Butterfly Girl was a very touching and emotional journey into the life of Alexis Armstrong.

As the story opens we are introduced to two E.R. nurses, Alexis (our female main character) and Charlie (short for Charlene). Alexis is a loner, independent and slow to trust others, but she enjoys working with Charlie more than any of the other nurses. Maybe one day she and Charlie can become friends. Charlie's twin brother Cameron often visits his sister in the emergency room, and brings coffee for all of the nurses. Alexis sees him constantly flirting with the nurses, and enjoying the attention, and she decides that she wants nothing to do with Cameron, or any man, right now... maybe not ever.

But, Cameron is drawn to Alexis for reasons he cannot explain. She makes him want to be better, do better, and he has an overwhelming instinct to protect her. But... he has no idea why. Charlie is also protective of Alexis, especially when it comes to her brother's flirtatious nature, but promises Cam she will do her best to get Alexis to come to breakfast one day after their overnight shift. Cam wants to get to know Alexis better, but she isn't interested in being anything more than friends, and Cam agrees that friends will have to be the perfect place to start. Besides, Cam's still trying to figure out what went wrong with his sister's relationship with their best friend, Louis.

As Cam's feelings for Lex grow, he begins to have flashbacks from his childhood. Flashbacks involving the twins' friend Louis. When the flashbacks begin, Cam chalks it up to reminiscing about how Louis came into their lives, and how the twins included Louis into their twin/best friend group, especially when Louis and Charlie appear to be dating. But, the flashbacks also bring another person to his memory...a little girl who always cried on the way home from school. A little girl that Cam decided would be his seat partner every afternoon. A little girl that he would save his Kit Kat for, just to see her smile through her tears. She said she wasn't allowed to tell strangers her name, so he called her Butterfly...and she called him Batman.

Butterfly Girl explores the debilitating and traumatic effects of domestic abuse in a household. The thoughts, fears, precautions, isolation, nightmares, coping mechanisms, and triggers that are written in this story are very truthful and relatable to those who have had the grave misfortune of living with domestic abuse. Butterfly Girl delves deep into the victims darkest secrets, feelings of shame, desire to hide their past from the world; and allows the reader a small glimpse of the roller coaster of emotions that comes with trying to heal.

I was blown away by how amazing this book. For a book that has a trigger of domestic violence can be difficult and confronting, but this book was so full of emotion and hope, that I loved every single thing about it.

Imagine meeting that one person as a child, that never forgot you. And, will be the person who ends up saving you. Then, this is that book. Alexis is our FMC, works as a nurse in a busy ER department on night shift, all while hiding behind a tragic and horrific life. Alexis is very closed off, and has had to be to protect herself from the hurt she experienced from those who should have loved and protected her. She never wants to feel helpless, indebted to ANYONE, or love. Love leads to pain.

Cameron (Cam) has had the opposite experience. Is twin Charlie and him are as close as twins can be. They are each other's best friends, and they share a best friend in Louis. He see's Alexis, and is drawn to her, but cannot understand why.

Everything falls into place between how these two know each other, and it just is the most beautiful, captivating story that I could simply not stop reading. It gives all the emotions, and those feelings are all consuming at times. It is so beautifully written that you cannot help falling in love with Batman and his Butterfly. This is not a style of book I have read before, but I am so glad I have found this author, and chose to apply and read this book as an ARC. I highly recommend.

Love love loveeee the medical field representation. I'm pretty sure that's what drew me to this. And mostly it was pretty accurate. Only one incident that didn't seem accurate to me. But I applaud any type of medical representation. I'm always a sucker for em. Add PTSD and childhood abuse representation and you've got yourself a winner.

There is triggers in this book, but they are listed and advised. Please be aware.

Butterfly aka Alexis. She's had a rough time in life. Meeting hit after hit with whoever appeared in her life. It's rough and unfair. The Callahan's coming into her life brightened it up and showed her that she could rely on another person. That she didn't have to be on guard or all alone. And they were ever so patient with her when she needed to figure it out.

Batman aka Cameron. You cinnamon roll you. Being a good guy is just in your nature. Looking inwardly on yourself to see if you were the problem. Willing to change if need be. He was patient and understanding. Exactly what you need to be with someone who's been through what she has. He's a good man, open and honest. I loved how these two discovered each other.

It's a very cute story. I enjoyed it.

