Pell learns to love pants.
Pie learns to love magic.
And Tomas learns to love a woman.

Pie and Pell are like two peas in a pod. Meant for each other, madly in love, and living their best lives as Mr. and Mrs. Monster of Saint Mark’s. Kind of. Pie is dreading her new job working for the tall, dark, and sleek Modern Minotaur. And the irony that just a few weeks ago she was demanding that Pell allow her to get a job to support the sanctuary, isn’t lost. It’s like the gods are playing with her on purpose.

Pell is still his grumpy self but he’s got a new job as well—babysitting a bag of magic rings that seem to have a mind of their own. No matter where he hides them, they will not stay put. Add in a doorway he can suddenly see and a new power he forgot he had, and well… things are getting interesting.

Tomas is a brand-new man. Literally. His new freedoms are just the beginning of his adventure into modern humanity. Not only can he leave the sanctuary, drive a truck, and spend time with the people in Granite Springs—he also learns how to cheat the rules.

Everything has changed for the better. But when Pie discovers the secrets of magic, Pell uncovers the real purpose of the rings, and Tomas falls in love with a Townie… things change again.

b>Only this time, they’re the ones with all the power.

Savage Saints is a fun, romantic romp through an ancient curse. It is book two in the Monsters of Saint Mark’s series and must be read in order. Written by New York Times bestselling author, JA Huss, under her pen name, KC Cross.

Unique and unpredictable!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💚🖤
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😕😊😄😘🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Pie - she has spent her whole life as a human girl, albeit a lonely one who was abandoned by her mother at a young age because everyone thought she was crazy. She had an imaginary friend, a bird named Pia who spoke to her. Though now everything has changed. She now is a nymph chimera, a monster. She was told she was no longer the caretaker of St. Marks Sanctuary, but she still owes a debt that is growing every day now that a bunch of monsters have arrived.

The Hero: Pell - he loves Pie and is devoted to making her life better. He is a satyr chimera. His old friend Tarq, a Minotaur, now holds Pie’s debt and she has to work for him in his other world, through his tomb. While Pie is away at work, Pell finds new purpose at the sanctuary, creating magic of his own and working hard as a blacksmith. He is changing as well, and is starting to question things about the sanctuary, like where all the tombs are coming from, since more fill the graveyard all the time.

The Story: I had thought this book would be more of Tomas’s story and in a way, it was, but it was also Pell and Pie’s continuing story. Tomas is no longer a dragon; he has changed into a dragon chimera and both he and Pell have magical rings and they can leave the sanctuary and go into town looking like human males. They also found a bag full of magical rings for all the other monsters who are now roaming the sanctuary. Though Pie and Pell have kept the bag of rings hidden since they don’t think allowing all the monsters to walk free into the human world is a good idea. Though the bag full of magic rings keeps popping up all over the place.

There are a bunch of fantastic characters in this book besides Pie, Pell, Thomas and Tarq. All the other monsters are great, and Thomas is the only one who can speak their language. Pie gives them all great names, like Batty, Eyebrows, Cookie and more. There is also Talina (the other nymph chimera who works with Pie), Madeline (the human girl Tomas starts dating) and of course, Russ Roth (the local sheriff). Russ Roth has gathered a posse of others and are calling themselves the Savage Saints and they are trying to hunt down all the monsters.

A whole heck of a lot happens in this book, especially towards the ending. There is an evil queen, a lot of magic, and things get pretty messy for the monsters of Saint Mark’s. One thing I really liked about this book and series is that it is unlike any other I have read in the past. Not only are the monsters different than most other paranormal books, but the story is unique and unpredictable which I love.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Jason Clarke and Hathaway Lee. Both of these are terrific narrators and both of them are great at using different voices and accents for different characters, especially Jason Clarke, who does a whole cast of male characters in this one.

