The author is a leader in the field, and deserves to be. She's sharp, funny, a clear communicator, and SUPER great with visualizing data.

I previously read Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic's "Storytelling with Data." I'm glad I read both, and I'm glad I read them in the order that I did. The Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic book is a very high-level combination of math, ELA, art, and ethics. While Stephanie Evergreen's book certainly had some of that, its focus was much more on the technical how-to. Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic gave me the big picture, and Stephanie Evergreen gave me the step-by-step directions.

I imagine keeping Stephanie Evergreen's book for a long time as reference material. Anytime I need to create an actual graph, I'll be turning to her book for the steps on how to do it.

Great book for balancing hands on work with Excel and a few other platforms along with learning why one visualization may be better than the other. When reading the book it is important to have time to walk through on your computer how to complete each step. It will make the reading longer, but is super helpful. The visualization chooser on the front cover and back cover are handy. I also like that the author doesn't just use presets, they challenge the reader to be creative on how the job can get done. Very good book.
