The first kiss wrecked their friendship. Could a second chance lead to love?
English teacher Bella isn’t having much luck with her love life. No matter who she dates, no one seems to measure up to Mike: the ex-bestie she shared a drunken kiss with ten years ago, which led to the end of their friendship…
When Bella comes face-to-face with Mike at their university reunion, sparks fly. He’s smart, funny and even hotter than before, and despite trying to fight her feelings, Bella still can’t get him out of her head.
But after what happened the last time she stepped out of the friend zone, Bella isn’t in a hurry to be rejected all over again.
Should Bella risk more heartache by telling Mike how she really feels? Could the attraction be mutual? Or is it finally time to put her past behind her and say goodbye to a second chance at love, forever?

Okay, I’ve got to be quick as the next class is due in soon…
Why oh why have I never read Olivia Spring before? *throws arms in air*
Me? Melodramatic? *tuts* Never. *smirks*
Honestly though, peeps! I devoured MTYC in a day. There was no way I was moving from the sofa, unless necessary (a woman has needs – oi, enough of that!) until I found out what happened.
Crushes are the worst, aren’t they? You experience the highest of highs and the lowest of lows as your hormones hurtle around an emotional rollercoaster. I have had a couple of doozies in my time *cringes*, buuutt let’s just leave that there shall we… *whistles*.
I connected with Bella straight away. Her need for routine and fear of putting herself out there. Especially when her success rate is a tad questionable to say the least. I adored her quirkiness, sense of humour and, most of all, her heart. There are no half measures when it comes to Bella. If she’s in, she’s all in, and her heart has never been ‘out’ when it comes to Mike.
One of Bella’s best friends, Melody, used a phrase which I believe is very apt when it comes to Mike. Mike will indeed give you fanny flutters. *snorts* Oops, my bad, am I TMI’ing again… All I’ll say is this, Mike + grey sweatpants = FF! *belly laughs*
I love a great friends-to-lovers romcom and MTYC is one of the best I’ve read this year. The whole ‘will they or won’t they?’ tension together with the ‘grind your teeth’ moments courtesy of certain characters.
I laughed, cried, and swooned my way through the story. I was not expecting that spice factor – *whispers out side of mouth* not that I’m complaining.
*sighs*
I look forward to another dose of OS goodness soon.
Helen’s Fielding has a lot to answer for given how many pathetic imitations of Bridget Jones’s Diary have been released in the 25 years since her book was first published.
The fmc, Bella, has less than no self-respect. At 31, she works for her father who refuses to promote her and insists that she still drink milk using both hands to hold onto her sippy cup at dinner. She gets overwhelmed and frightened of doing things like going grocery shopping or doing laundry. She dresses like a toddler, gets falling down, blackout drunk from a single alcoholic beverage, and is incapable of thinking for herself unless she is fantasizing about some guy she knew from university 13 years prior. Bella quite literally cannot hold a single thought in her head for more than a moment without drifting off into day-dreams about a man she hasn’t seen or spoken to in fully 10 years. I particularly liked the part where her mental and emotional maturity was equated to that of a middle schooler.
Wow! Once I had started reading the flaming thing, I had to find out what happened in the end. So I was skipping through it! Worst romantic comedy, ever!!!
So Bella is a teacher at her dads school, where he is the headmaster. She has fish on Wednesdays, pizza on Friday, etc. You get the idea! She’s sad and lonely as relationships always fail and she’s still in love with her best friend Mike from uni. She made a pass at him then but he turned her down. Years later she meets Mike at a reunion and convinces herself that he’s too good looking for her, and that he’s seeing all these other women. Then in a bizarre twist of fate, he is her tutor when she’s in a course. So he starts spending time with her, and they start seeing each other.
