Four years after suffering the loss of our parents, our brother is murdered right alongside his beautiful wife, the devastation leaving their three children orphaned.
Not only have I lost my brother but now I’m forced to take on his two kids and seventeen-year-old stepdaughter, Penelope.
But Pen is far from the little girl I remember. No. She’s all woman, with soft curves and plush lips—all things I shouldn’t be noticing.
I have three months before she turns eighteen. Three months before she leaves for college. And three months to make sure whatever threat against her life has been thwarted.
Too bad for me, those three months will be nothing but torture laced with temptation, threatening to break my resolve.
Can I come out of this unscathed, or will this lust drag me into the pits of hell where I belong?
PENELOPE
Lies, deceit, and death. It’s all I’ve ever known.
And trusting someone? Out of the question.
Unfortunately, teenager me didn’t get the memo and I stupidly gave my crush-riddled heart to Jack Crown.
He was older, wiser, and apparently a manwhore.
I was his brother’s stepdaughter and way too young. Not on his radar, and justifiably so.
But that didn’t stop me from falling for the only man who’d ever shown me real affection. No. I let myself trust him, thinking he’d always be there. The one constant in my crappy life.
I was wrong.
Now, four years later, tragedy strikes again. By life’s irony I’ve landed on his doorstep with only one thing to prove.
I’m not the little girl he remembers, and I sure as f*ck don’t need him anymore.
Filthy Crown is a spin on the single dad age gap trope where Jack finds himself a new daddy after inheriting his brother's kids and strong-willed stepdaughter. Here's what to expect:
Good God, this one starts on a very dark note. I’m not sure if it’s been too long since I read a dark one or if this just hit a nerve. But damn.
On a side note, the book formatting is beautiful.
I know it’s fucked up but I’ve always loved age gaps where he was there to watch her grow up. (Torn by Carian Cole, California Dreamin’ by Saffron A Kent) The way their relationship evolves always sucks me in. I’m sure it stems from the fact that I was in love with my brother’s best friend who’s 9 years older, since childhood.
Everyone knows I love age gaps but this whole WRATH fan club for young girls is disturbing. Like it’s one thing to have one older man fall for a much younger girl. It’s a whole other world to have a whole group of them. It feels less like love and more like predators. Just saying.
Nothing says love like a man making all of your decisions. Like it was mentioned before, this girl might be young in years but she’s fucking ancient in life experience. Pretty sure she can decide what she wants to do with her life.
A lot happened near the end of this, many twists and turns I didn’t see coming. It kinda felt like it all happened too fast and everything was reconciled too quickly as well. It could’ve definitely used better pacing and timing.
Overall a pretty interesting read but most importantly it was hot as all get out.
This is a new-to-me author that I’m going to be reading the backlist up for! This is the first in a series, a standalone, but I’m already dying for the next book in the series, which will feature the single dad/nanny trope. I loved this book! It’s the perfect blend of angst and forbidden romance. However, I was a little disappointed by how easily things wrapped up in the end, particularly the suspense plotline. Something was fishy. Also, when I read a forbidden romance, I love when people “find out” about the romance, and I felt a little cheated with one character at the end. Extreme spoiler under the spoiler tag All in all, I loved the writing style, the book was both steamy and romantic, and I can’t wait to read more! The WRATH team all have their romance books written up, so I’ll be checking those out pronto! 4.5 stars
✔️ Virgin heroine ✔️No manwhore ✔️ P/O hero ✔️Age gap (17 I 33(?)) ✔️Single parent trope (kinda not their kids but he is the guard & she is the sister) ✔️Uncle X niece ( they aren't really related) ✔️Daddy Kink
Really liked the story and I'm going to read the next book in the series soon 🙌🤍
WOW, I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH HOW GOOD THIS BOOK IS. YOU GUYS ARE NOT READY!! JACK AND PENELOPE ARE FIRE TOGETHER; THERE LOOK AT EACH OTHER, AND YOU CAN FEEL THE TENSION FROM THE BEGINNING.
THE CHEMISTRY IS PALPABLE. THIS STORY IS A AGE-GAP ROMANCE, SO BE OPEN MIND.