This is my first book from this author.
I honestly enjoyed this book. I believe this is the 2nd book in the Callahan series about Charlie's Twin brother Cameron and ER nurse Alexis.
Cameron has spent his life not really thinking much about his relationship with women or lack of one. He usually does ONS. He never really thought deeply about it until he sets his mind on wanting to court His sister's co-worker Alexis.

Alexis is someone who had to grow a hardened hard due to her traumatic past of dealing with Abusive men in her life. She's had no one in her corner growing up and had to fend for herself. She is quite a strong character as she made a great life for herself. She has no interests in being in any kind of relationship with a man but is slowly trying to opening her walls and making friends.

This story was very sweet. Not a heavy read at all despite the darkness of Alexis past. It was done respectfully but, not fully focused on it. I think the author just wanted to give us an idea of her past environment. They both do develop throughout and make realizations about themselves and their flaws.
I loved how they had actually met when they were kids and how the Butterfly name came to be. However, I feel that should've been introduced a little bit earlier to have a stronger effect.
All the side characters were great as well.
It's a very cozy sweet read and everyone is basically family to one another. I definitely want to read the full series of The Callahans.

I definitely recommend this for anyone who wants a sweet, light, and comforting book to read.

This was a short, sweet story with just a little bit of spice. There are mentions of past childhood trauma - check the TWs.

This is the story for Cam and Alexis. Alexis is an ER nurse who works with Cam's twin sister Charlie, and Cam is an athletic trainer. Due to her difficult childhood and past trauma, Alexis isn't used to having friends, or receiving affection, and is slow to trust others. Cam is a reformed playboy who decides he needs to step out of his usual "type" if he wants more than just hookups with women. With Charlie's help, Cam is able to form a friendship with Alexis, which leads to dating. Cam is incredibly patient with Charlie as she adjusts to having someone else in her life.

I loved Cam & Alexis' story, and how supportive Cam was. I also loved Alexis' journey of opening herself up and healing from her past.

This is the 2nd book in the Callahan Clan series. I have not read the first book, but I didn't feel like that lessened my enjoyment of this book. I am very intrigued to read the next book, which follows Cam's sister.

Alexis & Cameron are the opposites attract, friends to lovers you need in you life. Absolutely loved their story. When they realized they were batman and butterfly (IYKYK) so swoony. Their burn may be slow but they light it up.

Alexis' tragic childhood resignated with me on a personal level, as did her perseverance to overcome it and make something of herself. I love that she overcame her trauma and allowed herself to be happy and open p to friends and love.

Cameron needed a woman like Alexis in his life to make him reevaluate his choices with woman, and I loved that he self reflected and realized he needed to change to get a woman like her to want to be with him.

Their childhood connection blew my mind and I loved how it was woven into the story. Looking forward to seeing what's next for the Callahan Clan!

Alexis and Charlie work together as ER nurses.
Cameron is interested in Alexis, who is not his “usual type” as his twin sister, Charlie, rightly points out. He contemplates this observation and decides to change his ways.

I really liked that their relationship starts off with friendship because Cameron IS a good friend indeed. Because of her past, Alexis has had very few happy memories and I loved that she had the chance to make so many first memories with Cameron, like their date to the carnival.

The flashbacks to kindergarten days were so cute and I wished I had close friends just like the “family” which Louis, Charlie and Cameron had. The dinners with the Callahan family were full of warmth and I truly enjoyed the found family trope which was abundant in this book.

Cameron and Alexis

Two characters with closed off hearts. Alexis has had a bad past and doesn’t want a man in her life.
Cameron doesn’t want a relationship and fills his needs with one night stands.
But when he sets his sights on Alexis he begins to change his opinions. If he only can convince Alexis that he is worth taking a leap of faith and a shot at happiness.
Alexis is slowly opening up to taking her walls down and making friends.
And Cameron has to work to be her friend before there is even a consideration for more.

This touching emotional book covers Alexis, an er nurse with a traumatic past. Alexis with a heart of gold and so much love to share, leaves her loved in a gilded cage because of her past and the fears that come with it. Charlie, her friend and co worker has a brother Cameron who is determined to open that cage and free Alexis from her fears. First he had to overcome the stereotype he was placed in and he has to show Alexis he is more than a typical playboy. This was my first read by Greenleigh and it was emotional and enjoyable. I loved that the main character was an Er nurse being a nurse myself it loved being able to relate a little to that. This was an amazing slow burn that is worth the read.

📚🌶

Please check your triggers since there are sensitive topics discussed.

Butterfly Girl was a quick read and the second book in the Callahan Clan series! I loved how these two meet and how the pursuit was on since that moment.