I just really really can’t emphasise how bad this book is. I couldn’t stand Bella! She’s so boring and rigid. Her life is controlled by her father and fear of the unknown. And yes she does change and grow. But sadly, I still hated her character! Mike wasn’t much better. For someone who supposedly seizes the day, why didn’t he tell her his feelings, for TEN YEARS!! Why didn’t he pursue her when she was ignoring him? Why didn’t she meet him and discuss what happened??? Why he rejected her?
I’m an anxious person, but if I want something, I go for it, and I found her insipid and weak! And him!
And for a romantic comedy, can I just say, I DIDN’T LAUGH ONCE!!! Just awful!
I can't get enough of Olivia Springs books and get super excited as soon as I hear a new one is do out out. I counted down for 'My Ten Year Crush' and it didn't disappoint! Can't wait for 'My Lucky Night' I'm back on count down!
As a single woman who teaches in a secondary school and lives in london I definitely felt a connection. I don’t think I have my own leading man to sweep me away though sadly! I did really enjoy the story and the imagery as I know a lot of the places mentioned though.
“It was time to be brave and start facing my fears”
Reading that quote, you would think the heroine is a badass girl who goes after what she wants.
I’m trying really hard not to give a negative/bad review as I hate doing that. But this book just wasn’t for me.
I was looking forward to reading it as it was the second book my friends and I read for our buddy read. Reading the blurb, we all thought this is going to be “fun, sexy, friends-to-lovers romcom about second chances and stepping out of your comfort zone”. Well, Bella doesn’t step out of her comfort zone at all, it wasn’t that funny either and wouldn’t call it a sexy read/book. I feel horrible to say all these things because I did enjoy the story, but Bella’s behaviour really disappointed me. We are talking about a 31 year old woman, who is deeply in love with her high school crush, but doesn’t do anything about it. If it wasn’t for her mum and friends she would be single forever.
I’m trying to leave my review on a positive note so I’m just going to say that the story is good, but it probably would have been better if the heroine was stronger or if the author didn’t mention the characters’ ages as sometimes I thought we were talking about teenagers… when we were not!
I know everyone is different, but unfortunately this book just wasn’t for me … and I blame Bella for that 😄
I have to say Olivia Spring has done it again, I absolutely loved this book! I can relate in so many ways to our main character, Bella.
She's a great female lead, sure she has her flaws, we all do, but as you read the book you watch as she slowly becomes her true self.
Mike, her " ex best friend", has recently come back into her life and I must say I adored watching them get to be awkward and weird around each other after not seeing one another for 10 years. It made the story so much more relatable!
It was as time never really passed for their friendship and how great chemistry they had as friends and of course as a couple, goals!
I really enjoyed it as it's two of my favorite troupes, friends to lovers and second chance romance ❤.
Thank you the author for providing me with an advanced copy, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series, My Lucky Night, which is Cassies story.
Thank you @ospringauthor for letting me read this it was just what I needed to get my out of a very long reading slump.
From chapter 1 I was invested in Bella’s story and love life when meets her 10 year crush in an unexpected place. Olivia’s books are real page turners for me her writing flows and keeps you wanted to read and see what’s going to happen next.
Im looking forward to reading book 2 soon and discovering Callie’s story and hoping Bella makes an appearance !!
My Ten Year Crush is a fun, lighthearted romantic read about second chances and taking risks. Bella is a great main female lead character- warm and engaging, she is one of those women who likes to have everything planned out- no surprises. Mike, her ex- bestie is the complete opposite, never settling down in one place. I loved how they reconnected after so long apart and brought out the best of eachother again. This is a feel good friends to lovers romance and definitely one to enjoy with a glass of something cold.
i personally loved this book. hadn't picked it up for months but just finished it so seamlessly and it was so easy to get back into. i loved the characters and getting to know their backstory and i just adore everything. i love this little book series so much 🥹💛
Hands down this is my favourite book of Olivia Spring! I could have quite easily binge read this in a day, (if I didn’t have to adult!) but knowing this would give me a major book hangover I made this book last me a while only finishing late last night but already I miss Mike!
