I want everything with her, the good, the bad, and the reckless.
This is an example of how you can have an amazing MC story with bada$$, alpha, obsessed men who are not womanizing pigs. You don't have to sit there through pages of the MC brothers, possibly future H's hooking up with randoms and treating women like objects. We get a great storyline with a strong yet vulnerable h who meets the president of the local MC. They both fall hard and fast. Insta-love, virgin h, no details of H's past but doesn't seem like a MW, no abuse, no CW, epilogue is the set up for the next story, which sounds like it will be amazing.

So.
This was a full length novel scrunched down into a little over 70 pages.
I would’ve really enjoyed this had it been full length and we’d have been able to actually get to know these characters and see them come together. Unfortunately, what we got was a bunch of rushed information that sort of just blurred together because nothing was given time to be flushed out.
I liked Piper and her badass skills, and I liked Swift and his possessive behavior, but we just weren’t given the time to actually get to know them.
I know it was a novella and that’s how they are, but usually if you want a shorter book you make it an easier plotline to condense.
This just had too many things going on for it to work.
So.

Good
This was a good MC lite romance. I usually don’t get to read MC stories because I’m not a fan of the guys being manwhores and such. Piper is on the run from a nasty man who her mother sold her to. She was always jealous of the bond between Piper and her dad and she wanted Piper out of the way. Hayden and Piper meet when she was caught trespassing on their territory. It was insta love for both of them. I just wish there was an epilogue between Hayden and Piper.

Completely safe. No ow drama. H is jealous of any man that looks at the h. h has been on the run for 2 years running from a man that bought her from her mother. The title of this book sucked me in. How interesting (I thought). A corpse candle is part of a ghostly legend coming from Wales and the British Isles. It is a mysterious light that hovers over graves and outside houses where death is imminent. Or, more prosaically, it’s a large candle used while watching over the corpse of a loved one before his or her interment. Either way, it stoked my interest.
Well. What a disappointment. I have no idea why the writer chose this title for the book because there is no corpse candle in it, neither metaphorical nor actual.
The story ends on a cliffhanger that the writer kept undisclosed, and I find that inexcusable. Any writer who produces cliffhangers needs to announce them as such. Otherwise, the writer is behaving like a huckster, selling her/his books in hopes of selling more. If a writer uses cliffhangers, then he needs to be proud of them and declare them in all the advertising blurbs.
The story is brief – 77 Kindle pages – and is more of a short story than even a novella. It starts out well: from a horrendous situation, a full-on strong, intelligent young woman, who is on the run from human traffickers, manages to stay ahead of her pursuers for two years. Yes, she’s had survival training from the cradle thanks to her Special Forces dad. And yes, she is almost preternaturally clever and astute. I was enthralled…this kind of heroine is unique, and I was looking forward to her tale.
As the story unfolds, we learn that she is after revenge, was 18 when the horrendous event that changed the course of her life occurred. She is now 20. Very young but a strong survivalist with serious skills. So…why does she turn into a simpering miss at first sight of the handsome (of course) president of the Reckless Omens MC? She’s been raised since birth to trust herself and her dad yet when the MC president tells her to trust him, she does so immediately. She is filled with insta-lust, as is he. At 30% completion, this story goes sideways.
I think the writer was in such a hurry to get into scripting the sex scenes that the plot was overlooked. The sex scenes are adequate, more huff-and-puff than erotic. After the initial 30%, the book fell into a downward spiral. One unbelievable action after another hurls the doomed reader towards the cliffhanger end.
There are a few mistakes. For instance:
“…time fly’s when you’re having fun.” That old saw should read, “…time FLIES when you’re having fun.”
“If he ever wants to go a couple round sparring….” That should read, “If he ever wants to go a couple ROUNDS sparring….”

WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.
Swift/Pres/Hayden mets Piper when she breaks into the compound. Piper has been living at the Reckless Omens compound for a month before Swift and Hitter Hitter's Hex finally discover her. They head out to the edge of the property but soon Piper takes Hitter down. Swift is able to tackle Piper to the ground and discovers she's a girl. Piper apologies and tells Swift she'll leave, but he tells her she's not going anywhere. Piper has been on the run for two years now, when she found out her mother sold her the man has been after her. Piper's father told her to run and not look back, but she did and seen her father being shot. Swift takes Piper back to his office, she realizes she doesn't know where he's taking her and she's been captured. Piper feels safe with Swift, so she lets him lead her to his office. Piper tells Swift that she's been running for two years from a man named Hector Reyes. Piper tells Swift about how poor a job his prospects did on patching up the fence and how she was able to get in undetected. Swift knows who Hector is and then Piper tells him how her mother sold her to him. Piper tells Swift that her father is dead after protecting her and he the one that trained her. Swift shows Piper to her room and tells her he needs to talk to his brothers. Piper wants to know why he's helping her, Swift tells her he hates Hector Reyes. Swift talks to all his brothers and they agree it's time for Piper to stop running from Hector. When Swift starts walking to Piper room she hears a male voice arguing with a female. Swift realizes that it's Piper arguing with someone. After Piper gets out of the shower she finds a man in her room, she can't defend herself since she's just in a towel. The prospect tries to attack Piper, but she breaks his nose. The Prospect grabs Piper's towel then Swift is standing in the doorway. Swift has the Prospect tacked to the ground, he's pounding him and Piper realizes she needs to stop this. Three other guys come in the room and they pull Swift off the Prospect. Swift stand in front of Piper and tell his brothers not to look at her, then he tells them to take the Prospect to the basement. After all the men leave, Swift pulls his shirt off and puts it on Piper. Piper leans up and kisses Swift then he kisses her back. When Swift pulls back, Piper thinks he's rejecting her. Swift tells Piper he's not taking her in this room for their first time. Swift picks up Piper and carries her to his room, then lays her in his bed. Swift asks Piper is she's sure about this, once they do this she's his, she'll be with him forever. Piper tells Swift that sounds like a dream come true. Swift pleasures Piper then they make love. Piper asks Swift what kind of club he's running and he tells her everything is legit. Piper tells him she's seen some of the things they do in the back building, Swift asks her if she's been spieing on them. A week goes by and Swift is trying to spend more time with Piper but she doesn't want him to slack to much. Piper is bored being locked up so she helps around when she can. One of the Prospects walks up to Swift and tells him they're ready to show him the plans for the new bar. Swift tells him to show him what he's got and soon the music starts playing. All the prospects turn and start dancing. Soon Swift is yelling to stop, then tells Piper she'd better have her eyes on him. The prospects explain that they want to do a male version of Coyote Ugly. Swift makes the prospects leave, then tells Piper he wants her or put a tattoo on her. Piper tells him she wouldn't mind a tattoo. Soon Swift is calling Cutter to come in, he tattoo's both Swift and Piper. Piper talks to Hitter about the run Swift set up for her to get out of the club. Swift suggests that he take Piper out on a real date, so she hurries to get ready. Soon Piper is back in the common room dressed to go out. When they arrive, they walk hand in hand to the door. A woman rushes out and bumps into Piper they get into an altercation. When the woman's man comes out he goes after Piper but Swift stops him and tells him to get to his vehicle. The couples leaves, and the rest of the night is spent laughing and talking. They head back to the compound and Swift takes Piper to his room pleasures her then they make love. The next day they head out of the run, before they leave Swift calls Piper up to the front of the room. Swift asks Piper if she'll be his old lady and wear his cut, she tells him yes. Swift tells Piper he loves her and she tells him she loves him too. They all head out on their ride, soon they head to a restaurant. Shots are fired, Swift tackles Piper to the ground. Piper notices three black SUV's, when she sees a gun pointed right at her she knows what she needs to do. Piper wraps her leg around Swift and pulls him landing on top of him. Piper is shot, a few times. Swift is yelling and Piper tells him she loves him. Soon the ambulance comes and they load up Piper and take her to the hospital. When the SUV's take off Swift orders his brothers to follow them. Swift heads to the hospital, then he finds out they captured Hector Reyes and are taking him back to the compound. Swift arrived at the hospital and is told to wait in the waiting room. When the doctor comes out he tells Swift it's going to be a long recovery for Piper but she's not going to wake up for a few hours. Swift knows this is the time to take care of Hector, so he heads back to the compound. While Swift is torching Hector he finds out that Piper's father is still alive, Hector's held him all this time. Swift finds out where Hector is holding up Piper's father. Piper wakes up and realizes that Swift has something he needs to tell her. Swift tells Piper they have Hector, but he told them he has her father.

I liked the idea of this story and the characters but it felt rushed. She was on the run for 2 years and then she meets Hayden and then 3 weeks go by with no mention of the bad guy until the last 2 chapters and it ends kinda on a cliffhanger. The “epilogue” is the Hero for the next book. I would have loved to read about Piper meeting up with her dad again and an epilogue for Piper and Hayden.

“shrug”
This book had a lot of great reviews. It really needs more story and character development. It kinda just jumped from scene to scene. It wasn’t terrible, but there were many times I wanted to roll my eyes. You could tell someone was trying to tell a story. There is potential though.