Another excellent book in the Monsters of St. Marks series!!! Savage Saints was a fucking blast!!! I've never laughed so fucking hard in my life. Pie is one of the most funniest female lead characters I've ever read with some of the best one liners! I just love this chic! She's quirky and street smart but at the same time down to earth with a beautiful innocence that not only has Pell and the other monsters captivated by her, but me as well! I'm in totally in love with her. The relationship between her and Pell is magical and their passion breathe taking! This is my new favorite couple and they go together so perfectly. Pell is a sweet beastie who's love for pie is without bounds. He takes such good care of her and even when Pie deep ends it( which happens quite a bit in this book) he is her safe place and the calm in her storm. This book had a lot going on with Tomas now being free of his dragon form so he's decided to leave the sanctuary and on his to do list learning to drive which was hilarious! And finding a girlfriend and think he's found the one with Madeline but he'll have to deal with her uncle and his crew first. Then theirs the newest monsters that nobody understands except tomas . He's in charge of their care like batty,eyebrows and cookie monster just a few of the monsters that pie has nicknamed. And then theirs the sinfully beautiful and arrogant Tarq!!! I will go on record saying I would do this Minotaur badboy in a heartbeat! I don't know what I'd do with his huge......ego😂 but I'm game. This book is full of steamy hot lovemaking with lots of laugh out loud moments like the scene where all the monsters sitting around the radio with tea and peanut butter toast getting advice from Dr love on kissing! If this all sounds good to you then this book is for you!!! I can't wait for book 3 Royal Beasts coming out in December !! JA Huss writing as KC Cross is a fantastic writer and her crossover into the fantasy genre has been a total success with this series!!! Until next time Luv's💕💋

This series is so much fun. You definitely need to read them in order—but the continuation is just as good as the first volume. I think I chuckled throughout the entire book—excellent, absurd moments, great dialogue, and an entire Greek Chorus of monsters pantomiming emotion in the background.

The author talks about finding sanctuary in a crazy, unpredictable world at the end of the book, and I have to say that this little passion play was a sweet respite for my exhausted soul.

Savage Saints is adorable. Yes, I said adorable. Not a word that usually comes to mind when thinking about a J.A. Huss book I know, and she might be scratching her head should she read this review, but this second installment in the Monsters of Saint Mark's is truly great fun all the way around. Once the stage had been set in book one, Damaged Gods, we now get to watch as Pie and Pell stay undeniably in love as she starts to work off her debt to Tarq in another world. Their day-to-day is interesting, to say the least as Pell finds himself missing his mate but finds his previous 'calling' as a blacksmith a great way to spend his days. His talent is a bit awe-inspiring and clearly helps in figuring out how to dispense with the curse that was put upon him and free himself and Pie once and for all.

Pie is a delight to see as she stumbles a bit through her time working for Tarq, that book of debt the true bane of her existence. Her assistant, Talina, is a cutie and becomes a true friend to the hesitant Pie as she helps her boss realize her gift of spelling. And not the kind you do in grammar school. Poetic spells seem to roll off of her tongue and become the window she and Pell have been seeking in order to rid themselves of the curses and darkness that have plagued them.

But what I really did love most were the true feelings of family that Pie, Pell, and the standout in Tomas (he is THE best) have not only for each other but the array of monsters who are now part of the Saint Mark's Sanctuary. I laughed often at their unconventional lifestyle and the way they tease and call each other out. But it's their sense of loyalty, especially when things get serious and their sanctuary is threatened by neighboring forces who insist on hunting monsters (assassins once again!) and ridding them of their area for good, that showed how united a force they need to be when absolutely necessary.

There are wonderful times of joy as they all get used to each other, perfectly placed among times of despair when incredulous secrets are revealed and they have to deal with those who only want to continue to cause them harm. Pie, Pell, and Tomas have a huge battle ahead of them as they are all willing to fight for what they want and more importantly, what they deserve. It is going to be epic.

This paranormal monster rom-com is as unique as the author herself. The little nuances Huss throws in wrt being a monster whether it be descriptions of horns, hooves, scales, or body hair, bring this entire storyline to life with her brilliant prose. I'd love to hang out with this crazy crew and cannot wait for book 3, Royal Beasts, where anything and everything is bound to happen. With what was uncovered and explained in Savage Saints, there will still be quite the uphill battle for Pie, Pell, and Tomas. Even Tarq has his work cut out for him and hopefully, all together they can find a way to a future filled with hope and happiness.

