There’s a prominent threat on the block… and he might just be sharing Stormy Morgan’s roof.

She’s a new witch but she has a big problem… and it talks. Her new roommate Krankle may look cute but he’s a huge pain in her posterior. He’s also hiding something. Before she can focus on that, however, the unthinkable happens.
On the highway leading out of town, three vehicles are involved in an accident. One belongs to Harold Lautner, the former head of the senior center who went missing months before. He was presumed dead in a hunting accident, but now the truck he was driving at the time he fell off the face of the earth is front and center… and emergency crews say there’s nobody to save inside.

Hunter Ryan, Stormy’s boyfriend and a police officer in Shadow Hills, is chasing lead after lead but they’re going nowhere… and then things get worse.
A magical shadow, the type Stormy isn’t ready to fight, is taking over the town. The Winchester witches, who are eager to help, can’t offer much in the way of aid because their magic is being affected by the shadow. That leaves Stormy to solve things, and she has no idea how to do it.

Stormy is eager to learn but the curve is steep. Alone, she knows she will fail. That means her new friends have to pitch in and help … including Krankle.
Someone is lying. Someone is playing games. The answer to the question might be closer than it seems.

Stormy has a fight on her hands. Will she survive long enough to answer all the questions, or is she doomed to disappointment… and death?

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Uhm... Ehh... I'm not a fan.

I really don't feel like getting on the train with the other series that keep being referenced in this series. The never ending list of guest stars from other books is ridiculously (too) long and makes this series, on its own, weaker and weaker. Stormy and Hunter are progressing slowly as heck. Both their relationship AND Stormy's magic take some tiny fragment of a step forward in each book, but that's all.

It's so excruciatingly slow I'm getting ready to tear my hair out.

Also, the cat not being a cat but some magical being that mostly talks about pooping in shoes...
Ok, it was fun. For five minutes. Then it was tedious and became even more repetitive than grandpa using Stormy's toilet every day.

Just like Stormy I ended up mourning the kitten and it's potential as a "normal" witch familiar while the "gnome shifter" was mainly annoying, the total opposite of charming, and not very useful at all.

Like what was the point of him? What was the point of him watching crappy TV shows and demanding tuna all the way through this book? It was completely empty blather. It had nothing to do with the plot. Nothing to do with character development. Nothing but juvenile poop jokes.

I like the cosy parts of this series, I really do, but this book didn't give me much of substance.

At all.

I suspect maybe more was actually said about bacon and a certain man's love for it than was said about actual magic. And Stormy is getting more and more frustrating in her total lack of magical development. She doesn't even seem all that interested in learning. She's not even trying. She's just ... plodding along like a fish in this aquarium of a story where other characters from other books swoop in and somehow have more characterisation within five minutes than Stormy has had within four books.

I'm not sure I'll come back for book 5.

Every now and then, I return to one of Amanda M. Lee’s series and pick up where I last left off. I started the Two Broomsticks Gas & Grill Witch series in 2021 and read the first three installments that year before setting the rest aside. Yearning for something familiar, I picked up the fourth installment a week or so ago.

When I started the series, I liked the premise: small town girl (main character Stormy Morgan) goes out into the world, writes a great book, achieves some fame, and then is forced to return to her roots in Shadow Hills after her second book tanks. In fact, there is a nod to this very scenario in book 4, when a side character recommends to Stormy that she should write a new book with that exact plot. It’s the kind of humor you’ll find in Lee’s books, along with much snark and running gags. (Some running gags are awesome; some are tiresome — but that’s certainly subjective.)

Book 4, Follow the Crumbs, finds Stormy still learning about her witchy powers — which she seems to tap into effortlessly, still goo-goo over her rediscovered romance with her high-school-sweetheart-turned-town-cop Hunter, and still working at the family diner for her crusty grandfather. New this time around is a talking cat (Krankle) who sings Nickelback, demands tuna, and threatens to poop in shoes. He’s also not a cat. I’ll just leave that right there.

