Dragon Treasure

Rate this book
A Shadowed Dreams Erotic Romance

In a post-apocalyptic world where the human and fae worlds have merged and technology is fueled by magic, Tania is a thief who trusts in little except her abilities, her cog mare, and the hard coin that comes with a score. When she “acquires” directions to a great treasure supposedly protected by a dragon, the lure is too great to ignore. She will travel to the formidable northern mountains, help herself to a bit of plunder, and be comfortably settled in her winter retreat long before foul weather makes the passes into the south close.

Besides, dragons aren’t real. Or so she believed.

Through the heart of a monastery, she discovers corruption, riches, and a monster determined to keep her as his most precious treasure despite adversaries to his claim. She must decide if she can trust a beast who is no prince.

Beware, there are no dragon shifters in this story. This is a monster romance. The dragon, while capable of increasing his size and structure to a battle form, remains a dragon even when in a smaller, more bi-pedal form. May include some darkish themes and horror elements not suited for everyone.

How I wished my D and D campaigns had gone

I’m not even kidding. I always played a rogue, and always wanted some sweeping romance to go along with my epic romance. Instead I got a guy who was open about his distrust for my gender (female) even as he always, ALWAYS played a half elf bard. A FEMALE ONE!

If flames are shooting out of my head right now please blame that man-child.

There was no seductive ice dragons with knotty appendages— no, instead there was a guy named Murph who once sat and argued with the woman-hating half elf lady bard about what amount of damage magic missiles did, a die three or a die four. It went on for at least two hours— I checked out after the first hour and a half and made a 7-11 run to get some heart burn nachos and also so I could privately *really* question my choices on how I was spending my Saturday nights.

So don’t be like me, and read this instead. Here you’ll actually *get* huge romance from huge males who wanna monster love you up, proper. Here you have the clever thief, thinking she’s gonna steal from the dragon horde. Here you have the protective beast mate, determined to protect his woman at all costs, even if he has to literally collar her to do so. Here there are no sadistic DMs who try to constantly murder your poor little halfling rogue and who only give you fifteen extra experience points for flashing your rogue goodies at that ranger to convince him to lead your party out of the Under Halls.

Read this instead, it’s a MUCH better use of your time, I promise!

And they were die 3, Murph, you complete jack wagon.

This was great I do love this author’s inhuman males and imagination and she really pulls that out of the bag here. Instead of a dragon that shapeshifts into a more humanoid appearance here, the dragon just becomes smaller but he’s still a dragon and I found that strangely compelling. Genre wise this reads a bit like fantasy post-apocalyptic steampunk so a bit of a mish mash. I especially liked the fact that our heroine Tania is a thirty-six old thief she’s also a bit of an opportunist which I found refreshing.

It’s during her latest daring heist that she finds herself coming to the attention of an Ice dragon something she didn’t believe in and this dragon upon scenting Tania decides she’s his mate. It’s all very primal and instinctive on his part and Tania is more than happy to indulge not that she’s given much choice. She then steals away with some of his precious hoard totally enraging him.

Drathnor has been alone for a long time he lives separate from his brethren rejecting their ways when it comes to taking a mate. He doesn’t want to be one of many or give away his treasure to a female as tradition dictates he wants one of his own a precious jewel as the pinnacle of his hoard.
Matehood snaps the bonds into place instantly for him his life force now tethered to hers but Tania is going to need a bit more convincing and training to understand just what their bond entails.
There are also strange things afoot the monastery under which he nests and is now temporarily residing has a strange foul taint one that spells unknown dangers and Drathnor is determined not to allow anything to harm his small precious human mate.

This was erotic and sexy and very different I loved the primal aspects of the mating and loved how protective and possessive Drathnor was towards Talia. As well as the spice this had a decent storyline and I could feel the developing bond click right into place. Overall this was a very enjoyable and unique experience. It has magic and priests and mages and a real dragon it was also well written dual POV and highly imaginative. I definitely recommend this if you want to read something a bit different.

DNF at 45%

This author is usually my favourite. The world building was interesting, as usual, and the plot as well. But this time, I just couldn't continue reading.

1. The beginning especially seemed rather ... bogged down by extra stuff? Rambling and confusing perhaps? I don't know.
2. I still barely know the hero, even with his POV chapters.
3. They were about to go into another bout of hate-sex and I'm just totally MEH about that.

