I knew the past would come back to haunt me. It was only a matter of time before my world came crashing down.
The only thing I didn’t expect was Mateo. The head of the Italian mafia. We were never meant to cross paths; our worlds vastly different.
His green gaze captured me, his touch burning through my defenses. The words he whispered melted away all the years of loneliness. But the secret I kept could get me killed. If he spared me, his rivals wouldn’t. As my secrets unravel, it could cost me everything and everyone I loved.

The book was only okay. It was entertaining enough, but the heroine's friends and their conversations with the heroine felt like they took up half the book and were annoying AF. The heroine also wasn't very motherly and her relationship with the daughter was so forced. Then the last 5%ish of the book happened and completely ruined everything.
Hero's past mistress (from the beginning of the book) is holding them captive essentially and has the heroine's best friend's bf undress, kiss and touch the heroine, in which the bf takes it a step further by totally feeling her up and going down on her.. the supposedly super possessive and jealous Hero joins in with the heroine, because that makes so much sense, and this almost turned into a full on threesome and came so out of the blue (seriously, the last 5%?!?!) That it just completely ruined the couple, and the side characters. They ALL get turned on, including the best friend (the guy going down on her's girlfriend). That bf is getting super turned on from the heroine too, but it's okay because his gf likes to watch (their future book is definitely going to be a hard pass🙄) Seriously?! Also, the gf and the hero are cousins making this almost incestuous 🤮🤮. Then after they have sex in front of each other to show "ownership" or whatever and what a way to completely ruin a book and many future books from side characters 👍
So this was actually a reread for me via an Advanced Listening Copy. I read an ARC originally in 2021 and it was so interesting to revisit this.
It still starts off with a bang. I still had my heart melted by little Emma and I understand why Mateo fell head over heels for this young mom and her kid. But... he jumps in dick first for sure. lols! And this whole story (minus the prologue) takes place in TWO WEEKS?! We are reminded of this at the end of the book and I was shocked.
It is a very sexy story and their is some great heat going on. Though it does seem that p*ssy whipped is definitely how I would explain Mateo. That does seem to be the reason he makes most of his decisions.
I will leave my original review standing down below. But I do feel a tad different about it now... it didn't read as quite as exciting this time and it also felt extremely long.. I stand by my previous review where I wished this had been 3 novels. There are 3 love stories all mixed in here and we even get some POVs of those characters. So I wish we either had more
Finally, this 100% needs some CWs listed in the book. There was none read at the beginning by the narrators nor in my KU copy... And when you see what a few of them are... you'll understand what I mean.
Narrated by Troy Duran & Kingsley Rose in the Duet Style. Their performances were very well done and they narrated every line with gusto. Even when things got a bit heavy on cheese, they were great to listen to. Hearing Troy croon sexily in my ear made it all go down a bit smoother.
updated rating is 4 stars 4 on the spice scale
TW: sick child (cancer), death, murder, mention of child trafficking, Forced pregnancy (kinda), loss of bodily autonomy.

This book was not what I was expecting! I jumped at the chance to grab a Mafia Romance when it appeared in NetGalley and I am so glad I did. I have never heard of Eve Winners before but I will be keeping my eyes on her now.
This was a Standalone Mafia Romance. It was an Age-Gap, Single mom with a sick daughter. When Brianna needs insurance for her daughter's cancer treatments, her friend helps her out getting her a job with the family business. The legit side of the mob, but the mob none the less. When she catches the eye of Mateo, the head of the family… Things escalate very quickly. But Brianna has more than just a sick daughter on the line, she has a past the is quickly coming for her and Mateo may be the very person she needs to run from.
But he is NOT letting her go. I love this kind of possessive alpha and I was sucked into this story right from the jump. There were so many things involved that I love. He would also be so sweet when it was needed and he just wanted to care for Brianna and her little family however she would let him, and because he is a Boss, he doesn't give her a choice.