This book was a comfort read. I always know what to expect from author Lee, and although she’ll introduce all kinds of magical characters (I love the diversity), I know she won’t stray too far from reader expectations. She will also bring in main characters from her other series as “special guests” — something I mostly tend to like. I do wish, however, for this series, she would dial back on Aunt Tillie and the Winchester Witches from her Wicked Witches of the Midwest Mystery series. I really want more of Stormy and HER world, and less of the witches from the neighboring town of Hemlock Cove and THEIR world.

This installment brought Stormy some satisfaction in the form of sweet revenge against a past high school bully (that will come back to bite her, I’m sure), as well as a lovely moment when her best friend reveals a personal secret publicly and receives surprising support. The sweet revenge and lovely moment go hand-in-hand and are made of the fantasies we all imagine of karma in action.

Overall, Follow the Crumbs was entertaining. The mystery in this installment fell somewhat into the background for me — I think because the characters (known and new) took such center stage. Things got a little saccharin-sweet for my taste at times when Stormy and Hunter professed their love for one another (think Bay Winchester and her fiancé Landon from the other aforementioned witch series), but if you can get past that, you’ll appreciate some of the funnier moments between the two lovebirds.

The ending left loose ends (on purpose), and there are currently nine books in the series. I’m sure I’ll return to Shadow Hills at some point to find out what happens to Stormy…and her “cat.”

better then the first three, but that not saying much

Honestly I’m tired of do the same review over and over for this series. Yes it was better then the first three books, but it still wasn’t good. There were entirely too many plot holes, lack of character development and the mystery and paranormal aspect was barely there. What witchy powers were used were poor. Supposedly the Winchesters are all fairly strong powerhouses, and together even more so, yet here they are all second fiddle to Stormy, a brand new practitioner. Even if they needed magic coming from Stormy’s genetic power base, then why wouldn’t they have brought in her great-grandmother, a friend to Tillie Winchester, who was missing.

Honestly it seemed like it was just an excuse to brandish more story about the Winchesters, and the upcoming marriage of Bay and Landon. Plus of course the birth of the next generation of Winchester witches, which will of course occur just as Bay and Landon are to be married. Causing all sorts of hijinks that will suddenly all work out in the end, allowing them an amazing marriage and Clove to have her child. Hopefully the next generation child wont be as much of a whiny sad excuse of a person as her mother or any of her aunts.

If magic was real in our world, as it’s described in these novels, I would hope I wouldn’t get any of it, because each these practitioner’s personalities that has it, are incredibly vapid and self-absorbed. What’s the point of giving them something to improve the world. They obviously don’t and won’t use it that way.

Don’t waste your time, money or effort in reading this series. This writer started with some substance and worth in some of her other series, but now it is more about publishing as much as she can instead of producing something of quality. Writers like this don’t deserve a following, and there are too many good writers with something to say that deserve to be read instead.

One thing I can say about this series is the boyfriend/girlfriend pairs kiss and touch a lot and anyone around them constantly talks about how they’re nauseous or “Stop or I’ll puke”. It gets tiring sometimes.

And Stormy pulling away from Hunter because she's afraid she'll hurt him is just pulling apart their relationship. Get over it! He wants you for you no matter what obstacles. He's an adult and capable of making his own decisions.

And the gnome cat - don't let him tell you what to do! Kick his butt out or do a spell where he has no voice or where it's quiet. And another thing, he was completely useless. Like seriously.

I wish there’d been more displays of magic. I’m glad the Winchesters were pulled into this one because I like that family. I’m also glad Clove wasn’t in in because she’s a kvetch.

I for one am glad that author Amanda M. Lee was not finished with the 'Two Broomstick Gas & Grill Witch' series. By the way 'Follow the Crumbs' book #4 in the series ended, it looks Lee has at least another amazing tale for us to wait on with baited breath.

In 'Follow the Crumbs' there is another threat about and Stormy will have to call on some old friends and make some new ones to come out the other side unscathed.

Stormy being a new witch gets her first cat and the cat is a huge problem. What she thought was a cute cuddly kitten quickly becomes a big pain in bottom. He's demanding, cranky when not fed name brand tuna, and is hiding something from Stormy. Did I mention he can talk and his name Krankle?

