At eighteen, Lily Bloom made a promise on her mother’s deathbed...to care for her two younger sisters and keep them together at all costs. So she did the only thing available to her to achieve that goal, she married the owner of the flower shop she worked at part-time. Now a widow at just thirty-one, she’s made a name for herself and plans on keeping it. Men? The last one she had was a necessity. The next? Nah, not worth it.
Zane Wolfe is a single father who had to cut his military career short when his ex decided parenting wasn’t for her. With no choice in the matter and not about to give his child up, he moved back home to start his own business and get the help of his family to give his daughter the life she deserved. Women? He has no time or need for them other than a physical release. Relationships? Been there, done that, and not crazy enough to try again...or is he?
Lily's sisters kept egging her on to hook up with some guy and in particular Zane after she ends up hiring him as a contractor. She's a virgin and keeps thinking about how she wants to get it over with. I would think she'd want her first to be special after waiting so long. All Zane is looking for is a good time after being burned by his ex. He's afraid of Lily getting too close to his daughter Willow, but isn't hard not to fall for the precocious little girl and it's not like they'll never see each other living in the same town. There were a lot of communication issues between them in this book. Lily has to deal with how the town thinks she's a gold digger who went after a sugar daddy even though the majority of her success was her own and her younger sisters. I don't blame her for making the choice she did when she worried about losing them to foster care after mother died. I love the businesses Lily, Poppy, and Rose created.

Wow, what a beautiful first book in the series by Natalie Ann. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. What Lily did for her younger sisters was heart breaking and life changing. After Lily put everyone first, she finally had a chance at love. Lily became a successful businesswoman while helping her sisters in their businesses. Zane became a single father after his ex left his infant daughter with his family. Zane left his military career and worked as a contractor. Zane is fiercely protective of his young daughter. I read this book in one evening. I could not put it down. It was story of 2 people who had gone through so much finding each other and love.
The first book of a new series by Natalie Ann. Sisters, Lily, Poppy and Rose have a thriving business that they've built from the ground up, Lily is the oldest and marries a man to keep the sisters together when their mother dies suddenly. Years later her husband dies and she reconnects with Zane who she knew in high school. Zane is a single father, who adores his four-year old daughter. This story brings out the best in both of them as they overcome trust, misunderstandings with love. This a second chance love story with two very likeable characters with a bit of rags to riches story.
This is a new series for Natalie Ann and it was a great read. I loved Lily and Zane’s story. I adored Willow!! I would love to see a second generation book about her. She brought so much character to the story. The book was a sweet story. Lily and Zane both do what it takes to take care of their family. That makes them so alike. It was supposed to be a friends with benefits only relationship but it turned into a great love. Once again Natalie Ann shows why she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
What an incredibly beautiful story of the love between a sister and her siblings. Lily raised her two younger sisters after her mother's death due to a hit and run driver. Lily marries a man old enough to be her father to make sure her sisters don't wind up in the system. This story is so beautiful and so well written and I can't wait to get the next one in the series. I had a problem putting this down because I wanted to keep reading but my eyes were screaming at me to put it down. This is one you wont be disappointed in. I rated this with 5 stars.
Lily is a strong, independent and misunderstood woman. She has gone through so much to raise her sisters and start a business from scratch. Zane the stubborn, independent, single father who is determined to raise his daughter, build a business and do it all without any help. Both of them are so persistent that they will never depend nor lean on anyone. Such a heartwarming story to see these two work toward a relationship they never intended and fall in love. Will their pasts bring them together or break them up? A great start to this series.
I just couldn’t get into it. This was my first book of someone telling a story vs POV. Not sure what the proper term is for that. I don’t feel that connection to the characters and I didn’t see how in the world these two fell in love with the little detail that was given and conversations. I feel like this book focused so much on their back story and the bad things that happened to them. I feel this had so much potential because I love me an independent woman and a plus she’s her own billionaire!
Didn’t feel this story at all! I loved the FMC beginning story, it had potential but the romance storyline fell flat sooo much. The characters had zero chemistry and the lack of communication was blah. Also not writing in their POV really made it a struggle to read because you had no idea whose thoughts were whose. Also the “problems” that popped up literally were resolved as quickly as they came without any sort of build up. Their relationship (if you would call it that) had no grit and I think it would have if it would have been POV writing instead of 3rd person.
Repatitve in parts and couldnt connect emotionally
I liked the general idea of this story and plot but I coconnect emotionally. I don't know if it's the 3rd person writing that made it hard for me as I do prefer 1st person narration, but I have read enough 3rd person books that did not feel so ..IDK disconnected emotionally for me. Also a lot of repetitive descriptions of Lily's life with her late husband that were redundant and boring.
Lily and Nate's story is the first book in a new series by Natalie Ann. It's been years since they knew each other in high school and a lifetime worth of secrets that they each keep. Lily struggles to learn to love and Nate must learn to trust. It might take some hurt feelings, but love wins in the end.
Pretty good story, virgin still at 30+, married for convience at 18 when her mom died and she was left to take of of her 2 sisters. She (Lily) knew Zane from school, but was several years behind him and now he has a little girl whose mother didn't want that life anymore. So out of the military and raising his 4 year old daughter. Slow reading for me. HEA
This story had a lot of potential and a great basic premise so I enjoyed it as the plot was quite good. The main issues with the book were sometimes the dialogue and scenes felt someone stilted and unnatural. In my opinion this is something authors get better at with time so I’ve decided to keep on giving the books a chance.
This book was about 20 chapters too long. Lots of repetition and the couple really was not very loving with one another. Long on words and short on swoon worthy anything.
The first book in a new series by Natalie Ann and once again it’s a wonderful story. After the death of her mother and barely an adult herself, Lily does what she has to to keep her family together. Zane becomes a single parent when his ex leaves his daughter with his parents. His career in the army is now over. This is a heart warming story about two people who made sacrifices for those they love to ultimately finding their own HEA.
