Hot Damn, was this fun. I've only read the first issue so this is a placeholder until I can get the rest of the series but the art was clear and evocative (only nitpick: I would have preferred starker use of the black and white rather than as much grey scale, but that could just be me) and the en media res entry about the characters and their lives was really solid. A+ effort so far, I just need to see the whole story before I judge it completely.
Without any spoilers, this book executed pacing so perfectly to connect different subplots together. The world it built is in depth and beautiful. Everytime they introduce a character or being im always blown away, with the art and the personality and characterization. This is a must read if you love dark fantasy.
Gorgeous and lush black and white visuals really bring this story to life. This book is only the beginning, and spends quite a lot of time building the world, or multiple worlds. I look forward to seeing where it goes. The New Orleans setting is just perfection.
This was amazing! I’m usually not a graphic novel reader, but this has turned me into one. The illustrations are beautiful and the plot is action-packed, sad, funny, creepy, and unlike anything I’ve ever read before. Can’t wait to get the next one in print.