AFTER ALL HER LIFE, SHE FINDS OUT HER MOM LIED TO HER, AND SHE DISCOVERS A SECRET NOBODY EXPECTED, PEN WAS SEPARATED AGAIN FROM HER FAMILY, BUT JACK AND THE WRATH OF MEN FIND OUT WHERE SHE IS AND GO TO CONFRONT THE SUBJECT.
I DON'T WANT TO SAY TOO MUCH BECAUSE YOU NEED THIS BOOK. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!
This was freaking hot. Since the stumble across the author's announcement for the series, I knew I had to see reads it. I love forbidden and taboo books too much not to. I really liked Penelope, she definitely didn't act like a brat and she had an assertive personality. Love that she wasn't naive. Jack I wanted to shake sometimes. Yes, I get where he was coming from but he took one step forward and then 3 steps back. It got on my nerves real quick. And small things like that kept getting to me which inaebla me to really enjoy it. Also, some parts were really cheesy & kinda cringey. But I still want to read the other books cause again I'm a whore for forbidden books.
Filthy Crown was such a spectacular read and I have been wanting to read this author for quite some time. I found her through Instagram, and she shares many of my political views and SUPER vocal about it and not many authors that share these views are vocal. But she is so courageous and brave about it. So I wanted to support her and want to read ALL of her books. I do plan on it. This was my first book from her and I absolutely adored it. It does have some taboo topics, so if you don't like taboo, then I don't recommend it. It does deal with aspects of age gap, step family connections and the age of the heroine being 17. So go into this story, knowing that and it will be a good experience for you.
I was immediately pulled into the story, and I just couldn't put it down. This was such a fast and quic, romance, which I respect because many books for me are just so slow these days for me. But NOT this author, and I can't tell you how happy it makes me to find an author that can engage me so well. I really enjoyed this story as a whole and it does deal with some challenging aspects to it. I really respect that so much. There was such a level of intensity to the vibe of the romance, and you become so captivated by these moments between the hero and the heroine. There is definitely strong levels of taboo, but I felt like the author really handled these aspects well and the setting of Texas probably helped a bit too. Even though the underage thing can trigger me at times, this one didn't. Eleanor Aldrick handled these just right. There is a strong sense of family connection in this book and I was so drawn into this group and this world having each other's back. It does also deal with some heavy topics of trauma, PTSD and abuse as the heroine was rescued when her mother was brutally murdered in front of her and her young siblings by a cartel. The ending of the story??!! I did NOT expect that at all. haha The author really blew me away with that one and to get the big reveal at the end was so endearing. This author definitely had me in all of my feels from beginning to end with this.
I really found that this story worked for me in many ways. It's not quite a five-star read, I think some of the taboos I just wasn't in quite the best mood for which detracted a bit from my full enjoyment. I think if I had done more research, I might have been better prepared. However, I didn't listen to my best advice and do my due diligence on it. I will say that this won't be my last book from this author. I definitely plan on reading her whole backlist and I can't wait for what is ahead.
Overall I found Filthy Crown to be an intense, edgy-filled romance to curl your toes and tug at the deep emotions and evoke powerful reactions that make you want to cheer this couple on from beginning to end! UTTERLY STUNNING!
This was a new to me author and I was excited for the book - it hits so many of my favourite tropes. I even read it in one go though that was circumstantial rather than because it was great. Sadly, I didn't find it so.
SPOILERS AHEAD. You've been warned * * * * * I really enjoy most things that this book was (the guardian, age gap, taboo elements...) but I did not enjoy this. At all. 17 year old Penelope witnesses her parent brutally murdered during a kidnapping. She is rescued and she and her younger half siblings are sent to live with their Uncle Jack (who is not an actual blood relation to her). She had been close to Jack as a child but he disappeared from her life (for reasons unknown to her) for the previous 4 years. She was also quite infatuated with him (in so much as a 13 year old can be I guess). After pining for him for 2 years,(without actually asking anyone anything about where he might have gone) she decides to move on and forget about him. So we have some unresolved, hormonal adolescent feelings.
Jack sees her arrive and immediately has inappropriate lustful thoughts. It takes about, oh, a day before they are half all over each other. But its wrong, Oh so wrong says Jack (without actually doing very much to stop it). Other than . Nonetheless, she is still 17, traumatised and has unresolved child feelings for him...