Mike is my absolute favourite of Olivia’s male characters, his smart, gorgeous, loveable, gorgeous, funny, gorgeous, caring… did I mention his gorgeous!
Olivia always creates relatable fun characters, I really enjoyed following Bella, a planner at heart I warmed to her immediately. As always in an Olivia Spring book, friendship is a huge part of the story, I adore the friendships in this book Sophia, Cassie and Melody. Friends that are there for you no matter what, fun friendships but more importantly tell you when you’re being an idiot! Brilliant!
Friends to lovers trope.. what’s not to love! I enjoyed the ‘will they, won’t they’ the little twists keeping me hooked until the very end and to ease my book hangover an epilogue that answers all my questions.. for now! More Bella and Mike please!
I have followed and loved Olivia’s books from the beginning and they have gone from strength to strength but ‘My Ten-Year Crush’ is overall my favourite. In my opinion, it’s her best yet!
Olivia, your stories are a joy to read and I cannot wait to read your next one! Yes.. that’s right.. Book two of this series is coming! Featuring Cassie an ‘enemies to lovers’ novella due to be released just in time for Christmas. I cannot wait! Check back on my page later today when I reveal the beautiful cover!
Big thanks to Olivia for asking me to read and review. As always, it’s been a pleasure.
I would just like to say an extremely big thank you to the author for very kindly forwarding me an arc copy of her book, for my Kindle, in return for my honest review. Olivia Spring is one of my all time favourite rom-com authors. I love her books and her wonderful style of writing and on top of all that, she really is a lovely person to talk to! When she asked me to read and review an arc copy of this book for her, I absolutely jumped at the chance and I was so glad that I did, I absolutely loved it!! I really loved everything about this book and it drew me in right from the very beginning and just kept me wanting to read more and more, definitely a page turner! My Ten-Year Crush is a wonderful, romantic read, all about second chances and learning to take a risk. I loved the main characters, Bella and also Mike, her ex best friend. They were the complete opposite of each other but also complemented each other perfectly… I love a friends to lovers trope and this one was perfect, with a few twists and a wonderful feel good romance. This was definitely a five star read and was a wonderful, good time rom com. Yet again Olivia has written an amazing, emotional, satisfying, funny, steamy, romantic book and I definitely cannot wait for the next one!!!
This is my first Olivia Spring novel but I know it will definitely not be my last as I enjoyed this tale immensely and fair devoured it from beginning to end.
Our story is centred around Bella and is written completely from her perspective. That’s not normally my first choice in a book, but it worked in this case as we as readers were as in the dark about Mike and his feelings as Bella herself. This novel is a complete standalone and comes complete with its own HEA.
I’m not sure that I’ve ever read a character that was more ‘me’ than Bella. She’s organised to the point of madness and likes to think things through to infinity before making a decision. She often finds herself in uncomfortable situations because she can’t bring herself to potentially upset someone else. She was unbelievably likeable and while she was a touch self-deprecating, it never came across as whiny and I never felt she was overly down on herself. I just loved her.
Mike through Bella’s eyes was pretty much the perfect man. He’s tall, sexy and ripped - but he’s also sweet, kind, caring and genuinely wants the best for Bella. I also loved the fact that he had a special nickname for Bella and how he was also ridiculously clueless (and perhaps cowardly) in how he handled things with Bella. It made him all the more real.
But it’s when Bella and Mike are together that things really shone for me. Their bond is so evident and they are just perfect together - both as friends and then as something more. They had chemistry in spades and their sex scenes were nicely hot. The desk in the empty classroom? Ooh boy! What I especially loved was that neither of them changed for the other. They liked each other for exactly who they were - quirks and all - and, well, it made my heart happy.
Obviously this is the story of Mike and Bella and their romance but in all honesty it’s so much more, too. Bella is somewhat stuck in her life and her personality and preferences tend to keep her stuck, despite her best efforts. As much as I loved the romance aspect of this story - the way that Bella grows and gains confidence was equally wonderful and frankly inspiring.
