My library's edition was from 1989, so while the pictures were mostly okay, I have seen better shots of the ancient art elsewhere, with updated information.

An excellent introduction to the history of art and architecture. Hartt focused on Italian renaissance art during his life so that section is the best, but the overview is quite good.
