Mobocracy means mob rule, the opposite of democracyThe series is set in the near future...Anarchy and mob rule are prevalent with law and order breaking down in the United States. Even Washington D.C. is under siege from lawless groups of rioters.
In Florida, Matt Deal has now been appointed the chief of detectives reporting to newly elected Sheriff Fretwell, his old friend.
A British stranger starts making inquiries about Deal. Who is he? Is he an additional threat to Deal and his family?
Meanwhile Special Agent Steele recruits a disgraced cop to infiltrate the outlaw biker gang hired to kill Deal.
Stephen Bentley is an award-winning author. Of his Operation Julie true crime book, screenwriter and novelist, writer of 'Julie' BBC Drama, Rob Gittins, said, "The fascinating and extraordinary inside story from the man who was actually there.”
Of his later fiction works, British crime author, Pat MacDonald said, “I knew when I read the author’s first book although non-fiction that he could make the transition to writing fiction; I was right. He has an ease of language that lends itself to storytelling; he tells it as if he was there in the plot and why shouldn’t he having been an undercover cop in the real world? Not that Steve Regan is meant to be him, but having the experience means he can do whatever he wants with his fictional characters, and they will always be believable.”
Like some other authors, his life experience is broad and unconventional. He spent 30 years in the legal system, first as a detective for 15 years then as barrister plying his trade as “a wig for hire” in London and the English provinces. He was a pioneering undercover cop on Operation Julie and as a barrister defended in trials involving murder, rape, drug importation, other serious crimes and defended soldiers at courts-martial.
He worked in a warehouse. Rode a big motorbike as a London courier. He drove big articulated trucks and taught how to drive them. He also worked as a hospital porter twice. He drove chilled delivery vans in London in the 1990s to fund his law degree and bar school studies. He spent the last two years of his working life driving plant and operating heavy filtration machinery for Europe’s largest water company. His work mates soon recognised his advocacy skills and elected him as their shop steward.
He has now written over twenty books. Two of them have been optioned and in development; one as a TV drama series, and one as a drama doc.

Matt Deal returns in what we're told is the last book in this particular series by Stephen Bentley. Fast paced and action packed, with old familiar faces returning to join Deal in this latest escapade. A biker gang, and members of the white supremacist Aryan Nation go up against Deal and his friends and colleagues. There's barely time to draw breath as the action takes centre stage and despite there being a price on his head, Matt Deal is determined that justice will prevail. When one of the bikers changes sides, Deal has an ally with the inside track on the leader's thinking. I won't add any spoilers here, but you're sure to enjoy this final part of the trilogy as I did, which the author wraps up neatly with a very satisfying ending. I will miss the cast of characters created by Mr Bentley for this intriguing series and will look forward to seeing what he comes up with next. 5 stars without hesitation from this reader.
Well here it is, the final part of the Matt Deal trilogy..It races along cleverly integrating some new characters. One thing that surprised me, from the title I expected our hero to be taking on " organised crime", but it turned out to biker gangs. It's shorter than the previous two books, but draws everything to satisfactory conclusion.
Compulsive and gripping! Suspenseful, addictive and complex! A very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters. The suspense builds at just the right pace as the story unfolds. Will keep you swiping the pages furiously. Worthy of your TBR list.
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book from in order to read and provide a voluntary and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Stephen Bentley outdid himself on this the final book in the Matt Deal trilogy. This book finds Matt Deal living in Florida. There is a renegade biker gang and members of the Aryan Nation after him. They want him dead so that they won't be held accountable to what was done to his daughter Mercy. This book is fast paced and intriguing. It gives closure to what happens to Matt, his wife and New daughter and to Elaine Steele and her husband. The whole trilogy is a great read. I received an ARC copy and have ordered the ebook and the paperback copy.
