Let’s face it. I’m a jerk with a big bank account, and that means I call the shots. Until Macey McCaslin. There’s only one word to describe the smart, sexy, take-no-prisoners she-devil. Unforgettable. And while we may have made an agreement, she's bent on breaking the rules as much as I am.
This may cost me everything, but I’m not staying away… The only hitch in our little plan? Macey’s off-limits. So far off-limits, my brother Jason might kill me if he found out about us. And when he does, because he will find out… When I put it all on the line for Macey, the secrets that come tumbling out may break us both.

4 Worked Like a Fine Wine Stars * * * * Spoiler Free It is always so much fun to be surprised by a book. I decided to read this not really knowing if it was for me and bam, I was captured from the start. It had all the right tease, humor, Alphahole and sexy times. It also had heart, hidden at first but then drizzled in slowly to add to the mix.
I first read Tessa Layne when looking for an easy Western tale. She gave me that easy read and more. With Mr. Pink she will give you family complexity, relationship hurdles, chemistry off the charts and the understanding of nothing worth having comes easy.
Period.
Enjoyed this and will be looking forward to Mr. White.

I have been anticipating this book because I wanted to see more of Macey and her story. She is a the a widow and mom. The stories focus is on Austin one of the Case triplets and half brother to Jason. He likes to come off as a lazy, playboy truck fund jerk. It becomes apparent quickly when he meets Macy at a wine show and has a one night stand that he is more. When he is sent to purgatory, by his dad to work with his half brother or lose his trust fund , he is happy to see Macey again. She is not so happy because now after two hot hook up Austin is in her domain and will be for a while. As they work together it becomes clear that there is more than secret hook up. These two drop their guarded hearts and fall in love. Loved how Austin developed into a true man and faced his issues. Loved the dynamics between Macey, Austin and her daughter. Sweet and steamy. My only wish is that this author would do a dual POV. Loved the epilogue.

This is my first read from this author but it didn't entirely work for me for a few reasons.
1. I didn't like the characters. Our hero, Austin, is an entitled, selfish skirt chaser focused only on all the joy, jouissance and carnal pleasures his trust fund can give him. And he doesn't change much until the very end of the story so his growth as a character is almost non existent, kept to the very minimum. Same goes with Macey. I honestly don't even know what she is like as a character. In my eyes, she was just bland, boring and completely forgettable.
2. They fuck like rabbits almost in every chapter so that seems to be the driving force for this book. And that's not what I expected after reading the synopsis. It honestly gets old after a while. I couldn't feel their chemistry or connection because of the crappy instalust/ instalove thing.
3. There was a lot of drama and conflict in the entire family that was never clearly addressed and somehow swept under a rug, so that was a bummer.
4. The characters don't talk about anything apart from wine and the vinery. They don't communicate with each other about anything. They just fuck. And the unexpected pregnancy at the very end? Yeah, that killed their romance for me. Because I don't know if they got married because he knocked her up or because they actually wanted to start a family. And the hero wasn't sold on the idea until he found out she got preggo. So that was another bummer.
5. The story has no conflict. We are told they have to keep their relationship a secret because of Jason and the fact he wouldn't approve. But then we find out they hate each other's guts so that didn't make much sense to me tbh.
On the positives? I did like the writing style. It was the reason why I didn't DNF this book. Also, Mr Pink from Reservoir Dogs? Yup, my favorite, no doubt. I liked that it was entirely in Austin's pov (but I guess that was also the reason why Macey was such a Mary Sue). Oh, and it's clear that the author did the digging about wine making process etc, so that was kinda impressive.
All in all, I guess it was okay but slightly on the duller side for me. I know there are two more books in the series so I'll give them a try later, keeping my fingers crossed.
When Austin's trust fund is frozen, he capitulates to his father's demands to go learn the business with his brother. It isn't what he wants to do but it's not bad considering that the woman he can't get out of his mind is the sommelier. But will she give into the obvious attraction between them the way both their bodies want her to?
