The EPIC saga continues!

In the aftermath of their confrontation in front of the Elders, Cami Bakersfield and her illegitimate cousin Miranda are effectively on house arrest, locked down in the Keane mansion awaiting the arrival of a brother and sister from another ‘wellspring’ dragon family to buffer and control their abilities while they learn responsibility and work out their relationship.

But what the cousins aren’t counting on is that the Azar siblings have their own family drama, their own schemes, and their own motives at play…

Once again, Cami and her cousin Miranda were prisoners, wearing iron chains to suppress her draconic abilities, the Elders deciding the two of them would live in the same house—the Keane mansion Cami had inherited—and would have supervision and oversight from another ‘wellspring’ family, the Azars, obviously to gain control of them – they were basically house arrest guards and also there to see if they could get Cami and Miranda to get along with each other. She hated house arrest! But as her mate Gabriel pointed out, she is the Chosen One and will never have the privacy she would like, at least in the dragon culture. And with these Azar overseers present it would be difficult for Cassandra, the Seer, to keep training her to strengthen her abilities. Their new guards arrived and Cami went out to meet them, allowing Miranda to be predictably late and embarrassed. The gorgeous man introduced himself as Navid and his sister as Nima. Cami then introduced her mates, Nicholas Overton, Alistair Overton, Dylan Johns-Overton, and Gabriel Egan. Miranda’s mate Elijah had not shown up, and her almost-mate Jamie Egan was sulking, so again Cami outdid her.

As they began discussion of how this would work, Nima mentioned that more than helping Cami and Miranda get along, their job was to stop their being actively at war and putting the rest of dragon-kind at risk. Nima saw herself as a mediator and not their jailer.

But what Cami and Miranda aren’t counting on is that the Azar siblings have their own family drama, their own schemes, and their own motives at play. Nima told them if they cooperate, they will go easy on them and tell the Elders they are cooperating. The cousins couldn’t retaliate anyway with the iron bracelets holding their power in check. But Navid added that, if they fight them, they will do whatever it takes to get the job done to the satisfaction of the Elders.

Cami was not happy and her mates joined her to discuss later how they could get the Azars on their side and trusting them. Jordan or Alexander, not being one of Cami’s mates and therefore not suspicious, might get Nima to open up. Alistair suggested Cami herself could work on Navid. Nicholas preferred to make Nima the weak link. Would they get their plans lined up? Would they get any control over the “jailers” or was there more at stake than they realized?

This book has lots of twists and turns and betrayals as the two dragon families, the Egans and the Overtons, continue to fulfill the prophecies while tensions lie under the surface. The Elders are still being heavy-handed in keeping Cami locked up and controlled. There is a great deal of action packed into this story, so be sure to grab your copy and see who gets their way in this struggle. There will be many surprises for the reader along the way!

the only takeaway from this story is the repetitive language

I’m here’s only so many times I can handle something being said “wryly.” It’s brain melting. BUT, other than that, I truly like the way the series has gone. The spice is kind of predictable at this point but thankfully I also read for the plot ;)

This book had plenty of action and amazing characters. They are locked in a mansion waiting for something to happen. But not all what it seems. Seems like they have other agendas of there only. Who knows what’s going to happen.

After all the good writing Samantha Snow has done. Book 20 has been the most entertaining and I am so game of three heirs getting control. Go Samantha.

Books are getting better, more action.Cami should just either get rid of the elders or take the guys that are trying to suit her to make another section to work with the elders