On finishing this story I felt the joy and happiness of a satisfying romance… but I also felt incredibly uplifted and positive. I noticed myself thinking of the story throughout the day and almost wishing that I hadn’t finished it so I could go back and live in that world some more. I’m delighted to hear Cassie - Bella’s cousin who had a minor side role in this story - is getting her own book next so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for some Bella and Mike cameos.
This book was a sheer delight for me. I loved the characters, loved their story and loved the positive feelings that I got from reading. A book I would happily recommend and 5 stars from me.
ENG Plot. Isabella is an english teacher and she had this ten year crush with a university mate: Mike. When she thinks she will be promoted in her school the principal, her father, tells her she is not ready and there will be another spot later… She tells this to her friends and one, Sophie, subscribes her to an intensive course, while the other one, Cassie, tries to convince her to participate in a meeting with university colleagues. It’s a romantic comedy: shall I tell you who she meets at the meeting and at the intensive course?
What I think. I think I shall stop for a while to book romantic comedies… The story is basically a whole misunderstanding between Isabella and Mike, they almost continued to misunderstand each other but… for romantic comedies’ sake. I did not appreciate her friends… yeah they are supportive but they kind of really forced her into the situation, so… As for Isabella, I don't know. I am an introverted person, so I really know how much work we do in our head, but she was sometimes really too much and a bit repetitive.
This book is the first of other 3 books: My lucky night, with Cassie as main character, The Middle Aged Virgin and The Middle Aged Virgin in Italy with Sophia as main character. Other than characters related I don’t know if it is better to read them in order or not.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Title: My Ten-Year Crush Author: Olivia Spring Hero/Heroine: Mike & Bella Trope: Friends to Lovers
THE GOOD 😀
I have to say that this is my favourite book of Olivia Spring’s. Feel good, funny and oh so steamy, I adored the story of Mike and Bella and their renewed friendship after ten years apart. Having worked as a teacher at the same school for the last nine years and getting turned down for yet another promotion, Bella feels like her life has reached a bit of a stalemate. When she somewhat reluctantly attends her ten year university reunion, it’s there where she runs into her old best mate (and crush) Mike. And this, for me, is when the story really kicked off. Deciding to take an additional teaching course to get her out of her rut, Bella is surprised to find out who her tutor is. Having made a deal with herself to stay away from Mike after seeing him at the reunion, she suddenly finds it increasingly hard to remember the reasons why she shouldn’t get involved with him. Mike and Bella were an incredible pairing: having known each other for so long, the chemistry between them was unreal, and with all the near misses they seemed to have, it all just added to the tension building between them. Also, they have a very interesting use for an empty classroom, just sayin’ (IYKYK). From misunderstandings to life changing decisions, Mike and Bella take the reader on one hell of a journey, and I loved every bit of it. Olivia Spring has the innate talent of creating relatable characters that you can’t help but love.
THE BAD ☹️
I have to admit I didn’t really like Bella’s Dad, I found him to be quite overbearing. However, as the story progresses, you come to understand the reason why he is the way he is, which in turn changed my opinion of him.
Thank you to the author for providing a copy of this for me to read. This is my honest review.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: A humourous and engaging friends to lovers romance with wonderful characters STEAM LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥 STAR RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Although I mostly enjoyed this book I have to say, Bella is one of the most frustratingly boring characters I’ve ever come across and at times it was a bit slow paced for my liking.
Sure, it was nice that she fell in love with her high school crush but towards the end I was really done with her shit. It was at the part where Mike asked her to join him that I actually said out loud “dear lord mike just go without her” because she was just being so tedious with the whole “everything needs to be planned meticulously” thing. Idk maybe it’s cos we just came through a pandemic and we haven’t had that luxury for a few years now. Idk, I just didn’t really see what Mike was getting from her really with the neuroticism, she didn’t really seem to have any interests outside of her job which y’know, is a bit weird.