I must say at first that I didn't think Austin would be able to redeem himself. He came across as a useless manwhore, and he really was in the beginning. But he slowly grew on me just as he grew on Macey, and their journey was entertaining - bolstered by seriously hot chemistry, the kind not always seen. I really liked them together, and if this is the quality of all the writing in this series, then I will be reading all of the stories to come!
This was okay for me. The writing itself flowed well, but my dislike came from Austin. He is nothing like the characters that this author usually writes, and it was hard to adjust to that (for me anyway). He is arrogant, selfish, and a pretty big jerk until about 90% of the story. I was hoping for some growth, but there is only 1 time before then that he does anything remotely nice. I know that Austin had things in his past that were awful, but that didn't give him the right to treat other people that way. I felt like that whole situation was just swept under the rug. Macey was a good character, and I felt like she was too good for Austin. The ending was sweet, and it nice to see a better side to Austin. I'm hoping that the other brothers won't be quite so slow to change. I voluntarliy reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

Rating: 4.5
When I started this book I wondered why I had even started it. I hated it. Austin, the main character was a character that I didn't think I could read. By chapter 3 it was on it's last chance. If it didn't get better I was not going to finish it. Obviously, it got a lot better. I completely fell in love with this book and the characters. By the end I was almost crying with joy. Austin and Macey's relationship is what every girl dreams of but doesn't care to admit. She gave him feelings he had never felt and created the perfectly imperfect man for her. Sadly, I have never heard of this author but now that I have, I will be reading this series to the very end.
I was drawn to this book for kind of a silly reason - Mr. Pink is my favorite character in Reservoir Dogs - so I read the blurb and it was appropriately vague enough to pique my interest. I was pleased that the reference to the movie is made in the first page too so I guess it wasn't all wrong that the title drew my attention for that reason. Anyway, the story didn't really grab me - I like that it is told entirely from the hero's POV, which is still kind of rare, but Austin is not the kind of alphahole character I like when I think of that descriptor - he's not a workaholic, super intelligent jerk who says mean things all the time, to everyone. Rather, he's a cocky playboy who squanders his trust fund on expensive booze and getting laid. He and Macey have an insta-lust meeting/encounter, and circumstances bring them back together for more. They do have steamy scenes but I don't really feel the tension between them, or in their scenario. I also don't personally find wine very interesting and this was central to the non-sex plot. Later on in the book, I did enjoy the different family angles that were brought in, and those scenes, as well as when Austin took a serious interest in the business. The writing is good quality and the story was a quick, relatively short read, but I'm not interested enough to continue with the books about the other brothers. I read a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was my first time reading a book from this author. I liked that it was all in hero’s POV but, in my opinion, the author missed an opportunity to fully develop Austin’s character. 80% into the story and we still know nothing about his strained relationship with parents and brothers and who he really is behind his entitled, arrogant and selfish big jerk personality. Then last three chapters, author dumped a poor explanation about their family dynamics and just swept everything under the rug. Also, I didn’t really feel Austin and Macey falling in love. It seemed like pure lust all the time. Unfortunately, I’m not interested enough to read the next book in this series.
The book was amazing. There was moments that was laugh out loud funny. I loved Austin’s point of view which is refreshing to hear the guy tell us the story. No spoilers here. This is the first time I read from this author and won’t be my last. You won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait until the next book in the series!

How do I say.. this book sucked? Like this is legitimately the worst book I’ve ever read. Austin is what the author describes an “Alphahole” 😟 is that supposed to make me interested? The whole story is so confusing like the family dynamic is not spoken about until the final 20ish pages (still don’t understand what Jason did). Erotica in itself was meh, doing the deed in a barn is gross sorry. Wattpad is better, and that’s saying a lot.
the main characters were okay. i wasn't super invested in their story but the romance part was nicely done. i've always liked romances where the hero fell for the heroine faster and there was this trope in mr. pink. this was a fast steamy read.
This was my first time reading a book from this author, so I didn’t go in with any expectations. I liked the book, but I felt like it was missing something—just can’t put my finger on it. There were some funny moment and sexiness to it though! I loved Macey’s character too. I’ll definitely be giving this author another chance and will read another one or start from the beginning of this series to get a better picture.