When looking for a well-written and compelling read, look no further than J.A. Huss and this latest gem in her vast library of work. Please remember that Damaged Gods MUST be read first so go and do that if you have not as yet done so. And then dive right into Savage Saints and enjoy this wild ride just like I did. It is simply wonderful and worthy of all the stars and more!

This is the most original, inventive series I have read in a very long time.

I won't even try to explain it, because part of its charm is how baffling it all is, but it's just so much fun and so different.

Pie and Pell (yes, the names are absurd, but it sort of fits) and ridiculously cute and hot together. I love how quirky they and the characters are.

The world building is immense, yet confusing. We keran about things at the same rate as Pie and Pell. Co aidering both have been spelled to forget so many details, and are actively challenging the God's to break their Curse, it means we end up working out what is happening a lot of the time, just like the characters. But the book is just so enjoyable I don't care that I'm baffled half the time.

Not everyone will like this series. I can imagine that some will loose patience or not find the random absurdity enjoyable or appealing. But I definitely do!

Once again I was completely captivated, not only by the story but the characters as well. I can’t get enough of Pie & Pell. They are absolutely characters that you will never forget. I mean who wouldn’t like a monster named Cookie lol, Pie is too cute in naming her monsters. I love the mystery of this story and trying too figure out wtf is going on. Tomas is another character that everyone will love as well. I’ll be counting down the months until BK 3 will be released. Brilliant, charming and another 5 star read.

I LOVED this. It took me forever to get through it but it's because I'm trying to finish a book so my availability to listen to audiobooks is somewhat limited at the moment. But I LOVED this so much. Can't wait for the third book and I LOVED the new development at the end of this one! This is a series that you must read in order so start with Damaged Gods. And if you're listening to the audios, the narrators are FABULOUS Jason Clarke and Hathaway Lee.

2.5 Stars!

This book would have been so much better without the 'comedy' attempt. It just didn't work (at least, not for me). It felt forced and disingenuous and threw a wrench in the flow of the storytelling. Plus, it was frustrating AF! Too many times throughout this particular book, Pie came off as a simpleton more than as cute and funny. Just one example is her ridiculous confusion over what Talina meant when she said she was a certified expert in spelling.
"Tarq wants me to do spells... Do you know anything about this kind of stuff?”
Talina nods. “Oh, yes. I went to school for years to learn. I’m a certified expert in spelling.”
“Spelling?” My face crinkles up. “Like… ABC’s?”
“No.” Talina laughs. “Spelling. Like… casting spells.”
“Ohhhhh. Gotcha. OK. So, can you teach me?”
“Yes. I will teach you how to spell.”
“Wait, we’re still talking about magic, right? Not Dick and Jane books?”
“Dick and who?”
“You’re not going to teach me how to spell words, right? I already know how to do that.”
“Well… that’s how you do magic. Spelling is magic.”

Oh. My. God! This exchange was so stupid! This was no "Who's On First" routine, where 'dumb' was humorously portrayed in a clever back and forth between Abbott & Costello. This felt more like Jessica Simpson asking if 'Chicken of the Sea' is tuna or chicken. And we're supposed to find this blatant 'dumb' act funny! It made me wonder if MY intelligence was being insulted!

The heroine's inability to grasp simple concepts, like people from different worlds/dimensions/alternate realities having other names for things, or perhaps measuring things on a different scale (I guess she'd never heard of the metric system) did not strike me as funny or even mildly humorous. Her repeated displays of ignorance were just freakin' tedious! Maybe everyone gave her that 'you're simple' look because she was. Only, I didn't find it cute or endearing like they did. I found it annoying AF!

I think I loved Savage Saints even more than I loved Damaged Gods! Pie and Pell and Tomas are back for another round of hijinks and magic!

