Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin is the oldest university in Ireland and one of the oldest in Europe. Established in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth 1, it has a central part (both physically and philosophically) in the story of Dublin for 400 years. It also has a unique institution as apart from its role as a leading teaching and research establishment, it is also home to the world renowned Book of Kells and Old Library Building. Details on these magnificent treasures along with the history of the college, its famous alumni, the buildings and grounds and current student life are all outlined within this booklet. Fascinating images many unseen before, help to chronicle the architecture and art works which can be enjoyed by visitors, staff and students alike in this oasis of learning in the very heart of the capital city.
Got it in the gift shop, it was the perfect souvenir. Big full color pictures and interesting facts about the college. I like how it walks you through the founding, a history of the buildings, and finally details about the main attraction- the Old Library and Book of Kells.
I wish there was a picture of the cover in this Goodreads entry, it really is beautiful. Really glad I brought it home.
This is a concise history of Trinity College that includes a quick look at it today. The book contains photographs, a map of the campus, and a good section on further reading.
