USA Today best selling author Maureen Child is the author of more than ninety romance novels and novellas. Maureen is a five time nominee for the prestigious Rita award from Romance Writers of America. One of her novels, A Pocketful Of Paradise, was made into a CBS-TV movie called The Soul Collector, starring Melissa Gilbert, Bruce Greenwood and Ossie Davis. Over the years, she’s written under lots of different names and she prefers the term ‘pseudonym’ to ‘alias’. As Ann Carberry, she wrote western historical romances. As Kathleen Kane, she wrote not only Americana romances, but western paranormal romances as well. As Sarah Hart, she wrote one really spectacular western paranormal that is still one of her favorites. And once, Ann Carberry even wrote a Victorian historical which she absolutely loved doing.
Under her own name, Maureen writes short contemporary novels for Silhouette Desire—books she loves to write because of their fast pace and condensed story telling. Maureen is also writing funny, contemporary paranormal romances for NAL and darker paranormal stories for Silhouette Nocturne.
Maureen writes paranormal romance novels under the pesudonym of Regan Hastings
4.5 ⭐ I love this book. My favorite trope is office romance between a boss and his secretary and Maureen Child nailed it.
Tessa is a strong, independent, takes no bullshit kind of woman. After 5 years of being head over heels for her boss Noah but without seeing any light at the end of the tunnel, she finally decides to quit and be her boss by giving more attention to her own business. Noah, our hot and thoroughly focused on work hero of course didn't agree to this because Tessa is literally the organizer of both his life and his work, so, he tries multiple times to get her out of her decision until one night Tessa pulled the trigger and kissed him. Everything from there was hot and sweet. Oh, did I mention that the heroine was not a Virgin!!! This alone made me love the book immediately.
I love both the main characters. I liked their work dynamic, their banter and their passion. This is my first time reading a book with the kind of business both the MC owns which made it a new and enjoyable experience. Last time I read a book by Maureen Child was an Arabic copy and it was long time ago. I'm so happy I tried another book by her.
Noah Graystone is the CEO of Graystone Fine Spirits. His younger siblings Stephanie and Matthew also work for the company. Graystone Fine Spirits is a family business started by their grandfather. Noah was the closest to their grandfather and made a promise to him and himself that he would make the company number one after Noah’s father almost ran it to the ground. Unlike his siblings, Noah eats, sleeps, and breathes the company.
Tessa Parker has been Noah’s assistant for five years. She’s been in love with him almost the whole time she’s worked for him. She’s had to endure making reservations for dinners with other women and even buying “it was fun, now it’s over” gifts. She’s done this all while wishing Noah’s attention was on her as a woman. Finally, after all of these years, she has had enough. She’s tired of being at Noah’s beck and call 24/7. Yes, he does call at all hours and expects her to jump. Tessa wants a life and time to grow her online business. Plus, she really wants a dog and to be able to spend quality time with it.
Tessa gives Noah her two weeks notice and the one thing she’s been wanting to give him for the past five years, a kiss. Big mistake. One kiss doesn’t come close to being enough. Tessa’s last week working for Noah entails a business trip to London. She suggests they use their time abroad to spend more time together, which Noah is more than happy to agree to. But all too soon, they both realize the temporary arrangement they have is something they want to continue. But can Tessa really find love with a man who is already married to his job and views personal relationships as a distraction?
Boss/employee, office romances are nothing new. Maureen Child took this trope and made it fun. Laughs definitely come at the expense of Noah. He’s a self-absorbed alpha who always thinks he’s right. He doesn’t see things from other people’s perspectives. He’s not prepared for or knows how to handle the feelings he has for Tessa once she sets their love affair in motion.
I loved Tessa and Noah beyond measure. They have this great back and forth banter. Their chemistry is off the charts. She really is perfect for him. I really hope Six Nights of Seduction turns into a series. Noah’s siblings both work just as hard as he does, and they need to find love as well.
~ FAVORITE QUOTES ~
“You can succeed in business and love someone.”
**Received a copy of the book from the publisher and voluntarily reviewed it. I also purchased a paperback copy of the book myself.**
Namun sebelum mereka berangkat, Tessa ingin melakukan satu hal setidaknya sekali saja.
Yes this book is cheesy and no the plot is not revolutionary. It is however a pretty good book. It’s a really easy mindless read that has some good romance. I did feel like the end was very rushed.