Pie, Pell and Tomas are trying to settle into their new normal at Saint Mark’s Sanctuary, along with their 50+ new monsters. Tomas seems to be the only one who understands what they say, but so far they’re turning out to be pretty darn helpful. Pie is starting her new job working her debt off with Tarq, and Pell is getting back to doing things he hasn’t done in centuries.

This go around was SO fun and entertaining! I loved how Pie is really coming into her own. She’s discovering things about herself that really start to boost her confidence, and light is shed on exactly what she’s truly capable of. We thought she did some cool magic in the first book, well hold on to your hats for another crazy ride!

Pell….is still Pell. He’s gruff and moody and intimidating, but Pie has really smoothed out his edges, mostly. He’s getting back to doing things he’d pretty much forgotten about for so very long, but things are coming back to him now, things that could help him and Pie figure out how to break that dang curse!

And Tomas, oh my goodness, Tomas! I totally love him and his naivety when it comes to the humans! And he’s in love! With someone, or something? I can’t wait to get more of his story!
Julie has the most incredible talent when it comes to creating these fantastical worlds. I fall straight into her stories, never wanting to come out. How I wish I could be a wood nymph for just one day! How cool would that be? I never thought I would be a big fantasy reader, but Julie makes it so easy to get lost in her stories. I’m dying for more of Saint Mark’s already, I literally just finished this book!

I adored Damaged Gods. This installment, Savage Saints, leaned into the comedy rather than the creepiness of St Mark's, with the influx of new monsters and madcap names, which was a bit of a miss for me but that's a me thing. It was fast paced, full of action, new characters, and new perils to face. It kept me engaged and enamored.

That said, I missed the quiet times and the emotional arcs with Pell and Pie. I had my heart set on more mythology, more minotaur sexiness, more Mr. Brikma... err Tarq. Hopefully, our new quest will get us more of the creepy Gothic goodness I loved so much in Damaged Gods.

I tell ya. This is what KC Cross aka JA Huss does best. Building a world that is both deceivingly beautiful and increasingly scary. The imagery her words brings to mind is stunning. The Monsters of Saint Mark's are growing by leaps and bounds, not only in number but in ability. Damaged Gods is a must read prior to this story otherwise you may find yourself a bit lost. Savage Saints brings us more clarity into this crazy monster world. More clarity for Pie - who she is, what she is capable of. More clarity to Tomas, who finally has a chance to maybe feel love. More clarity for Pell who always felt so ambivalent about everything, soon realizes that there is WAY more to who he is/was and his friendship with Tarq. There are more worlds and more monsters to meet and more secrets to unearth and by the time this story ends, people will be ready to set the world on fire!

I really enjoyed this one, but not quiteeee as much as the first. I was very slow wrapping my head around all the... stuff. Still not 100% sure if I understand the end bits, but I like it anyway!

Gave me a chuckle every so often, and it's just pleasant to read about Pie, Pell, and Thomas.

** Savage Saints is book two in the Monsters of Saint Mark's series and should be read after book one, Damaged Gods. This review may contain spoilers if you are not yet caught up in the series. **