After the harrowing situation in Mexico Matt & Anna have settled into a life they've come to enjoy with Matt becoming the Chief of Detectives in Walton County & raising their daughter together. Matt still has a price on his head by the father of one of his daughter's rapists and now enters the son of a gangster he killed in the UK. He is definitely set on avenging his father's death at the hands of Matt Deal. Luckily Matt & Anna are still close with Pat & Jamie, on whom they can rely when their lives are upended once again.
Stephen Bentley wraps this trilogy up nicely with all of the well developed characters we've met throughout this storyline. Can't wait to see what's next from this author.
Matt Deal is joined by an undercover cop, his handler, the FBI, Mexican law enforcers and a disillusioned ex-biker in this fast paced tale of revenge and retribution.
The bad guys are after Matt for revenge and money but he has plenty of people on his side.
Ultimately, karma has more than a hand in what happens next.
It's sad that this is the last book in the Matt Deal series but I'm looking forward to the next adventure, Stephen will write about!
I received an ARC and I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Stephen Bentley writes brilliant thrillers, and this one is no exception. There are many exciting passages in this book combined with lots of twists and turns. The characters are also really well written so that it seems a shame that this is the last in the series to feature Matt deal.
The concept of this book is quite original and kept me engaged from the start to the end.
I received an advance copy of this book but this review has been voluntarily written and is based on my own opinion.
I enjoyed this third book in the "Detective Matt Deal Thrillers" series. The story was good, although rather short. The first part of the novel seemed to be setting the stage, before it built up to an exciting climax. I didn't find this tale as overtly violent as the first two books of the series. Chris DeFazio's narration was commendable and entertaining. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.
A must read series. This 3rd instalment is the last and what an ending. A nice lead up to what becomes a fast paced, action packed filled book. Shorter than previous ones in the series but it certainly didn't take anything away from the story that needed to be told. Short and sweet you might say with some much needed Mayhem thrown in to get the job done 😊.
An action-packed, exciting story of hatred, revenge, murder and mob violence played out by a maniacal man looking to take out Matt Deal and to set up his own little empire. The third and final book, it tells the fates of Matt, Anna, Merciful, and related characters. To better understand book three, please begin with book one...it sets the foundation for this series. Recommended.
Yet another gripping page turner from Stephen Bentley, action packed. I was unable to put this book down, read in one sitting. Stephen Bentley has that rare and special skill of being able to bring characters to life.
Set in America in 2033 this is one fantastic read. Matt Deal has a price on his head and a gang of bikers are out to get him. Can anyone stop them? This book is full of action and certainly doesn't disappoint.
Mobocracy is the third and final book in the Detective Matt Deal Thrillers series.
This book is an amazing finale for this series. It is action-packed and exciting, a fitting wrap-up for Matt Deal's escapades. I couldn't put it down! I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Another action packed chase with Matt Deal. Great characters and a plot that leave you breathless. The narrator has a good voice clear voice and helps to bring you into the story too. I received this audiobook for free and I wanted to leave an honest review.
This is a very good ending to the series. I couldn’t stop listening had to finish it, right through to an an ending which again I didn’t see coming. Highly recommended listen.

The third and final book in this action packed trilogy. Matt has his life threatened yet again. All in all, a very good conclusion, with it all wrapping up nicely. I was happy to hear what had become of all these characters. I received a complimentary audio version of this book from the author through Story Origin. This is my voluntary review.
This is a shorter book in the Matt Deal series. I listed to the audible version. The narration was good, easy to understand and to listen.
The story is fast paced and wraps up some previous storylines.I would not recommend this book as a standalone, but start with Vol. 1. Matt is a fierce character fighting for justice in a future time filled with evil killers and corruption.
I received a free audible version from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Mobocracy is another terrific book by Stephen Bentley. This book is fast paced and has plenty of twists and turns as Matt Deal once again determined justice will prevail. This is another real page turner and is the final part in the trilogy. I enjoyed all three books with no hesitation to give five stars reviews and I look forward to reading more books by Stephen Bentley.
This is the third book in the series. This short novella is entertaining. The story is less dark and less intense than the first books in the series. This is a great addition to the series. Excellent narration from Chris Defazio #StoryOrigin
