The Foundation

While not a fun, feel-good read, The Foundation is an excellent example of showing the consequences in the breakdown of society and family life. Carr is adept at combining the good intentions of her heroine with the evil that lurks in a world of sex trafficking. She takes an unpleasant subject and makes it a very thought provoking read. Good job Roberta R. Carr.

The Foundation by Roberta R. Carr completely pulled me in from the very first chapter and refused to let go. This is one of those books that entertains you while also forcing you to think about real issues happening in the world around us.
What stood out to me most was the contrast between the two main characters. Tara is compassionate, driven, and genuinely dedicated to helping vulnerable people, while Alexander is complex, damaged, and morally gray. Their opposing personalities create a fascinating dynamic that kept me turning pages to see how their stories would collide.
The storyline itself is intense and deeply emotional. The mystery surrounding the teenage runaway immediately grabbed my attention, and as the investigation unfolded, I found myself becoming more invested in the characters and the truth behind what happened. The author does an excellent job of building suspense while tackling the disturbing reality of human trafficking and abuse. The subject matter is dark, but it is handled in a way that feels meaningful rather than sensationalized.
I also appreciated how realistic the characters felt. They aren't perfect heroes or villains; they have flaws, struggles, and motivations that make them believable. Tara's determination to seek justice was inspiring, and even Alexander's character revealed layers that made him more intriguing than I initially expected.
The writing is engaging, fast-paced, and emotionally charged. There were several moments that made me angry, heartbroken, hopeful, and relieved all within a few chapters. Few books manage to create that kind of emotional impact. The author clearly put a great deal of care into both the story and its message.
While this book contains difficult themes and isn't always an easy read, it is an important one. It shines a light on issues that deserve attention and does so through a compelling narrative filled with tension, heart, and unforgettable moments.
Overall, The Foundation is a gripping and thought-provoking novel that stayed with me long after I finished the final page. I would highly recommend it to readers who enjoy suspenseful stories with strong characters, emotional depth, and meaningful social themes. This was my first book by Roberta R. Carr, and it definitely won't be my last.

Tara a lawyer was giving some money from a friend and she decided she was going to open a place called The Foundation. It was to help woman who were abused or in trouble in their lives. She took on a case with a beaten up young girl named Ashlee. Her and her friend Leah got involved with a man who was using them for prostitutes & sex trafficking purposes . Leah went with it Ashlee refused and got beat up real bad and ended up in the hospital. Tara took her as her first Foundation client. Tara and Ashlee become very close. Ashlee was scared for her life. Tara went a bit to far to help find the men who did this to her and put herself in danger also.

Excellent!!
The book was excellent! Great writing, characters and plot, the book had it all. The book made me uncomfortable many times. The theme is human trafficking and helping one girl at a time.
