An excellent biography about a woman of whom I knew nothing yet was so influential in Irish theatre, while remaining a fond wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many - including WB Yeats and George Bernard Shaw. The background (often at Coole) of Irish life and politics through her life (1852-1932) is fascinating and brings the era alive.