Cameron and Alexis meet since Alexis is Cameron sisters coworker. Cameron desperately pursues her, but she sees right through and his playboy ways. He has to get his act together if he wants to have her even consider him a friend. These two eventually become friends and so much more.

Greenleigh Adams created a really good book with a lot of backstory and detail. Definitely recommend reading the first in this series as well!

A short story but the storyline is captivating. Cameron has lived the playboy life and hasn’t really given much thought about a woman’s feeling until he meets Alexis, so when she shuts down Cameron’s advances, he decides to change his ways after his sister (Charlie) points out Alexis isn’t his usual type.

Alexis has had to fend for herself after dealing with so much abuse in the past. She is slowly letting down her walls and letting people in, making friends and this leads to a friendship with Cameron, that gradually turns to a relationship. The way their relationship plays out is sweet and wasn’t rushed.

Butterfly Girl, was my first read of Greenleigh Adam's and it was an enjoyable read. It was short and sweet with a little bit of an trauamtic past for Alexis thrown into the mix. I have not read many books where one of the main characters work in healthcare, and I like that Alexis is an ER nurse. It is refreshing reading something you do not normally gravitate towards, in my opinion.
If you are looking for your next friends to lovers, found family, slow burn read, you should give Butterfly Girl a chance. Batman and Butterfly, may just steal your heart.

2.5⭐️ but I’m rounding up instead of down. There’s potential here, what was given just fell flat

I really wanted to give this a higher rating, but I just can’t. It felt like it was written by a middle/high schooler who has little/no life experience yet. Certainly not romantic experience.

The lack of communication between the MCs just felt lazy, not purposeful. I get that Lex has a bunch of past trauma, but it just… wasn’t presented well? I don’t even know how to describe it.

There were a bunch of people and events mentioned and then we were just kind of left hanging, like they were unfinished stories.

This one wasn’t for me, obviously

ER nurse Alexis has been through a lot at a young age and trusts no one and has no friends.
But when fellow ER nurse Charlie and her brother Cameron come into her life all is changed.
Cameron can't get Alexis off his mind and can't understand why until Butterfly and Batman are uncovered......

A good story, though lots of internal dialog....

2nd chances
He fell absolutely first

This is my first time reading a book by this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I especially appreciate stories set in the healthcare field since that's what I do. The main character, Alexis, is an inspiring ER nurse who has worked hard to achieve her dreams despite a traumatic past. Cam, her friend’s brother and a known playboy, surprisingly falls head over heels for her. Watching their relationship evolve was heartwarming and gave me all the warm fuzzies. The author does a great job balancing the romance with the characters' personal growth. If you're looking for a quick, feel-good read with a satisfying happy ending, this book is definitely worth picking up.

This book was such a beautiful read. I loved Alexis (butterfly) and Cam (Batman) and their story. It truly was one of finding your people - soulmate and found family and coming to terms with your past. What Alexis went through in her past was just so tragic and to move forward like she did was just amazing. I loved how patient Cam was with her - he is exactly what she needed.

A good book with heavy topics. It was a little hard for me to get into, but overall the characters are great and each have a story. Cam has to change his playboy ways and Alexis has to learn to open up with plenty of bumps and laughs along the way. Overall a good read.

So good! This is a new author for me and I have to say I am excited to read other novels by this author. From the very first couple chapters this novel touched my heart. Once I started reading this novel captured my attention and held on tight. I loved Alexis, she has been thru so much that she has protected her heart from falling in love. I loved Cameron and Alexis. I loved watching them both lower their defenses and loved watching them fall in love. Their chemistry was so good! Once I started reading I had a hard time putting it down. I look forward to seeing what this author has coming next.

First of all, I don't enjoy the writing style of the author. It simply isn't for my taste. Secondly the story felt a bit flat, I didn't feel the chemistry between the main characters. The conflict arrived from nowhere and felt really fake. All in all, this book isn't for me.

I felt that this story does have a fast pace, the walls that Alexis built, were needed, felt though that they were brought down to quickly for what she went threw, and Cameron was so fast paced for Alexis, saying we are friends, too we have been dating. There seemed to allud that Alexis went through more than she did, during her teenage years, and I'm sure that she did, it was a traumatic childhood, just again felt rushed. I did love the full circle of how we get the name of Butterfly Girl, that was super cute and Batman. I did really enjoy seeing that Alexis was accepted into Cams family with no hesitation, I just wish that although Cam and his twin share everything, they knew to keep things to themselves as well. Overall, it was a nice quick read
