Killer Trace Book One: The Immersion

Rate this book
Vigilante justice is often the best kind of justice.

Professionally guided hunts are typically the best kind of hunts.

Your guides will be members of the Tavenner Group.

Your quarry might be a serial rapist... or a murderous gangster... or a child molester... you name the type of hunt you'd like to go on... and the Tavenner Group will take it from there... for a substantial price, of course.

Ben Tavenner is an eye doctor... a psychoanalyst... and a killer of those deserving to die. He works to "make the world a better place," as he puts it.

Natalie Darden seems willing to give up her last tress of innocence to have Ben. As his secretary for eight years, the one-eyed yet still quite pretty Miss Darden has no idea how her boss earns most of the money he spends. But soon she will find out.

I requested & received a free copy of this audiobook either from the author/narrator or a promotion or giveaway and am voluntarily writing an honest and unbiased review.

This was a great premise and a good story all round. The characters were well rounded and likeable and the interaction between them worked well. The relationship between the sisters was particularly well written. The story has a good pace and mostly kept me interested and eager to know what was going to happen next with a nicely balanced mix of action and personal interaction.

The narrator was very pleasant to listen to and did an excellent job throughout.

The bits I wasn’t so keen on: First, like several other authors, there was a lot of detail about the weaponry used which doesn’t really hold my attention. I’d rather have more descriptive action than long winded reports about what kind of gun, what calibre ammo etc was used.

Second, and for me the low point, was the unnecessary constant detail about what everyone was wearing down to brands and colour of socks in some cases. Is this a thriller or a fashion show? Towards the end I actually groaned aloud “oh no more” when everyone’s attire was described in minute detail.

Otherwise, it was an enjoyable book and I might read the next in the series to see what happens.