I felt a lot of the time like Jack was just kind of pervy and my over riding feeling was one of mild distaste most of the way through. I didn't want to feel this because I feel like this story had SO much potential. I suspect part of the reason for this was actually the writing itself. Things happened and there was no explanation, we just jumped to that event for no reason and on moved the story . There also just wasn't a lot of character exploration aside from the lack of resolution of things. It just reads like jack has no self-control but not in a hot alpha way.
There were some parts of them coming together that were hot (as noted) and for that I gave an extra star but mostly this was just ridiculous, especially the WRATH men and how that was handled. Actually, that was one of the most distasteful parts for me, the encouragement to Jack to go after Penelope. I know what the author was trying to do, but Yeah, that didn't cut it with me. Again, just mildly distasteful and made me not want to read their stories (though again, I usually love this stuff and I should have been salivating all over those other books).
Knowing what the author was trying to do at least let me finish it to see if it would get better but the plot just got completely ridiculous, even for me. And then we got one of most disliked tropes ...
Filthy Crown kept its' promise of filthiness through and through. Sizzling hot and very thrilling, this book will keep you on the edge.
With high tension and intense moments, this book is a perfect taboo thrill for you.
That being said, there were moments though where I felt that some of the scenes were glossed over that it felt rushed, and that the main characters were not fleshed out as I would have preferred. However, I just chalked it up for maybe the author's focus was more about the thrill of the taboo more than anything else.
Thankfully, it didn't ruin the overall effect of the story. The book is still entertaining.
Don't get me wrong, this book has a great storyline going on still and with side characters that will surely pique your interest. I loved how the author involved past characters from her other series because it worked: I have already checked out that series called Men of WRATH. The brothers of the main characters were heavily featured too, which was an added flavor to the story. Coupled with mysteries and twists and turns and you got yourself a taboo book with an actual plot going on in the background.
Anyways, this book is perfect for all the age-gap/forbidden romance lover out there. This has it all: taboo, filthiness, thrilling moments and delicious side characters as well.

DNF @23% I’m not liking this one at all. Penelope is a 17 year old child playing grown up. Jack is a grown man with insta lust. The story is a mess and I don’t want to spend anymore time on it. So my major book slump continues.
Welp, add this one to another 5 star read by Eleanor! Jack and Pen, feisty, fiery, growly they were made for each other! Holy hotness I don’t think I’ve ever highlighted a book this many times!🥵🥵🥵. I couldn’t put it down! You don’t want to miss the beginning of another amazing series! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC!! Another favorite couple!!😍😍
Filthy Crown is from a new to me author, and with tropes that are often my catnip, I had nigh hopes for this. And, there were certainly parts I really enjoyed, though there were parts of this book that didn't work for me personally.
What did work was the STEAM. Holy moly, Eleanor clearly is great at writing sexual chemistry. The taboo and erotic merged nicely with a tenderness, and I was all about it. And a dirty talking alpha older forbidden men- IT IS MY CATNIP. And this story worked so well and I ate it up. So the main coupling (the most important part of the book) did capture me, and I found those parts so delicious.
Unfortunately, though, the secondary plot elements kept pulling me away from that erotic bliss. From the very first chapter, we realize Eleanor is telling more than forbidden romance- there is a larger storyline afoot with dark and surprising elements that I was not quite expecting. That's entertaining, if married well to the romantic thread, and for most of the book, I felt the focus was more on the subplot than the romance. We have lots of chapters with both characters not even interacting with each other and a focus on a large cast of secondary characters (too many for me to fully invest in any of them)- though it seems the brothers are going to be featured in more books. The result is that we feel like our characters don't even really know each other or connect at all- a bit instalust. Which is fine, if we dig into the lust so they CAN start to get each other, but we have to wait a bit for anything to happen (in part because off the age of the heroine)- and that "daddy" part of it felt a bit forced to me. The romantic pace just felt a bit uneven- the exposition feels quite drawn out, and we have so many twists thrown at us at the end that it is all settled all too neatly (and given the subject matter, quite unbelievably). The result is that I ended up skimming early to try to get to some more of the romance. I did enjoy it once we got to more of that.
