I was drawn to this book (the full book) by its high recommendation, and was about to buy it for $20?) when I noticed this summary version included in my Kindle Unlimited library for free. Notwithstanding that I would miss all the supportive human stories, I found the summary by chapter to be more than sufficient for my needs. For anyone like me who might not want to invest 300+ pages of reading, instead just see what the gist of this modern look into how to more effectively deal with traumatized people by not judging them for their past with "Why are you like this?" rather asking the non-judgemental "What happened to you?"
For me this was an effective way to overview some important psychological work, but others may use the summary to lay a foundation for reading the full book. It was an interesting insight into how to support family and friends who have been traumatized and need our understanding support.
