I consider myself blessed I'm able to do this for a living. I live for fantasy books as a reader and author. I adore books like An Ember in the Ashes, The Night Angel Trilogy, Harry Potter, The Great Library series...I could go on.
Before I write I have four young humans I keep alive and love them to the stars and back again. I live in Utah with my sexy husband, the kiddos, two paranoid dogs, and a sinister cat. Between finishing a second degree, running a business, and eating too much chocolate, I love writing early in the morning when no one is awake. If you can't tell, I basically function on caffeine.
This is a great series! It’s got such an addictive storyline full of adventure, magic, betrayal, twists and turns in this complex and unique world. There’s tons going on as we follow Teagan and Jadeon this journey of questions and magic to stop the Prince of night!! Great storyline, great characters, so looking forward to the next book!
I’m really totally fan-girding out on LJ Andrews’ Dragon Mage series (trust me, this is a positive thing). It is the perfect Dragon shifter fantasy and is well written to boot. As such, hits several of my fantasy “sweet spots”. Now, in The Queen of Jade: A (Book 3) we return to Teagan, who has learned he’s the lost mage who is destined to protect hidden dragon queen Jade Drake, who he happens to be falling in love with. A bit of a complication that, but just a taste of this complex yet thoroughly fun novel filled with adventure, magic, betrayal, twists and turns. Thanks to wonderful world-building, perfectly crafted characters and a new plot that is well written and a great advancement of the overall story arc, this book is a winner for fans of the series. Newcomers will enjoy it too - but for maximum impact it’s really best to start this series at book 1 and work up. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m sooo looking forward to the next book.
I'm mad at Jade in this one. She does something stupid. I'm not sure I would have trusted what Bron had said. There are other ways they could have found Gaia. And Thane lied to Teagan. I really hate Athika. She keeps pawing at Teagan & he never says anything to her. I wish when Athika came on to him the first time he told her to stop he had threatened her. I would have given her the silent treatment. Made her sit behind the Mitch. And pushed her hands off him every time she got grabby. I imagine she really loved sitting behind him. And putting her hands around his waist. Several of the royal dragons join Jade. They empty the town so that no innocents get used against them. Bron does get one royal & her stone. Bron proposes that Jade mate with his son. That way there will be peace for lindworms, dragons, & mages. Don't you love how they left the fae, witches, & wolvyn out of that? Teagan gets more training from Dash, Raffi, & Thane. The mages also train him some more before they go to save Gaia. Tegan later learns his father is alive & helps train him. Finally someone shuts Athika up about Teagan & Jade mating. They admit to knowing of it happening before. Thank goodness! She was getting on my last nerve. She kept showing up when he was bathing. I wish Jade had been there to put her in her place. I would have paid money to read it! The end of the book has an unlikely alliance forming. I just pray it's not a trick. Oh I forgot to mention that the council had had Teagan followed for a few days. They assumed Teagan was bad like his father. They vote to execute him. Someone betrays the council & kills the council. All of that forces Jade to ascend the throne. But is this what Bron wants her to do?
When it comes to fantasy this author has figured it all out. In this tale of magic, dragons, mages and elementals she has found a way to make it epic. The battles the scrimmages, the training and preparation, finding out everything you ever knew to be true is a lie. The uniting of family with a single minded determination to right wrongs. Love tested. Freedom for some. It's all here. The tale is emotional. The decisions and actions justified. Unexpected actions reaping untold benefits. The action doesn't stop. The story is banging from start to finish. Another winning series full of action, intrigue, magic, dragons, love, deception, betrayal and on and on and executed with perfection. Love this author and her style.
The group of warriors, Mages and Royal wyverns prepare for another battle with the Dark Priests and lindworms. This time they have a human helping them. But there is a serious twist to this story. Ms Andrews writes with such passion it’s almost hard to not feel the ache. A tremendous battle scene toward the end was described so well I could easily picture everything in my mind. It became so emotional for me I could feel the tears rolling down my face. I cannot find strong enough words to express how extraordinary this story is. Another twist or two at the conclusion was a few happy surprises. I very highly recommended reading this series. If you don’t you are surly missing out.
