Frustrating
This book was frustrating and I found it going in a totally different direction then I thought it would. Basically the entire book is one battle stretched out. Some of the machines and tools make no sense to me. Planes that transform to walking tanks? And the bad guys somehow sneak attack earth at the beginning even though they where detected. Honestly, the military in this book seems almost slapdash with no real central planning or coordination.
Go ahead and read the book. Especially if your waiting for a release of a favorite series.

Almost
If you like to read about a mc that never gets a clue this is your book. Also the author seems to think that a Sargent regularly calls his troops maggots and its ok. Only place that happens is in boot camp not once you reach the fleet and if an officer does it... breaks the immersion. Final thoughts. Don't really recommend the book too many inconsistencies

Very clearly influenced by Ringo's Troy Rising trilogy.
However, Megastructure lacks Troy's technical, scientific, and military details. In fact, there seems to be some hand waving where the science is concerned and Frater played fast and loose with the military bits. Chain of command, weapons usage, strategies and tactics. Frater's lack of military experience shows in the narrative and plot. He very clearly inserted himself into the story as the main character.
But. It was a fun read, again, very reminiscent of Troy Rising (minus the technical details and some accuracy).
My biggest gripe was honestly the number of errors, not just typos, missing words, and extra words (repeated words, for example), but editorial notes left in the text, missing quotation marks, and so on. The editing and proofreading were sloppy for this one.

Fast passed, great action, characters well developed, with a bits of real humor.
From the beginning the story line flowed smoothly and was very easy to stay engrossed with a great deal of action and surprising moments of people evening just folks living in a strange new environment.
Really a great afternoon reading adventure.

Great book
Fascinating story told from the alien and human viewpoint. An alien ship has fallen from the sky. Of course a war breaks out over who controls it. Great new tech is discovered and built upon. The ship is restored using human and alien technology. What we don't know until they arrive is the ship wad followed and they want it back.

A dam good read
A dam good read which the more read the more I wanted to read. I recommend that you give it a try I did and have found a new author to follow and a new set of books to follow. Again read and enjoy

Awesome Space Opera
If you like continuous fast paced action and adventure you are going to love this sci-fi tale. The author has done a great job of weaving a tale with great characters. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.

Great series starter
It kind of like watching anime of my childhood like Macross series since there's transforming attack jet that can change into robotic walker. Definitely a good series to read, onward to the next book!