Saint Mark's has changed since Pie Vita first set foot on its grounds, months ago. There are many new monsters, her good friend Tomas, and of course, the Master of Saint Mark's, Pell. And while things have calmed down and her life has finally started to be enjoyable... Pie is about to embark on a new job... and the irreversible journey that comes with it...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Savage Saints was another jaw dropping story in the exquisitely crafted Monsters of Saint Mark's series. Pie and Pell share a connection that defies the world around them, and only together will they start to find the answers that they never knew they needed...
Eek! I love this series so much! With each new spellbinding detail, the worlds in this book came alive right in front of my eyes. Pie, Pell and Tomas continue to captivate this story with each of their individual points of view and their parts in unraveling the mystery that is shrouding Saint Mark's.
Pie travels to an entirely new and fascinating world to work with her boyfriends so-called-BFF, Tarq. Pell's true past starts to take shape around him, but it's the time that he spends with Pie that means the most. While Tomas is living it up with his new dragon chimera body when he finds himself a townie girlfriend.
This book absolutely hooked me from the very first page, and I seriously can. not. wait. to find out what comes next from the Monsters of Saint Mark's...
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
This book (this series, really) is absolutely my newest obsession! It is deliciously maddening, delightfully intriguing, and completely effing addictive! I adored Damaged Gods, the first book in the series, and I was really wondering where the story would go in book two. Well, let me tell you… no way could I have ever guessed the path this story would take. This author does an excellent job of giving you just enough clues along the way to let you think you’ll be able to figure out the big picture. But then, just when you think you might actually be able to complete the puzzle, the whole picture changes. This book keeps you guessing every step of the way. Every new discovery comes with at least two new questions.
I spent the entirety of this book either scratching my head trying to figure out what the heck was going on or searching for my fan to cool off from all that good monster lovin. This story and these characters draw you into the magical world of Saint Mark’s so effortlessly. The relationships among the monsters—romantic and otherwise—are both real and relatable. These so-called monsters have all the same hopes and fears and traumas as we all do, and are oftentimes more humane than the actual humans in this story. They just want to be left alone to freely live and love like anyone else. But who knows how much of their lives are still being manipulated by the ancient gods, and in what ways? We do get a lot of questions answered in this book that had been left open in Damaged Gods, but there’s still so much we don’t know. What’s that old saying? You don’t even know what you don’t know? Yeah, that could have been written with this series in mind. And I am so here for it! I seriously cannot recommend this book and this series highly enough, and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book!
* I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All of my opinions are honest and entirely my own.
This book fell flat for me.
I loved the first book but was miffed as to why the end of the first book was wrapped up so fast, like "2 weeks later and this all happened, the end".
That threw me, but I still went on to this book and I'm sad I wasted my one precious monthly audible credit on this book.
This book felt different from the first, for a start it was boring, there was so much chatter about nothing & tedious day to day boringness.
Also, I really dont care about the dragon guy... I cant even remember his name & I finished this book 2 seconds ago, anyway, it might be that the narrator for the dragon had a British accent and that accent is never sexy in audiobooks, but his lines are that of an old man, so it just sounds very "British grandfather reads bedtime story".
The characters didn't even feel the same as the first book and I hate it when the mmc turns into soft dough when he dates the female, he just has no interesting personality.
The "velvet furry ass" & monster penis got old real quick, but I'm always bored by smut & I know authors need to cater to the freaks out there soo there's that.
I also just don't enjoy comedy in books, it just doesn't translate for me, it's like people sending me stupid animal videos that are meant to be funny & I give the obligatory "lol" or laugh emoji to not be rude, but I didn't get close to laughing, that's how I feel when things are meant to be funny in books, I just stare deadpan & I crank up the speed to try make it move along faster.
Anyway, this started off really strong in the first book, it just took a detour into bland domestic life land for me... by the time anything remotely interesting happens, I just don't care anymore because its felt like such a slog to get to that point.
An extra star for having a plot though, thats more than most authors are writing.
Crazy good