Talking of weird, I thought her father was forgiven a little too easily for his controlling behaviour, I get that he was protective but there were a LOT of red flags that weren’t down to his life experiences. Telling your daughter who she can date and where she can work at the age of 31 is not just a trauma response.
It all wrapped up a bit too nicely in the end, suddenly she just wasn’t neurotic and within 24 hours she had sorted out every single problem she had. I didn’t think it was realistic in that respect.
On the plus side, the sex scenes were fairly hot, I liked the messages about seizing the day (even if they didn’t necessarily fit with her character) and I thought the writer did a good job of creating chemistry between the characters. Would I read it again? No but as a one of read it’s not the worst book I’ve read recently
Olivia’s writing is so light and fluent that it is so easy to get fully immersed in her books and the characters very quickly became people that you think you know in real life.
I sailed through this book and was fully invested in Bella, not just in her love interest and ten year long crush Mike, but also in her career and family life. It was pretty obvious that she was going to end up bumping into Mike at the University reunion (that she definitely wasn’t going to) but I didn’t expect what came after…
She really is getting held back by her father but doesn’t seem to fully see it so she needs a bit of extra pushing from her friends to enrol in a course that she has wanted to do for ages. Hopefully this course will be the start of something new for Bella and will push her forward for the next promotion.
As with any friends to lovers trope you can kind of see where the story is going but alarm bells were definitely ringing as the book progressed. I didn’t quite trust Mike and got the impression that there was something he was holding back that was going to burst Bella’s happy bubble. There were a few key pointers that I felt Bella just ignored because she was fully ‘in’ to the situation and didn’t want anything to spoil it.
Of course the ending was spot on and I loved the epilogue! Plus the fact that it was ten years later as you really got to see what had happened with all the characters in the long term rather than just 6 months later. Definitely recommend reading this and I can’t wait for Olivia’s next instalment, also I need to read Sophia’s story, The Middle-Aged Virgin as doesn’t that sound good!!!
Okay I am really struggling to write this review, purely because I really don’t like to give negative reviews. However I am always honest no matter what the book is like for me, so I have to be with negative ones too. I do like to try and point out the good and I hope my reviews are more constructive criticism than just negative.
So this book is meant to be a romantic comedy, honestly I didn’t see that, I didn’t laugh once and it just seemed kind of sad. (Don’t get me wrong I like a sad, emotional rollercoaster as much as the next person but this wasn’t that either, it was simply bland)
I absolutely loved the sound of this book, me and friends choose it as a buddy read and we loved the idea. The author really sold it on the book description, I am just really disappointed.
Our two leads are Bella and Mike. Best friend for years and then after one kiss don’t see each other again for 10 years..
I liked Mike more than Bella, I think if he had a better leading lady he may of had potential. He was kinda fun, kinda cute but also kinda bland. He’s all about living in the moment and seizing the day, that doesn’t come across when it comes to the two of them. If he really was about that why didn’t he tell her sooner, why wait 10 years and only out of convenience of a reunion, not out of doing it himself did he do anything.
Bella is one of the most boring and rigid characters I have ever read. She was just blah 😑 the whole thing could have been avoided if she had stoped interrupting him for two minutes. She was ‘madly’ in love with him but didn’t really do anything about it. Needed her friends or mum to continuously push her into things.
The whole book seemed to be about her work and not much more. Yeah they get together, moments of spice. But there wasn’t any character development or growth, just seemed really slow and then really rushed if that even makes sense.
