A giant tortoise learns that if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
Whitey and Cahoots, two sharks, convince giant tortoise Arlene to invest in their sure-fire, money-making scheme. Arlene takes the bait. So do all her friends, and they discover the hard way what a Ponzi scheme is.
This is a kid-friendly exploration of Ponzi schemes, using colorful characters. A starting point for educators and parents who want to teach financial literacy. This book was written by a former FDIC chair and financial expert.
What a great way to explain investments and Ponzi schemes. If a money-making idea sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
A great picture book for young children, but I’m not convinced that they would understand it. The book is too childish for older children that could understand it. The content is excellent, the format needs to be age appropriate.