Mr. Pink is my first Tessa Layne book, and I was pleasantly surprised by it. I received an ARC of it for an honest review, and I had read some of the reviews for her other books. However, I do that quite often and find myself disappointed with the book. Mr. Pink has a lot of really great things "going for it:" 1. The main hero Austin seems irredeemable. I mean, he is a self-professed "man-ho" who seeks nothing out of life except bedding women and living off of his trust fund. It takes most of the book for Austin to figure out he can actually love another human being (or two) (by the way, that was my one frustration with this book --- it took him too long...almost to the end of the book to figure it out). However, as is the case with most playboy billionaire types in romance, it takes the love (and body) of one woman to help him change. Macey McCaslin lives up to that role in this book. 2. I like the setting of wineries for this book. Through Austin, we come to learn more about this business venture, and it's always interesting to read stories in different industries. 3. Macey McCaslin is a powerful woman in her own right. It isn't just her mind and her soul; it is also her body. These three together are her power, and they help Austin to find himself as a powerful man. I love strong women in romance. She has her flaws; however, her power is greater than her flaws.
Now, as I mentioned before, I would have liked for Austin to find redemption in the story sooner. He was quite the jerk for most of it. Even more, this story is told strictly from his point of view (I have no problem with a single point of view), but it would have been nice to get into Macey's head a bit more. Having the dual point of view would have added more texture, I think.
That being said, I know that Layne plans for a three man series (Austin is a triplet), and she plans to continue with the single point of view. Therefore, I understand her choice.
Overall, I would recommend this story, especially if you like sexy, dirty, seemingly irredeemable playboys who find themselves through a strong powerful woman.
I have to say when I first saw this title I didn't get the connection to any of Tessa's previous series. Now I get it, this series is about Jason Case's half brothers. The Triplets are a source of irritation to their father, and also hold some secrets about Jason that are disturbing. This story really started with the wine-tasting in which we saw a different side in A Hero's Home.
I fell in love with Macey and her daughter Sophie in A Hero's Heart and as they appeared in other books I truly wanted Macey to get her happily ever after. The person to fill that would need to be very special indeed, what with Jason and Sterling watching out for them.
Now Austin and his brother Declan have quite the reputation with the ladies and their father is sick of it, he's cut off their trust fund deposits and ordered them to Jason's vineyard. They have to make a perfect wine in order to get their money flowing again.
Apparently Austin and Macey have hooked up a couple of times, but Macey was the last person he expected to see and for her to be the sommelier was quite the surprise. Arranging to meet outside of the vineyard would be even tougher, since Jason has told him hands off. Of course that isn't going to stop either of them.
As Austin finds himself falling deeper with Macey a circumstance has him babysitting for Sophie.
The interactions between Austin and Sophie had me giggling every single time. Even though he doesn't think he's father material, he does quite well.
On the other hand, I truly feared my kindle would start melting in my hand when he and Macey are together. Yet in spite of that Austin does learn what he's supposed to. However, it's the things he discovers while checking the various Case vineyards for a grape from which to make his wine, that will be a major turning point.
Plenty of family drama, and revelations that will make your jaw drop especially if you've read the Resolution Ranch books with Millie and Jason. Plus a surprise or two.
I really enjoyed the sizzling start to this trilogy. I cant wait to read mr. white, Declan's story.
Mr. Pink is the first book in the Case Brothers series, but connects to Ms. Layne’s Cowboys of Flint Hills and Resolution Ranch worlds. Austin has been banished to his brother’s winery in the middle of nowhere, but in just 90 days, his trust fund will be safe and secure. His plans get a wrench thrown in when he sees Macey, the woman he can’t keep his mind off of. She has baggage and he is a notorious rich playboy, but maybe, just maybe, they can help each other and find some fun before he heads back to his life. That is what he wants still, right?