I'm not really in the mood to slog through more rambling and hate-sex to get to the good parts where she invariably ends up saving his arse.

DNF. Really hate the guy’s attitude of using bondage and sex to “teach her” about her place after they bonded (aka non consensual sex). This guy must have something against a fucking conversation. 🙄

Sanders is always fearless when it comes to true monsters as lovers and this book was no exception. I enjoyed the large amount of spice in this book and the initial meeting of the MCs. The MCs were well matched and each had a large helping of commitment issues.
I thought the overarching plot line was interesting, but not as well fleshed out as I would have preferred. I understood very little about the goddess the temple was dedicated, or the evil forces in the book. More detail would have gone a long way.
I would have liked more details regarding what it’s like to be a dragon including social structure, life span, other dragon types that are mentioned briefly, and any ruling class.

I dnf’d this book right after their first encounter with each other. 😭
I’m sorry, y’all. I kept picturing her boning a dude that looks like Godzilla, first of all. Like, he straight up looks like a lizard. Not for me. I need more humanoid features in my monsters. I hate to gatekeep myself like that because I’m all about choices generally. But I can’t help it.
Second thing is I didn’t like the prose.

I feel kind of bad for not liking this book, but it is what it is. I’d try another one of this author’s books. That’s why I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 2.

@authorSJSanders1980 let's talk about Dragon Treasure: This possessed priest is uber-creepy and well written. The dagrihal spawn crawling up her throat was darkly fantastic and unexpected. This was such a great book. I cannot wait for the rest of the series. The darker the better!

Uh yeah baby !!! I feel in my soul I’ll love this book , come on the guy is a dragon and more cool is that he doesn’t turn into a human!! Ok ok I know I have weird tastes but what can I do ? I’m soooo fucking curious hahahaha and better yet it’s from one of my favorite authors, I have never read a book of S.J Sanders that I haven’t loved , she’s just soooooooo absurdly good with all kind of different species and her standalones? Are masterpieces.

Well this is interesting, so the technology of the world is fueled by magic ? Wondrous ! Woah she has a robot horse ? Sooooo cool !! Damn I’m really intrigued with the world building of this book , looks like the Fae world and human world merged together, so everyone lives in the same world now , yeah looks terrible dangerous hahaha. Ok apparently our guy can take a almost normal size , thank Goddess because he obviously can’t shift into a human and our girl for real couldn’t be fucked by a enormous dragon , you know …the size difference was going to be too big hahaha .

Ok my greatest curiosity now is … he’s a biped or a quadruple? Hahahaha yeah I’m weird like this , but seriously!!! I’m really, REALLY curious, woah his precum is green ? Damn this is pretty cool , ok so he has too forms , the one he’s of almost normal size and his guardian size , this one i thing is the bigger size of a dragon , but I’m still struggling to known he’s a dragon that walks upright like a human ? Or he’s a quadruple? Seriously this is eating my mind !!

He needed her. His cock wept precum meant to ease his mate’s reception of his breeding lance. Her absence caused him nothing but pain and misery until his mind called out to her in a fit of anger and despair. He bellowed for her, begged her to come to him, the brassy notes of his roars filling his cave, entreating his mate—whose scent teased him from somewhere nearby the entrance of his cave—to enter. His calls went ignored. When hours of pain reduced his mind to little more than a whirling chaos, it was all that remained: confusion and despair that his mate was not with him and mounting fury at what had to be her rejection. Never before had he wanted another for his own, and she rejected him! Him!

Ok easy big boy ,she doesn’t even know you’re calling for her, poor guy , mates really fucks with someone’s mind but makes sense his calling for her this way , if she was a female dragon she obviously could listen to this mating call , but our girl is human so Im pretty sure that if she’s not near she wouldn’t listen , and even if she listen a roar of a dragon could really scary the hell out of her , but I understand him , he’s not really rationalizing right now it’s just everything about instincts, and he’s pretty mad because he thinks his female doesn’t want him , yeah tell me about preconceived ideias .