Harold has been missing for 6 months, assumed to be murdered by Cliff in the previous installment. However, his truck shows up on the highway near his old hunting cabin unattended. In the 3 car accident Ray & Connie
are injured as well as a car carrying 2 teen couples.

Hunter, Stormy's boyfriend the Sheriff of Shadow Hill is tasked with solving the return of Harold's unattended truck and what caused the accident. However, while he is out chasing leads he is called back to the scene of the accident to find Ray's body. Now he has to figure out how Ray got out of the hospital and Bach to the scene of the accident and ends up dead.

As things get progressively worse, Stormy calls in the Winchester witches to land a helping hand to solve this magical situation.

If you're anything like me, you want more deets. Sorry I not every review can be full of spoilers. Your just going have to read. Free on Kindle Unlimited!!!!

Stormy needs the help.of the Winchesters to solve a mysterious car crash.

There's a major car crash in town ,out near the woods. The main car involved belongs to Harold, who was thought to have been killed by Craig ( see previous book) his car when inspected, was found to be empty, the other two cars involved in the crash came off badly, all the passengers needing hospitalization. One car held an elderly couple Free and his wife, The other carried four teenagers, two boys he two girls all their injuries were serious but they were all expected to make a full recovery. That is untill a few days later when Fred's body is found in the woods by the crash site, he's dead with no clue to his he died of his he got from the hospital to.the woods. So there's two mysteries to be solved, how did potential.dead man's car end up in a crash and how did one of the victims from that crash subsequent spread at the side of the road. Tillie starts hanging round convinced she can get to.the bottom of things and resolve the situation, obviously with Tillie involved things don't quite go to plan but it allows Stormy to spend time with Bay and Landon with whom she he Hunter are developing a true friendship. Things then tie a.turn for the worse requiring all the Winchesters to ride to the rescue. But t the end of the st it will be up to Stormy to resolve things. As ever an enjoyable read.

Snarky good fun!

I enjoyed the mystery this time as much as reconnecting with favorite characters. I didn't even come close to figuring out "who done it", this time.
No spoilers.
It was especially fun to have the Winchester witches involved! Aunt Tillie is always a hoot, and having her disappear with Kankle, (it really is a dumb name for a cat), was a good way to make everyone crazy. She's trouble when you know what she's up to.
When you don't... look out!
This time dealing with a shadow threat is all on Stormy. There is a magic dampening field over their town, and only Stormy's magic is working.
She's not at all confident she will be enough when push comes to shove.
That's the question; will her magic get the job done without hurting any of her friends, or more importantly, the man she loves?
And, can she do what has to be done and live with herself after?
Read the book and find out for yourself!
If you have been reading this series, you already know how good it is.
If you haven't, be sure to start with the first book and read them in order.
Have fun if you are just discovering this author!

extraordinarily entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series

This is an extraordinarily entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and a spectacular storyline. Stormy is a witch who lives in a small town in Michigan. After high school she went off to college wrote a book became quite a famous with a second book it was a flop and tried for a couple more years she was getting her fame. After a while she finally returned home to work and her family‘s local restaurant. She soon begins realizing that she is a witch and starts learning how to use her powers. She got back together with her high school sweetheart who is the local sheriff. And he’s made friends with people around the area. In this book we get a crossover event with Winchester witches and a few other characters from Hemlock Cove they investigate weird things going on in Stormytown. Read on and find out all the entertaining hijinks a stormy the Winchester witches including aunt Tilly and all the other weird things going on. Check it out.

Slightly underwhelmed

Stormy is doing her usual thing when suddenly her kitten starts talking. Declaring that he's a gnome shifter, called Krankle, sent from another plane to be her familar, he starts making demands, branded tuna and control of the TV, and causing havoc when he doesn't get his own way.

Hunter's not as phased by the turn of events as Stormy expected but he's also pretty sure that Krankle isn't telling the whole truth when he starts claiming that he doesn't know what is coming but that Stormy will need him to defeat it.