Maybe dark romances have ruined me who knows normally I love a bit of everything 🤷🏻♀️
This book follows Bella, an English teacher with a dwindling love life and a career that isn’t progressing when she finds out that her long-lost friend, Mike, is back in town for her university’s ten year reunion. The same Mike who she was (and probably still is) madly in love with. It’s a classic friends to lovers story, it didn’t take a lot to figure out how it was going to end but it was fun to read the journey there. Bella was a frustrating but also incredibly relatable character. She has such a fear of rejection that there are so many opportunities in her life that she has thrown away or they’ve passed her by, I get the fear of rejection but she spends a lot of time complaining that she’s lost out and it’s hard to feel sorry for her. Thankfully, she does experience some character development towards the end. The best part of the book was reading about her incredibly supportive female friends, who were constantly there for her pushing her in the right direction. It would have been nice to read more about the friendships and less about the romance but then I guess it wouldn’t be a romance book. After finishing the book, I saw that the next book in the series is about Belle’s cousin and friend, Cassie so it’s one I definitely want to read as Cassie was a great character and seemed to have a bit more about her than Bella. The book was an easy read and definitely good if you don’t want anything too heavy or need to read something by the pool.
Bella was devastated when a first kiss with her best friend, Mike, wrecked their friendship. He went away and they lost contact with each other, because it hurt too much. Now no one she dates compares to Mike. Ten years, and she still can’t get over him.
When Bella and Mike see each other at their university reunion, he is even better than he was in the past. His personality sparkles and Bella wants him in her life. But the pain of losing him back then is holding her back. Should she tell him how she feels? Or should she get over him finally and walk away before her heart breaks again?
Like so many of the foolish notions people get, Bella jumped to false conclusions when she was drunk and kissed Mike for the first time. She never let him finish what he tried to tell her. When he claimed it was a mistake, it was not at all what she thought it meant. When he left, he had a valid reason which she never let him tell her. And when he tried to contact her, she wouldn’t connect because she figured she knew how he felt. Open communication is absolutely critical in any kind of relationship. When you make up your own stories in your head, you usually get it wrong. And it cost her 10 years she could have had with the man she has always loved. Will she give him that chance finally to explain? Or will she throw it all away again?
The story English teacher Bella teaches at the school she went to, and where her father is the head teacher. She has just been passed over for promotion and is feeling really hurt about it. She knows that she wants more from life but as a perpetual planner, it takes supreme effort to get there. It’s also her ten year reunion and her ex-best friend Mike is going to be there. They didn’t speak much after an uncomfortable incident in the past, but he wants to see her. When she signs up for second language English teaching classes in her holidays, he’s now her tutor as well. Is the universe trying to tell her something?
My thoughts This sweet story tells how Bella and Mike almost don’t leave the friend zone. Despite both being English teachers, they struggle to communicate the hard stuff and especially when it comes to sharing their feelings! Olivia Spring has created a series with a group of family who are friends and this is the first story in that series. I loved how Bella and Mike were able to slip into new roles with each other once they had got over the miscommunication. How they created opportunities to be together despite their busy schedules. This story shows that sometimes you have to do what it takes to create the life you want, you can’t just sit back and expect it to happen to you!
This romance rather successfully demonstrates that plain, straightforward discussion about feelings and plans can avoid a mountain of second-guessing and heartache. I thought the character flaws and actions were realistic and they're related in an engaging story with plenty of longing looks, steam and good times together tempered with some whopper crushing moments.
Author Olivia Spring's leads Bella and Mike both chose the teaching profession. You would think they'd be good at communicating but they have real difficulty at being clear and candid with each other despite a history of tight friendship going back to their university days. Bella tends to analyze and misinterpret Mike's intentions while Mike is a champion in avoiding tough talks by changing the subject or physically disappearing! After years apart they get another chance but old habits die hard.
With good though not intrusive secondary characters and a heroine who, not a second too soon, develops some gumption, I enjoyed it. I did think she was a bit of a pushover for the fellow's charms but it all works out swimmingly for her so who am I to judge!
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
I really enjoyed this story, although my reasons differ from those of many reviewers.
I loved the main character and her journey. She began the book as a consummate creature of habit, afraid to take even the smallest step out of her carefully mapped comfort zone. The author did a great job showing all of Bella's idiosyncrasies and how trapped she was in her life. And as she began to come out of her shell and into her own, we got to see that, too. I enjoyed watching her gain confidence and start really going after her dreams.