Ok he said when he walks his cock touch his belly … so he’s a quadruple right ? Makes sense you know hahahaha yeah , yeah I’m going crazy trying to figure out how he is .OMG I don’t know if I laugh of their first encounter or if I’m worried hahahaha seriously he’s absolutely lost to the mating frenzy, and his thoughts are damn funny . Well my greatest curiosity was finally sated hahaha when he’s in his “normal” size he’s biped , so … it’s like a a really big man-dragon … fuck ! It’s sooooo hot . Ok he is HOT but the sex ? Is sooooooooo damn hot too !! He’s absolutely lost in the mating frenzy, but is still mindful of her , like some deep instinct .

Although his head was completely reptilian, with the standard dragon features from horns to tapered muzzle and gracefully arched neck, the pale scales looked smoother and more delicate along his face than the aggressive armoring in his larger form. Even the horns on his head were proportionally shorter, reduced to only a prominent single pair and several long, thick spines that that extended from the back of his jaw that were connected by a loose webbing. They were nothing like the intimidating crown of horns that he had worn when he was larger. Even his torso had a more humanoid structure to it in his more compact size. She wasn’t sure which form could be called his “true” form, since the other had seemed more “dragony” to her. This one seemed fashioned in a way that was more bipedal, although his feet terminated in a way that was of a predator built for speed. Even on two legs, he would be fast with the counterbalance of his tail. All sharp angles and broad muscles covered in textured scales, his eight-foot frame was just shy of monstrous.

Yeah I’ll add how she described him , because I had a really HARD time trying to put things together hahaha sorry , not sorry . Damn in his vision they’re mated so he was relaxed enough to fall asleep after their really hot wild sex , but our girl doesn’t see it like this because… duh she’s not a dragon so she doesn’t know their way, and guess what ? Yeah she still wants to rob him hahahaha genial uh ? Well our girl says his not even humanoid…. Aaaaaaaaah I’m having a really hard time putting his image together, it’s time for some Pinterest searching , and damn !! If I didn’t find some really hot arts that made sense to her description of our big guy …just delicious hahaha.

“Don’t fuck me like a virginal princess, dragon. If you are determined that I am your mate, and if I am indeed bonded to you, then I want to feel it!” It was followed by a string of profanities as his hips slammed forward faster, his body rutting hers with a ferocity that matched, and possibly surpassed that which she had experienced before with him in the caves.

Damn … this is definitely HOT .

Ok I’m a asshole yeah I know , this book is really great seriously, but like most of the times the problem is …well the problem is me hahahaha yeah I DNF at 72% that’s it … the main reason? I’m bored , but I’m like this always bored … I’m even bored of myself damnit.

Faulty storytelling but interesting try

This story was built beautifully. There were so many interesting things, but the characters and storyline itself didn’t grab me until the end. There really should of been more information given in the earlier chapters about the differences between the dragons, the dark shadows, and the mages. What did each of them want, need, why did they want to manipulate the Dragon? As the reader, I need some information earlier on to peak my curiosity to keep reading. This book did not do that. It was lazy reading until like 80 percent mark. There should have been interesting tidbits of details about what was really going on earlier. The Dragon knew that he and his female human mate had to leave this place but Tania never knew what was coming. Also the Dragon was magically enchanting his seed not to impregnate, per his mate’s request, however during the climax of the story the Dragon changed forms and he was not himself. The Dragon had been magically altered by force of the evil villain, to release seed during blood rage. His mate Tania had to save him. She drew this enraged Dragon to her so that she could make him calm down. His seed should have just been highly potent because the evil villain caused this spell and chaos to steal it and create a Dragon for himself. So by using the logic of the story itself a dragon baby should have been cooking in Tania, but no, that didn’t happen. I only kept reading because this author is one of my favorites otherwise I would have stopped reading. Disappointed!