These books definitely make you use your thinker. 😂 You are constantly trying to figure things out. Not boring. So invested in this trilogy. I am very glad I bought this. Was still scared to end up in a harem situation. I googled it and it lied lol. So far this is not RH. Why Google lied. Maybe I got it confused with something else. I Google almost all books I am about to read to see if it's RH. Those moments I don't, well I paid for stuff I end up not reading lol. Back in the Day dark meant like evil, horror or just plain bad stuff. Not kinky wow, wow. I mean there was spice but not a buffet of multiple items at the same time. Now if it says Dark romance I feel like it means only spice. Times have changed in the 35 years I've been reading. I am babbling but I like Cross/Huss writing so much I was willing to "risk" it. I knew it said Monster romance but these days that means only spice. And that is a whole can of "worms" I usually don't go into. I get bored. And the spice stuff is repetitive. Even when the can of "worms" spill out. I've been reading a long time. I need my characters to have more to them then just wet pants. I need a great story. Huss has a great mind and there is so much to be interested in besides the spice parts. Did you ever see the picture of a brain being caressed by fingers. Yeah I need that up top before bottom. 😂🤣 I so enjoyed these books so far. Thank You. And I also loves the EOBS. Sometimes it's like my thoughts are being written by someone else.
Great addition to the story buuuut…
I love this author and her writing style. I love the fact that beyond the romance the story and world building is amazing so it all sucks you in and before you know it an hour or two has passed you by in the blink of an eye. If only every author had this power.
With that being said my only gripe about the story is ALL of the main characters lacked basic communication skills… this was frustrating. I felt a lot would have been easily resolved and we would have seen less back and forth and better pacing had certain pieces of info been expressed naturally. A lot of gate keeping going on, a lot! I understand some foreshadowing is needed to build suspense but I do feel that some of the biggest mysteries where all dumped on us at the end which made it hard to focus on the gravity of one over the other… Spoiler example - the imprisoned wood nymphs.. why was there not more clues laid out between Tarq and Pie, why explain it all with Pell in 5 min of seeing him? I didn’t quite understand. But otherwise this series is one of the few that burns itself into my memory and sticks with me for months (hard to do when u have adhd). I just hope the next book is a bit more organized. But it is a great series worth the read and one on the top of my list to look for new releases.
Savage Saints is truly an amazing read! This book has it all, mystery, magic, urban legends, love, kindness, rage, and oh so much more!
This is the second book of the Monsters of Saint Mark's series. If you liked the first book you are going to be head over heels in love with this second book.
I am not going to write you a book report. You have read the blurb and you have had to read Damaged Gods or you will have no clue what is going on in this book.
This book gives you a better glimpse into Tomas and his life. He is human in this book! A hot human at that. Pie and Pell are madly in love and trying to figure out the curse of Saint Mark's. Pie has to work off her debt that now belongs to Turq. Pie is finding out so much more about herself that she didn't even know about. Pell is starting to remember things that he forgot decades ago.
There is such a wonderful new cast of characters that we get to meet and new worlds to explore. This is a very, very scaled-back version of my review as I would totally give away a big secret.
Trust me! You want to read this book. It is AMAZING!
Sooo good and different than other PNR
I love the characters! Pell is grumpy, bored and unsure of why he and Tomas are what appears to be, captives of Saint Marks Sanctuary. There are tombs that have statues on them that identify the tomb belongs to that particular monster. Pell can't see the doors to the tombs, only the caretaker can. The caretaker role is interesting! They must originate from a magical bloodline of Eros! They are the able to appear as human, to come and go into the town for several hours before they do the Cinderella thing and revert back to their monster form and magically sent back to the Sanctuary! This story is so complex and only tidbits of clues are revealed. It feels like the author made the inside of the Sanctuary to have a ton of halls and doors that lead to different periods of history during the time of the Greek Gods. The Gods have woven intricate curses into the Sanctuary and it's monsters. When Pie and her imaginary bird show up, and is tricked into taking over the role of caretaker, will shake things up!
Savage Saints
Savage Saints follows on from Damaged God’s and is set in the Monsters of St Mark’s world. Julie never disappoints and always manages to use her incredible creativity to weave a story that you need we even knew you needed. She is truly talented at intricately pulling together the most wonderful story, adding intrigue, chaos and in this case, humour in her storytelling.
Pie, spell and Tomas evolve in their characters in this story as they each adapt to their new life inside (and out) of St Marks! With lots of magic, a fortunes worth of new guests and a new world for Pie, this story is not one to be missed! It’s told from multiple points of view, which just adds to the mystery and obscurity.
