Radioactive

Rate this book
The Sins of the Father

When Rayna and her boss attend an exclusive political fundraising, they witness the assassination of the candidate’s wife by masked thugs. Rayna gives chase and narrowly escapes death when their fleeing SUV suddenly and inexplicably blows up.

Were the murderers terrorists? Hired killers? Political extremists?

As she and her organized vigilante organization dig deeper, they discover that that the rally was the final piece in the puzzle to finance a plot to blow up an abandoned nuclear reactor.

The candidate himself and his best friend are the pained masterminds. They’ve waited since the debacle of Three Mile Island to take revenge for the sins of science and the sins of their fathers.

Applying their well-honed skills from elite Special Forces in the United States and Canada, Rayna and her team methodically unravel the obscure clues to thwart the impending holocaust.

Tick tock. Tick tock.

I write what I know and care about.

My work is infused with relentless furious action and/or paranormal charismata. Contemporary worlds infused with mysticism. Breathless, brain-twisting plots. High stakes suspense that churns the psyche.

But ultimately it is knowing and experiencing the lives of people that provide the impetus of Stories that Grip the Soul.

I've made music with Kainai First Nations, helped save Russian refugees from deportation, hung with Martial Arts Grandmasters, counseled WWII vets on their deathbeds. Not to mention deep Chinese, cultural participation,

Wes Lowe – Rayna Tan Thriller Series Bk 4 – Radioactive – Review 8/1/21 – Read 6/24-25/21

When a child does not know all the facts of his parents, it can lead to unbalanced events!

When Rayna Tan steps in as a replacement for her boss’s wife due to a minor injury, they arrive at an exclusive Political event where they witness the assassination of the candidate’s wife. When Rayna gives chase to the killers their SUV mysteriously blows up right in front of her, almost taking her with it.

Rayna’s elite vigilante organization is working on the investigation of the event and the woman’s death. This leads them to the discovery that the event was the ultimate step in raising the funds to blow up an abandoned nuclear reactor. Furthermore, they found that the candidate and the other suspected terrorist are friends and have planned their revenge for the death of his family during the Three Mile Island event.

Join Rayna and her fellow compatriots track and attempt to stop the terrorists in their mission…

What did I like? Having followed Rayna from the beginning this long-awaited next chapter in her adventures was a welcome sight. I only wish that I could have the abilities that she possesses in her little finger. She has beauty and skills that are as much of a second nature to her, as a person’s ability to walk across a room. She has the support of a father that is there for her anytime that she needs him, along with an employer that will take a bullet for her. What more could an operative ask for?

What will you like? A strong female lead character that takes the pages with a storm, digging into the mysteries that this mission hands them. It’s a kick-butt, rip-roaring adventure that takes every member of the team to solve and they do so with finesse. The storyline is extremely well written with tons of sass from all of the characters. The characters are just as unique as the mystery they are seeking to solve, the screwed-up terrorists are as nuts, as you would expect them to be. But certainly, lacking something in the head department! If you are looking for an action-packed thriller, just check out any of Wes’s work and you won’t be sorry! “Radioactive” will be available 8/6/21

Mr. Lowe does a very good job laying out the precise staging that Davy and Carter, best friends from grade school, put into their plan to avenge their losses surrounding the Three Mile Island (TMI) power plant’s disastrous radiation leak. Davy’s father, a TMI plant maintenance man, and his mother, both died from radiation poisoning, and Davy himself was likewise slowly dying from it. Carter’s father Harold, a TMI manager (and a womanizer), quickly left town, having little more to do with Carter or his mother. He acquired a new career in law, eventually rising through politics to a Senate position, chairing a Nuclear Energy Safety committee. Carter blamed Harold for his mother committing suicide. The boys found success: Davy as a doctor, specializing in radiation oncology, and Carter as a lawyer, and vowed to stage a nuclear “accident” that could be traced to Harold and bring him down. Mr. Lowe has obviously researched the subject very thoroughly and intertwines the science with a deep dive into human emotions around the revenge issue to lead up to the final stages in the plan. The build-up is a bit slow and deliberate, but the suspense is bubbling up.

Meanwhile, Rayna and her team are called into an investigation at the late stages. Using all the tools available to them, they are able to notice things that aren’t exactly as they appear, and people get hurt as the plan progresses. Can they possibly get ahead of the boys’ plan and intervene to stop it? At this point, the pace quickens and keeps the reader on the edge of their chair, hoping that Rayna is successful. I thoroughly enjoyed this story – another success for Mr. Lowe. I received an ARC – this review is my honest opinion – and I bought a copy of the book to support this outstanding author.

