Whoever said distance makes the heart grow fonder was right. I took a break from this series (because I was finding it pretty mediocre) but I’m back and suddenly in love with everything that I previously wasn’t. The art style? So good. The characters? YES. The gore and bloodiness of it all?? Sign me upppp.
So many badass devils were introduced in this volume. I mean, a shark, violence, spider and angel devil? I’m so excited for where things are heading.

This feels like the volume where the story went from insane crazy ultra violent mayhem, to something larger, more serious, and sinister. There are:
There are supposedly 11 volumes published in Japan, so we are over a third of the way through the story, and I am thoroughly enjoying the mix of violence, humor, conspiracy, and over the top commentary on human nature.

Holy fucking shit, carnage and death everywhere.
With our main hero going face to face with another demon can he win this time? When the fight ends, the real story just begins. People getting squashed out of nowhere, the hottie Makima shows off why she runs the show and it is scary as hell. Denji and Power get introduced to a old geezer who's a bit crazy but teaches them plenty. Aki exacts revenge or begins to form his plan after the death of a loved one.
Everything, plot included, move ahead in this awesome action packed volume. Chainsaw man is wild, weird, and I can't put it down.

After facing severe casualties and crippling injuries, Denji’s team realize how outmatched they are by the gang of mysterious assassins aiming to steal the demon within Denji's heart. Makima calls in a new wave of devil hunters for backup and places the main trio under intensive training. Denji and Power take lessons on tactical teamwork while Aki seeks strength from more sinister sources.
I really like the direction the story is taking in this one. There’s political warfare between gangs from several countries plotting against each other from behind the scenes. The motives and personalities of the protagonists have matured beyond their simplistic origins. Makima is also shaping up to be a badass character that manages to be extremely cunning and intimidating in every scene she appears in. She's really rocking the terrifying genius lady with supernatural powers in a fancy business suit vibes.
Denji and Power’s chaotic duo energy continues to be a joy to see. They both share a single brain cell, but at least they’re trying. Also feed bad for Aki, poor guy has lost and given up so much.
My rating: 3.8/5

This manga series is definitely not for everyone, it is violent and vulgar. But everytime I read a volume, when I am finished I feel the urge to read another. I don't really understand the whole story, but it keeps me intrigued! And I was honestly surprised that I was emotional at a certain death in this volume! I'm excited for volume 5!

I'm just letting myself go with the flow for now, enjoying the stupidly funny bits and marveling at the thrills and sudden turns and shocking revelations.
I forgot that some of the scenes shown here would be more shocking in Japan since it involves civilians having handguns in public, something that is strictly forbidden there and rarely seen. Maybe that's also why the biggest villain is the Gun Devil.

This series is picking up. A few less juvenile sex jokes but a lot more violence. Things are getting serious.
The demons are cool and the powers they have are pretty unique. There's a lot more political plotting going on than I expected as well. The world of Chainsaw Man gets developed.
I'm excited to keep reading this series now.

To say that Chainsaw Man is without problems would be an outright lie, but it tries its best to deliver some action packed, gory story with some elements of drama and humor.

Volume four was a lot of filler, but it has some really iconic moments with my favorite characters. Kobeni’s big scene is epic and I loved the introduction of some new fiends and devils.

The mayhem is strong. Repercussions from the previous battle are quite high and that means we need to have a little training arc. Everything in this world has a high price and damn, there are no sales.
The end of the volume introduces us to new characters, new fiends and they are even bigger abominations than Denji and Power.
One thing that I am constantly in awe of is the attention to faces and atmosphere. Fujimoto really knows how to bring out emotions in his work. Also, the designs of devils are superb and disturbing. Sometimes the characters may feel little bit clunky, but that is a minor nitpick in overall a great series.
