware. This story has so many emotions that I got sucked into the story. I love the multiple pov's.

Dahlia is such a fantastic character, I really feel for her, and as you get to know her more you can see where she grows but also see how hard she struggles. I see a bit of myself in Dahlia and it draws me closer to her.

M Sinclair has made me feel so much in this book, and I thank her. Looking forward to what will happen in the next book.

It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t five star good.

🌶️ = 0.1 (only scene at 73%)
⭐️ = 3

The plot was really just going in circles, what was the point in making the book as long as it was? I got to like 80% and felt like there was hardly anything learned other than the fact that they all care for each other but she’s in denial even though they treat her like their princess lol, the anonymous harasser, and that they live on a cul de sac. I felt like it was a huge information dump of information that wasn’t really valuable throughout the entire book. I feel like it’s just a book full of secrets and most we aren’t in on. Currently reading #2 because I’m not a quitter 🫣

M. Sinclair is a wizard with words, alpha psychos and cavity sweet love and I'm left wanting more!

Looved It!

I will say the book started great, slowed a Smidge and went full speed ahead and I did NOT want it to stop. I felt like we had only just gotten to the goods, Dahlia and the guys were just getting everything "understood" between them and dark juicey things were just starting!

That said I LOVED the guys ABSOLUTELY loved them but I felt like we were just starting to connect to them, finding out what they were like as individuals and as a group - just the guys or including Dahlia. Heck poor girl was just figuring out those things herself.
In regards to Dahlia yes sometimes I wanted to shake her but thats mainly because I'm not one who can keep my mouth shut. ( no seriously I get impatient or nervous and i just blurt things or go Stone mute.. which is equally bad )

But Dahlia never really irritated me because I understood that each person takes things IN differently, handles things differently as well. I thought the way she acted was spot on for a person who was going through what she was.
After a while that WOULD start to tear at a person. Shake them.
In fact I actually LIKED that she needed the guys, leaned on them.
Plus I really, really loved to see how the guys reacted to her being so fragile.

( I gushed with the love guys so hard, swooned really )

Dahlia gave me that. She was real.
It was great to see that just because she had great parents, nice fabulous things, lived in a gated fabulous, security everywhere house and money money money she could still have problems and did. She could still be naive. Although that had a large part to do with said money and security and gated place to live and a even LARGER part was because of the guys making sure she said that way.

I will say I wished she had opened up more a long time before she did...

But again I got it. With things happening and swirling around her, things slowly ate at her. Made her doubt, made her think she was a burden and as a person who suffers from anxiety and depression myself I completely understood that.

When your self worth, your confidence, your self-esteem already has a chip in it's armour and then something starts to slowly chip away at it like acid, you block and/or guard everything and yourself.

( like.. your made to think what you already might be unconsciously thinking or feeling, however small it is, is right in those thoughts or feelings )

So I understood her just trying to pretend everything was fine, it would just go away on its own or she'd deal with it later. It's a coping mechanism. Doesn't mean it's wrong. It just is.

Now just to say I like strong FMC most of the time but there are very different strengths and real people are different as well and I kinda like my FMC to reflect that and dang it sometimes I'm over strong I'm a warrior females and I just need to read about soft, my strength is from the inside, it's ok to cry FMC.

As for the guys it's hard to say who I liked the most.
King started one way and then BOOM he went a different way.
Yates,Linc or Sterling never really changed much... Much. wink wink
Stratton was also not as in the picture until more toward the middle end but he was the dark horse and we at the end found out why.
Kingstons Cousin Dermot was a "calming straight shooter" in Dahlia's time of need.

So their characters are forming and you can kinda see who will be who/what in the group relationship of obsessed Psychos.

I must say I liked them all but leading in Favorites King, Yates, Linc and Dermot, with Stratton and Sterling not far behind.

I can NOT wait for the next book to continue on with this crazy fabulous story.

This series reads like a 15-year old wrote her own fantasy novel. It's about 80% exposition and description versus 20% dialogue. You know the old saying, "show, don't tell?" Nobody told M. Sinclair that. This series is chock full of telling.

These five guys and one girl have lived in the same cul-de-sac all their lives. She's starting to realize she may like them as more than friends, they of course have been in love with her since they were little. The guys have already discussed their situation and agreed they will all marry her and live together in a house in the same little cul-de-sac. Then one of the guys brings home his cousin and he of course falls instantly in love with her as well, and they easily slide him into their reverse harem.

Some of the situations are so silly as to be unbelievable. For example, Also, five of the guys are virgins (they're saving themselves for her, natch) and they are magically amazing in bed right out of the gate, giving her multiple orgasms every time. And the idea that six guys would be willing and ready to settle down with one woman at 18 defies belief.

Basically, here's the series, in summary:

The characters are one-dimensional and I didn't care about them in the least. The parents are mostly absent, until needed to explain something. There were several instances of misused words. The girl kept saying "am I crazy for wanting all six of these guys?" over and over again in different ways. It was repetitive and annoying. This is just a poorly written story that went nowhere and did nothing.

I’m really enjoying this author! This is only the second book I’ve read by her, but I’m really loving her writing style. It’s very captivating and she has really strong male characters, along with the FMC.

This book was a strong read for me, if at times a little slow. I think there were points that could’ve had a tad bit less internal monologue because they definitely got their points across, but otherwise the writing was strong. Like I mentioned, I really enjoyed the way she wrote the guys, and I have heard on FB groups that she writes obsessive psychos and i love it already lol. It’s so hard to pick a favorite guy! Though i do have my fingers crossed that since they’re all in love with her and have been (minus Dermot) that this means there hasn’t been any other women, i feel like we never see this happen!