Of course, this is a romance novel, so one of Bella's biggest dreams is a guy. And not just any guy: Mike, her best friend from university, whom she's still in love with despite ten years of not seeing each other. I'm a fan of the friends-to-lovers trope, but I just wasn't feeling this relationship. Mike and Bella were so different, and since most of their relationship was the three years of friendship in college (which wasn't dramatized in the book) I didn't get a feel for how they fit together. As much as I liked this story, I just couldn't get invested in the romance at the center of it.
[I received a complimentary review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.]
All isn't really going well for English teacher, Bella. Her love life sucks, the much awaited promotion has been declined for her ( and it wasn't even for the 1st time) and her long lost best friend is in town for their university's 10-year reunion. The same ex-friend who she had & probably she has feelings for, the same ex-friend who she kissed 10 years ago but nothing much happened after that.
Bella is such a relatable character. Her ongoing problems, fear of rejection, fear of pursuing anything, vulnerability seemed so true. Her standing up to her over protective father was quite amazing.
I adored her second chance at romance & rekindling her friendship with Mike. Her & Mike's chemistry was undeniable & steamy. They fitted effortlessly with each other & worked efficiently. Miscommunication was the only thing that kept them apart all those years ago & it certainly was the same now which raised the conflict. But I'm glad everything worked out for them, Finally!!
And I absolutely loved the female friendship in this book! Bella certainly had 3 amazing girlfriends who were so supportive of her & kept pushing her in the right direction.
First, I want to thank Olivia Spring for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.
Oh Olivia Spring I LOVED just LOVED My Ten-Year Crush! You have proved over and over you are the princess of Rom-Com. No other author in your genre can make me laugh the way you do!! Oh how fun this book was to read! It put a big huge smile on my face. After the stressful week I had I so needed this book! You must go and put this on the top of your TBR list!
You could not help but fall in love with this storyline! Many like myself will find it very relatable in one way or another. Plus, Olivia has the greatest cast of characters that you just can’t not like!
There was a scene that pulled on my heartstrings so much that I teared up! I wanted so badly to just hop into the book and give Mike a big hug. Olivia did an incredible job conveying all the emotions involved.
This is not your average Rom-Com story OH NO! Olivia shows us her naughty side-and I must say I liked it! Oh there is heat in this book for sure! However, it is tastefully done!
A beautiful, wholesome and oh so sexy story about the beautiful endings that come when you decide to step out of your comfort zone, follow your own path and give your heart desires a chance!
Mike and Bella were such a swoony couple that put a smile on my face from start to finish! Bella was such a determined and badass heroine, she wanted to prove herself and show the world how capable she was pf achieving anything. Her relationship with her dad frustrated me a little bit, but I felt so proud of her as she realized she had the steering wheel of her life and she had the power to choose what she wanted for herself. I loved every second with her and Mike, I was able to see how time never really passed for their friendship and how great chemistry they had as friends and of course as couple goals! Their banter, the care for each other and how they decided to choose each other because they truly believed they’d always been destined to have a future together was like a warm hug to my heart.
Their friendship, their true love and happy ending were the sweetest and most satisfying!
Honestly I didn’t hate the book but there were more things I disliked than liked. Firstly why was there only one POV, I love to see the other persons thought processes and the unspoken things they think that only the reader knows until they reveal their cards.
This book was very descriptive, though funny and cute at some moments (emphasis on some) with heartfelt bits here and there I didn’t feel like there was a lot of depth. Yes we saw the backstory but from being apart for ten years it was like nothing changed. Couldn’t wrap my head around the ‘instant connection’ but I mean I guess I had to.
All in all, if I’m being honest I respect the other reviews but I found this book very boring that I skimmed literally 75% of it. Even with doing that I still got the bits that mattered which was important. Really hesitant to read the other books though because it’s not like the characters stood out which would make me excited for the next book, so I guess I’ll call this one a one and done.