A lot here to like overall- strong writing style, great steam, and I'll be checking out future books since the preview for the future book was intriguing.
Wow, this book was so much more than I was expecting. I was completely hooked and I read it in one sitting. This was my first book by this author and I will 100% be reading more now.
There was so much chemistry between Jack and Penelope. I could feel the tension from the beginning. I really enjoyed both of their characters, as well as the side characters. Also, the spice in this book, oh my god! Obsessed.
The twist at the end😳 I’m so excited for the rest of the series to come and to see more of the brothers!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ alllllmost 5. Good lord this one started dark. Like…. Dark. Like bittersweet chocolate….. and black coffee… at midnight. I looooved this book. I did! It was seriously so good! The push and pull between main characters was amazing. I found myself smiling at the back and forth and loving the tension. All of the “almost” scenes were fire. BUT… the ending felt rushed. 😭 I wanted more tortured angst! I wanted Pen to be in grave danger. To be on the verge of certain death and to have Jack rush in like her white knight and save the day. But the ending was….. kinda….. anticlimactic? There’s still a bunch of unanswered questions but I’m sure everything will be answered in following books. And i WILL for sure be reading the following books. Fo sho.
Umm eww. A 17 year old is not “a woman with curves” you creep. Suggest the author seek mental support if she thinks that is a romance and not pedophilia.
Her mother is on her knees as one of their captives grasps her hair. Even as her mother begs her not to watch she can't turn away from the horror in front of her. How had a family vacation gone so wrong. Her stepfather Austin was lying beside her mom, but his head was nowhere to be seen.
Penelope holds her young brother and sister to her chest hiding their eyes trying to keep them from seeing the machete come down on their mother's neck. Then the man let's her mother's body fall to the floor ignoring them huddled in the corner and walks away.
Penelope and her brother and sister were in Mexico with her mother and stepfather when they had been kidnapped and suffered a long week of starvation. Although the she and her brother and sister were left alone her parents were beaten severely, her mother raped viciously and then both were decapitated.
Penelope needed to find a way to get her brother Alex and her sister Amanda out of here before they were next. Before she can move a man in full tactical gear comes through the door like an dark angel. It is so obvious that he is not one of their captors. He tells her he is with WRATH Securities hired by their uncle to get them out of here.
Jack is 6'3" with black hair and hazel eyes. Like all of the Crown brothers he has a chiseled jawline and bulging muscles and too gorgeous for his own good. Four years ago to the date they lost both of their parents to the cartel and now a brother. As the oldest brother he feels that he has let everyone down and feels responsible for his brother's death. Maybe he should have done more to keep them all together.
He and his brothers Matthew, Jace and Hunter didn't spend as much time as they should together. Jace owns the hottest nightclub in Florida, Matthew lives a few hours away and Hunter a literal hermit hidden away up in the mountains from Jack's massive ranch in Colorado. But, everyone is here to welcome Penelope, Alex and Amanda. Jack is now their guardian, but his brothers wanted to make sure they were here when they arrived.
They are finally out of Mexico, but are having to wait on health checks before they can be released. Of all the brothers it had to be Jack who was their guardian. She had a crush on him since she was 9 and had never forgiven him for leaving her alone for the last 4 years. After being there for her for five years every weekend and never missing a birthday or recital, he just stops coming - no goodbye - nothing!
Penelope was determined that when she turned 18 in a few months that she was leaving and taking the kids with her. They may be 5 and 9, but they were her life and she wasn't leaving them behind. She learned the hard way that Jack couldn't be trusted to stay when he was needed.
When the SUV pulls up Penelope has to pull her jaw back up. The farmhouse could double as a hotel. Well, she didn't care how gorgeous the home and ranch were she learned the hard way that she couldn't depend on men. First her dad left never to be seen again and then Jack. Never again.
Jack is stunned when Penelope gets out of the SUV. This woman with long slender legs, dark hair tumbling down her back with honey-colored eyes is not the girl he remembered. And he has to remind himself that not only is she too young, but she was his brother's stepdaughter and practically his niece. He knew he was in big trouble.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the horror comes through the pages as Penelope and her siblings are not only starved, but having to witness the brutality and ultimate murder of their parents. The characters are all well-developed and are very relatable.