Piper Taylor is 18 and her mother has sold her to Hector Reyes. Her father is retired Special Forces and he is not happy about this. He has trained Piper since she was a child in all of the self-defense that he learned in the military. He comes to Piper’s room, grabs her to-go bag out of the closet and tells her to run and take the secret trails. Her father goes to the living room with his gun drawn. Piper hears gunshots, thinks both her parents are dead and Hector Reyes is trying to get her. Piper takes the secret trails and keeps running and running.
Swift is the President of the Reckless Omens MC. His Vice President and best friend, Hitter, tells him that someone has breached their security and has been living on their property for the last three weeks. The person is quick and hides their tracks like a professional. Swift was in the military as a Navy SEAL. When he was discharged, he and his fellow SEALS settled in the area and created the motorcycle club.
They have figured out the person is in the second quadrant of their property. Swift and Hitter lead the way while the rest of the men guard the perimeter. Swift tracks the person to a tree. The two men hide in the bushes nearby and wait for the intruder to jump out of the tree. The intruder is Piper.
Swift takes Piper to his office to question her. Piper is mad at herself for being caught and for having naughty thoughts about Swift when she is technically his prisoner. She has been evading Hector Reyes for the last two years. For some reason, Piper believes that she can trust Swift. She tells him about her mother selling her and how she thinks that her parents were both killed. When Piper tells Swift that the man she is running from is Hector, Swift is all in to help Piper. Hector has been a thorn in their sides for years now. He takes her to a guest room to shower while he finds her some clothes. When she asks what she should call him, he tells her to call him Hayden.
I liked that these two were both strong and they were definitely made for each other.

This was insta but nearly a full book, I say that because the drama rolls right into the second book. This was great! I loved the writing and these two are both strong characters. She is a young woman who was in a bad circumstance and yet survived and met this man who was so protective and a perfect match to her as he was a tough leader of an MC.
She had been told something horrible and then had to flee a violent situation, ending up with a great and tough group of men.
I usually am weary of MCs, but luckily there is no sharing, no women crawling around looking to hook up with everyone and the men do not act up and go looking for female companionship if you know what I mean. I felt for her plight and admired how she got through it. Then her meeting this man and experiencing their attraction. This was a family he had, not just an MC club and it was a fun and steamy ride with some drama that looks like it's going to end happy. This book isn't quite done and I'm curious as to how it wraps up in his VP's book which is up next. Loved this!

This was a family he had, not just an MC club and it was a fun and steamy ride with some drama that looks like it's going to end happy. This book isn't quite done and I'm curious as to how it wraps up in his VP's book which is up next. Loved this!

Swift/Hayden and Piper
This is my first time reading this author and she did an amazing job with this story. Swift is a great President for his motorcycle club and is very caring for his group of former military men and makes sure that all is well within the club and their businesses, but one tiny woman breached their compound and even gave the VP a little ass whooping. Piper's mother was going to sell her to an evil and despicable person named Hector Reyes, but her wonderful dad who is also former military has taught her lots of skills since she was a young girl, so she was able to get away and hide for two years before she was caught by Swift. They fell in love and she thought her dad had died the day that she was being sold, but st the end of the story, it's realized that he's been held captive and beaten and tortured for two years until the club rescues him and another innocent female. Happy reading.

This was a phenomenal read! The instant chemistry between Piper & Prez(Hayden) was so hot, and it was hilarious how the entire MC first met Piper. If you love immensely strong and smart women this is the book for you, because Piper was the perfect partner for Prez. Not only are they strong characters, but the spicy times were so good! I couldn’t get enough. 🌶
The way that we learn about how long Piper has been surviving was shocking and so impressive. She was strong and so funny, and I loved how the MC welcomed her and respected her as the Prez’s Ol’ lady. This series is safe so there is no need to worry about the men from this MC doing anything that will upset safe readers. Reckless Omen MC has pretty awesome brothers & I can’t wait for who’s story comes next. Hint: You see who’s story we will pick up with at the end of this book! I’m so excited!

The moment Piper's dad told her to run, she ran. Two years later she is still hiding but this time on the property of Reckless Omens MC.
Swift is pissed that it has been three weeks and still they cannot find the person hiding on their property. He had left it to his prospects and then his men. Now it is time for his hands to get dirty, he earned his road name tracking and when he finds the beautiful but wildcat of a woman in his arms he knows he will do everything to protect her. Will she let him?
This was entertaining, I wish it was a bit longer because there was more I would have liked to red more about. Good chemistry, fun banter. Look forward to the next book.