A strange multi vehicle accident which involves the missing, presumed dead, Harold Lautner's car takes precedence over the couple's cat issues, however. With no means of explaining how Harold's car became involved with no driver anywhere to be found Hunter calls on Terry and Landon for investigative help, which brings Bay, and Aunt Tillie, alongside to help Stormy figure out what on earth is going on.

Book 4 of the series starts a little slow, but once it picked up, I was able to get into it. Like the other books in the series, this is not a literary read but very light. I love reading this series in between heavy historical fiction novels. A great way to lighten the mood and change the pace.

The strongest aspect of Lee's novels in this series is her use of characterization. I like how the interactions and dialogue are pretty real and nuanced.

One of the shortcomings of the previous novels in the series is their lack of mystery and magic, as the series title suggests that these elements would be more prominent. Mystery and magic are more present in book 4 than it's predecessors. But, I feel this cozy mystery series can easily fall into the romance bucket.

I do wish that Lee's novels were a little more atmospheric. I feel that this could've made book 4 stronger.

Another light, entertaining read for the books.

Fun!

Well, this was certainly an interesting ride, and the very first chapter had me laughing out loud! Stormy has a lot to deal with, not least of which is her burgeoning power; it's a good thing the Winchesters are available for assistance since her great-grandmother is useless, as is her supposed familiar/cat/gnome. I especially appreciate Stormy's and Hunter's relationship; it's perfectly logical and appropriate for him to be protective in potentially hazard situations that are new to both of them, but he's very supportive. I missed Sebastian, another character I just love, because he was little more than a cameo player this time. The mysteries hold the reader's attention, and the introduction of unusual beings is quite imaginative. I look forward to Phoebe and Cliff receiving their just desserts and to my continued enjoyment of this series.

This is probably the 2nd best of the series..and it's the 4th of the series, so far.. The boyfriend is well on his way to becoming a controller...he wants his girlfriend to call hm "several times a day" so he can keep track of her....and he's a cop in a small village. No matter that she is a witch who just discovered she's a witch, and she doesn't know what her powers are much less how to control them yet. The four books take place in about a 1 -2 month period after Stormy (yest, that is her name) moves back to town. The token gay guy is way over the top...he acts more like a 4-year old and pouts a lot... The cop is her ex-boyfriend, she works for her grandfather...everyone is so busy making wise-cracks its a wonder the story ever unfolds...which is why, maybe, only about 2 months have unfold since the first book.

So good!

Stormy and Hunter are magical together. They just fit one another so well. It's truly a delight to read their stories. I love the interaction between this series and the Hemlock cove series. It feels very natural for Hunter to seek out Cheif Terry's advice on police matters and the friendship that is developing between Stormy and Bay is fun to watch. I really like the storyline with Hunter and Stormy too. They have rekindled their romance and make a believable couple. She's very insecure at times, which seems natural given her past, and he's her biggest supporter along with trying to get past his abusive father's history with the town. I can't wait for more stories!

Fast favourite

Another great instalment in what is fast becoming a favourite series from this author. The main characters, Stormy and Hunter are really well rounded and relatable, only in non-magical ways, of course!’. In this book they face an enemy only Stormy can vanquish, but as a new witch, she seeks help from the Hemlock Cove gang. I love having the Winchesters visit, all the crossovers are awesome, but the Two Broomsticks gang seem more relaxed, mature, and it creates a different, yet equally enjoyable, vibe. Of course they have their quirks, who doesn’t? That’s what makes it fun.

Bad cop, no donut!

I was surprised when Hunter let Stormy take the magic books from the dead guy's house, and and more so when Landon didn't either. When I realized that some cleaner was going to empty the entire contents into a dumpster, I felt a bit better. Once it came out that there was yet another witch family in town, why they didn't go immediately to Stormy's great grandmother for more information I do not know. She seems a highly under used resource. She should be training Stormy if she's so psyched that the talent has shown up again, or at very least explaining things.
I want t to say that I loved the scene by the bonfire more than anything I have read this year!

