Zachariah Connelly regretted his contract to captain Dwayne Marley’s Santa Fe trading caravan without complete authority to say who would be part of the company. Unfortunately, Marley had hired the crew before he'd hired Zach. They were a mix of mountain men, greenhorns and fortune hunters.
Savannah Pemberton planned to escape the match-making schemes of her step-father by joining her brother in Santa Fe. But Zachariah Connelly turned down her request to travel with the trading caravan. Determined and undaunted, Savanah trailed a day behind the caravan until they were too far down the trail to escort her back to civilization.
Suddenly Zachariah Connelly didn’t know who was more dangerous: his volatile crew or the willful beauty whose presence threatened his command and his heart.
This is an interesting saga of family, survival, mystery and suspense. Zachariah is intense, honorable, charismatic and condescending. Savannah is stubborn, strong, mysterious and caring. She's determined to get him to take her Santa Fe, he's determined to show her that she's too weak to make it. Unfortunately for him, circumstances show her to be stronger and more resilient than he expected. They mystery of her past, and her need to get away from her stepfather prompt her to go, no matter the cost. And it's one disaster after another. The end of the book was very unexpected. It's definitely more action than romance, but it's an intriguing storyline. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Reading Deals. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
I do love a good western with a little bit of humor, romance and some baiting back and forward. The sparks that came off these two were delightful. One determined and the other bullhead sure make a match in heaven that is after they get over the two steps forward and one back. I just love this two step it was very entertaining, exciting keeping the read invest and hooked for the first page until the last. ********************
He was traveling for his reasons and she was going to get a way from her family's match making. Him and her have their troubles and hardships on their journey along with the feeling for each other and what goes with that. Considering the time they are in then you know things very hard then. It is exciting, hot, emotional, suspenseful and so much more. I was given a review copy by reading deals and voluntarily review it.
This was an interesting story of the way women were viewed in that time of history. I'm afraid had I lived in that time I would have been a rebel. Savannah was a great heroine in spite of the way she had been brought up. She overcame and conquered her nightmares to become her true self. I also liked the historical background in this book.
This is a good book if you like western romance. I loved reading about Savannah's adventures. She's a lady but tough as nails. Hooky is a great writer.
I really enjoyed this book. It had enough twists and turns to keep me turning pages long after I should have fallen asleep. When you've got a determined woman and a stubborn man who both want their way, you've got enough sparks to start a fire. Throw in some nefarious characters and you've got a great story. “I was provided a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review."
