If you enjoy books that encourage you to think of your own values and you're willing to be a little patient, this book might be for you. Dani does have rather a slow start. The author takes care to give you plenty of information about each character of significance and background into their relationships. Because of that, it does take a while to reach the fantasy elements of the book. There was a surprise that led to the reveal of those elements, and I do always appreciate when books can surprise me without sacrificing characterization or plot (so basically, surprises that are surprising because they make no sense). Overall, I was interested in the characters of the book and was interested to see what would happen to them, but the pacing was a little too slow to fully grip my attention. I think the author showed quite a bit of potential though and will look into more of his works.