It's a good plot but did take me some time to get into it, as it went backwards and forwards. I would have preferred it to start at the back and then bring the story to the present day, nonetheless, I did enjoy it. The 2 friends that cause all the damage one in particular lost his family to Radioactive poisoning so many years later he knows he is on borrowed time, but his friend and ally were not who he seems.
Rayna was on holiday with her boyfriend and was called back as trouble was brewing and a political fundraiser was also in the offering so plenty to see plenty to do when everything comes to a head.
Fast pace plenty to keep you guessing, as I stated earlier would have preferred the book is two halves, but would other people who knows we all differ.

This was my first book by the author so I really didn’t know his style of writing. It took me a while to get into the book. At first, I thought I was reading two different books; one about Ryna and Steve in the jungle and the other about Davy and Carter trying to blow up an old nuclear reactor site. The story went back and forth between the two and it wasn’t until the second half of the book that things started to get together. That’s when I really started to enjoy the book. Ryna and her boss attend a political fundraiser when the candidate’s wife is killed. That is when Ryna finds out there is more to the story and discover just what Davy and Carter are really up to.

I like the twists and turns that can happen in peoples mind so that reality can be blurred and become be real to them.

It’s terrible when one seeks revenge for past issues and has no regard as to who gets in the way or gets hurt.

It’s also rotten when trust becomes a fickle thing and that it is only a moment away from disappearing.

When two old friends get together for similar reasons they can go a little overboard in their dreams of deception and payback.

Read and see how some people spiral out of control while other rise to the surface from the muck and mire of everyday life.

Read and see how your enemy can be my friend or your enemy is also my enemy.

Radioactive is the 4th book in the Rayna Tan Series by Wes Lowe

This is one of the most interesting books in this series. It's an exciting yet unusual story with exciting characters and action scenarios that you would expect with author Wes Lowe.

But here is why you should read this book: Wes Lowe has a writing style that is rarely done by authors. As you are reading the book, the text brings you inside the story and provides you with all of the necessary dialogue and scenes that has a look-and-feel of you watching a TV movie. To be sure, you will find this to be an uncanny feeling to behold.

You will really love reading this book.

Clandestine meeting..The dealer was a fake, and Davy and Carter were out millions. Davy wanted revenge against Harold for his parents death from this material. Carter revenge against his Dad for his mother’s suicide
Changing appearances, faking their deaths, playing with danger.
For Rayne another Fidelitas mission for her, wasn’t easy.
Full of action will they uncover what all these two did.
Given ARC my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Two friends, for different reasons, plot to bring down one of their fathers for his hand in their  demise, regardless of how many innocent people will suffer at their hands. Rayna, a highly trained  operative and her team becomes embroiled in a race against time to stop the disaster. Contains revenge, scheming, deceit, murder. Action throughout and keeps you interested to discover the outcome. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

What an intriguing thriller! There were so many facets to this story occurring over the span of a lifetime that had to come together just right. Wes Lowe does a masterful job doing this! I enjoy how Rayna’s mind works, how strong and quick she is, how she can deal with any situation. She is a strong woman and an inspiration. I greatly enjoyed reading this book!

I really like Rayna Tan and all the characters at Fidelitas. Like the previous books in the series, this was fun to read but I never really got into the book as much as in the prior books. The ending was very fast moving and enjoyable so I’m still a fan.

I received an ARC copy of the book in return for an honest review.

A dirty bomb+nuclear power plant

Lowe has put together a good story. While it is not his best work it is still a great read and well worth your time. Rayne is a tough go get them operator but much of story is focus on the the building the bombs so the story isn't as exciting as the other books in this series but still enjoyable.

Rayna Tan is a highly trained operative. Murder and a plot to blow up an old nuclear power plant. The nuclear power plant still has the core of highly radioactive rods in place. Rayna is working with a team to find out where and when this will occur. Action and danger in this page turning thriller.

Wes has got another good book out. Rayna is still the same vixen that makes the story go.

This book is mostly about keeping some dirty bombs from killing a city and releasing radiation. Good writing makes this book a very good read.

between the 3 locations. But finally got down

Radioactive - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Rayna Tan is a spy for Fidelitas - a sub-group of the FBI black ops organisation
- and she's ready for action at a minute's notice.

Told over a split timeline going backwards and forwards, in tandem with the international storyline of home-grown nuclear terrorists, Carter and Davy - childhood friends who both lost their fathers to radiation poisoning and want revenge as adults.

Rayna and lover Steven, a doctor, agree to go to the middle East, where he's helping treat refugees, while she's trying to disrupt the sale of materials that will be used against the US.
Can they break the chain of events before it's too late and unmask the killers?

Wes Lowe has clearly done excellent research on the details of nuclear reactors, how their fuel rods can be weaponised and alternatives to cause major damage from relatively common products and has woven the facts into a 'what if...?' scenario that's completely believable, complete with engaging characters and an all-action storyline that will grab your attention and hold it tight throughout.
