This quickstart is a preview of Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game, including the basic mechanics of the game, information on how to create a character, guidelines on running the game, an adventure with six pre-generated characters tailored to the situation, six blank playbooks if you’d like to create your own characters, and more. You’ll find everything you need to start playing the game and run through the adventure we’ve included! These quickstart rules aren’t final— we’ll be updating and adjusting the mechanics as we work on the final version of the game.

A really nice introduction to the upcoming Avatar Legend RPG and a great way to just hop in and start playing. It comes with pregenerated characters and an “adventure” (basically just a setup, how it goes really depends on the players).

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the “Balance” mechanic and how to intergrade it smoothly and effetely into games. It’s really not clear how it’s used and what the advantages are for rolling with a balance stat, and my biggest concern is that minipulating these stats will make things too “mechanical” for a Powered by the Apocalypse game.

It’s a very nice looking RPG, and the combat system looks pretty interesting, I’m looking forward to trying it out more, as well as seeing the finished book when it’s released.