Good read

Enjoyable and a lot of Winchester's visiting. Nice bit of Sebastian at bonfire night. I know a lot of people like Krankle but it was difficult for me getting through the first few chapters because I found him too annoying. The poop stuff was more than I wanted to deal with, glad that eased up further in the book and liked him better in the end.
All in all an entertaining read and would recommend it. I find all of her books worth reading as well as by her Lily Harper Hart name.

Love ! Love! Love!

I am so happy that I found these books . The author writes in a way that lets you feel like you are right there with them. I absolutely love that. And my heart flipped a little (and not because of covid that has me breathless and so sick) when I saw how many books she has written. My only problem now is ( besides covid) is I don't know what series to start . Thank you Amanda M Lee for sharing your stories with me. Peggy Longfellow

Witches

Stormy and Hunter have to come together to figure out what in the world is going on. There’s been a huge accident but nobody knows what caused it and nobody knows what is going on with a dead man’s truck being the cause of the accident. They and Landon and all of the witches from hemlock cove are there. Everybody’s trying to help everybody. These books were pretty good I’ve enjoyed all of them I can’t wait for the next one to come out which will be five going to read about Bay’s and Landon’s wedding now.. Amanda Lee is really good all of her books are.

Hate is a four letter word

The scene at the bonfire when everyone turned on Phoebe made me very uncomfortable. Yes, she was a mean person, but people aren’t born mean. I felt like I was going to read in the next chapter that Phoebe had killed herself. With all the bullying going on today, I was really hoping for a happier ending with Phoebe. Like maybe Stormy would find out that something bad had happened to Phoebe during her childhood and would then come to her defense. I felt sorry for Phoebe.

Hard work

I found books one and two in this series to be easy reading, the story flowed and the characters were likeable. The third book was more difficult. This book felt a bit like walking through treacle. For me it lacked the ease of flow which most books by the author have.

This book brings Stormy and Hunter together with the Winchesters and add in a guest appearance from Poet and Raven from the Mystic Caravan series.

All of my favorite characters

There are many amazing things about this book. First, it has a fabulous author! All of Amanda's series make me laugh and I love the crossovers. This one has great characters and I want most of them.to be my friends IRL. Since I do not have the power to animate them from the pages I will have to continue to enjoy them, and their relationships in the books. The only request I.would make to Amanda is WRITE FASTER!! 😁

Hellcat?

Another good story. Enjoyed every minute. My only critique would be Stormy's great-grandmother. She needs to play a bigger part with Stormy. She should be the mentor more that Bay. Its would be great to see her learn from the drama. It would also be good to have Alice & Sebastian not get lost in the appearance of the Winchesters. These are really good characters that could become more substantial to the storyline.

Stormy comes into her powers.

What a great story, Stormy and Hunter are forced into a huge mystery of a bizarre car accident and have to rely on a lot of help from other characters in Amanda Lee books including a lot of Bay, Landon and Aunt Tillie along with Poet and Raven. Loved the development of characters and Stormy's powers. The storyline included a chunk which was great and the mystery of the cat is never explained, can't wait for the next book.

Storey’s cute little kitten turns out to be not a cat after all. He can talk but won’t tell her why he is there except to say he is her familiar and she will need him someday. Then a road traffic accident happens involving the pick up of a man who went missing a year ago and a husband and wife. Then the body of the man in the car is found dead in the woods near the accident. But how did he get there from the hospital? Another good mystery.

Fun series!

Another magical spot in Michigan's lower Peninsula. Stormy is coming to terms with her magic. The appearance of the Winchester witches and a fact finding call to the circus makes it fun. The plot and subplots move quickly, making it hard to put the book down. I can't wait to see Stormy' s growth as a witch.

Great Balls of Fire

An accident happens near Stormy's town and Hunter goes to investigate. Harold's truck is part of the accident but is empty and Harold has been missing for months.

Throw in a shadow, the Winchesters from Hemlock Cove, and a talking cat to get a mystery that will keep you guessing.

Eagerly awaiting the next book!

Great addition

This was a great addition to the series. We learn a little more about Stormy and her power. I love how the Sebastian situation occurred. Really curious about the Krankle situation. The goods guys got a lot of wins on this book. Things are building for Stormy. Looking forward to next book.