This also had a mystery aspect going and that was a fun part to unravel as well.
My biggest issue is I wish it was a trilogy, we get a peek at the romances of Brianna's friends, but I wanted them to have their own stories too, but it was also unique to have a standalone Mafia as that is so rare. Basically, this was a whole saga smooshed together and it did get a little long… But I'm telling you, I was so compelled, I didn't care.
This book was steamy, dangerous and a wild ride. I highly recommend!
"I'm not keeping myself guarded," I retorted dryly. " I just haven't met a man that could compare to my book boyfriends."
Amen sister. 👏
TW: child with cancer(you will see her dealing with the effects of her treatment. Also violence.
So the beginning of this book started off so freaking strong the herione is gonna be doing something that you don't normally see in other mafia romances and it had me shook. I liked that Brianna has a child from someone who's not the hero. I liked that her and her friends read smut.. the authors writing was fantastic but the execution of the storyline was a bit chaotic. Many plot points were thrown in and then they kind fell flat the storyline dragged TBH, towards the end i legit just wanted to DNF. I did enjoy the whole age gap between the MC's. I also enjoyed the secondary characters especially the ones who enjoyed voyeurism that was HOT. I felt that those secondary characters didn't need their own chapters they should have had their own books TBH.
ARC provided for free in exchange for a honest review all opinions are my own...
You know how bad the book has to be when I DNF at 85 %? It actually started very good. BUT the more scenes with the two friends I had to read the more I hated all of them. First of all, Marissa is the worst friend ever. WORST FRIEND EVER! She knew who Brianna's first boyfriend was from the get-go. Yet, she did not warm her or explain the situation after. She did even say anything after-after. Then she does the same with Mateo! Just this time, she has the genius idea Brianna should just shut up and open her legs. Just.... no.
I also feel a need to be very disturbed with the way how Brianna was drinking. You are not a good mother when you invite your friends and get so hammered you do not have any control on your behavior. YOU ARE NOT A GOOD MOTHER WHEN YOU LEAVE YOUR VERY SICK CHILD WITHOUT ANY SUPERVISION! She was a not a collage student without any responsibilities. She decided to be a mother so she should stop thinking about herself and her stupid friends and BE A MOTHER.
The situation with the Irish mafia was just ridiculous. When they all just came to their house and started to argue I had to stop reading.
What a fantastic book! This has everything you could want in a mobster romance. The plot is suspenseful, the romance is sweet and steamy, and there are just enough heartfelt moments to keep me turning the pages. I recommend this book to those who are on the fence about whether or not they want to read a mafia romance. While it does have the mafia plotline, it’s not particularly dark. I think this could be your gateway mafia romance. This is quite a long book (according to Amazon it’s almost 500 pages), but the plot never lags. We actually get other characters’ POVs later on in the book, which added another layer of depth to an already addictive novel. Highly recommended!
Vows of a Mobster was a great read. The blurb caught my eye and I was immediately sucked in. I enjoyed Mateo and Brianna's story and the extensive list of characters. This story had passion, an engaging storyline, a fiery connection and had me hooked!
What I loved more than anything in this story was the sisterhood between Brianna, Marissa and Daphne. I loved how their friendship was almost akin to a fortress. It was admirable and amazing! However, while I loved Vows of a Mobster I did feel like Winners attempted to combine three different stories into one standalone. I felt like Declan and Marissa and Antonio and Daphne's stories were also pushed into Mateo and Brianna's love story as side arcs which did not give them justice. They felt rushed and it felt like I was missing SO much. I would have much preferred to read each respective couples' book separately. In addition, I also felt like there were some storylines that were never tied up nor addressed. All in all however, I did enjoy this story and look forward to reading more from this author in the future. 4 stars! ~Ratula
I am a self-admitted Mafia romance reader! So reading Vows of a Mobster seemed like it was right up my alley and seeing it was written by a new to me author was a chance I was willing to take. I am so glad I took this chance.