OMG! Best find ever!💖💖🔥🔥

A random Thursday night scrolling through my kindle unlimited and up popped this absolute treasure! I don't care what name SJ Sanders writes under she never disappoints, the world building is fabulous, the characters are compelling, real and so well written that you'll find yourself losing all track of time and immersing yourself into this new and amazing world! I'm more than thrilled that this was not a shifter book I'm actually one of those who preceded beast over the Prince in Beauty and the beast. I loved that Drathnor was all Dragon . He was male, Dragon and beast when He needed to be. He was also wise loving and passionate! Everything one wants in a mate😘😘 Tania a mature woman , a thief who craved independence and safety she just never thought she would find all that in being the mate if a Dragon! Their is so much that is fabulous about their book! There is magic, mayhem, myth violence, caring passion and love so much love ! If you like your leading males a little more on the beastly side you will love this! I can't recommend this book enough you have to read it for yourself! I can't wait for more books like this!.💖🔥💖🔥🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥

This was a unique monster romance. I’ve never read something that mixed so many different vibes together. It gave post apocalyptic and steampunk and fantasy. Fantasy was the most dominant vibe, so I wish there was more of the others too. I think the setting and the places they were would’ve been a nice way for that to come through more.

The dragon was very much so a dragon. I found it hard to visualize his smaller form. His instincts and priorities were very animalistic which made sense and fit well. The FMC I liked. Her personality was fun and sassy, but it didn’t seem to fit the mood and setting of the book very well. She felt too modern almost.

The middle of the book was kinda boring. There wasn’t a lot going on. I was hoping for the FMC to go explore the monastery or for us to see some on the MMCs flights. It didn’t seem like they had a lot of time to bond, and therefore their theoretically very intense soul deep connection felt shallow.

The end of the book? Incredible. Bonkers craziness. Absolute anarchy. Very entertaining ending. I wanted more of that throughout the book. The drama was so good.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶🌶

Why does this not have more reviews? I loved it. I’ve been in a reading slump for months and Apperently just needed a good ole dragon romance with horror elements. This book is pretty short and sweet while also carrying pretty dark themes, along with a lot of occult and mythology I enjoyed!

“I can’t believe that you think this necessary.”
“I do not wish to tempt my mate into becoming a dragon slayer early in life,”

This book does have a strong female mc being paired with a mmc who can be pushy with the whole “let me lead and protect you” thing but it got better as you read along, less “bro-y” in my opinion. But if you hate the overprotective love interest you won’t like this (he deadass eats ppl in dragon form idk) I would consider this a dark romance.

-bondage!
-spanking (with his tail!?)
-mate bond
-primal play! Lots of chasing!
-ice play?
-size difference ;)
-fancy collar
-edging
-he has natural birth control need I say more?
-they share a breath and it was hella erotic idk

3 stars

Started promising, I liked Tania`s character, but the second half of the books was a bit boring as plot and ending felt a bit flat for me.

* Hero(s) - 2/5 Drathnor... I could not care less for him. In the beginning he seemed interesting. Also too territorial and controlling for me tbh.
* Heroine(s) - 3/5 Tania started a solid 4 but ended up a 3. The reason why is the 2nd half of the book.
* Secondary Characters - 3/5 (not much about them. there to move along the plot)

* Plot - 2/5 I liked the first few chapters but after her attempt to escape things just went down with the whole story.
* Romance/Steam - 3/5 (There was not much romance, and smut is what it is...)
* Drama/Conflict/Angst - 2/5

* Writing Style - 3.5/5

Made it to 33%.

I really wanted to love this heroine. Beyond the law, can wield a weapon, AND holds up a sassy attitude? Frankly, that's my jam. But it just feels so...impersonal. All the characters in this world/book are so cold and unfeeling, I had a really hard time seeing such battleaxe 'out for myself, forever' personalities communicating. I think a mix of high/low, out/shy, forward/backward characters are best for any novel--and this particular book does not provide that combo.

So it's been shelved...possibly forever. I could not get back into it at all...so probably forever.
...who am I kidding. I'll never finish this, it's dead to me.

I had to skim a lot and couldn’t force myself to finish it.
I enjoyed most of the 68% that I’ve read.
Just too much extra stuff for me 😩

Fated mates trope; insta-lust/attraction!
Monster man + human girl.
(He’s a dragon even in smaller bipedal form!)
Steamy smex scenes 🌶🌶 knotting
No cheating. There is a scene of Heroine flirting with another man for work. (She’s a thief and needs info)
Neither heroine nor hero are virgins!
Heroine is in her 30s and the hero, well, he’s ancient. 👀

Re-read? No.

Recommend?
If you don’t mind monster-man + human woman, extra details and enjoys smut w/ fantasy elements! 👌🏼

After coming from the 500-page Duskwalker Bride and Witch Bound series (no pun intended), this felt downright breezy.