This book is action-packed from beginning to end. We have torture and gruesome murders, age gap romance, taboo relationship, and age play. You want to go through the pages and hug Alex and Amanda tight as they wake up screaming from nightmares. The relationship between the brothers is tight and loving despite not seeing each other as often as they wish.
The sexual chemistry between Jack and Penelope is off the charts hot and even though Jack feels that their relationship is all kinds of wrong he can no longer fight his feelings. This books has several twists at the end one of which was an outright shock.
The author does not hide the brutality of their parent's death so beware, but you literally have to be there to get the full depth of this story. I highly recommend this book and can't wait to see what she has in store for the remaining Crown brothers.
I really, really wanted to love this book. It had so many elements that I love, but just as many things irked me. I don't even know how to review this. I'm conflicted. Here are a few notes I jotted down as I read. Notes: I love the premise. I love the age gap. I love the setup for the story. I love Pen's strength and protective nature, but she sometimes goes a bit overboard with her brazen attitude. I love Jack. Though I wish his character were a bit more fleshed out. I feel like we know nothing about him, his personal life, his likes/dislikes, and what he does for a living.
So Penelope was peeved at him for abandoning her for years, and yet within a day, she's flirting and calling him "Daddy." Really? For a girl that has an "aversion to men," she seems to be quite ballsy with flirting and inappropriate behavior. I wish she were a bit timider. I just don't see this "aversion" we're told about.
Penelope takes two steps out of the car, and already Jack is having inappropriate thoughts. I thought there would be tension to build the chemistry and passion - lingering glances here and there, a touch, a stolen moment - but the author just skipped to inappropriate thoughts, language, and actions. Maybe find another way of referring to "the men of WRATH" or the "ladies of WRATH." It really becomes redundant when it's a constant line every few pages.
Overall there was so much potential for this story. If only the author had built the tension and the frustration between the characters longer than a day. If she had played on Pen's anger and resentment toward Jack, it could have made for some explosive scenes. I didn't hate it, but I also didn't love it. However, I am interested enough to try other books in the series.
I love gritty books and I love taboo romances, and this book checked both.
What I liked about the book: 1. Holy mother of god, the steam!!! Let's be honest, I read it for the taboo and stayed for the super well written dirty talk and steamy scenes.
2. I love the spinoff potentials for the other brothers. I'm going to have to go read the Men of Wrath series now so I can understand all those names they through out at the get together.
3. I really liked the surprise with Austin. I totally didn't see that coming.
Why it didn't get 5 Stars: 1. Ok, let's be honest. While the steam was good, the rest was meh. Did that stop me though? Hell no!
2. Soooooo Austin had no problem with the Pen and Jack situation? Why was Matt the only one that saw the issue here?
3. Every time one of these chuckleheads said "brother" instead of someone's name, I couldn't help but think of Hulk Hogan, and that is definitely not who I want to picture when I read this kind of book.
I hate giving a not so great review when the author is such a sweetheart but Filthy Crown missed the mark for me. With that being said..I knew fully well what I was going into with this book. An age gap with a teenager is not my jam but I was curious. My issue with this book was not with the age gap it was with the lack of story and character development. Who are these characters outside of this older man lusting after a 17 year old and who is she outside of having a crush on her step uncle??
The beginning starts out with something extremely horrific happening to the heroine and her family so she and her siblings have to go live with her step uncle Jack. Mind you the horrific incident happened just days prior but homegirl is mainly focused on the fact that Jack stopped coming around when she was younger. I mean she was so focused on that like they were in some kind of relationship LOL!! I was bothered by the lack of mourning…I know people handle grief differently in real life but on paper it doesn’t translate. I just feels like something is missing from the story.
I won’t go into further details but I think I would’ve liked this book more if these characters were fleshed out more. Don’t get me wrong I love me some smut but I also need a solid story to hold on to so I can get invested in these characters so I can believe that they truly should be together.
