Thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Bronwyn is more of a parent to her mom than her mom is to her. She’s the one who makes sure the bills are paid, cooks dinner, and makes sure her mother gets to meetings. Her mother is an addict, but she is trying to clean herself up. When she doesn’t pick her up on the last day of school, Bronwyn is not surprised and heads home on foot, despite the tornado warning in the area. When she gets home, she has to flee from the tornado with her neighbor and crush, Kingston. Afterwards, she’s at the hospital and unable to find her mom anywhere. Bronwyn is forced to call her father, the senator who has not been in her life and lives a very different life than the one she has. Bronwyn is forced to move in with his family, who she has been told have rejected her repeatedly. Angry, hurt, and missing her old life, Bronwyn searches for the truth about what happened to her mom and faces the truth about her life.