Vows of a Mobster hooked me in the first paragraph of the prologue. It is obvious that this is setting up the entire book and it leaves readers wondering who are those two women on the boat in a raging storm at sea and what pushed them to be there.
Eva Winners gives readers everything, lies, deceit, angst, passion, seduction, rivalry, and so much more. Mateo and Brianna are not the couple you would expect yet they mesh; they complete each other even with the age difference. Their attraction to each other is combustible, from smoke to fire to explosive with a lot of tenderness thrown in.
Since their university days, Brianna, Marissa and Daphne have forged a friendship that is unbreakable. They will be there for each other for life, they have already been to hell and back as friends twice and survived but there is so much more that they will have to fight through. I found that for all of them to find their forever after in this story just solidified this group. There is one character though who wins hearts and that is little Emma, Brianna’s daughter; she plays a pivotal role in this story.
What we think leads in one direction will end up taking a U-turn and adding so much more to the story. I didn’t want to put it down, I kept turning pages because each turn took a twist and each twist just added more to this story.

When pursuit of help for her daughter ends in her committing the ultimate crime, Brianna makes it her mission to steer clear of all things organised crime. While her best friends’ balls and knowledge of that world have come in handy once, she prefers to not get involved with their family business. Unfortunate when her daughter falls ill, she finds herself in need to a job. The job puts her the crossfire of the people she’s gone out of her way to avoid. People like Mateo.
Mateo lives a simple life. One free of commitments, liabilities, and weaknesses. His sole purpose is to lead his family to more wealth and power. Women are plentiful and are only good for one thing. But when he meets Brianna, she’s like no woman he’s ever met. And he wants her- whether she wants him or not.
While Brianna works to keep her secrets hidden, Mateo works to unearth them. She’s worked hard to keep her life as uncomplicated as possible, but she doesn’t realise just how entangled her life really is with the people she’s tried steered clear off. With her life in danger and that of her daughter, and her baby daddy’s family on her tail, she gets more than she bargained for. Will their love be enough to overcome wars that have been held back for decades?
Lies are plentiful, deceit is rife, but there is plenty of love, forgiveness, survival and strength in this story that will leave you all warm and fuzzy.
This story follows Brianna and Mateo. Mateo is the head of the Italian mafia, while Brianna is laying low, trying to care for her daughter and pay for her medical treatments. However, Brianna has a past that may be linked to the underworld. What will Mateo do when he finds out?
This story gripped me from the start, and the duet narration was brilliant for it. Not only did we get the main characters’ POVs, but there were also chapters from other characters’ perspectives, which I really enjoyed.
I will say, Mateo was sweet at first, but after they had unprotected sex and he refused to let her take the morning-after pill, I wanted to strangle him. He quickly shifted from being someone who “doesn’t do relationships” to a possessive asshole. That said, he did grow on me with his protective side, and I loved how he treated her daughter as if she were his entire world. That little girl is going through so much. I also enjoyed the twists in this story—most of them completely caught me off guard. Lastly the chemistry and steamy scenes were great as well.

Full Review coming soon, But just a quick thought- This was one of my favorite top 10 mafia romances for 2021. I never laughed so hard through a mafia romance read, the women of this mafia family made this story hands down everything it was and made it an awesome read for us.3 badass women and one little girl who melted your heart.
This story was awesome from beginning to end, and the story had some very awesome characters. What we loved was that it was so different from other mafia romances where the women of this mafia family know the ins and outs of the family not all but enough and in this story that knowledge comes in handy.
The story had heart, was funny, and we loved the men and women of the story. The story was an emotional one that went straight to your heart. Surrounded in secrets upon secrets. Loved the plot because it was constantly evolving that brought surprise after surprise.