Thank you so much to the author for giving me the opportunity to read an Arc of Filthy Crown
Having picked up Ms.Aldrick's work with her Men of WRATH series earlier this year I have been so excited to pick up more of her work! As soon as the Crown Brothers books were announced they instantly became anticipated reads of mine! I started reading this first one as soon as i could. I really enjoyed this story so much!
Right from the prologue I was pulled in! Jack and Penelope's journey wasn't an easy one. I felt so many things with both characters throughout and I was so glad that i got to be in their minds.
I enjoyed the way this story kept me on my toes and how i wasn't sure how everything was going to play out. I really liked the whole forbidden and age gap aspects of this story as well!
With Filthy Crown, Ms.Aldrick has created such a great and different kind of read! I can't wait for more of the Crown Brothers Series with book two, Trojan Crown!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author*
This is the first book I have read from Eleanor Aldrick and I wish I had discovered this author sooner.
I need to say that 'Filthy Crown' definitely lives up to it's name! Why? Well, because Jack Crown is filthy to his core! This is a forbidden romance with a major age gap between Penelope Garcia and her step-uncle Jack (yes, he is Pen's step-uncle).
This story is not just about a taboo romance though. Penelope and her siblings have been through something (before Jack entered their lives) that would traumatize even the strongest person and it has changed them. I liked how supportive the Crown brothers were as they banded together to protect Penelope and her siblings.
Alright, now that I'm hooked on these dirty Crown brothers, I'm off to read the next book in the series.
The spice in this book is 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶/5. Dirty talk is on point if you don’t have a problem with the nicknames Daddy, Princess, and Baby Girl. This isn’t kink just what Jack and Penelope call each other.
I liked the cartel drama. The plot twists. And the chemistry between all the characters. What I didn’t like is the unnecessary angst from these two, Jack mostly, which surprised me because is a grown ass man. The other thing I didn’t like was the pregnancy trope. This is a me thing. Surprise babies and marriage proposals isn’t my thing. However, I know this is romance and readers want the satisfying ending.
Only a couple more days until Trojan Crown releases!! I
Thank you Eleanor for allowing me to continue as apart of your street team! I couldn’t believe how much I highlighted in this book it’s so good!!! I haven’t ever been disappointed by Eleanor Aldrick’s works! I was obsessed with the men of wrath series which made my top books of 2021! This book has gotten me into my feels even more! I cried, smiled, and blushed so much I squirmed- Jack will be the death of me. Anyways I’m still crying now because of how emotional this book was and the fact the melatonin that’s been trying to kick in, hasn’t been able to knock me out due to the fact I stood to read this book until the end. If you haven’t, preorder this book before the release date for the .99 deal!!!!
The first book in the Crown Brothers series lived up to its name and was filthy from page to page.
Not to say there wasn't plot right along with all that steam coming from these pages!
Jack Crown was honestly *Daddy AF* and Penelope was the kind of strong, take charge FMC that I love to read about.
Not to be outdone was the cast of the rest of the Crown Brothers (HUNTER...I'm looking at you my mans) and also we see some other character's that I'm just going to stay hush hush on so you can just read it.
Filthy Crown checked all the boxes, age gap, insta-love, and forbidden relationships. Throw in some suspense, a cartel and other drama and it becomes wonderful to read. Penelope has witnessed some very horrific things, and is reeling from the sadness and loss, but when her and her siblings are placed in their Uncle Jack's care old feelings come back to the surface. Eleanor Aldrick has written a gripping story of hope, sadness, and love. This couples tale is realistically beautiful.
This book was insane. I found myself laughing and crying and I think I screamed a time or twenty-two. This was toxic AF but also thrilling and honestly I still feel like my question wasn’t answered yet. But I know this has many more books to go so I’ll wait until Austin’s story. OhMYGosh this was so freaking good 😊😘🥰😍!!
This has all the tropes and forbidden romance that I love in a book I just didn’t find I connected with their relationship as much as I wanted to and the depth was missing for me and some parts of the plot felt rushed.
Guardian/step uncle (no blood relation) Age gap Trauma/PTSD Cartel relations Taboo/forbidden
Am I attracted to this? No.. Am I? … No … Wait. Lo que me pareció peculiar es que me recordó a mis épocas de ff, así que mientras disfrutaba la historia igual me entraba la nostalgia bien random jajajaj.
