For Princess Cecile, marriage has always been an inevitable. As the unloved illegitimate child of a neglectful king, she had hardened her heart to the fact that she would be sold off to the most convenient groom her father could find. However, when it soon becomes clear that her impending marriage would be to that of the notoriously sadistic Emperor Estian, she throws all caution to the wind. If she was to die by her husband's hand, she was going to go down fighting.
Unexpectedly, however, she endures her wedding with her head intact and one night, the emperor even tells her the secret to surviving within the scheming walls of his palace: she must conquer him in infamy and forge a name even more fearsome than his own.
Can Cecile become the villain her tyrant requires? Or will she succumb to the dangers of the empire?
So...how to describe or discuss this book? It's one of those stories that starts out silly and gets much, much weirder the longer you read. Cecile, an illegitimate princess, is basically offered up as a sacrifice to the tyrannical emperor (who rules over all the kings), but when she gets to the wedding, she panics and makes up a bunch of spurious "traditions" from her home kingdom to stave him off. This fascinates the emperor (who knows what she's doing), and within minutes he's fallen head-over-heels for her. But he's a psycho tyrant (or at least has that reputation), so the only way to keep her safe from everyone gunning for him is to have her pretend to be psycho villainess.
Normal enough, right?
BUT THEN! We discover that this whole world was originally a web novel written by a woman who specifically wrote it so that she could be transported into Cecile's body, but when Cecile went off script, she ended up in the body of a side character, which is unacceptable. So she heads for the imperial palace to kill Cecile and get her fictional man back. Then there's a weird immortal mage, a random dragon, and Cecile's lady-in-waiting who turns out to be a martial arts whiz, and Cecile saves the day with an in-world light novel that just magically had a dragon-subduing spell in it.
Even if this feels like a review full of spoilers, it really isn't. This is one of those books where the WTF factor isn't stopped by something as petty as plot points.
3.5, rounded down because there were a few moments where I just shrieked, "Oh come ON" at the book.
A Villainess for the Tyrant".

Tanto sta già per morire, no?