This book definitely had a way to suck you in, love every second of reading it, and want so much more! Austin and Macey definitely had an interesting relationship that stemmed from amazing desire, helping each other through some difficult times, and shockingly building heavier emotional connections. Austin is a bit of a cocky jerk, but his arrogance works for him, he’s driven, he’s devoted, and I loved watching him realize that he’s made for so much more than just a playboy lifestyle. Macey has a lot of depth to her, with being a widow and having a daughter, coming from a winery background, and trying to fight her attraction to Austin, but she was fun and caring. They made an amazing team with the vineyard, and their passion could be felt through the pages. I actually really enjoyed that this was solely from Austin’s point of view, and I bet it was a lot of fun to write! This book was fun, fast paced, steamy with a bit of sweet thrown in here and there, and most of all, it felt real. There’s real emotions that Austin has to work through that anyone would have to in these situations, and I just love feeling connected to the town and characters because of this! Amazing book, a great start to these complex and cocky brothers, and I am really excited for the next one!
Tessa Austin brings even more characters to life in the spin off romance. You can't help but fall in love with Austin and his brooding alpha personality and Macey with her sweet fiery spirit.
Austin Case has grown up with a silver spoon in his mouth. He skates by in life off the money from his trust fund and he doesn't believe in relationships.
Until he comes across the witty, fiery redhead who he can't get off his mind.
But now his trust fund has been frozen and the only way for him to receive his money is to work in Prairie, KS with the brother who he loathes and come up with a new wine for his families business.
But the fiery redhead is there at the next turn.
Macey McCaslin has been through life's ups and downs. Raising a child by herself after her late husband left the world. She is now helping his best friend in the wine industry.
Having grown up in a vineyard in California she knows all about wines. What she doesn't know is that she is about to take on the job of helping her one night stand know more about wine.
But As they increasingly grow together in responses to each other past hurts push them away.
I have been a fan of Mrs. Layne's for awhile now so I was very excited to hear she was starting a new series. As a fan of her cowboys, I was interested to see her new direction.
I have to say that I had a hard time in the very beginning of the book, I like my hero to be cocky but not so arrogant. This would be how I would describe Austin. There wasn't very many redeemable qualities about him and other than being really good in bed, so I couldn't see the appeal for Macey.
However, after awhile Austin started to grow on me when he started to let his walls down. I loved the parts when he was the most vulnerable. When he had to take care of Macey's daughter and believing he's not a kid person. I loved reading about Macey's daughter pushing boundaries and him catching on. Watching Austin grow in the book was really interesting to read.
Macey was a woman that I admired. She was someone who was dealt a huge blow when her husband died and has done an amazing job putting her life together. She seems to be a wonderful and caring mom and coworker and friend.
This book is full of complicated family dynamics that came as a surprise, especially since most of them were not sweetness and light moments.
I didn't realize I had already read about Austin's half brother Jason, until I remembered his story is "A Hero's Home: Resolution Ranch". I had no idea these four brothers had a background that was so intense.
I did enjoy the witty dialogue between Austin and Macey. Macey was strong, independent, intelligent, and knew exactly what she wanted. I liked that Austin referred to Macey's daughter, Sophie, as "wild child". She definitely wasn't your typical romance novel perfect child. I think that is what made her so likeable. She was not perfect, but she was sweet.
It did take a while for Austin to grow on me. He was over the top arrogant, angry, slightly unpleasant, and seemingly useless. That is, until you start pulling back the layers to see what was beneath the thick skin.
I look forward to reading Dec's and Nico's stories. I'm sure they will be as interesting as Austin's. After all, they are triplets.

This is a bad boy alpha romance. I was surprised that I didn’t want to put this book down. This book is written from the males point of view. Austin is a rich, spoiled, and entitled playboy. He has zero interest in the families wine business other than the money it provides for him to live his lifestyle. Austin’s farther wants him and his twin brother to learn about the business and he freezes his trust fund in order to get him to focus on the business. Macey grew up around wine and she is a sommelier who’s an expert on fine wine as well as on wine and food pairings. She is a widow and single Mom who works for Austin’s stepbrother Jason. The two meet at a wine pairing and end up having a hot one night stand. When Austin is forced to spend 90 days learning the business from his stepbrother he runs across the women and one night stand he can’t seem to forget. Austin knows his brother will kill him if he tries to start anything with Macey. Will Austin finally grow up and take on some responsibility? Will Austin ever have a chance to with Macey? I received an arc copy of this book and am volunteering to leave a review.