This was one hot read that had tons of sexy scenes with tons of chemistry. One that was full of hot and sexy alpha men. The danger and darkness was real but, we also loved that these dangerous men opened themselves up to love women they found worthy and vice versa soulmates through and through. I always love when one of those main characters is the complete opposite of you in all ways, but, are the perfect fit for that person, regardless. So many Swoon worthy moments. For us, this was a story that we never wanted to end. It's been a while where I fell in love with an entire cast of characters, but, this author made it happen.
This story goes into the keeper pile to read time and time again. Looking forward to reading more from the author, as I am a big fan of mafia romance and haven't been this excited at finding a new author in this genre since finding Bethany Kris.
I hadn't read a mafia romance since my awful experience with Raze. I wanted to get back to this subgenre and I'm happy I got to do it with this one. It was amazing, right from page one.
We began the story with the secret the back cover promised us... but we were missing A TON of informations and that's why I got obsessed with this book. I just wanted to know what lead Brianna to end up on this boat because it was really intense and immersive. What a start! 🤯
Mateo and Brianna's first meeting was cliché, yes, but it work! I already liked her at this point. She was dedicated to her daughter, with whom she had a beautiful bond. With Marissa and Daphne, they formed a little family - their own mini mafia. I could see how resilient she was and the love she had for them. They were crazy together with all their wine and their smut! Brianna was pretty funny, even if we didn't see a lot of it later in the book. When she met Mateo, she felt alive for the first time in her life. They clicked instantly. I will always remember their dance and the "long story" she told him 🤣 Their relationship was very sexy and it evolved really fast, so you better grab the handle to stay on board!
Mateo was fierce as hell. We couldn't expect less for the mobster boss, right? When he met Brianna, everything changed for him. He had found the one and he refused to let her go. He was very protective, which I loved, but also possessive. The thing with Mateo was that he knew he shouldn't be like that, but he just couldn’t help it. He was the cold and composed mafia boss, but then completely lost control everytime Brianna (and then Emma) was concerned. He was unfair to her, in at least two occasions, and it infuriated me. Still, it made him stronger as a character because he acknowledged his wrongdoings. His relationship with Emma was the sweetest. I bled for this little girl whose story was the most unexpected one.
As the story unfolded, we got some answers, but also a lot of questions arised. Mystery, mystery! Some things were hard to guess and, even when we discovered the truth, the tension was still on point because there were secrets yet to be revealed. I think the mystery and romance sides of the book were very well mixed, one feeding of the other. It allowed us to meet a few new characters aside from the Italians. I actually wished we had a full book with Declan and Marissa. I'd have loved to see more of the Irish mafia.
Despite everything I liked in this book, there were still one or two things that bothered me. I know mafia men are often possessive and I have nothing against it. However, after reading "You're mine" so many times around the middle of the book, I got tired of it... fortunately it appeared less later on. I was also sad the girls lost some of their bite once they got paired up, especially Marissa. I loved her personality and I found her too tamed near the end. But even if wasn't perfect, this book let me know mafia romances have a bright future ahead!
This is an honest review written after receiving a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
This story was not what I was expecting as it was so much slower than I enjoy. I haven't really connected with any of the characters, and the chemistry between the two MCs is lackluster. There's also too much mystery and not enough hints for me to be invested in the heroine's mysterious past.

Vows of a Mobster is a book full of secrets, lies, blood and murder...but it's also a book full of sin, passionand love between the young Brianna and the much older, sharp powerful head of the Italian familigia Mateo Agosti. Brianna has her fair share of secrets which she is desperate to keep hidden, but the more she gets involved with Mateo and the Mafia, the more chance of them becoming unraveled. All of what she has done before she came into contact with Mateo has been for her little girl and she will continue to fight and be the mama bear Emma needs, and she will protect her at all costs. Mateo literally bumped into Brianna one day,and he instantly became intrigued by her,not normally being the "kind" of woman,a mafia head associates with and he made it his mission to pursue her. He instantly becomes protective and possessive over both Brianna and Emma, because to him, family means everything, blood or not...so when powers that be, try to jeopardise that, he vows to get his own kind of revenge, the way he knows how. I really enjoyed meeting the other characters from the book, and how their relationships grew with every page...and I honestly didn't want the book to end!