This story is romantic, mysterious and an absolute page turner and I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Such fun!
This book was so fun. From Thomas exploring the world outside Saint Mark's, to Pell remembering his love for being a blacksmith and Pie learning her way through Torq's world and paying off her debt. Every second of this book was packed with mystery, romance, beautiful monsters and whitty banter. Pie and Pell are very much in love and exploring their new found magic. Pie is gaining confidence in herself and her place with Saint Marks. Thomas, my my, I can't wait for the next book! The new monsters of Saint Marks are proving themselves useful, even though Thomas is the only one who understands them.
A fantastic read! Monsters, doors, rings, 10 day work weeks, fireday rules, Queens, Princesses.... Oh my! I am very excited for the next Monsters of Saint Mark's book!
Really Good Read and BE KIND
For those of you who have read many of Julie Huss' books, you probably know she also writes under the name KC Cross. I really enjoyed this book; it has quite a few twists and turns.
The really impressive part was the End of Book Sh*t (EOBS.) Again if you read JA Huss/ KC Cross, you know this is her stream of consciousness observations after finishing writing the book. I read it out loud to my husband. Man, was it impressive, bitches. Her main thesis was BE KIND in this mixed up, f*cked up world we live in. How we all need a family, a camp, a sanctuary. How we all inevitably hate, but recognize when you do and keep working to BE KIND.
My husband said, " I really like that person."
When we're looking for how to deal with all the crap around us, this is a really good idea.
fabulous
Loving the follow up book to Damaged Gods. Pie and Pell’s relationship has blossomed and Tomas has such a different life now he is even dating and Tarq is great too. the world he lives in, well Pie just fits right in and has friends, just like she has always dreamed.
And then!!!
Savage Saints really begins and OMG Julie you are amazing your imagination knows no bounds, and everything changes. The different worlds and the magic that finds them.
This book is so different and unique. Expect the unexpected and you won’t be disappointed. Such a powerful story with an awesome ending, that promises more to come. I can’t wait for the next book.
I loved it.
Oh Pie. You have come so far since we met you. It took you a bit to find your confidence and I am not sure you still believe in yourself; but I think that's the human in her.
Sigh.
Pell is so adorable as a love struck monster.
And Tomas. Well he was quite unexpected surprise in this book.
Book 2 does not disappoint. Pie having to go to work in a strange world is the best thing to happen. We watch her step into her power and find friends, while Pell also has to grapple with the fact that maybe he isn't just a helpless caretaker while monsters roam the place.
I really do love this series. It's fun, witty and fascinating. It brings some much needed levity the world that can some times be too serious. Another must read by the magical brain of JA Huss.
Our author gives us this snippet: Savage Saints is a fun, romantic romp through an ancient curse. Pell (our Hero) learns to love pants and his heroine, Pie learns to love magic...once she figures out HOW to use it. Each of the main characters lead separate lives during the day, giving them the opportunity to mull over the mysteries/curse consuming their thoughts. I love reading the multiple points of view as each of the main characters try to figure out how the past influences their present and what's real or just a dream!
KC Cross aka JA Huss astounds me with her intricate weaving of details that inevitably lead to all the "WOW" and "AHA" moments in her stories! Can't wait to see how this one ends!
Savage Saints by K.C. Kross aka J.A. Huss is a book two in the Monsters of St. Marks. I was happy to see Pie and Pell again trying to be in a relationship like “normal” people. Yet, who gets to define “normal”. Then we Tomas trying to navigate beyond the gates of St. Marks. So much humor surrounding his quest to explore this new world. Learning to drive and date were some of my favorites from his POV. I decided not to try to figure out where this book was going and just enjoy the ride. Basically, I thought “Let Julie take the wheel” and she knows how to navigate some remarkable tales. What I discovered was another fabulous read by K.C. Kross aka J.A. Huss that contains magic, mystery, humor, and steaminess that Julie weaves as her own type of magic. I cannot wait for the third book.
The creativity of this author amazes me.
I love JA Huss books, so I read KC Cross books. They blow my mind. My norm is not fantasy/paranormal/sci-fi/you name it genres. That's my husband's interest. But once again, I enjoyed this book. I regret not re-reading/listening to the first book again. It took a bit for my memory to be jogged regarding what happened before. At different times, it reminds me CS Lewis and then I'm thinking Monsters Inc. LOL It's a crazy ride for me. These characters make me laugh. Then I'm so engrossed with what's happening that I'm irritated when interrupted. I absolutely loved the ending. I can't wait to see what happens next in this world.
*I read this book through the Kindle Unlimited program.