Just as Teagan and Jade start to settle into things, get to know each other and continue with Teagans training An Elder visits and lumps them with a spy to see whats happening with them all. Next things its all on with Jade is missing, someones dead, mistrust is everywhere and Mitch has the chance to show all humans are useless. The way everything unfolds has you wanting to know but also not wanting to turn the page as you really don't know what will happen especially when it looks like Teagan is going to learn so much more about his parents! I can't wait to read the next book and see what they are up against but I also don't want this series to end!!
I found this book relatively predictable. Aldwin is a bad guy and killed the council - called it The mage who has an affinity not only for elemental magics but for warrior style combat is the child of a warrior(specifically the one that the wyvern keep going on about) and the high priestess - called it. The queen sacrifices herself to save her people leading Teagan on an adventure that leads to his mother-called it.
Now.... The last page... That I didn't see coming. I was gonna dnf the series half way through.. Until the last page. Now I'm sucked back in.
Imo, the book still doesn't deserve a high rating, but, it got me right as the bell tolled... So I think a 3 is fitting.

Rowan starts to learn of her heritage, powers and responsibilities to the dragon world. Her world turns upside down several times. Humans and dragons are not what they seem to be. Loved the characters, their determination and personalities. The storyline is fast paced, with plenty of drama, danger, entertaining situations, twists, adventure, intrigue and more that kept the pages turning. Totally hooked on this series and can not wait for book 4.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have really enjoyed the books in this series. The story has plenty of action and a romance that is very well developed.
Jade and Teagan make a great couple and have both really grown into their new roles. Their connection is so intense and undeniable.
I like that the author alternates between the characters as narrator so you can really understand their actions. Teagan has had to really learn a new way of life as he uncovers the truth of his past.
This KU library selection is a great addition to the series. Teagan has been training, expanding his mage skills and wondering about his parents. Jade is becoming concerned about the elders and their reluctance to accept Teagan. In a world where betrayal is commonplace, who do you trust? Book three is up next, another KU library selection.
All of Andrews books have twists and turns that you don't see coming. The characters are engaging, they come to life right off the page. She has created places that are believable, you can feel the cold snow around you or smell the breath of the dragons. Looking forward to the next book.
Another great book and can't wait to get started on the next book in this series... If you haven't already started reading this series you are missing out
This is such a good story! The plot is very well written and the story itself is really entertaining. Ms. Andrews has an incredible imagination. You won’t be sorry to buy this book.
I love the way that this author has played with her characters. The POVs made sense and all the more gave me reason to keep on reading to finish the story. Jade’s love sometimes overshadowed her choices but that doesn’t mean she was weak. That is why I love her character so much
I wasn’t thrilled with the first book, I thought it moved too slowly at times. This book, however, is action packed and held my interest. Can’t wait to read book 3.
That escalated quickly! Full of twists and turns I did not see coming! Teagan finds out the truth about who he is. Jade uncovers an intriguing plot twist. I can’t wait to see how this turns out!
What an awesome story. Magic galore to please everyone. Teagan never believed until he came across it. Once he meets Jade, things definitely change Ready for the next one.
You want love? War? Mystery? Yeah it has all that. Plus it leaves you with a cliffhanger wanting to start the next book ASAP. Which I am going to start now.
An amazing adventure. Jade has been taken by the lindworms and Teagan is left behind to carry on. It looks like Jade went willingly but Teagan is sure that’s not the case and vows to rescue her. First he needs some more warriors and mage’s. Whee to start to find them? Join Teagan, Mitch, Raffi and others on their next adventure. Grab your copy, a cuppa tea, and lose yourself in a fabulous book. Highly recommend.