This story had my complete attention from the first page. The secrets, passion, tension, violence, mafia double-crossing and constant threats to life were just immense. The characters and the world they live in were just so well written that I was engrossed through every chapter. The fact that I got multiple characters perspectives was even more enlightening to every situation that cropped up. It was fabulous.
I am in love with Brianna and Mateo, and Brianna’s daughter, Emma, just makes the story deeper and more compelling. Add in Brianna’s best friends, Marissa and Daphne, plus the additional characters of Antonio, Declan and Giovanni and you’ve got a wonderful concoction of strong, lovable mafia alpha men that had me swooning the whole time.
I honestly loved this epic story and can’t wait to devour it all over again so that I can digest it all at my leisure.
This was my first book by Eva Winners and was unforgettable. The story of Brianna and Mateo totally wrecked me in all the way.
Brianna who is hiding one secret that will destroy her life is struggling with her sick daughter, who she love very much and will do anything to her. And Mateo the ruthless Italian Mobster who is totally obsessed with her.
This book make me to hold my breath, until I read the whole story. The passion and the chemistry between this character is Impossibly strong. Mateo definitely capture my heart and, no matter what I love him so much.
Brianna is so strong girl who life is total chaos, from the start i like her so much, I like how she and her friends bound is so strong and they are always next to her. They're friendships definitely is so unique , and when I think about it nowadays, it's hard to find such a relationship some their.
Thank you @evawinners for the opportunity to read this fabulous book that give me so much emotion and who's character I will never forget. I can't wait to see with what will you surprise me next and I cross my fingers that you next work will be Declan and Marissa story, because they are for sure interesting couple! ❤️
I really love this writer’s books, but one of the things I love the most is that even when there are similar settings the storylines are unique and original. This is no different. I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading but at the same time I still didn’t want it to end. I would also happily read more from this world there are a few supporting characters who carve a place in the reader’s heart and could easily play a leading role in their own drama. I really like the way the tension and drama builds along with the pace of the story, it is not stuck on a single setting which makes it very readable and gripping. There are some unexpected twists along the way as well as some humorous moments that really made me smile. I love Brianna but what I love most is the female friendship and support network (with a dash of mischief thrown in) between her, Marissa and Daphne. It is really lovely to have such strong female bonding at the centre of the story. Mateo meanwhile is sexy and just a little dangerous and the relationship between him and Brianna is steamy and hot, hot, hot. Well worth reading.
Wow this book amazing, Eva Winners knows how write a story. She just pulls you in and doesn't let go.
Mafia/Age Gap ✅ Murder and Mystery ✅ Violence and Suspense ✅ and let's not forget about that Holy Hottness ✅
Mateo and Brianna are perfect, from their first interaction together you can tell that they will be explosive together ❤. Mateo, the head of the Italian Mafia and Brianna, the single mother with a sick child. They come from completely different worlds but when they get together none of that matters. This story will make you laugh, cry, get your anger going and have you on the edge of your seat. This is the first book I've read where some secondary characters have get their own chapters, which I really liked. It adds to this already amazing story and adds more depth to it. I hope we see those secondary characters get their own stories. I loved this book so much, cudos to Eva Winners. I will definitely be reading more of her books in the future.
I received a free ARC of this book for an honest review
Never picked up a Eva Winners book but this caught my eye! It’s everything that I love wrapped up in one epic gem! From the first page I was hooked, I loved the Sass of Brianna and her two best friends Marissa & Daphne, they had me tickled with their easy banter. The Hero Mateo was a typical mafia boss until he met Brianna and her daughter Emma, then he turned into a Protective family man whilst also keeping his macho status for a mafia boss. I loved the plot, the twists and turns , I didn’t want it to end and am disappointed than it is a standalone, but I’m hoping that there will be books about Marissa and Daphne and we get to see Brianna and Mateo again. I would definitely recommend this awesome book, you won’t be disappointed.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Excellent and enjoyable reading from Eva once again. She caught my attention with her last series Russian Sinners, so this was a no brainier, I had to give it a go, I’m so glad I did.
