One dark, stormy night in 1816, in Geneva, Switzerland, a small group of English poets and writers decided to tell ghost stories by candlelight. Challenged to write an original ghost story, 18-year-old Mary Shelley created the story of Victor Frankenstein and the monster he brought to life.
This version of one of the most famous horror stories in the world has been adapted for intermediate English language learners and includes vocabulary support, notes on the story, and critical thinking and discussion questions.
Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the Goodreads database with this name. Jeremy Taylor is a writer, a teacher trainer, and photographer who lives in a small village in the Czech Republic. He has written more than 50 eBooks and pBooks, mostly for learners of English.
This is a brilliant story regardless of the adaption.
This particular adaptation has been done for children with English as a second language. As long as they are not too young it should do great. I'll admit I ran it past my sister who teaches at primary school. She said she wouldn't read it to her class but then hers are very young.
So have fun with this. Maybe not as graphic as the original but still good.