I have read all of the books in the sister series to this one and have really enjoyed them. The Flint Hills feels like a real place with real people. I always think when I am writing a review that I should be able to jump in my truck and drive there and meet all of these people, that is how real it feels. After saying all of that I would have to say that Mr. Pink is my favorite of them all. I have often wondered who would have a chance at winning Macey’s heart after everything she has been through and when I first started reading the book I couldn’t believe that Austin was the man for her, but as the story unfolds, Austin’s mainly, it becomes obvious that they were meant to have meet at that point in their lives and teach each other how to navigate to the next point in their life journeys together. The emotional growth that Austin goes through is wonderful told. Great writing, Great Story. I can’t wait to read about the other Case brothers. Well done!
Wow, where to start? The sizzling, too hot, beautiful couple sneaking sexy time at every opportunity, or the interesting, disjunctional, wealthy wine empire family, or the fabulous cast of characters in Prairie. I loved the hot stud player, Austin and his comeuppance when he meets his Gorgeous. Macey has a load of sadness in her past but she melts when the player sets his sights on her. There’s so much more to this story than just the steamy romance. So many family dynamics, some good and some bad but makes for a great read. Terrific writing and wonderful characters makes this story flow and engrossing until the end. I really like the male POV and the wine culture in the story. I can’t wait for the next story about the hot Case brothers and I’ve got some catching up to do with the Prairie hunks. Mr. Pink ❤️! Sensational story with lots of steam. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Wine and renewal I really liked how, thanks to his attraction to a widow (Macey) with a child, Austin who until then was rather arrogant, is rebuilding a culture of the vine which is his family heritage, but which has two faces: one of an expensive but mediocre wine from the multinational of his father who threatens his two brothers and him (they are triplets) to take away their rent; and the other one from his elder brother who produces a wine that is better produced with respect for the product, but who is also the man who broke his childhood and with whom he has to learn alongside the one he succumbed to. He takes his father's proposal to learn with his brother, to keep his money, but his real fear remains the nature of his relationship with Macey, and what it would imply. It's a pretty amazing assemblage of personalities that gives a good vintage :) I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I absolutely fell in love with the characters of Macey, a sommelier, a widow, with a 5 year old daughter, Sophia and Austen, a wealthy member of the Case winemaking family. He encounters Macey and they share a one night stand, but when they are thrown together everyday and they can’t keep their hands off each other they decide to make the most of it, and then when the time comes, say goodbye. His half brother, Jason was a friend to Macey’s husbands who was in the service with him, so Jason feels very protective of her and her daughter. Austen fights his growing feelings for Macey as she learns his cocky attitude and spending is but a front for a generous man. The storyline is sharp and intriguing and the sexual chemistry was enough to fog up my glasses. Tessa Layne is a masterful writer and I look forward to the other books about the Case brothers.
Just like a great bottle of wine - smooth, sexy and full of pleasure. I love this spin-off series!
Austin and Macey have immediate and undeniable chemistry to go along with their hot and steamy intimacies that seem to happen anytime and anywhere. They try to keep it as a fling while Austin reluctantly learns the wine business at his brother, Jason's vineyard in Prairie but, Macey is too tempting for him to keep his hands to himself and, their attraction is unstoppable. It also becomes more interesting as Sophie, Macey five year old daughter is put in Austin's care. Their time together and conversations are priceless.
These characters are so interesting and have so many emotions that they try to hide, it becomes their bump in the road. Can Macey get past her husband's suicide? Can Austin get past his hatred towards Jason and his family? It is a romantic drama worth reading. I could not put the book down.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
A great new series, based in Prairie but linking to Napa and the heart of US wine country.
It was great start to the series, getting to know the triplets and some of their history, understanding their characters and what drives them... especially Austin, who on the surface is shallow, focused on money and just having a good time. If that is all you can see, then you need to listen to his actions, not just the words he used to try and protect a fragile heart.
Macey has had challenges of her own, and her heart is just a little fractured, but not broken. She is a strong woman who will keep persevering, giving up is not an option, and has a heart so large that she can’t help but love.
A great book, and I can’t wait for the next instalments!!