I am obsessed with this series! It’s so worth it!
“Got it, Prez, but might I suggest you not lose your temper with that one? She might just kick your ass,” the other one says, clearly losing his battle to stifle his laughter. “Yeah, I think I’m a bit more prepared than you were,” Prez says cockily, which just pisses me off. I move my foot slightly in front of his as we move to walk away, and he stumbles. It’s my turn for a cocky smile as we hear a few chuckles behind us.”
“Brother, let her breathe! We know she belongs to you.If you haven't made that clear, she definitely will by kicking anyone's ass that gets too close. Some of us have seen and experienced that shit firsthand,”

Man this book took off right from the beginning. I could not put it down. I loved the characters and really felt the characters emotions. I did feel the ending was rushed. A big twist happens and the author did not give any emotional closure for the incident and just ended book fast leading into the next book. It actually made me mad more than the feeling of a cliffhanger and I need to get the next book. I am going to give this author one more chance and read the next book in hopes of getting some more answers and hope the ending is better in the next book then the ending of this book.

4 1/2 stars - This was a very good biker romance story that's about our feisty Piper who infiltrated the Reckless Omens MC compound while running away from Hector who her mother sold her to. Piper vows revenge against Hector who killed her parents. When President Swift is told someone was living at their compound for weeks, he orders his crew to find them. What occurs when Piper is captured by Swift and afterwards was an engaging short story with likable characters. I'd volunteer to read and review this copy I'd received.

While I’m still not a huge fan of instalove, and this whole series of full of one look is all it took, but I enjoyed the story behind this book and the kick ass Piper. I love a good strong heroine, and this book and series has that in spades. Enough that I accepted the I just knew they were it with one look parts of the book and kept on reading. I also like that these characters show up in the following books though there is some foreshadowing going on that I assume will become more books.

Short and sweet and packed with action! I’m loving the guys in this club. There’s humor and kindness, as well as protectiveness and general badassness. Piper is a total badass who has been through more than her fair share and yet she still has a sense of humor. Swift and Piper together are hot! And the surprise at the end! I didn’t see that coming. So good! Binge mode activated!

hard to rate.
I knew going in this would be a very short book; less than an hour to read. With that said there are going to be some things you know are going to happen like Insta love, a plot that’s not elaborate. However the lack of dialogue and being told everything after it already occurred was truly annoying.
Overall for what it was, it was good enough that I’m interested in reading the next book.

This is a new to me author but I think it’s a keeper! The minute I started reading this book I could not put it down. I loved it so much! Piper is a bad a$$ girl and Hayden (Swift) fell for her the moment she caught his eye. That feeling was mutual and they’re a perfect match! Loved the ending, which makes me really want to read the next book in this series.

Swift’s Strike by Jaycee Wolfe was a well-written MC romance that was engaging throughout. I especially enjoyed Piper, full of grit, sass, intelligence, and skill. Her connection, loyalty, and love to those close to her really made this an entertaining read. I felt that Piper and Hayden (Prez) really complimented each other. He also had grit, determination, and he too was loyal to those close to him. I look forward to reading more from this author and the Reckless Omens MC series.

Unexpected fine
Coming across Jaycee Wolfe books was a wonder surprise. Piper’s and Swift story was a wonderful read. The author packs alot of information in each chapter, the chapters make the points needed to flip the page. It was a quick read for me. Their story is wonderful with a intense ending.

great concept bad execution
I love the concept, the blurb made me excited, but when I saw the whole book is only 89 pages I knew it was going to be rushed and detail-less. I really like the idea and the characters but there wasn’t any character development, it just jumped straight into it and skipped over weeks of potential.

great, fast paced OTT MC book
If you’re looking for a fast paced, over the top, insta-attraction MC book with a fierce h, this is the book for you! This was a great, quickish read! Ends with a HEA, HFN, cliffhanger. The story wraps up, but also leads you right into the next one in the series and I’m so excited!!!

The whole series is a MUST READ!!!!
I was nervous at first...most mc romances have those no nos I don't read. But I forgot that jaycee used to have another pen name and I have aaaalllll those books! And now I feel really silly cuz I fell IN LOVE in the first two chapters. And talk about safe with the perfect angst!!! Girl I will never doubt you again!

Very good
This story is a pretty fast read. Piper sure did have to run fast leaving her parents behind. Her mother sold her to a bad man, her dad had taught her to fight and run. Piper had been on the run for 2 years. Piper sneaks in on the property of Swift's. He gets one look at her, and that's it for him. This is a cliffhanger.

short instant love
Honestly this wasn’t my fav but if you are in the mood for instant love and a very quick story this is for you. I would have loved for the story to be drawn out more and for the characters to have more development but since it’s supposed to be short it does the job.

My first read from this author and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed, but also a bit ticked. That ending left too many open ends, didn't give me a full HEA and was a cliffhanger. I mean, talk about a way to hook in your readers and guarantee that they come back for more. I guess it's a saving grace that all the books are published, so I can binge the whole series at once and not wait in between publishing dates.