Perché ho dato solo tre stelline e mezzo?
Eccoci nella parte critica di questa recensione. 😅
Ovvero "The Villain's sevior".
Okay…as I sit here and think about what the hell I just read….I’m still so totally confused.
So this girl named Cecile, she’s the illegitimate daughter of the Navitan king, and she was told one day that she’s going to get married. She should be excited…right? WRONG. She wasn’t excited. Instead, she found out that the man she was marrying was a motherfreakin’ Tyrant. That tyrant’s name is Emperor Estian, who is a sadist. For real. He killed off his freaking family because he’s, to me, paranoid like a certain Hybrid named Flaus Hikenson on a certain show. He even conquered whole ass kingdoms and rule with an iron fist.
So why the hell does someone this insane want to marry?
To have kids? To want an Empress?
To have someone one on his side?
Well that was the idea. But then as you keep on reading, it turns out after they got married, that’s when you realize that Emperor Estian is the most handsome man ever-who is whipped after seeing her. Every night he’s with her, while also ruling his country with an iron fist. One night, he told her that there was a way for her to survive this world, this kingdom of hers.
He wanted her…
…to become a villainess with a most horrible reputation than him.
Cecile accepted, and she started to become the most horrible villainess that the kingdom had ever seen.
Meanwhile, there was a saintess who was actually the author…who was the villainess himself. She wanted to be the one who wanted to be in Cecile’s body so she could be Empress and be with the man she created. She was so furious that she broke the barrier that kept the saintess inside and ran off to a casino, where she lost a lot of money and then became a lady in waiting to someone she created, just so she can watch Cecile die and she can be in her body and she can be with her man that she created. When that didn’t happen, she went inside the room-and saw the dragon she made the final villain in the novel, and helped beat the snot out of the dragon, thus turning it into a small dog.
But it was Cecile that helped out a lot, using a spell from a romance novel to subdue the dragon. Once all of it was over, that’s when shit hit the fan-the saintess might be in a obsession route, and Cecile might get yelled at by her husband. Oof.
I read through all of this, and it was a beautiful trip. I loved every bit of it and I might read more, I don’t know, but it’s interesting.
This was funny! Quite charming in its own way, although some elements weren’t quite to my taste.
Things were going a little differently than what she had expected.
This is a quintessentially over-the-top light novel that pokes fun at romance tropes and uses the isekai format in a different way than usual. It contains the “scary exterior, soft interior” trope for Emperor Estian, the male lead. Cecile makes for an interesting protagonist as she has to pretend to be even worse than Estian, despite neither of them really being that bad at all (personality wise - Estian has committed some war crimes for sure).
The writing in this is very intentionally cheeky. Veering into comedy more often than not, maintaining a light-hearted tone. The magic of the world is kinda dumped onto you in a quick way, instead focusing more on character interactions. Which, admittedly, is where the comedy shines.
I think the biggest thing pulling this down for me was the constant swapping between characters. If they had been separated into distinct chapters with names attached, it maybe would have felt less jarring. As it was, I felt like we got less time with Cecile and Estian because of it.
I’m unsure if I’ll continue this series, but I would still recommend it to those that found the synopsis entertaining!
Because of the last scene with the dragon, I’m giving this book 2 stars. I absolutely hated the ending and it makes me not want to attempt the next book….. it was so bad and blah. Too much occurred all at once. Also, the writing style was like “I’m the author so I’m just gonna write it this way for no reason because whatevs I can do what I want even if it is random”.
….Like, that’s fine and all, but it just because too much for me. I do like an overpowered character, but they gotta follow other criteria as well. While this felt more like, these characters are overpowered and you will like them because I tell you to not because I’ve shown you all their progress so you will fall in love with them.
Probably one of the BEST manwhas ever! This one was a hidden gem and so glad I was recommend this one. The MMC was not the typical toxic character role (like in some manwhas) and the FMC was refreshing. I love that there was no miscommunication trope and both characters were able to communicate their feelings, worries, and thoughts. Cause the miscommunication trope in Manwhas are so typical and infuriating. I LOVE all the side characters and everyone got a HEA. Love the little epilogue and extra side stories!
Not what I would call well written, but it was entertaining and a slightly different take on the transmigration theme. The characters used modern language and mannerisms, which wasn’t in line with the fantasy setting, and sometimes I found Cecile irritating. I’m not sure if the original text was better, but I felt the translation was awkward in places. It was all pretty absurd, but I generally enjoyed it anyway.
The story was interesting and the set up was a bit different. Neither character felt like a villainess or a tyrant but usually a bit of hyperbole with such titles. And it seemed like that was their goal rather than their nature. The book was a bit of an awkward read, I am not sure if this is the translation or the set-up.

The plausibility of this story is zero, even for a fantasy setting, but once you get past that and approach it as a farce there are some pretty funny moments. The twists and turns and unexpected plot devices kept me reading just to see what the neck the author would throw in next. I don't think I will continue with the rest of the series though.
Entertaining and funny, a nice light read to relax with. Makes fun of various Tropes by throwing them into the story like croutons on a salad. Could have used a stronger ending, that was way too abrupt. Will likely read the next one, but expect better editing to allow a stronger ending.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Estian sends a letter for Celine to be his bride and her father sends her. There is no love between father and daughter and in a fit, Celine makes outrageous demands upon her arrival. This catches Estian's interest and he marries her. The book is strange and seems the writer is trapped within the story.
Fantastic main plot, but the subplots were kind of eh. The main characters feel very indulgent, and I am always here for OP male leads going ‘What If I Tell The World To Fuck Itself And Spend My Days Cuddling My Wife Instead’
Another one where the lead lady is like a head of wilted lettuce. It’s fine if you like that kind of thing, but the description made her sound a lot more active and opinionated.
I don't know what it says about me that I keep randomly finding this manga that are "author falls into her own work" tropes because this is like the third one now, I think? But this one is a little different. The author doesn't become a main character, which is an interesting twist.
And Estian and Cecile? *chef's kiss* on Estian slowly realizing he loves her and it's the monster everyone thinks he is.
The webtoon style book is amazing! This was a book I couldn’t put down. The cover is what drew me In and the storyline kept me hooked. It does end on a to be continued but not a full on cliff hanger.