Italian Mafia v Irish Mafia. A great storyline Wonderfully written Extremely addictive Awesome and intriguing characters Is it dark and a little blood thirsty? Yes. I need more very soon from this authors pen, I could read her books on drip feed.
Don’t let this one pass you by, I hope she brings out more soon and stays with the Mafia theme. Recommended read
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
ARC REVIEW Fantastic story. Brianna is a single mom and ballet teacher. Unfortunately now her daughter’s illness is back and she’s in need of money for the treatment. She’s hired as Mateo’s brother assistant. This job also brings her closer to the past she thought she left behind.
Mateo is a man who stops at nothing and does everything to make his family have even more wealth. He is also determined to find out what secrets does Brianna hide. And he also wants her as his woman and will stop at nothing to get her.
Their story is full of so many action, drama and love.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I liked the way their relationship was portrayed.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Oh my god!! What an action packed thrilling book!! I can’t get over how exciting every page and event was through this story. I was on the edge of my seat and literally dying to know what was happening next. Mateo and Brianna were soulmates at first glance and watching their love unfold was like an adventure in itself. But the fact that their friends were so seeping entwined in their story made it all the more better! I truly hope that Marissa and Declan get a story or their own because I’d love to have more of the Italian and Irish world!
Wow! This is a phenomenal Mafia book. You have the Mob Boss of the Italian Crime family and the Mob Boss of the Irish family going against each other. Then you have 3 stunning women with a huge secret that will be their undoing if it gets out. I was lured in from the first page to the last page. Lots of intrigue and sizzling steamy sex. Oh and did I forget to say the men are all handsome and unyielding. Don't miss this book. Read it today!
Mateo and Brianna have chemistry from the first second they run into each other. From there the story takes off and sucks you in. I love the banter and relationships amongst these characters. Also, Mateo and Brianna are off the charts!!
WOW, This book took me by surprise!! Mateo and Brianna's chemistry is EVERYTHING!!
The story is not how you expected when you start reading, Brianna, Marissa, and Daphne are friends, but Brianna struggled because her daughter was sick when she met the mafia boss. Then her story gets complicated, and at the same time so hot and sexy and twisted.
This story has so many facets that you keep flipping those pages to get it all figured out. I found the characters genuine and the plot well paced and riveting.
Secrets, even the secrets have secrets. But opportunity, chance, and possibility fuel this story.
Brianna has been struggling with her personal life. Her struggle is overwhelming, heartbreaking, and taking its toll. She has her two ride or die friends, but she's in need of a job and assurances. She gets more than she bargained for in Mateo. At first, he was just a fantasy and her boss. But in the blink of an eye, that all changed. He became her everything, because it was his command.
Mateo was the head of his Italian mafia family. He ran both family and business with a strong hand. But Brianna brought out facets of his life he never imagined. Now he'll have her and protect her.
What neither realized was their connection. It was a deadly one. While she kept her secrets hidden, Mateo searched them out. Once they were revealed, could their love withstand the truth? Would his enemies be waiting?
Desire and danger linger. Lies and betrayal are plentiful. But love has a way of conquering everything.
Wow! LOVED this mafia romance. Brianna needs to find a job. She needs the health insurance as her young daughter is ill. Her best friend gets her a job in her families business. Brianna is a bit in the dark as to exactly what her friends family does. There she meets Mateo. Mateo who is head of the famiglia. All I can say is this story is so full of action and intrigue and love. Yet it is HOT!!! If you like a mafia romance DO NOT MISS!