Dahlia’s been through bullying at the hands of a truly mean person, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I am excited to see them taken down, and for her guys to really step it up in protecting her. I also want her to grow into her skin more, and when she has more growth i know she’s gonna be even better as a character. Can’t wait to see how their relationships grow as well!

Invariably, I love M.Sinclair’s work. I love the obsessive stalker-ish boyfriends, I love the female main characters, and the improbable worlds. All of it.

HOWEVER. This is not my favorite of Sinclair’s work. It felt like it lacked depth. There was a TON of writing devoted to the settings and to introspection that didn’t matter much. Because of the lack of action/dialogue, I felt like I didn’t know the boys so well.

Additionally, one of the things I love about Sinclair is that her MCs find strength in their men—Dahlia was not like that. She kept secrets and constantly doubted herself, and I did not enjoy that vibe. ESPECIALLY because her secret-keeping only made the problem bigger! Her extreme lack of confidence was not fun to read about at all, and kind of departed from many of Sinclair’s MCs. The naïveté worked for Maya in the Reborn series, as she was forcibly sheltered for most of her life. It didn’t work for Dahlia, as she was well part of the world. She has grown up in this world all her life—how could she (Dahlia) possibly be so naive?

I WILL be reading book 2–I love Sinclair, and will give the benefit of the doubt. Here’s to hoping there will be more depth in book 2.

If it's one thing you can 100% count on with Ms. Sinclair's male characters, they will be dark, obsessed and so very likable. Perfection of Suffering definitely was not lacking on that end. Relative to the heroines from her other series I've read, I think Dahlia's character really conveyed what she was enduring really well; especially on am emotional level. Her anxiety-driven ruminations and strive to 'perfect her suffering' was difficult to read, especially when one can imagine this can be relatable to people, albeit not exactly. Overall, I really liked her character and I hope moving on, she can overcome what she's enduring and come out swinging.

The little world this all takes place in was over the top, but it didn't diminish the story. Some of the things that happened to Dahlia, in such a short span of time was also next level, but it showcased her mens' devotion to her, so all in all, it worked. As far as this being her contemporary debut, I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading book 2. I hope we get to see more of the relationship aspect moving forward.

Definitely would recommend giving this story a try!

I’ve seen Sinclair write paranormal, but she can definitely write contemporary as well! I absolutely loved this book and everything in it. This book deals with so many real issues that I found hit close to home and it destroyed me so please read the trigger warnings.
Dahlia was a realistic character who was extremely relatable for me. Not the whole rich, aristocratic aspect, but her suffering from mental and eating disorders. Her guys were dark, protective, and ultimately obsessive when it came to her, her health, and her happiness. I loved how supportive her parents are of her and the closeness she shares with her mother. I also really found myself loving Yate’s mom as well and have a soft spot for her.
The setting and descriptions were vivid and the characters were developed, realistic, and were perfectly imperfect. I’m not a huge fan of the friends to lovers trope, but this one was written well and kept me wanting to see the boundary of friends crossed. I need the next book like crazy and I’m so glad the Sinclair decided to branch out into contemporary romance!

M. Sinclair is the master of best friends to lovers. I will literally read anything written by this author. I never even realized I liked the beat friends to lovers trope until I discovered M. Sinclair

I loved everything about this book. Dahlia and her guys were great characters. Dahlia is super sweet and kind and her guys are crazy protective over her.

Dahlia does face some serious bullying to the point it has affected her life greatly.

Shadows are everywhere but do we really what lurks in the shadows.
Sinclair’s latest book is brilliant and tears down those shadows . It takes us deep into the Southern rich elite and opens up the exclusive community that has more secrets then anyone could bury in a life time .
It’s a ticking time bomb and at the centre of the story is the current generation spearhead by Dahlia.

She keeps them together. Drawn by the love they have for her. But Dahlia is oblivious that her men will do anything and her secret what shapes this novel. It’s part of this dark and devious twisted plot that engages you.
Everyone has their part and whilst the book revolve around Dahlia and her secret. There plenty of the guys who will become some of your new favourites
Sinclair’s writing is what makes this book stand out
Her used of prose and rotating POV allows readers to dive deep and fall for these guys. These elite Southerns aren’t you pompous rich guys. These guys are ready to do the hard work.

Before you start this please be aware it does have triggers. M Sinclair is one of my favourite authors and the perfection of suffering is no different. In fact this book embodies everything I love about her books. A strong MC and Possesive AF Harem members. I love that the MC Dahlia isn't strong in the normal sense she's not bad ass. She suffers from anxiety, depression and has eating disorder. She's Strong and she wears that inner strength like alot of M. Sinclair's more badass characters. The novel is absolutley amazing the relationship between the characters unique and absolutley epic!! Congrats M. Sinclair on your first contemporary release it is epic... Also READ NOW!!

Good read

Sinclair is one of my favorite authors but I had a hard time with this book at the beginning. It has a great concept and amazing psychotic characters and that's the only reason I kept reading. It was torturously slow and boring until a little more than halfway through. The mc takes naive to such a whole new level that it's not believable then all of the sudden she is almost a new person. A lot of it was repetitive as far as they love, they love me not etc. Then closer to the end it becomes one of the amazing books that I am used to from this author. So I believe the next book will be phenomenal and can't wait to read it.

I feel like I have no words for this book. The series has been lined up to be amazing but this book was very long forgot a lot. Also I cannot figure out how old the characters are meant to be as as they are supposedly just out of high school buying houses and working in a law firm so consistency feels off