Pros:
-Monster stays a monster, and has some truly alien ways of thinking
-There are other women with agency and the FMC isn't immediately catty to any other woman. At worst she teases them a bit.

Cons:
-The sex scenes were fairly tepid and bland, especially for a monster romance. The freakiest they get is "Fuck but on the GROUND instead of the bed!" and "Fuck but against the WALL instead of the bed!"
-Very simple, stilted dialogue that couldn't decine on a tone for the world
-Egregious insta-lust that didn't make sense, very little chemistry between leads

Everything you thought you needed

Ok , I just couldn't put this down! Oh man S.J. Sanders is such a fun writer. I love all of her books, if you haven't read them I suggest you start now they're that good.
This book contains some bdsm and submission but it plays a small part, I just love the FL she's a strong and very confident h and loves everything that happens between the ML so there's definitely consent. The ML can get on my nerves sometimes but you can help but fall for him too. Overall super fun read ❤

Brilliant piece of storytelling

As usual she knocks it out of the park.
Tania was a sassy ball of energy and I loved her like peanutbutter and jelly toast.
The whole premise of the book... evil mages, crazy religions, giant evil monsters... plus a hot a@@ dragon and some very sexy use of ropes? Girl, get me a fan stat!!!
I will be the first to admit I hate dragon books. Even Ruby Dixon's dragon smut couldn't win me over but this is the first time I'm like... femme more dragons ppluuullleeeaasssee!
10/10 pantie scorching hotness. Would recommend!

I wasn’t entirely sure about venturing into Dark Erotica but I’m glad I did. The trigger warnings are appropriate and well put to allow reader the decision of abandoning or reading on. The story was well written and very easy to get into. I fell in love with the idea of Drathnor and Tania very easily and wasn’t as disturbed as I thought I would be. In fact, the hot scenes made me squirm 😆, credit to the author’s way with words. The plot definitely had some surprises so in no way predictable. My only complain is the epilogue about baby Admys was entirely too short.

HECK YES

I am here for it! More please!
SJ Sanders you have done it again, why am I always surprised? I really shouldn’t be at this point.

This is the first that *i* have seen which has a true dragon, not a shapeshifter dragon, and it was amazing!! So well done 🥲

The stories are always original, always filled with just the right amount of adventure, romance and character build. My only complaint would be if this is the only one in this series, maybe Dorienna’s story next?? 😬

After the first monster showed up, it was time to go. After the next monster tried to kill her, there is no way anyone in their right mind would hang around the monster infested monastery. There just wasn’t any reason to do so. It was a huge plot hole to try to work my mind around while chanting “just leave! Go! You have NO reason to stay!”

More void monsters kept sporadically attacking until they both almost died. Go figure.

Also, the start was really rough. Keeping your mate chained while trying to win her over just wouldn’t work with the personality of the FMC.

Something New

At first I was a leery of trying this book but I am a devoted fan of Mrs. Sanders so I said what the heck I will try it out. Surprising it was a great read. It's a new style of writing that I will have to get use to but as always will written, a very happily ever after with an Easter egg to get us excited on the next book and a definite reread. I will have to read the Corruption of a Rose to see how this new style of writing became.

Dragon Treasure

I absolutely enjoyed this book. I loved Drathnor and Tania's story. When you came out with Corruption of the Rose, I absolutely loved it and was hoping for more like it. Dragon Treasure is a great continuation of that theme. The world building was amazing and so rich. I am looking forward to more like this book. I would highly recommend this book. Wonderfully creative story.

Really good read

I liked this dark and twisty different take on having the dragon remain in form just smaller. I was a little shocked at how quickly he took her but after that the story was really interesting and I like to see new ideas like this flipped in a new and creative way. There was lots of action and steam. I guess when you live as long as dragons you learn so pretty awesome skills. I love the single minded love. Great job.

Im not sure what happened

DNFed at 42% :(

Was it terrible? No. Was it interesting enough to hold my attention? Also, no.

I picked this book up for fancy peen and dragons but it's not really living up to that. I mean yes, there are dragons but I'm very bored. I hate to say that but its true.

The plot was not for me. I don't like the FMC. The pacing was not what I expected and I felt it was slow. :(

It is what it is.
